The Emporium in Cheshire West and Chester

Unhelpful and can’t tell the time… took a friend over from the US there for a quick sandwich last Saturday. Had bought bread there before (sourdough from Bear bakery) but never eaten, and had heard lovely things. In we go. ‘Sorry, the kitchen’s closed’. Oh! What time did it close? ‘We close at 2:00 on a Saturday’. What a shame, we just wanted a quick bite. There was no wriggle room here, it was very clear. As we depart I note that it is actually 1:55pm, not yet 2:00. So wriggle room shouldn’t even have been necessary. On principle won’t return. Had to give stars for food even though obvs wasn’t lucky enough to be awarded any…

We used to love your restaurant The Old Grocery Restaurant in Hawarden which was a cosy little place with really good food and atmosphere! Shame it was closed. After visiting the Emporium we sat outside for a coffee. I found that I would be well put off this place in ordering any food, due to the amount of dogs in and outside the restaurant. Not even small ones!! It is dog central, and it ruins it for other customers enjoyment. I would not return on that basis. More places should have a no dog policy in restaurants and cafes in Chester. My happy place. High-quality food at reasonable prices. Relaxed atmosphere and a good spot for seeing lots of cute dogs. Their breakfast menu has options beyond a full English (which is excellent as well) - the crumpets, soufflé or green goddess bruschetta are all delicious, as are the coffee and cinamon rolls. There are plenty of vegetarian options.

Went in for a Saturday morning breakfast and ordered the breakfast souffle and a breakfast which both tasted delicious. Staff where lovely also

The food is amazing here, everytime I eat as if I've been starved for days. They have a fantastic selection of foods, a lot that are unique but never disappoint. The staff never fail to be friendly and accommodating, and the service is always efficient. I can't begin to explain how much I like it here.

Awful service, they asked us to move to to smaller table in the middle of having my cup of the tea. trying to chill out. I refused so they came with the machine asking for the money . What a disgrace , I have been in Uk 20 years I had never been asked to move so they can have more business/ money . Terrible approaching to customer service .

The Emporium in Westminster Park is a hidden gem. Food gorgeous. Staff always helpful. Super atmosphere, and very dog friendly. They also have wine tasting evenings which you don't want to miss!

Thriving cafe in Chester suburb. I enjoy visiting for breakfast on a Saturday morning. They have a lovely selection of indulgent pastries, which I like to choose from to accompany a coffee. There are also cooked food options and great homemade cakes for afters, on display at the counter. My advice is to get there early, tables fill up fast, this is a popular place. Staff are friendly and helpful, offering table service, which is splendid.

Great local cafe, always a buzzing atmosphere, brilliant quality food, brilliant coffees, extensive specials. Also open in evenings with different evenings (wine tasting events) held regularly.

Outstanding brunch!! It's definitely a bit out of the way from town centre, but we're planning to work this into a riverside walk the next time we visit Chester. :)

Delicious food, great wine & excellent service. Our first visit yesterday evening won't be our last.

A friend of mine took me here for lunch a few weeks back, and I've been back two or three times since. I took my wife for a little lunch-date and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was quick, despite the restaurant being full (we got the last table). My wife wasn't initially going to have a desert, but with the standard of the mains being so high it wasn't hard to convince her. The cakes are in a chiller by the counter, but when I noticed it was missing, I mentioned "I normally have the cappuccino cake, but it looks like it's sold out" one of the chefs overheard and offered to get a fresh one ready. He said he had the sponge ready, and just needed to pop some icing on it! Winner winner! Overall, a really lovely place with welcoming staff and great food, in a really cosy setting.

Always love coming here - great choice from coffee.and cakes right through to delicious meals and a wide range of wines. Add to that a cheese counter to takeaway and it's almost a perfect place hidden at the end of a row of shops!

