Lovely venue, lovely team, fantastic setting, good food, good drinks. Whether an intimate occasion for a couple or a large event (such as a wedding) this is the place to book.

I decided to try the Sunday Lunch. Roast beef at £21. I was given a choice of how I wanted the beef cooked and it was tender. Vegetables were well cooked and tasty. However, the food could have been much hotter. Any colder and I would have sent it back. I think there could have been more quantity for the price. Just 2 roast spuds and only a small amount of gravy. The yorkshire pudding was vastly overcooked and dry to the point of inedible. In all I would agree with what the other reviewers have said. Also not happy about the service charge that was not mentioned anywhere on the menu or website. Overall just about scrapes 3 stars.

First room shower was useless next day room full of ants. Moved to room up stairs. Shower worked, two thirds of the tv channels didn't work. Breakfast nothing to write home about.

What a place! Great setting right on the river. Really nice gardens out front with picnic benches. Food was really enjoyable. Enjoyed it and will be back.

This place doesn’t get enough credit . I had the fish and chips and it was delicious. By far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had ! The service was excellent, very attentive, friendly and speedy . Location is gorgeous too ! Will definitely be back very soon .

The location is good in relation to Bedford and the hotel, the oldest part of which dates back around 200 years, is well preserved. The superior room was clean and comfortable, perhaps the toilet could work better in the bathroom. As for the restaurant, good breakfast with menu choice, for dinner while recognizing the good will, too many ingredients used for the Italian taste which appreciates simplicity and service a little slow.

We had Sunday lunch which was delicious. The staff were very pleasant and courteous.

Have been for dinner a couple of times now, as its a beautiful pub/hotel by the river. We love to sit outside when the weather is nice. Food is tasty, with decent value for money. And the staff are always lovely.

Very busy and went without a booking couldn't of helped to get us a table enough ..lovely staff and food was great .

Stopped for dinner this time, absolutely beautiful. Had the soup starter, epic butternut squash, followed by the dirty burger. Will use again. Service was really good aswell

Just went for a meal as it was a convenient location for us. It was in early February, so I couldn't get the best of the river views that the summer would have, but nevertheless, nice views from the restaurant. Service was good food was good I would go again. The only downside was the ubiquitous "discretionary service charge" that appears to have become the norm in pubs bars and restaurants. I hope those who work in places that do this pay 10% to 12% on every item they buy from every shop, garage, or service they partake in.

I have stayed here many years ago and my stay was really good but recently I met family here for lunch. There was 20 of us, great selection of food on the menu, all meals were served up hot and tasted really nice, I personally recommend the sea bass which was served with coconut rice and Chinese vegetables, absolutely delicious! Would definitely eat here again when I’m in the area.

Good resturant and food and service is good. Food is super tasty. Price is a bit high but affordable with a discount voucher. Could be a regular resturant if prices are reduced.

Had lunch with four friends. Great food great service .Really enjoyable.

Went for an afternoon tea, location, venue and ambience was great, food was exquisite and very filling, good quality tea and coffee, however, the staff were miserable, no happy greeting, no checking, is the food OK? Then when the bill came, we had been charged for a coffee that was supposed to be included and despite there only being two of us, a £5.85 service charge added. I asked the waitress to amend the discrepancies and she stormed off in a huff! The table next to us noticed and said 'use my discount card, as I have been here 5 times this week for business meetings and the way she has just behaved...you deserve it. When the waitress arrived with our amended bill I explained that the lady next to us had offered us her discount, she snatched the card off me and yet again, stormed off in a huff. Customer service here needs to be seriously looked into. A smile goes a long way, general chit chat or even faking an interest in the customer, makes a difference. The staff were indifferent and then damn right rude!

Beautiful location, lovely interior, tasty food. Went there in the hope for afternoon tea but with 2 tables in a very large dining space been told nothing available and have to pre-book. We ordered their pizza instead which was tasty. Atmosphere a bit sad, Sunday afternoon very quiet, but even if it was busy it would have been nicer if they wouldn't have stuffed every single crevice with a table and chairs. Staff clueless, from ca 5 people we encountered only one seem to have been working longer there than an hour ago. (Kids menu? Don't know. How to get to the riverside terrace? Don't know, is there one?).

