The Erskine Arms in Conwy

Been Erskine Arms a number of time in the day excellent food excellent service… was out with family and children and sisters family last night and got manhandled by the doorman on way in… grabbed my arm and said “is this lot with you?” I took exception, told him so, he got even more aggressive, I turned round and left… probably never go back. Totally unacceptable absolutely no call or reason for this. I’d ask the management to review as it really doesn’t represent the usual experience

We stayed at the Erskine Arms for two nights, on a BBEM basis, and we could not fault anything. The room was spotless, and well serviced, the breakfasts were plentiful with an excellent choice, and quality. Again the Evening meal menu was varied and with plenty of choice for Starter, Main, and Sweet and well presented. The choice of drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic was very good, including 2 or 3 cask ales . I have saved the best until last, a huge thank you to ALL the Staff at the Erskine, from Domestic, Bar, and waiting on, a big thank you for helping to make our stay with you most enjoyable

A superb evening, pre-booked online without any problems (although important to note, I didn’t realise we had to verify on the email booking link until the last minute!). Marked 4 out of 5 stars just because I was totally shocked at the price of my soft drinks!😱 We were shown to our table by a lovely waitress who looked after us throughout the evening and was superbly attentive. I'd requested downstairs but there was a lovely, but rather noisy party of people (enjoying themselves) so I asked if we could be seated upstairs instead and she quickly obliged and found us a table (my husband struggles hearing if there's other noise around and I didn’t fancy not conversing all through dinner). No Berries & Cherries Old Mout, sadly, so I stuck to soft drinks (blackcurrant cordial with sparkling water) and my husband had a couple of beers. These drinks came promptly as did the food - soup for my husband and one chicken and one Irish pie. Huge portions and very filling (but I managed to make a little room for some treacle pudding with vegan ice cream and souse of berries - I think they were berries soaked in sugar to produce a sweet syrup) and my husband had a coffee. All in all, the food was utterly delicious as usual. The service was impeccable considering it was Friday night and the whole place was incredibly busy - shoulder to shoulder in the main bar😲 When we asked for the bill (£81.50) I paid for it but explained that I was quite shocked that the soft drinks were so terribly expensive - my cordial and sparkling water were almost the same as my husband's pints of beer😵😵 £2.75 for a measure of blackcurrant cordial😵‍💫 All she could do was shrug and say "I know". So, if you're watching the pennies, just watch those drink prices, even if you're the designated driver!!!! Great place, lots interesting pictures all over the place and a lovely atmosphere. You won't be disappointed

Exceptional hospitality, service and care today. Delicious food, great drinks. Loved the lower bar outside space, Had the surf a turf, rib eye steak and crumble, local cider and some champagne. Highly recommended, really nice people too; thank you. Dog friendly too, which was great.

The setting was lovely and we were given a great table by a big window and the menu looked great. It went downhill from there. The staff weren’t at all welcoming and all looked miserable in all honesty. My daughter’s food arrived inedible and had to be sent back. My son’s pizza and chips didn’t look appetising and certainly not worth the £8.95 that was charged. While my meal looked nice, it wasn’t particularly tasty and I left quite a bit. I had high hopes after entering the establishment but after the disappointing food I can’t see us returning.

Although I did not stay here, I visited one evening to try the food and look at the place for future visits. I had a curried cod dish, which I can easily say was one of the best fish fishes I have eaten in the UK. It was quite simply brilliant. The staff were very attentive and the whole ambiance was extremely nice and professional. Looking forward to going back and staying.

My daughter booked here for my Birthday. Had a look at the website and the Sunday Menu all seemed good until we got there. My Daughter picked here because we have been before, got there today to find the actual menu was completely different, when I asked about it was told that the menu changes quite often(so why put it on your website?) Still we ordered food. Really disappointed with the quality of the food. One of use ordered the Welsh Rarebit because the actual meal we wanted wasn't on the actual menu anymore. When the meals came the Rarebit was disgusting, way too much wholegrain mustard to the point you couldn't actually taste anything else. Other food we had was the Erskine Burger, not too bad apart from the chunky chips and the small Fiah and Chips. Raised the problem with the Rarebit with the waitress after we paid the bill who said I'll mention it. Really disappointed

My Mexican chilli beef fries was no "light bite" (it was huge) but was the tastiest meal I've had for ages as was my husband's pork main course. Even early evening the atmosphere was buzzing and the staff were exceptional - energetic and very friendly. We couldn't fault the place - Conwy at its best!

