Nice chippy, and the service was good

I recommend the fish which you request when you first go in as it's cooked to order.

7.20 and I come in for chips 2nd time to be told shut yet open signs outside, sort it out

Ohhh my goodness! The fish is delicious and flaky, the two ladies are the best.... amazing people who gives the best customer service, they're lovely to my two children and most of all amazing food. I tried chips with pepper and onion and it was so delicious. This is the best chippy shop ever! I recommend to everyone.

Drove down from Scotland and needed some hot food fast! Google pointed to this chip shop as a local favourite so we went for it. Very happy we did. Delicious fresh fish, crispy batter and amazing fluffy chips! Fantastic service from the friendly local lasses who served us. We will certainly be back whenever we next pass through the area. Recently moved to the area. To my delight, I have found what are the best chippy chips I have ever had! Recommend to my family and friends and they have also commented on how good the chips are. Would recommend the salt and pepper chips aswell - these aren’t clear on the menu but there are a few signs around the shop about them.

Recently moved to the area. Was instantly really impressed with the quality of the chips. Some of the best chippy chips we’ve had - and they have a salt and pepper version. Still waiting to try some more of the mains, but good chips always makes a great chippy.

We’ve used The English Chippy more times than I’d like to admit. Always speedy cheerful service and great food. Tried the other local chippies and they are not as good. Keep up the good work!

Had their new salt & pepper chips and they were absolutely to die for, far far better than any I’ve had from any Chinese I’ve been to. 100% recommend.

Used to be nice but gone down hill chips hard fish like it was cooked yesterday and parts of order missing.

Spending £18 on fish and chips x 2 I expect it to be decent, the fish scored a 2 . The chips were thin and dried up , and ended up in my bin . Will be trying elsewhere next time .

We used to rate Sykes as the best until we came across this gem, superb food...well done!

Good place for a afternoon greasy meal. Prices are good and food is tasty. Waiting times can be a bit long at around noon, but staff is quite efficient. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Myself & My Family have used this Chippy quite often just recently, Everything has been spot on & delicious to taste, Also Nice & Hot too because everything is cooked fresh as you order it !! Iv recommended it to lots of People who are going to try this Chippy, l Found out 2day they also do a free delivery service too, For the Elderly & Disabled, Which i think is Fantastic. Dont take our word for it, YOU NEED TO TRY IT YOURSELVES.. 👍👍

Paid for a large portion, but only got what resembled a small. Other than that, curry sauce was amazing. It actually closes at 7pm Mon-Thurs, and closes at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Unsure about Sunday hours but timings on here are not correct.

Under new management for about 12 months and now much improved service. Good size portion of chips, and good prices.

Bought fish n' chips X3 this evening at a cost £18. The chips were soggy and greasy, I asked for a lightly battered fish which was also soggy n greasy with only half a fish inside the mushy batter. The mushy peas we're nice but you can't really go wrong with these. Overall,very disappointed and definitely won't be returning.

Very nice chippy, top gravy. Place is closed 2.30-4.30pm though. Opening times are different on the door
