The Fairburn Restaurant in East Ayrshire

Dinner was v good. Service poor. £4.50 for a pint of cola an absolute rip off. It’s a pity as the food was very good however won’t be back due to cola cost.

Took my family out for my birthday and was so so disappointed i can’t tell you!! Between 5 of us our bill was £175 including meals and drinks plus a £10 tip we left at the end. The only positive was the young lady serving us, she was attentive and discreet at the same time. Firstly starters, me and my wife shared garlic prawns £10.50 hhu ugh!! 5 prawns came not dry-shelled, 3 thin strips of garlic bread and a dip that tasted of nothing, absolutley nothing. Other daughters had tempura which was 5/10 and the haggis bonbons were tasty enough but Luke warm. Onto mains. I had chicken linguine, again luke warm, however chicken so so dry and overcooked and the sauce it came in had began to scramble in places. I ate 80% of it coz i was starving after waiting almost an hr 20 mins, my wife had the steak £28 and asked for it medium rare, however the steak was so small and thin Gordon Ramsay would have struggled to cook it medium rare, supplemented by frozen chips and 2 tomatoes which were ok. My son in law absolutely loved the steak pies and tatties, my other daughter said her meal was okay but not great. Lastly was my youngest and as per fussiest, she went safe with the fish and chips option. She loved the fish, really fresh and tasty, she said the mushy peas were good but not as good as the 1’s i make at home haha (feather in my cap) and the chips were just frozen chips. It’s not In my nature to complain but we did all agree that we would much prefer an ice cream from the woodys ice cream shop on the way home opposed to anything off the desert menu. I was secretly glad as it saved me a bit of money on deserts . This review is an honest critic and i hope the owners read it and look at future recommendations for improvement, we all work hard for our money so let’s ensure we’re not undersold a product or service. Again a final word for the waiting staff they were brilliant .

Ate at The Fairburn during the week, it was with an Itison deal. We paid £29 for us both this time compared to £19 a year ago. You still get 2 courses and the value for money is as good as ever. My wife had her usual Tattie Scone Nachos followed by Cajun Chicken Crepe. I had Haggis Bonbons followed by Pan-Fried Chicken and Haggis Fritter, each course was delicious. The service was excellent as well, it’s always the same. 👏 Looking forward to visiting the Fairburn Hotel tonight with ex-work colleagues. No doubt it will be well worth the journey👍

An unplanned visit with no expectations but pleasantly surprised by the ambience, speed of service & fabulous food. The serving staff shone & the local produce served was fantastic. A wee hidden gem that we're delighted to have discovered.... definitely recommend 👌

just been to the Fairburn for dinner with hubby ,food was excellent , well presented and reasonably priced Sharyn and her staff were very helpful and pleasant ,we will return soon .

We went late on a Sunday afternoon and it was still pretty busy, you may want to book a table. Lots of free parking next to the building. Smartly decorated and the place was spotless. The menu is relatively typical Scottish pub food with a few interesting quirks like potato scone nachos (delicious!). Loved the local sourcing for meat, ice cream and lots more. Good cocktail menu and the driver had a wide choice of soft drinks, mocktails and more. I’d have liked more veg with the roast beef main, and there was no horseradish sauce, but that’s a minor quibble. We were surprised at how reasonable the prices were considering the quality; just under £85 (exc tip) for 3 courses x2, multiple cocktails/soft drinks and a coffee. Service was excellent throughout, friendly and professional. Well worth a visit!

Service a bit slow prices dearer than advertised on web page so check before going plates left to long when meal over clear tables quicker

We stayed in Mauchline overnight and then this is the place to dine. Most locals think the same, so on a Wednesday evening it was quite crowded. We had a pleasant table near the room and were served well (although the lady- servants still have to learn about the whiskies they have). We had a very nice light diner and were satisfied, but please consider if your main courses contain vegetables, because not all of them do. And there is no side dish with vegetables as such, which is remarkable,

Very enjoyable return visit, with great food. The tatty scone nachos was excellent and perfectly complemented the steak pie. Service was quite slow and drinks were quite expensive.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday with my sisters,one of whom had a voucher ,given as a present . The hotel was very clean and staff welcoming. Our meal was cooked to order and we all enjoyed the fresh vegetables which came with our meal. Best meal out that I have had for some time and have no bother recommending this restaurant.

