The Farmhouse at Redcoats in North Hertfordshire

Great value and interesting (but tasty) food choices on the menu this evening - it is a well thought out menu. I thought it was fresh and cleverly crafted. Hats off to the kitchen team for that special pork terrine starter. It was so humble and comforting, a perfect start to the meal. My partner ordered the best steak he’s had in years, and the beef bourguignon just melts in your mouth. I must say, they have mastered that potato confit too. The staff was very attentive and helpful, from the moment you arrive to confirm your reservation to checking out. Kept telling everyone on the table that they have a great team. They allowed us to bring our own cake for tonight’s double birthday celebration which is a plus. I highly recommend this place. It was a great first impression and I am certainly coming back for our next visit in the area.

Had lunch here and it was fabulous. Food is absolutely worth five stars and the staff were helpful and attentive. Will be back!

Absolutely delicious slow cooked beef... just wanted more gravy (and got it). Basque cheesecake was not spectacular- just ok. I ll definitely be back to sample more from the menu.

We had an amazing stay, the room was beautiful, the setting idyllic and the food delicious. To top it all off the service was second to none. Absolutely all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return and will be recommending to everyone. Love this place - thank you for a special stay ❤️

A beautiful location. With very good service. But for me the menu was extremely limited. I visited because of a dinner invite and I'm vegetarian. If I had googled the menu I might have declined the invite. What I had, I enjoyed, but I had a starter for my main course. It's very much geared towards the meat eating foodie crowd.

A meal for eight on a Thursday evening. Very warm welcome when we arrived, the hostess actually took us on a tour of the ground floor and gave us a nice history of the house and the rooms. The staff took really good care of a couple of the group who had dietary requirements. They took such good care of them ensuring everything was alright that I think that this was the best I have seen and they really should be commended. The food was fine, nothing blew anyones socks off but it was tasty and filling. The real negative was that not everyone in our group was served at the same time. When the starters were served there were two of us who were left waiting for our food and by the time it arrived some of the others had finished their starters. The same with the main course where one of the group was kept waiting a good ten minutes before being served. This should never happen and made everyone involved uncomfortable. This was a shame as our servers were really nice but were let down by the kitchen not getting their act together. I would go here again as a couple but would be hesitant about going in a group.

We had a large family birthday party in a private room. The food was excellent topped only by the superb service. Faultless. Highly recommended.

I really want to love this place as it's a nice setting not far from home. BUT, the service is consistently poor. Waitresses are very slow, extremely forgetful, neglectful and unavailable. The forceful upselling while ordering is awkward and uncomfortable; "DOES ANYONE WANT TO ADD CAULIFLOWER CHEESE TO THEIR ORDER??". No, if we wanted it, we would have ordered it. How about asking me if I would like a refill on the drink that has been sat in front of me empty for the past 45 minutes..? The food can sometimes be good, not great, but quite often falls below expectations.

I attended a charity event in the barn. This place is amazing, great service and the pork that was served as a main was honestly the best I've had (and that's saying something) 😅

My daughters brought me for a Mother's Day Afternoon Tea. Attentive staff, delicious food and a stunning venue. 4 stars as disappointed that the 12. 5% service charge was not pointed out to us but just added to the bill.

Mother’s Day in the restaurant, 3rd consecutive year we’ve been & each time we’ve have had a fab afternoon. Staff are friendly & attentive without being overpowering. Atmosphere is always good. Even though the weather was dreary, the outlook over the gardens from the restaurant is lovely. Time left between each course is spot on. Food comes well presented but I’m not one who eats with my eyes & taste wise, each course was delicious to the taste buds! A genuine big thank you to all the restaurant team - high standards, high marks, high fives!

My daughter took me for afternoon tea, had a lovely afternoon. A great selection of cakes and sandwiche fillings were nice and fresh.

Absolutely wonderful, the food was excellent, flavoursome and beautifully presented. Emma our waitress was very attentive and keen to make sure everything was just right. Also the girl who showed us to our table was very pleasant and attentive. It was our 53rd wedding anniversary and it was memorable because of the staff in front of house and behind the scene.
