came here for the second time!! Ordered something surprised me more! Love the food !!and staff were friendly and responsive How can pork chop buns be so delicious! Satay beef kale is an unexpected surprise! The Niuhe hot pot is full of excitement and the Nanyang curry takes me back to Southeast Asia in a second

If I had reviewed this place after my first visit, it would be 4 stars. But my second experience was not good (2 stars). They have a great variety of food on the menu, and most of it is done well -- by European standards. (If you are from Hong Kong, you may be disappointed.) I really wanted curry fish balls and that's why we came. The fish balls were okay. Not as spicy as I like. The cheung fun was really nice. I also quite enjoyed the brisket egg rice. It was done with skill, in the style not many restaurants do. You get a lot of rice! The beef was a good cut although you don't get a lot. Duck was just okay. The second visit was terrible. We arrived with friends from Hong Kong when it opened, excited to share this place with them. The entire place stank of toilet and sewage. That was off-putting from the beginning. My friends and I looked over the menu and were eager to have good HK lunch. Everything we wanted was not available! How is nothing available as soon as you open? They eventually had to settle for dishes they weren't that interested in since we were already there. I also could not have what I wanted, so I just had fish balls and nothing else. They were not as good as the previous visit. Flavourless. Everything came out sort of cold or lukewarm. My friends were not very impressed with their food. Nothing like HK. We all left a little annoyed. Service is pretty bad, even for a Chinese restaurant. I know it is Soho but the food is way too expensive for the portion size. Poor value.

Delicious Cantonese BBQ, 100% worth waiting for dine in.

Really impressed! We came on a Thursday for lunch, there was no queue. We did have to wait a while for the staff to come and take any of our order which was slightly frustrating. They have an extensive menu which we loved. The food came out as it was ready and it was all really delicious. We had the side of broccoli, salt and pepper prawns, pork belly rice (not pictured but the pork was sooo good), duck and cashew prawns. Overall, it was all really good, and really fairly priced, we were perfectly full. Would definitely go back (even with the service!)

It's a Hong Kong style cafe. We didn't book a table, so we waited about 20 minutes (to me, it was OK for a Friday night) We got served pretty quickly, and the food was absolutely amazing 👏

I visited with a friend recently. This restaurant is very busy and a wait is usually required though we didn’t wait too long. The staff are efficient and the dining room very busy. There is a good range of dishes available and everything we ordered was very nice. The staff were friendly but at times seemed quite stretched which meant at times we were waiting. Would definitely visit again and recommend.

Came when there was a long line, it does go fast to get a table, but expect to be put together with people you don’t know on at the same table. There’s not really clear communication between the waiters and us customers and they don’t bother to repeat themselves. It’s very noisy in there so it’s impossible to have a comfortable conversation with your other half. The waiter was quite rude when we didn’t reply first time to the dish he was serving to us, because of the loud noises in the restaurant so we were confused what he said until he started yelling in frustration our dish to us… we felt very uneasy afterwards and lost our appetite from that. The food was alright. Would say average or under. Wouldn’t go here again.

Service very poor. The waiter looked rather bored and impatient. When my friend asked what vegetables are in prawn dish he answered: “Chinese”. When she asked for names he said: “green”. The food arrived very quickly, literally in next 5 mins. It was good but nothing exciting - average. Portions small for the price, comparing to other places in China Town. Salt and pepper prawns were very dry. Very loud. Toilets disgusting. Won’t go back there.

Lovely food and atmosphere. I've had dinner here with my girlfriend a few times and enjoyed various items on the menu.

Very nice experience, and seated quickly. I had the Gon Cau Ngau Ho (Dry Stir Fried Ho Fun with Beef) which was authentic and had a very large portion. Pricing is similar to regular London pricing, not too high but not particularly cheap either. They offer some drinks that you could get in Hong Kong include HK Lemon tea and Horlicks.

Great food & service. Staff very kind to explain everything. Their vulcaino dish and curries are great. Thumbs up will return.

You can eat authentic Hong Kong food in London, but it tastes good. You must try the ecstasy rice. The roasted rice is not the best. It is very delicious.

Delicious food, but disappointing service – here's what went wrong during our visit to The Eight Restaurant. Pros: - The food was genuinely delicious. I had a lovely meal, and everything came out super fast. - The menu offers a good variety, and everything we tried was cooked well. - The Hong Kong milk tea was relatively delicious. Cons: - The service was very disappointing. A waiter accidentally dropped oil all over my friend’s shorts, which damaged them. The waiter’s response was less than helpful – he only provided a flannel with sparkling water to clean it up and didn’t seem too concerned. - To make matters worse, he slapped down the bill as if to rush us out, while even laughing with his colleagues. It felt very unprofessional. - We were only given a 10% discount, which didn’t really make up for the situation or the damage caused to my friend’s clothing. On top of that a 12.5% service charge was still charged! Food within the pictures: - Signature Hainanese chicken with rice - Baked fried rice with pork chop in curry and coconut In summary, while the food was delicious, the service left a lot to be desired. Hopefully, management takes more care in training staff to handle such incidents better in the future, very disappointing! I would have given service no stars if possible.