We had an itison voucher for the fairburn hotel and as we had been previously and enjoyed it, we were looking forward to it. On arrival we were waiting ages to be seated as it was very busy, then it took 3 attempts for the waiter to bring us the correct drink order but to be fair we think he was new and didn't have a clue what to do. The food took ages to arrive at our table but it was busy. The choice on the menu was very good, not much difference from the normal menu. The katsu curry came with spicy nan, which we thought was a weird combination as you would expect prawn crackers? The combination just didn't work well, far too spicy and a very small slice of nan and katsu curry was far too sweet. It was alright but not the best katsu curry we have had!

Booked afternoon tea for 4 and must say, first class service from all the staff, and excellent value for £11.50 a head, all food on each platter (2) was superb with 4 sandwiches, 4 scones, 4 full size cakes, fudge, jam, cream and unlimited tea or coffee, in excellent surroundings, would definitely recommend, even the main meals being served looked amazing, will definitely be back to sample, again Thank You for a wonderful time.

I think the fact that 3 of the last 5 reviews are mine shows you how much we like and use The Fairburn Restaurant. We ate here last night and had another quality meal. For two people to eat here on an Itison voucher costing £19, well it simply offers great value for money. The choice of food is really good as well, a very extensive menu to pick from. Had a lovely chat with Natalie the owner as well which was a bonus. Very passionate about her Hotel which was nice to see. Complimented her as well on how she picks and trains the young waitresses, best service around. Just bought another voucher to use early next year. If anyone else does, please remember to quote the 4 digit PIN number supplied by Itison.

Went for lunch with a it is on voucher. The menu needs updated for gluten free, it advertises gluten free Fahaties but they do not have gluten free wraps. However I was offered a alternative and I chose vegetarian curry. That was the strangest curry I ever saw. The vegetables were deep fried in batter which was not good or tasty. However the starter was lovely and my husband enjoyed his soup and steak pie

Enjoyed our visit and as ever, the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly, although there was a significant delay in processing our drinks order when we arrived, hence a 4 instead of 5 star rating.

Ate at the Fairburn Hotel the other night there. I’ve said repeatedly it’s our favourite restaurant in the area for getting a quality meal in nice surroundings and is without doubt excellent value for money! We were there on a £19 Itison deal and The Fairburn menu to choose from is very extensive. We have been to other local restaurants recently and the starters alone were all at least £7 and to get 2 courses each for £9.50 it’s a no brainer really. In fact we went straight home and booked another deal. Anyway on to our meals. For starters we had mini haggis pie and tattie scone nachos. For mains we had chicken tempura and cajun chicken tower. Everything we had was excellent. The service was really good as it always is. A few new faces were serving us and they were nice to talk to and very professional. Looking forward to another visit to The Fairburn in the near future 👍

Called in at The Fairburn last week for dinner at night. It was quite busy, especially for a Thursday night. We are regular visitors here and it was good to be back. The menu had some new additions and it was roughly £20 for a 3 course meal. What was also quite refreshing was that there has been little or no price increase from our last visit. We have noticed a distinct rise in prices in other local Hotels and restaurants due to the pandemic. Probably the best value for money is the early bird menu. It’s available Monday to Friday, from midday until 5.45pm and it costs £11.95 for 2 courses. We’ve found the service in The Fairburn to be very good. Lauren served us again when we were there and we have always found her very pleasant and mannerly. Nothing seems to be a problem for her. We will certainly visit again in the near future. This restaurant doesn’t let you down, it’s consistently good and offers good value for money 👍

This small, family run hotel is doing a fantastic job during this horrible time. The takeaway service provided is first class, serving the community and surrounding villages with deliveries. The standard is as high as ever and the presentation is still first class. Delicious food delivered with the same excellent service that you get in the actual restaurant. So reasonably priced that it's a very affordable treat, well done and keep up the good work

We use the Fairburn a lot as you can probably tell from my reviews. It just doesn’t let us down. The service is always first class and our meal last night was the same.I had Portbello mushroom stuffed with haggis as a starter and my wife had her favourite, tattie scone nachos. For mains my wife had Cajun chicken crepe and I had Lamb madras on top of a naan bread. COVID-19 regulations are very good and the tables are well spaced out and private. Look forward to visiting again in the near future.

First visit for a wee while place was looking very nice. Had garlic and chilli prawns for starter and chicken tempura for main. Starter ok but very small portion, same couldn’t be said for main course plenty and really good. Service was a wee bit on the slow side tbh.

