Found this place by accident, off the main drag. What a little gem, food was excellent and the owner Ken and his staff made you feel very wecome.

I loved this coffee shop! The food and drinks were delicious but best of all the staff were hilarious. The owner Ken made us all laugh and made sure to give us lots of support. Plus it was his birthday so we got to celebrate with him. As a tourist I’ll definitely remember this place and will try to come back.

We are 3 Canadians spending a few days in Edinburgh. We stopped in for coffee and a bacon/egg roll on our way to hike Arthur's Seat. The food and drinks were awesome and the staff so friendly. Kirstie, the owner, was exceptionally personable! We enjoyed it so much, we made that our breakfast stop the next morning as well. And met Kirstie's partner Ken, another lovely person. We highly recommend!

I was staying in Edinburgh for a few days with friends and we stopped off here on multiple mornings because it was such a welcoming little cafe. The staff had a great sense of humour and the pastries were incredible. We had cinnamon rolls and croissants which were some of the best we'd ever had. The interior of the cafe was really cosy as well and next time I'm in Edinburgh I will definitely be coming here for my morning coffee.

Didn’t get any coffee, but we had a smoothie and iced tea. Both were mediocre and watery. Would not come back

I went here on my first trip alone with my friends and having never been to Edinburgh before. The staff made me feel so welcome and calm and the food was lovely. It had such a nice atmosphere + bonus points for Elvis the dog who cured my homesickness. Thank you for helping to make our trip great :)

Love everything about this place. From the quirky, fun menu, to the excellent friendly customer service to the super fresh food, packaged in beautiful brown paper and string with little labels. Clearly a lot of love and hard work goes into this business. I am a coeliac and very wary eating out anywhere but this was lovely food and excellent value for money. The food we got lasted us for two meals. And the gf Danish pastries, oh my.... I haven’t had a Danish pastry in so many years. Thank you so much, we’ll be ordering again soon.

We ordered vegan afternoon tea for four during the Corona lockdown. It arrived in lovely little boxes tied with string, and a special birthday message tag for my daughter. The sandwiches were so tasty, and a decent size. Pastries light and fluffy, HUGE scones and delightful cakes. It's also amazing value. I would really recommend the Edinburgh Coffee Lounge delivery service.

Visited for the first time with friends for a coffee catch up. Ended up staying longer and having lunch. What lovely decor, such a comforting setting and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Now a regular spot in Edinburgh for my friends and I.

Popped in here yesterday when we were passing. The decor is relaxing and it has a lovely atmosphere. The lady who served us seemed genuinely interested in our plans for the day and recommended places to visit on the royal mile. The coffee was very tasty and piping hot which I asked for. We had scrambled egg with tomato and avocado which was enough to feed both of us. There is a lovely dog who came to say hello but left us in peace. Will definitely come back soon. Thank you for a lovely experience

Not very happy with these guys. Sold 'gluten-free' cake that wasn't gluten free, on two separate occasions this week. I know it's festival time but that's a reason to be more careful, surely? I checked three times with them before purchasing and only found out by accident when Saturday staff offered me an ingredients list, after I tried to buy the cake a third time. This isn't good enough. I'm not going to die but someone with a nut allergy could be in serious trouble if they're similarly lax about that. Just think people should know. No apology. No refund.

I’ve been coming to this place pretty regularly lately! I come to read, journal, and just chill. It’s got a good selection of drinks & food, all within a cheap & reasonable price range. Edinburgh is expensive but this place doesn’t up their prices to anything ridiculous. The owner is an absolutely lovely lady who welcomes and treats everyone warmly. I recommend checking this place out if your in the area. Even just for a quick coffee! It’s worth it.

Can’t recommend this place enough - especially as a new mum looking for a nice place to relax Great honest food - especially for those who love brunch Customer service and chat is on point! Love a place you walk into and it feels homely! Regular customers created a great vibe Lots of busy students coming and going to work on their laptops - nice to be around so many hard working individuals Not a coffee fan myself but my partner banged on about his fantastic coffee for the whole evening after! Put me to shame! Luxury hot chocolate is a personal fave ✌🏻

Popped in on whim to work one Thursday mid-morning. Lady (owner I think) was friendly and helpful. Coffee was delicious. Nice ambience with fairy lights and good background music. Sweet dog in the corner. Nice plants on the tables. Rustic but not pretentious. Nice place to work, chat or just chill. Leather sofa and comfy chairs in the window for people watching. Highly recommend! Eliot

It was time for a good cup of coffee before embarking on the University Open Day, and the simple styling of The Edinburgh Coffee Shop attracted us. We were not disappointed: apart from the very comfortable leather sofa, my cappuccino was the best I've tasted in a long while! Although we only had coffees, the cakes looked tempting and there were interesting hot food options on the menu board. The two members of staff were welcoming and relaxed.

Great music, great cider, the food is as good as vegan food gets if you are into it and still very good if you're not. Nice people

Pretty good. Very friendly staff and a nice shop connected to it where you can get fresh fruit and veg. Plenty of options including vegan. Nice options for small children too.

A traditional friendly bar. Good choice of beers, spirits and wine. The bar staff are lovely people and make you feel welcome, the locals are friendly too. Enjoyed spending time in there.