Not a cheap breakfast, over £30 for a couple of breakfasts with 2 coffees and a tea, bot the quality was excellent. Lovely place, great atmosphere and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Good variety on menu too, just a little pricey

Favourite place! Recently went for Christmas wine tasting and the food and drinks were incredible! I can’t eat dairy and they were so accommodating- every dish was catered to my needs even when I only mentioned it as I arrived! Can’t fault The Emporium!

Contacted thinking we would book for a meal - to discover there was a cheese and wine event on. Well….. one of the best experiences, what a night, chat and explanation from the owner, fantastic combinations of cheese and wine, making for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Can’t recommend enough - you must come .

Just been here with my friend for brunch....the service off Jenny was great & our food was presented well & tasted fab. The place was busy & ambiance just perfect for us. We walked as local for us but there is parking here.

Such a lovely, relaxing family run place. Mum and I have passed many an hour sitting here enjoying perfect coffee and the best sourdough toast and accompanying locally made jam, marmalade and lemon curd. My dog is made so welcome with special treats and lots of fuss. Beautiful range of wines, beers and speciality drinks. Lots of special tasting evenings with foods and drinks from around the world. Visited Emporium with a friend today. Such an amazing place to visit! Food was INSANE -must try- , lovely hot and cold drinks - I had both- and a big range of delicatessen products to take home. Excellent place!

Stopped of for breakfast this morning before heading off for Suffolk. This was a tip from friends so had to try it out. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast; excellently prepared and served by delightful, courteous staff. Not only does the Emporium serve superb food and drinks but also some outstanding breads and pastries along with a small selection of deli groceries. Can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you for a great start to the day.

We had a perfect evening at the Emporium. The food was amazing and it had a really chilled atmosphere. The staff were super welcoming to us and our dog, even set out a little place for her with dog treats. A real find and we would highly recommend.

Lovely imaginative little cafe with friendly staff but the prices are very expensive! We paid £3.75 EACH for very thin slices of cake and the same price for a large pack of mediocre crisps! The meal prices may be better value for money?

A special little gem just 5 minutes from our house.

Really lovely place good food and produce good service Portions are a little small and thus a little expensive. Great coffee and teas also wine and beer. Surroundings are lovely and clean. There is a step to get into the cafe but possible for a manual wheelchair uses with suppot

Lovely little deli with a great variety of produced. Lovely to see The Bear Bakery breads and patisseries stocked. Local business supporting local business. The food was delicious and the coffee was great. Staff super friendly and helpful.

Really interesting menu which is all very well executed, we tried pretty much everything on the menu! Very wide selection of wines also and the 2 we had were great, service was attentive but not annoying, we will be back soon!

Lovely and just a bit different. Smallish lunch menu but prepared perfectly and full of flavour. Not expensive for the quality. You can just have a coffee or a glass of wine. Or a piece of home made cake! Excellent parking right outside

Very nice Bistro in Westminster Park. The staff here are very attentive and helpful. The food and drink were both great, and of high quality. I opted for an iced-latte and some sourdough-toast (for breakfast), both which I would highly reccomend. Well worth a visit.

Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening in August 2021: Small but cozy bistro type restaurant serving an interesting variety of tasty, tapas dishes. Attentive, friendly service. Wide variety of wines on offer and all within walking distance. Highly recommended.

Very nice new deli and cafe, suitable for any time of day. Very attentive staff and excellent service. We had coffee and then a light lunch - both good quality. They also have a good wine list and deli items. I'll definitely go again.

My friends and I went to The Emporium last night, I'd wanted to go as I've always enjoyed my visits to The Old Grocery in Hawarden. For me it's not just the amazing food which is always a delight, I love that they do such a good vegan range and will try to accommodate other dishes for vegans too. Its also their decor, lighting, glasses!! Their attention to detail doesn't go unnoticed nor do their friendly staff. The Emporium is another success and I suggest everyone should try it.

Brilliant addition to the Westminster Park shops. Great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks! Would certainly recommend!