Can’t believe I’m following on from my February review, but the world has been on lockdown due to COVID! Ate here last week with a couple we dine out regularly with. We all had starters and mains and everything was first class, as it always is. Restaurant was busy but obviously well spaced out. As I’ve said on many occasions, probably the best Itison deal we buy. Highly recommended

We both enjoyed a lovely meal again last night. Although it was an Itison deal we always find plenty to choose from on the menu and it is without doubt our favourite restaurant to use on an Itison deal.The service we had from Lauren was first class, we have always found her very pleasant and efficient. It’s a wee bit of a drive for us to get to The Fairburn but it’s well worth it and I’m sure we will be back up in the near future.

Lovely food in pleasant restaurant. I had not booked, but we were able to be seated. We've just moved into the area, so it will be our go to place with visitors.

A few days before New years day I decided to book a table for seven. The service was excellent and the menu and food served was very good. My son wanted a gluten free soup and Chef made a tomato soup which was very tasty.

We are residents in Mauchline. Have dined at the Fairburn in the past and been disappointed. Decided to try again after recent reviews. It was lovely to find there were fellow diners. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were brilliant if not over worked ie running around like headless chickens. The menu is good as was the food. This now could be a regular venue.

The menu has a good variety and the food is good quality. The owners have undertaken a lot of new refurbishments and is a lovely place to eat and drink

After a recent refurb and menu overhaul, the fairburn is well worth a visit. It serves home made fresh local produce , served with a smile and a great atmosphere, and priced to suit everyone, portion size is adequate and a good range od wine spirits and beer .

A good menu selection, served in a bright and airy dining room. The food was first class, and the staff were both friendly and efficient.

We booked the table for 14 family members, ages ranging from 10 to 70, all to have a 3 course meal. We weren’t disappointed. The venue was clean, tidy and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and professional. The menu catered for everyone with ease. A good night was had by all. It is worth mentioning that there was also another party on, this probably had in excess of 25 guests, the quality of service and food was not in any way reduced by the numbers. A credit to the Fairburn by all involved. Thank you

We visited today with itison vouchers having been recommended by other family members. Staff barely came near us having to wait a while before we got our main meal then having finished, plates were not taken away after more than 20 minutes. We had ordered a sweet as part of our voucher but having been left for so long we run out of time as my mother was going to work so had to leave without our sweet with no apology for the long wait.

Well worth a visit and although not on any main routes it is easily found. Presentation and quality of food excellent and in lovely surroundings.

Stayed at the Fairburn April 2018 for a week was fantastic my son and i was visiting family our room was very nice comfortable beds .The resturant was excellent food there wasnt nothing bad at all loved it .Service was excellent too made my son and I feltl very comfortable since we were all the way from Canada. Fraser was the best even gave is a ride to the airport and the owners were lovely people really went out there way for you even got up early in morning before we left to say goodbye would highly recommend the fairburn hotel and restaurant cant wait to return.

This is our local restaurent, and I have never been disappointed with the service, quality of cooking, choice of menu or prices charges. If you are in Mauchline, be sure to pay it a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you to the management and staff for looking after us for a few days while work was being done at our house. The staff couldn't have been anymore helpful and were friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable. It is on a main road but the traffic noise is minimal. The food was excellent both for breakfast and bar meals with a great choice to meet everyones needs. I would recommend the Fairburn both as a restaurant and hotel for locals and vistors to the srea.

Visited here on Saturday. Food was tasty and warm. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only negative is that I feel compared to other restaurants in the area the menu could have more choice. For example chicken from the grill with a choice of sauce

Another visit here where meals are of good quality and ample portions. Only slight complaint for me is same salad you get with started appears again sometimes with main course. A salad with a gammon steak in my opinion is on the lazy side( excuse the pun) but tbf black pudding fritter is a wee bit different.

Bought the itison deal and you had the choice of the £18 deal for 2 course meal for 2 or the £22 deal for 2 with glass of wine. Unfortunately the £18 deal was done so the £22 dea had to do. Bought 2 deals to take the parents and due to driving and one liking wine we were aloud to change the drink for a soft drink and the girl aloud us to have pints of draught cola. Delighted with the attitude and to top it all off the meal was even better. Everyone got something different and the lot was cooked to perfection. Desert was quality. This should have been a 5 star review but the end of the meal settling the bill was a little embarrassing from the blonde girl. She came over took the voucher code and then we gave her a tip and thanked her. Her response was you have not paid for the soft drinks. I explained that we swapped them for the pints of cola. She did not look pleased and questioned us on it. After we we told her who have us this she said that she would be speaking to the girl who served us. The girl who served us deserves 5 stars and the girl who took the bill needs a lesson in attitude towards customers. We left a tip before we got questioned so I'd it's such a big deal put that towards the pints. So over all lovely food lovely place but beware of the blonde misery guts.

