Hotel rooms are decent, clean, we had the river view room so its amazing to start the day with the view. Hotel has restaurant, or restaurant has hotel hard to say :), which serves very very very delicious food and the cocktails are great 👍🏻 you can even come only for breakfast, plates are abundant and tasty 😋

I celebrated my recent birthday with 14 friends for a Saturday lunch. Despite a busy resterant and a wedding in the room next door we had use of a quieter back room and one member of staff dedicated to our group. It was excellent, food lovely and service great. I would do this again!

Lovely place. I took my son there for his birthday. The service was fantastic, the food was lovely. Portions a bit on the large side. Everything about the place was great. My son got a free drink from the host, which was a very lovely gesture . Thanks for a fantastic service. We had a great time.

We are increasingly turning to the Embankment Hotel for celebration meals with friends and family. Without doubt you can be guaranteed a warm welcome, fantastic food with a good range to suit every age and taste. Extremely helpful with allergy information and catering for special needs. We were carefully attended by a lovely caring lady whose name I have sadly forgotten and an excellent trainee called Harvey who did a great and efficient job caring for our party. The Embankment has a warm and homely feel matched by a highly competent staff. Another great family meal out enjoyed by us all . Thank you.

Having all stayed, wined, dined and eaten at the Embankment it's about time I left a review. The coffee, whether it's a request for an iced coffee on a freezing day or a flat white with choc on top or any other funny quirk and extra step of an order I have it's never problem which is so lovely and offered with a smile or if I'd like to try a new syrup. The food, firstly it must be said, Devi's breakfasts are and always will be my favourite, apart from the other main menus the kitchen really do smash out some wicked specials and even when I'm not eating I love to have a peak! The rooms are so beautiful accompanied by extremely cozy beds, with wonderful views of the river and if you can get the room with the bath, you're in for an amazing treat! Lastly the FOH staff, there are so many amazing people there, Aga, Katie, Michelle, Luke, Tom, Frankie, Alex, Bea, Erin & Ruth just to name a few! (Sorry I know I've missed some good ones) the staff really do make it! Oh and special mention to Duncan and Charlie who also make the embankment what it is 💗 So put simply it's just good times, good food and good views. (Oh and so dog friendly, it's worth a visit if you have one or not to see them all 😍)

Lovely hotel which seems to be as old as the city itself. Floors, stairs, bar, etc. are made in wood, really old, and offer a lot of charm. Service and room are correct and you get a warm welcome at arrival. Special mention about the beakfast for non-English people. It seems to be so expensive (36€!) but you'll get a breakfast which looks like a dinner in Europe. If you're familiar wich such breakfast, it should be worth it. Speaking of eating&drinking, the room contains everything to make yourself a coffee or a tea. There is even a couple of biscuits. As for negative points. Noise insulation could be improved in the room, let's say it's part of the charm. Quick, cheaper and European-like breakfast would be a great offer. WiFi and GSM networks were almost off in the room, a little annoying for making phone calls or meetings. Nothing to say about the parking since I used a taxi.

Arrived for a breakfast and had to ask twice for our table to be cleaned. Then our breakfast arrived and the cutlery was dirty. We were offered no condiments or salt and pepper? We had ‘smarties’ in an open bowl? With our sugar and milk that were stale! On leaving we watched staff petting customers dogs while handling plates of food and cutlery? With no gloves! We will definitely not be returning, such a shame this used to be such a lovely place to attend 😢

My Mum and I stayed overnight here in August 2024 on route elsewhere. I wish we had been able to stay longer. We had a warm welcome when checking in. What a wonderful location right opposite the river, perfect for walking the dog. We counted 22 swans on our first evening walk! Very dog friendly and welcoming which was such a change from other places we have stayed which say they are dog friendly but actually are not. We had a great big room and the hotel was very quiet (considering its a pub). Parking on site and on the road opposite. Free wifi worked well. Lovely little touches with the food (smarties with the coffee) and we ate in the front of the bar area overlooking the river. Thank you very much for looking after us so well. We will return for sure.