Will not visit again. Decor is nice and clean inside but just a standard restaurant. Flavours not exceptional or above average. The best portion was on the small side. The noodle dish was charred and had a burnt over taste. Their signature bbq dish was just a standard tasting meal. Nothing special for the price. The server was impatient and used foul language when we changed our order. Will not return, better tasting food and better service nearby.

A solid go-to restaurant . Had a great waiter called Uncle Tom (i believe) who had such a great personality and we received lovely service from him <3 love this place. I recommend the monk vegetables and pineapple bun. Never disappointed, never close down please <3

"The Eight" is my go-to Hong Kong-style restaurant in London, especially when I'm catching up with friends in Chinatown. Every dish here is fantastic, but my absolute favorite is the black truffle seafood fried rice-the rich truffle aroma perfectly blends with the fried rice, and the prawns are super fresh. I also highly recommend their rice noodle rolls and fried chicken wings; the flavors are spot on and authentically Hong Kong. The restaurant has a bright and spacious setting with comfortable seating, and the staff are always warm and friendly. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the owner even celebrates by giving out delicious mooncakes to diners, adding a festive touch to the experience. If you're in London and love Hong Kong-style tea spots, you've got to check out "The Eight"!

The service is really good, very friendly, which is a bonus for the waiter. The barbecue portion for the double set was a bit too small at 20 pounds. There were only three pieces of roast duck with remaining meat, skin and bones. pity! The fried rice noodles were ok.

Tourist trap. Cantonese food done horribly wrong. This restaurant is located along the perimeter of Chinatown, near the theater district. The selling point is its prime location and the fact that it advertises Cantonese cuisine. However, the food is absolutely horrible! The meats were dry; and the sauces were very thick, over powering and harsh to the point that you can't taste what food you are eating. The vegetable were over cooked as well. The portions are small and the food was not well presented. The quality was poor. The service and decor were average. The restrooms were dirty. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. -- Tourist from the U.S.A.

I love this Hong Kong style restaurant, some of the dishes are quite contemporary too, there were lots of yummy dishes at very reasonable prices.

The closest thing to a Hong Kong lunch: Yeung Chow fried rice, Char Siu, and Kai Lan. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is very clean.

I walked away satisfied, but I’d say overall it’s a hit or miss with all the dishes I ordered. Some dishes were amazing, but others were not the authentic HK taste. Three Kinds BBQ over Rice: All three were so good. The pork was super crispy. Char siu was tasty and the duck wasn’t dry. 8/10 Satay Beef Pineapple Bun: The satay beef flavor had a weird peanut-buttery taste with just lots of black pepper. Did not have a classic satay beef flavor. The pineapple bun was also not great. Bun was dry and seemed more like a brioche which isn’t what you want for a pineapple bun, and the topping was not crunchy or the right taste. 3/10 Choy Sum: Super tasty, crunchy, and fresh. 8/10 Salted Egg Fish Skin: So crispy and perfect. The salted egg flavor on them create such a nice texture in the mouth. Definitely the best dish we ordered 9/10 Shark Fin Soup: Not the HK taste it should’ve been but still not bad. When I asked for vinegar, they gave me black vinegar which is not traditionally the correct pairing - should’ve been red 7/10 Wonton Soup: Bouncy shrimp wontons. Tasty and the soup was good! 8/10

I took my daughter to see a show and we came for some food before the people were lovely the food was amazing and when we are back in the area we will be coming in again can't wait

Pretty decent. The seafood truffle rice was very good indeed. The roast duck clearly has an alternative recipe to the more traditional…I liked it but my wife did not. Pork was good - not too fatty, which suited my tastes. Sesame flat noodles V tasty!

Tried the pineapple bun with butter which was quite good. Also had a 2 roast meat with rice which was very disappointing. The roast meat looks better than it tastes and nowhere compared to restaurants like Four Seasons. The service was satisfactory and ambience was good. Overall, an average place to eat.