A very enjoyable restaurant, a cosy bar, well trained ans sympathetic personnel, intelligent cook, absolute cleanliness, easy parking, a nice choice of malt whiskies.

We went last minute as my partner got a new job and we popped in to celebrate. We have been a few times before and really enjoyed the food. The staff were really good however the food was really disappointing. We both haggis bonbons for a starter and they were over cooked. I had chicken fajita for main and it was only chicken no veg, my partner had tempura and said it was nice. Its such a shame as we had previously good experiences.

Tried this restaurant on our last evening around Cumnock. We were both pleased we did, we had two lovely meals served by two friendly welcoming young staff. We enjoyed it so much we joined their loyalty scheme, baring in mind we live 350 miles away at present. Thoroughly recommend it.

We had friends coming to Mauchline for a night out and my better half suggested the Fairburn, To be honest I was a bit dubious as the last time a few years back the service had been really slow. However I shouldn't have worried as the service was excellent and our servers were very polite and knowledgeable on the menu. I had the tattie scone doritos with the salsa and sour cream dip as my starter which was very tasty and for my main I had the Rabbie burger, an 8oz burger in a bun with haggis and a tattie scone and chips. What a feed we will definitely be back and our friends said that they had really enjoyed their meals as well and all at a reasonable cost.

Purchased a Itison voucher for two course lunch and wine. Having experienced offers like this before it is always hit and miss to what you actually receive on the day.

The food was lovely in this little restaurant. Prices not too expensive and the majority of the food locally sourced which was nice to hear and ensured it was fresh. Would definately eat here again

I purchased a voucher for lunch through an online site for a 2 course lunch for 2 people and decided to take advantage of it on a Sunday afternoon. I booked my table in advance and the service both on the telephone and by the waiting staff was superb. We were waited on by the lovey Lauren and Kimberly. Thank you ladies.

Ate here last night with friends. The Restaurant was fairly quiet and we had our meals in the bar area for the first time. It is every bit as comfortable and well decorated as the dining room. All four of us really enjoyed what we had and the service was of the usual high standard.

Enjoyed another delicious lunch today in this warm and welcoming restaurant. The staff are a credit to The Fairbairn. Friendly, helpful and happy to go the extra mile which creates a lovely ambience. Look forward to my next visit.

Just returned from a great night here. Dinner was superb. We chose from normal menu but Festive menu looked great too. Place is spotless. Young man & young lady that served us were excellent. Can’t wait till next time.

Stayed 3 nights at The Fairburn whilst visiting family in Mauchline. The hotel is very well maintained and managed, staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, our room was spacious, well appointed and welcoming. Breakfasts are hearty with good choices. We dined each evening, the food was very good, well presented and prepared from a varied menu. We particularly liked the tempura prawns, the braised beef and the rib eye steaks were exactly right. Would highly recommend and we look forward to returning very soon to sample more of the lovely dishes.

Sunday lunch was ok but not great, and the price of drink and the choice was bad the draft lager not good only two choices .

This was my first visit and certainly not my last...the food was excellent first class..would definitely recommend to all my family's...staff was immaculate very smart and very attentive...thank you

We visited The Fairburn Restaurant recently with friends who had never been before. They were very impressed just like us. It was an Itison deal and we had two courses each which we picked from quite an extensive menu. Everything we had to eat was very good and we had nothing to complain about.

Had dinner with a friend and everything was delicious. We both enjoyed our dinner. Would definitely visit the Fairburn again.

The Fairburn is next to the village car park and is handy for visiting the sites associated with this famous poet .The premises have been updated in recent years to a high standard and there is a beer garden to the rear of the restaurant. The service and meals are very good, excellent menu, it is very popular for anniversaries, birthdays and funeral parties. Food is also available in the bar. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

This restaurant is first class. The decor is beautiful and the staff are very smart and efficient. The meals are excellent the menu varied with great choice.y

Myself and my family eat here regularly, and can’t fault it, good food and friendly staff. We’ve never had a bad meal, but please put chocolate cake back on the desert menu.