Visited for a meal with the family on a Saturday night. We were placed upstairs and unfortunately it was lacking in atmosphere due to hardly any other diners there, although the rest of the place was busier. Food was very average - chicken was dry and wasn’t piping hot. Salmon risotto was a plateful of rice with a fillet of salmon, no colour and very bland. Not one for giving negative reviews but we expected a better experience and wasn’t comparable with previous visits.

We booked a meal for Sunday dinner. Don’t get me wrong the food tasted lovely but you need at least two meals to make you feel full. When you spend close to £20each for a meal you expect more.

We were a party of six, the waiting on staff were very friendly, helpful and flexible. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.

Booked well in advance online. Smooth booking process and no problems on arrival. Glad we were on a quieter table upstairs as downstairs was busy when we arrived. Friendly staff and good value for money. Food arrived extremely quickly, was very tasty and large portions (for me!) All in all a cracking Sunday roast. If I was being super picky, I would say try and get in some 0% alcohol gins or alternatives, such as Pentire, or zero wine? But other than that, it was excellent.

Had splendid fish and chips in the bar area - good portion size, piping hot, freshly cooked, home made tartare sauce and minted peas.....all delicious Will definitely return to the Erskine Arms next time we're in Conwy - beer excellent also - and can highly recommend the Mango cider as an accompaniment to the fish and chips.

DISGUSTING SERVICE AND RUDE STAFF IF YOU WANT A RELAXING FAMILY MEAL DO NOT VISIT!!! As a paying customer who used to visit the Erskine regularly having accommodation breakfast and dinner as a break away most weekends I can say I won't be coming back !! Paying over £250.00 for food and drinks I DO NOT expect to be THROWN OUT !!! ROWAN came over to our table with no warning of time, threw the bill on the table, and said you need to leave in 15 minutes. Rowan did not say sorry here is the bill she threw it down on our table with offerings of moving to the bar. This is such a DISGRACEFUL way to treat paying customers! WE WERE REFUSED DESSERTS! I do not expect waitresses to upset my child !!!! EVEN MY CHILD HAS BETTER MANNERS AND SHES 5! Rowan also looked at me numerous times while everyone else at the table was eating while my lunch was clearly forgotten after ten minutes Rowan thought she would do her job and ask if something was forgotten. I was looking around the whole time so this was certainly noticeable. As a paying customer, I don't want to hear the staff chatting about boyfriends while I am waiting for food!!!!! I expect my food when the rest of the table have theirs not ten minutes later and everyone else's is cold due to waiting. There were 4 tables around us empty and had been empty the whole time we had been eating, the tables were also all empty when we left, therefore this was petty on their behalf. My child asked for ice cream and Rowan was very disgusting with her manners and just said very bluntly NO! Rowan needs to learn manners around Children and Paying customers as hers is currently nonexistent! She should be ashamed... Before the meal, while waiting we also got spoken to like rubbish for sitting in the bar area with no reserved markings.The musician hired took it upon himself to say we should not be sitting where we are sitting and we are to move. This is clearly the restaurant's fault and AGAIN NOT the customer's issue to resolve! We did go to a Polish man who was supposed to be managing on the day and he believed this was acceptable treatment therefore if you are looking for a relaxing family meal DO NOT VISIT THE ERSKINE ARMS AS THEY ARE VERY POORLY RUN AND DONT KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT.

We had a lovely relaxed, late Sunday lunch earlier today. Food, staff and service excellent. The desserts we chose - Cherry Pie and Mango, coconut and lime cheesecake were a perfect end to our meal!

We stopped here after visiting the castle and the smallest house in Britain for a quick bit and a pint. It was exactly what we were looking for.

Had a 2 night stay. The room was lovely and comfortable with a view from one of the dual aspect windows over the castle. We dined in both nights and the food was delicious. The staff were great. We were lucky to get one of only 3 parking spaces available for hotel guests but would have been happy to pay for parking in one of the car parks within walking distance of the accommodation. We have holidayed in the area for years and this is one place we would definitely return to.