A stunning restaurant very close to Chinatown, good and fast service. We ordered Fried Rice arrived in less than 3 minutes very nice staff. Prices are fine. The rice serving was very large and indulgent, we asked for hot sauce to add and the sauce they brought us was the most delicious sauce we have tasted so far when you are there ask for hot sauce and you will taste it in short a recommended place very tasty and nice come there

The Eight serves proper Hong Kong style food. There is usually a long queue outside and no reservations are allowed. We came before rush hour and were seated soon after. The portions here is big and sharing would be ideal. Our wanton soup, 2 variety meat platter and sweet and sour pork is good. The char siew (bbq pork) especially was tender and delicious. Food came out of the kitchen fast and you can clearly see that the turnover rate here is fast to allow a shorter table wait for those waiting to dine in. Good food, good service.

Was lucky enough to come in with no queue during dinner time on a Friday night. I ordered several items, including the prawn wontons, pineapple bun, turnip cakes and a volcano egg on rice. The food itself was incredible, and was so flavourful and very much on brand for Hong Kong cha chaan teng foods. Highly recommend!

Food is so so. There is a tiny print somewhere saying that minimum expense for each person is €15. Would never have gone in if we knew it in advance in the restaurant.

Great place to taste authentic Hong Kong food. This restaurant is different from other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown simply by not rushing their customers to order their food. Can get very busy at meal times but no issue for us as we got there before 6pm.

Decent Chinese food. Very clean tables and chairs. Wide selection of food. Not cheap but big portions though.

poor service, they make you pay and leave as soon as you finished your food, even though you do not want to leave. you have to queue and wait outside of the restaurant even though there are empty seats inside

The restaurant is easy to access, just opposite to the tube station. Their food quality is above the standard, especially the stir fried products. Last time when I visited, my order was missing however they followed within 5-10 mins.

The Hong Kong style food here is absolutely delicious! I waited long time for my dish (volcano egg on rice with curry beef brisket), but the wait is totally worth it! The beef brisket is tender and soft with great favor. My husband love the Eight Signature BBQ pork rice, the BBQ pork is not fat and tastes just right. The salty egg yolk toasted as dessert is the unbelievably delicious. The Hong Kong Style milk tea is authentic and tastes the same like what I had in Hong Kong. I wish we have restaurant this good in the US. Also, unlike other restaurants in London, the portion in this restaurant is nice and big, we were very full after lunch!

Decent if you know what to order! The salted egg yolk toast is a must for dessert. We’ve got the volcano egg curry beef brisket and rice, satay beef lo mien, black truffle sea food truffle rice and the pasta with Lao gan ma. The winning dish was the black trouble seafood truffle rice and it’s amazing!

The food is very good. It may even taste better than some restaurants in HK. But the air conditioner/ventilation at the corner seat is not cleaned in detail. There was a few dust snowing.

When we got to Chinatown, we were a bit lost, not knowing what to choose. The first establishment we entered had such a strange smell that we didn't even want to stay there. Even from the street, we liked the atmosphere at The Eight. And in fact, it turned out to be cozy there, with very friendly staff. Fast service, tasty food and sufficient portion sizes. Everything is clean and tidy. Two glasses of wine, noodle with seafood, chicken and rice cost £46

No single authentic meal from this restaurant. Both my parent visited there as it was their day off and this ruined their entire day. The food was super expensive, cold and not authentic. They were disappointed with this and hope that everyone should avoid this unless you wanna waste your money for nothing!💥

Bad. Sorry I have to be honest, we ordered a chicken and tomato baked rice, a garlic pork chop instand noodle and a French toast. First of all, the food, any small stall on the road side in Hongkong can easily defeat you in a culinary competition, I actually meant it lol. That baked rice, bland and tasteless, only taste we got is tomato sauce. Secondly, the noodle, ouf where should I start. It smells good but same as above…. Bland. The authentic version of it should contain the taste of lard and juicy crispy pork chop, neither on it. Have to give credit to the French toast, it recover like 50/100 points. Furthermore, service, the other most important thing as a restaurant besides food. As a 5 years restaurant manager and currently owner of 2 different restaurants, I have to say the service here is a big no no. The waiter who served us, give no care, work like a emotionless zombie and not responsive. During the whole dinner experience, they don’t even check on us once. At least, try to pretend you love your job mate, I mean…. It’s part of your job.

Staff are not at all nice they very good ignoring delivery drivers when we are nice. But if i was customer they treat like the most important. Bad brand has a driver i will never spent my money there as customer. Cause the way they treat delivery drivers is not good at all.

The baked curry chicken was absolutely delicious! The chicken was cooked to perfection - tender and juicy on the inside with a beautifully crisp skin on the outside. The curry seasoning was flavorful but not overpowering, with a nice blend of warming spices that complemented the chicken perfectly. It was clear the chef put a lot of care and attention into preparing this dish. I'll definitely be ordering the baked curry chicken again on my next visit!