We initially liked fairburn and Natalie. Young inexperienced staff letting her down. Meals not consistent. Chef? Sorry to say that as was once a favourite. Haven't been or bought itison in while for those reasons

I travel quite a distance for dinner here, so well worth it. Staff are always so welcoming, can't do enough for you. Meals are to die for and reasonable priced as well. Been going for a number of years now and it just gets better and better. Highly recommended

We descended on the Fairburn without booking a table tonight but the staff quickly moved tables around and managed to fit us in! From that moment on the staff were great, really attentive, great with the kids, professional yet friendly too! It was my first visit to the restaurant but I shall be back! The food was fab, really tasty, the menu has a Scottish twist eg the tattie scone nachos! Loved them! Great kids menu too, and a really nice touch with the "surprise" gift (a toy) for the kids included!

The Fairburn is our favourite Itison deal. Consistently delivers a quality meal time after time. The service is first class as well to match the food.

This little restaurant has a lovely interior and a large outdoor dining area which is perfect when the weather is nice. We went there with a small group on the day of the Holy Fayre and it was lovely to have a place for us to rest our feet and enjoy our meal.

Had a lovely meal with my wife. Nicely decorated restaurant and great staff. The menu was ample and well priced. My wife swears by the tattie scone nachos, and the rabbie burger was delicious. Will be back soon.

Ate here for the first time recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had the Rabbie Burger, burger, haggis, tattie scone, with cheese 50p extra. Freshly made and very filling. Had a Nutella Crepe to follow, very nice, took a little while to come but the place was busy and everything is cooked to order. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the décor is amazing, especially thinking back to the old Loudoun. Its great that Mauchline now has a great restaurant and hotel that will attract visitors to the village as it is something that has been sadly lacking in the past. I wish it all the success it deserves and will certainly be returning more frequently in the future.

Visited the fairburn for the first time today As in the area with friends. Staff were friendly and polite, menu had plenty of choice and food was lovely. Would happily recommend.

Go to the Fairburn quite a lot as we live in the village, it's top notch for us, really smart...

Found this little place and it's a gem great food attentive staff I'd almost a 5* as did the majority what stopped me was the lack of Craft beer ..sorry guys you need to look into this every time we Have meal I've asked the same questions and had various answers if you don't know please admit you don't and come back with an answer please Sorry everyone said 5 star however due to the above I can 0nly I can only award you a 4*

Tenía un vale para aquí - 2 itison campos y un vaso de vino cada dos personas. Qué desperdicio de dinero! Nos dieron el £9. Mientras todos los demás 95 menú tenía el menú completo. La carne estaba seca y sobresaliente y 2 cosas eran difíciles momentos. Yo no le recomiendo este lugar a cualquiera! Fue mi aniversario de boda y nos quedamos muy decepcionados por la experiencia.

Really nice stay. Was surprised by the high standard of the food. Our room was comfy, even on the street side. We enjoyed our meal, and, were amazed by the choice on the menu. Would recommend this place to anybody looking for a nice experience.Will surely come back.

After a whole morning of travelling, not having found anywhere to eat, we came across the Fairburn in Mauchline and were charmed by the cosy inside and incredibly vast menu! SO much choice! We tried the homemade pasta with bacon and mushrooms (creamy) and some sandwiches, and they surprised us for an incredible value for money! Speedy service, very tasty, friendly personnel and great warm atmosphere on a rainy day :)

Booked this last minute but was not disappointed. Was shown to table and drink order taken the young girl explained a few changes to menu plenty to choose from food was served quickly and efficiently enjoyed all 3 courses was very reasonably priced would reccommend it to my friends and will definately go back again staff are very friendly and efficient.

Visited midweek and we had a very enjoyable meal with excellent service. Varied menu but not a huge selection, nevertheless we were happy with the choice available on our visit. Reasonable drinks/wine menu although were only had soft drinks.Well priced menu and food was served fresh and hot.........and tasty.Service was excellent....... special mention to Amy.

I stayed here as a guest of the hotel and had both breakfast and Dinner here, both of which were served quickly by helpful staff and the food was great. Will definitely eat here again!

Visited again for a meal with family. As always the food was fresh and piping hot. The staff pleasant and helpful. But as a regular customer I could recite the menu before its handed to me. Perhaps its time some new additions to keep things fresh and keep customers.