Stopped here on a whim and what an absolute treat! A few starters and nibbles which were full of flavour followed by some belly pork done Asian style, unreal flavours! We left very happy and will return on the way back from our trip. What a great food experience 😀

We only went in with the intention of having a quick drink whilst having a walk around Conwy. There was live music on as we arrived and after seeing the food come out we ended up staying for some ourselves. The fish and chips were lovely and the Bailey’s crème brûlée was to die for! They were really accommodating and we didn’t have to wait long for food which was surprising given we hadn’t booked and it was a Sunday afternoon. The staff were really friendly it’s a really cosy atmosphere.

Perfect Sunday lunch, food was really excellent. lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Dog friendly - lots of cosy corners to keep them calm and away from other diners. The restaurant is also dog free of those who prefer it.

Visited here for my birthday last week. Had heard good things and wasn't disappointed. They had a cocktail on the special board, which made my day :) Food was delicious and servings were good. We were stuffed, but I did manage a pudding! Baileys creme brulee..YUMMY! Setting is lovely. Decor stunning. Staff were very good and seemed to enjoy their work. Will return.

We were recommended here for dinner as we were staying in Conwy for a few days. One of the best Sunday roasts we’ve ever had. Beautifully prepared and thankfully we managed to get one of the last cauliflower cheeses as they were very popular. Great service and a really lovely atmosphere. Thanks for a great evening

We had a local light ale and small fish and chips. The food, although a simple dish, was exquisite. The fish batter was light not greasy and newly fried - I felt pleasantly full, but not ill. The mushy peas were absolutely delicious. The tartare sauce was exceptionally good. It was a perfect meal. The service was fast, friendly and professional.

Tuesday lunchtime walk in for 2 adults and 2 children. Excellent choice of meals on kids menus with generous portions. Friendly and attentive staff. Would visit again and try lots of other items from the menu, a varied selection of meals, too many lovely things to choose from!

Everything was fabulous. Good service and no waiting. The beer and wines were good quality. The food was perfect. Great to eat somewhere and have no critism. I would highly recommend it.

We were wondering where all the people were on a Friday night in Conwy & they were here. In the Erskine! The bar staff weren’t that friendly but the restaurant staff couldn’t have been lovelier. The menu was a little limited (for vegetarians) but it was well made & pretty tasty…..the star of the show being the sticky toffee pudding.

Enjoyed 1 lunch & 2 breakfast meals while staying at The Erskine Arms. Lunch selection is mouth wateringly amazing! Such a variety. I had the pork belly done with a sticky chili sauce, Asian slaw, grilled pak choy & subbed a salad for chips/spuds. I ate it all!! Breakfasts had cold cereals, fruits & yogurts available as self serve. Plus there was a hot a La carte menu as well. Kitchen service on all 3 occasions was efficient & staff all very lovely. Shout out to Nicole who took care of us from check in to meal service to checkout. Even if we’re not staying there again on our next visit to Conwy we will definitely have a lunch or dinner there! *Dinner will no doubt require reservations.

We have been here many times before and love it. However yesterday was not an enjoyable experience. Beer was flat. The food still had not arrived after 45mins so we complained to the waitress who was unable to help. We asked to see the manager. Talk about passive aggressive and rude. Her attitude was awful and she had no idea how to handle our questions which soon turned into a complaint. She argued with us and disagreed with everything we said. Erskine, this manager is letting you down! She wasn’t even dressed smartly and did not look professional what so ever. Piercings in a food environment go against health and safety and food safety.

Visited Saturday lunchtime with our dog. We got the last table outside and ordered shashuka, roast aubergine on sourdough. Prompt service. Yes, this is a must go spot if you want an upscale pub vibe. There are multiple rooms and an enclosed outdoor patio which was relaxing and quiet. Protocol for the patio was to order and pay at the bar and the wait staff delivered your food. Don't know the ordering process inside. Our sandwiches, smoked salmon and the fish and fries, were both delicious, well constructed and decent portions. While there, be sure to order their local beer - Conway Draft.

We visited with 3 generations of the family for a pre-booked dinner. We had visited before, some years ago. The service was good and reasonably fast. The food was well cooked and served appropriately and it was very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will visit again.

Been a while since Ive been here, and the food has noticeably gone downhill. The mushroom soup was nice but the croutons had a horrible taste. Due to lack of appealling non - meat options, I had the arancini starter as a main. The arancini was incredibly greasy and was served with far too much oily and overwhelming tapenade. The pitta and humus was appalling value for money and my friends' squid was really poor. The chips served with the greasy fish were pale and under cooked. More interesting non - meat options would be good, curry is a lazy veggie option.