Wonton soup noodles had very strong and unpleasant smell. I guess the chef didn’t cook the noodles properly ( some noodles stuck together) and didn’t drain the noodles properly. Anyway! The chicken rice was nice and tasty. I liked the rice very much.

Very nice food, came out to our table very quickly, staff all polite and made small talk, would recommend if passing around. One of the best Chinese restaurants in London in my opinion. Definitely a go-to if you are out and about and need a quick hearty meal. My best experience of London Chinese food by far. Would come again.

I have visited this place once before but didn’t get to try the “Volcano curry rice”, the one’s on the photo. I got the Volcano curry rice with seafood - It was PHENOMENAL! I have never enjoyed a meal in a long time. My reaction was literally “WoW”. As soon as the food came, it looks appetizing made me wanting ASAP. The service is outstanding. Extremely friendly yet with fast paced. They will recommend the food making the experience more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend 100% especially the Volcano Rice Curry with seafood.

Honestly, this place is amazing, we had a great meal of four courses for such an affordable price, the food is presently beautifully and the taste was even better, true Cantonese food that everybody will enjoy! We picked the Stir Fried Beef Ho Fun, the Hai Nan Chicken Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork and the Cha Siu Pork Rice. This was all in giant portions for the price and we recommend this to any traveller looking for a great authentic meal in London! keep the work going, this was an extraordinary experience!

Tastes okay but not sure what about the hype

Omg! Amazing food, fresh , good taste, the service was quick and very personal which is surprising given the sheer amount of tables and guests. The portion was good, we had two soups, a rice and a noodle and we had some leftovers too which was tastefully packed. Cannot recommend enough.

The staff at this place are well trained and happy to serve. Ah Boy in particular, mannerisms, friendliness, languages abilities and willingness to help is refreshing. Service is five star dining. Food Yummy

I recently visited The Eight Restaurant for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. The Cantonese food tasted just like it does in Hong Kong—so delicious! Every dish was full of amazing flavours. The service was great too. The man who served us was really helpful and friendly. He made our visit even better by recommending dishes and being so nice. Overall, The Eight Restaurant has tasty traditional Cantonese food and excellent service. I highly recommend it!

Average, very average, very average. Mainly I'm disappointed that it's so hard to find one with good ratings. The food tastes average, not freshly made, and the dim sum is just lukewarm.

Went for dinner there today, food is surprisingly good, (the sweet and sour pork is a must try!!) price overall is reasonable and extremely excellent service from the waiter who called 历!:) Would revisit again!! 👍

Highly recommend The Eight to anyone visiting Chinatown! They have a lot of options and everything we had was really good, portions are also quite big.

Giving it five stars. Came in with 5 people dinner on Saturday night, had to queue for a short while about 25 mins. We got table downstairs and has a lot of space. The menu is quite extensive and we randomly ordered a few of our favourite HK style dishes. Fifteen odd minutes pass and the dishes start arriving one by one and by the time it had all arrived flour table was full of the dishes we ordered. We were all amazed at the quality of each of the dishes, they were very well presented, plentiful and most importantly the taste and aroma was divine. Closing my eyes I felt I was in food heaven as each bite and taste of each dish burst in my mouth. I’ve taken photos of the dishes I’ve ordered which I highly recommend and I certainly will be coming again !

Ordered the roasted duck and barbecued pork rice. The roast duck gave me four leftover bones! ! ! ! The barbecued pork is made from air-dried wood and has only a little sugary taste. In twenty years of eating barbecued pork, I have never tasted such bad barbecued pork rice and roasted duck. Shocking, how can you open a store to sell this? ?

One of the BEST Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in London. Amazing tasty food, lovely atmosphere and really nice decor. The staff went above and beyond with their service - and were constantly filling our glasses with more water and checking to make sure we were enjoying our food. As someone who cannot eat nuts, I felt so at ease once I was given an allergy chart that told me which allergens were in each dish. I would recommend this place to everyone!

I found this restaurant by accident walking around China Town. I had a look from outside through the window and saw that the majority were Chinese, so I tried it. Food and service was amazing! I would recommend it to everyone. There is also downstairs seating.

Arguably better than Hong Kong cha caan tengs because the quality, service and atmosphere is cleaner and more polite. Quality of ingredients is fresher than Hong Kong. Unfortunately the price is same as Hong Kong but charged in British pounds

Great option if you’re looking for Cantonese food in London. It is often quite busy and it’s probably because of how tasty, well portioned and reasonably priced the food is. A good go-to for casual dining without spending too much.