Nice place for weddings but 're mortgage before you go as drinks are very expensive

Everything about the Kingfisher was perfect. My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. The customer service was excellent, there wasn’t anything that couldn’t be done. The restaurant was warm, quiet and inviting and our food and drinks were delicious! Will definitely be back. Thank you to the incredible team.

I took my wife and son, for a meal there to celebrate my 70th birthday. We were received by 2 very polite receptionist, and was shown to a very nice table near the bar. The meal was of high quality with first class table service. The whole experience was very good and one that we will repeat again.

Cosy hotel just outside Bedford. Rooms are big, beds comfortable. Very good a la carte breakfast.

Incompetent staff, booking tables are hassle for the staff. Drove in to find out they didn't book in for the right day. No apology and wouldn't be dropping by. I was considering this place for the wedding venue, but I would be avoiding this.

I attended a workshop in the Northill Suite on a day of heavy rains and I was blown over by the staff’s professionalism and overall sense of calm while they dealt with the flooding all around the hotel and car parks. Our event went ahead without a hitch and not a single cutback in service levels. I felt safe and kept informed throughout the day.

Came here for my brother’s wedding. The staff were incredibly hospitable. Breakfast was lovely every morning with options to have freshly cooked and then a buffet style option too. Rooms were comfortable but a little on the colder side.

I took a friend for afternoon tea, we were looked after by a very pleasant young man. He listened to what was needed & my friend who's birthday it was throughly enjoyed it. It's a very nice classy place to be.

Visited first time following recommendations of friends. The area is fantastic, the venue after renovations can cater for functions. I was curious about the dining - restaurant really looks nice. We chose seating outside by the river. I ordered by the bar- the tapas option- order was mixed up- not received one item despite promises it was coming- in the end apologies from the staff that it was not put on the order. Me and my partner had to chase up cutlery, and drink ordering by the bar was hectic- drink brought twice, but forgot to take payment. I will give it another chance despite my disappointment with the service.

Went there sat to celebrate our dear friends wedding what a beautiful hotel and location. From the welcoming reception to our barman BEN top bloke who held the fort all evening when we attempted to dance and had to hear us sing . We'll done to all will definitely be coming back to stay or just have a wonderful meal .

Came here for a meal and it has been decorated beautifully. Staff very attentive maybe a little bit too much of whipping away of glasses the minute they are empty but very polite and helpful. Unfortunately the food was a let down. My tatertots could have been bought in a supermarket with a bit of cheese on top. Pork burnt ends were ok but some a bit too burnt and hard. Not much flavour. My friends seafood pasta had a lovely amount of different shellfish but the sauce was far too rich and he left most of it. Realised when I got home that my decaf cappuccino was definitely not decaf as I was awake until 3am!. They need to up their game foodwise.

I stayed here for a night. It’s a cute hotel on the river. it’s clean and friendly. I had a pretty awful room facing the car park. Water pressure in the shower was non existent. I assume there are better rooms with nicer views. Breakfast was ok, but not going to win any awards.

Absolute great find as a wedding venue, very well catered and hosted. Lee and Mia were both fantastic and hosted us very professionally. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a wedding venue. Rooms are spacious with both shower and bath and the bed was very comfortable.

Roast beef Sunday lunch. The beef was very fatty with 20% left on side of plate. Vegetables were ok. The main was disappointing overall. The dessert, sticky toffee and ice cream was very nice but overpriced. Service was slow to table, ordering the main course was 45mins after we got seated.

Excellent on every level. Food was amazing and very reasonable prices. Service was great. Someone at our table spilt hot tea on my daughter by accident and they jumped straight into action with cold towels and burn gel. Very impressed with everything

Although it was just for lunch, the service was impeccable, the food was hot and the restaurant surroundings were in sight of the river.