Had my sisters birthday breakfast here the last time we were here, terrible service, from bringing the wrong drinks out, food came out at different times, people were finishing eating as others were starting, been here a few times and the service has been the same each time, unsure if it's poor management or staff just don't care. A discount was given for the mistakes but A real shame as a lovely place and location.

our room looked completely different to the photos advertised. I paid for a superior family room- two single beds pushed together. Our toddler had to sleep in between us as there was no bedding for the sofa bed, said cot provided in the room. No cot. The shower didn't work. The bathroom was dated and bath was not clean. Photos online showed that the superior room had a roll top bath and walk in shower, looked modern. Quite the opposite. Staff were very accommodating on arrival- but unpleasant during breakfast, they were rude and short with us, not a good selection of food for toddlers. We were told a beer had been charged to our room, which none of us had. £15 charge we had to pay on arrival, for the dog. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch, which was very lovely. I had a beef roast dinner which was very tasty. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and helpful. There is a small car park to the rear which we thankfully managed to get a spot but there are plenty of on road parking (you may need to arrive early to get a spot near - being by the river, it is very popular in good weather). To then walk the lovely food off with a stroll along the river - it is a lovely location

Lost its food focus. Camembert starter no longer has camembert as main event. Instead no longer full or even half a camembert, but three small slices swamped in honey. The staff agreed and took it back to the kitchen where they rejected any issue and sent it straight back. The suggested Wague burger was actually just two thin tough as boots slices with chips. It was mis-sold but the specials board did actually state it was sold as steak. Big expectations, but I feel cost cutting portions sizes and food quality is a big let down on what is one of Bedford's best located restaurants.

The embankment Hotel is situated in a beautiful part of Bedford overlooking the River and Park and looks very inviting. However me and my lady didn't have a great experience after booking a table for an early birthday dinner.😡👎the staff were welcoming no problems with the staff, yet 😤.... firstly we went to the bar and waited quite a while to be served eventually bought a round of drinks but were discouraged from using cash to pay they were quite insistent on paying by card the reason for this will become clearer near the end of my true and honest review. We were taken to a table for two and told staff will be over shortly to take our order. On first glance the table didn't look very clean and was quite sticky to touch 👎so resting your arms across the table to hold hands wasn't possible. We ordered a bottle of red wine and some water which came very fast the water was nice and cold and the glasses were clean. The red wine was poured for us and was very nice indeed. When our waiter came over he was very pleasant and knew it was my birthday I didn't like him asking us what gifts I'd received. The hotel were informed that our visit was for a birthday treat as they had asked the reason we were visiting on the day of booking there was no actual reason for them knowing as they didn't give us a complimentary drink it seemed absolutely pointless in them knowing. ☹️ so the waiter then presented us with a specials chalk board with the daily menu which looked amazing we questioned him on what each item was as it was written in French and we were quite taken aback at his lack of knowledge as to the menu items we had to correct him on one item telling him it was chicken.... 🥺😳 we both liked the sound of the chicken dish and said we would like two of these only to be told at early doors that they'd sold out. 😡 disappointed we tried to order another item and this was also sold out. We then proceeded to look at the table menu and asked if we could have the steak and ale pie only to be told there will be a long wait on this dish and would we like to order a starter to nibble on😡 we ordered olives and garlic bread as we felt compelled to do so, the olives were nice not very impressed with the garlic bread tho. We then waited and waited and after an hour and a half our meals finaly arrived, on booking we were also told we must vacate the table after an hour and forty five minutes which made no sense as we waited this long to be served our substandard meal ☹️ On first glance I could tell the pie had been over cooked and the overall look wasn't inviting. The cabbage was hard to chew and swallow the pastry on the pie was salty and very hard to cut into there was allot of salt used in the pie and in the mash potatoes. Our plates were not hot and the food wasn't very warm like it had been left and forgotten about I didn't finish my meal as it wasn't very appetising. We had our table cleared and we're asked if we wanted desert but to be honest we just wanted out. Both of us very disappointed in our experience we just wanted to go home.. eventually we decided to make our way to the bar and pay. We offered to pay in cash but they didn't want cash as when you pay by card you are basically forced to pay a tip not even given the opportunity to decline. 😡😡😡 so we paid and left. 🤢🤢🤢🥶 I had to use the gents toilets during our evening and was confronted with a very smelly and quite unventilated room there was toilet paper on the floors and the room felt very dirty this realy puts me off when visiting a restaurant. 🤢🤢🤢 So overall I'll give this place a thumbs down 👎would I visit again I'd say a resounding NO. In my opinion the establishment needs a full deep clean and or decorate plus the management needs to sit down and talk about how to best improve the customer experience. In my very humble opinion 👎👎👎🐕🦺🦝 in hindsight we should have just paid for our drinks and left when the menu was found not to be of any use. I hope my review finds you in good faith this is a true and accurate review of our visit. No pictures🤮

That’s how the bar staff served as G&T at Embankment Hotel last night! In white wine small glass with no garnish of lemon or lime or anything, he had to drink tonic separately as the glass was too small to pour it in! Not to mention waiting for 20min to be served! Went here for an impromptu dinner with my kids, as had passed the place a few times and was keen to check it out. I wouldn't recommend this place at all - food took 40 mins to arrive, staff members were arguing amongst each other, and there were no basics like napkins, salt sachets, and such like. Just glad none of us got food poisoning, as the place is far from well run.