It was a sad day for family and friends and everyone gathered in this local restaurant. The food was traditional and humble, the staff pleasant and respectful. Light airy surroundings and comfortable seating for all.

The Fairburn Restaurant in the Fairburn Hotel is always welcoming and rarely requires advanced booking except on notable occasions such as Mother's Day or Christmas. The restaurant is nicely decorated with contemporary styling and always clean. Tables are available for couples up to larger parties and the restaurant is spacious so you never feel cramped.The menu usually includes a wide range of traditional and some more exotic dishes and there's normally a list daily specials available too. I'm fairly certain vegetarian meals feature too but check with the hotel to satisfy yourself. I've never been disappointed and am always happy to drop into the Fairburn when the mood or occasion demands. Value for money is excellent and the staff are efficient and friendly.

Took my mum out to lunch ended up going to the Fairburn. This place has certainly changed since the last time I was in (80's). It has nice decor & good atmosphere.The waiting staff were brilliant & efficent right to the end. The food was of good quality well cooked & seasoned with a good choice on the menu. The tattie scone nachos was a good take on things. The only thing I could pick on is some of the pricing some things seemed a bit over priced especially for being a small village pub. Ex steak pie was around £12, not even in a pie just the pastry on top. I had braised beef which was excellent but £13 for a bit of brisket! Would go back again especially if someone else was paying Lol.

Ate here a few weeks ago before attending a funeral. We arrived after a 5 hour car journey very early before restaurant opened but one young lady was happy to let us in and sit in the bar and made us a coffee while we waited. We went through for lunch just before 12 after she let us order early. Can't praise the staff highly enough.Food was beautiful. We both had the steak pie and it was perfect. Vegetables and potato were as they should be. The menu is exceptional and certainly has something for everyone. But, we can't thank the staff enough for the wonderful service we received despite visiting for such a sad occasion. They explained how we could get to the church and where we could park, not knowing the area we were very grateful for this information. Will definitely visit this restaurant again when visiting the area next time.

My 13-year-old dining companion and I popped into The Fairburn on our way home from shopping in Glasgow. Upon arrival, I enquired about a table and was told that there would be a 15/20 minute wait. We had a drink in the bar area as we were waiting. I asked if we could eat in the bar area as we were not particularly dressed up, but we were told that this was not permitted. When we entered the bar area, one couple were eating their main course and as we were leaving, another couple received their starter. When I asked the waitress why WE were not allowed to dine in the bar area, she told us that is was up to the chef who could dine in the bar area.35 minutes later, we were still waiting on our table. We asked the waitress, whose name I think was Natalie, (Young, tall, slim with dark hair) how much longer she thought our table would be. She looked furious with us for asking and rolled her eyes at the man who was sat at the bar drinking. 50 MINUTES after arriving, we were finally showed to our table. NO apology for the wait and the waiter showing us to our table could not have looked dourer if he tried.The Fairburn restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is always impeccably dressed.I ordered the pan fried chicken served with a haggis fritter and it was disappointing, rather tasteless. I then ordered the chocolate orange cheesecake which was completely tasteless, so much so that I struggled to taste ANY chocolate orange. I actually sent my dessert back, which is something I have only ever done once before in my life! I ordered another dessert in it's place and it was very tasty. Thankfully, the waitress that attended to us during the meal itself was absolutely lovely. Young, tall, blonde smiley girl who could not have been more helpful.On our way home from our meal, we stopped to use the RBS cash line in Cumnock and the dark headed waitress from the Fairburn, who was driving a black Mini, had stopped to use the cash line too. When she saw us she made no effort to hide the fact that she was talking about us to her friend who was with her. She pointed to us, said something to her friend, who then looked straight at us. This did not particularly bother me, but it did upset my 13-year-old dining companion, which was not nice.I was not particularly annoyed at the disappointing food, perhaps I was just unlucky in my choice of food that particular evening. I was HUGELY disappointed with the service, 'welcome' and attitude of certain staff members.

This hotel is our local but I have to admit the food and ambience is excellent.You will not be disappointed with a night in the Fairburn.All the staff are top notch and cannot do enough for you.Natilie the owner is always on hand and very approachable if you had a problem.

Love this place ....the staff are amazing ..really helpful . The restaurant is beautiful with a great selection of reasonably priced meals . Oh and the cocktails are fab too . Well worth a visit .
