Great food and service. Never disappoints.

Came here yesterday evening for the all you can eat... Not much really to say.. Other than the food was very average.. Not a lot to pick from.. And naan selection wasn't as good as the naz buffet across the road...

We really enjoy coming to Eastern Eye . The service is great ( even when it is really busy) and the food is delicious-and there are nice little touches that make it special- hot towels after your food , a few slices of orange to cleanse the palate , often a complimentary drink. Highly recommended!

Nice experience, nice food and fairly quick service for a busy restaurant. Only issue is its quite noisy. Lots of echo plus celebrations with added staff drumming and strumming of happy birthday or whatever. Great place for a cheery group/family celebration.

This is one of our local restaurants and I’ve been here 4 times in 2 months, 3 times were with work for Christmas and retirement parties and then with a group of friends. The service is always efficient and the staff are very friendly. Always have Poppadums and get plenty of dips and chutney to go with it. I always have the chicken Dupiaza which is not on the menu anymore but they always make it for me. They give you a complimentary side dish of chicken Royale which is really nice. Then afterwards the ladies get a free shot of tia Maria and the men get sambucca. If in a group they will often leave the bottle on the table for you as well. The atmosphere is always great and often they will have a special entertainment night with singers. Definitely recommend for a good night out.

I chose this restaurant to go to on Valentines Day with my husband to celebrate our 26th Wedding Anniversary, as we usually frequent a similar local establishment but I wanted to try this one as it appeared to be suitable for me. I have a bad dairy allergy and also do not eat meat, and on the website it states to inform the waiter if you have an allergy. My husband telephoned the restaurant prior to our visit to ensure that they could cater for our needs and he was reassured there would be no problem, and on the website page it also states " we will endeavor to fulfill your request". On arrival the restaurant looked lovely, it was decorated with red heart balloons and rose petals on the table. The waiter approached our table and handed us our menus, but never offered us any drinks whilst we chose our food.On his return I immediately told him I had a severe dairy allergy and did not eat meat or fish and would this be a problem for them. His response to me was, "well what curry do you normally eat?" Not quite the response I would have expected, so I asked him if he could ensure my meal did not have any dairy in it, I was then told the ingredients were listed, which is true, but surely butter/yogurt/cream could be omitted from a dish if I chose. I started to feel uncomfortable like I was being a nuisance so I asked the waiter if I could have a Mushroom and pea Madras, as I know this is safe for me to eat. The waiter promptly replied that it was not listed on the menu. I felt really awkward so just quickly chose a regular vegetable biryani, my husband chose a regular non meat item off of the menu without issue. We had to ask if we could order starters as well which is rather unusual as these are the first things that are normally ordered. Our papadums were delivered to our table and my husband had to ask if we could order a drink. In a timely manner our food was delivered to the table, the main course, so my husband asked where our starters were, and the young man who bought our food out said he would go and find out. He bought our starters to the table and we had no option but to eat them with the main course. When the food was bought to the table there was a dish that we didn't recognise so we asked what it was, to be told it was a complimentary CHICKEN curry, (not really appropriate when it was made clear we do not eat meat) I must say the food was very tasty, hot and plentiful When I went to pay we did inform the young lady when asked how everything was, that it was a very uncomfortable experience for us do to the unhelpful waiter. Sadly although the food was lovely we will not return there again, due to the waiter making me feel so awkward If you have allergies or are vegan, Im not sure this would be the restaurant for you, as the waiter was unprepared to be helpful.

Absolutely fantastic night at the eastern eye restaurant for valentines night. Everything was amazing, live music, delicious food We got so many extra treats too, a rose, heart balloon, chocolates extra's side dish to try and 2 shots at the end of the meal. We had the best time and the staff are so friendly. It’s ashame we are only able to go here when we are on holiday. Will be back next time we visit Devon. Thank you so much for a perfect night out.

Ordered a madras which was more like a massala. The chicken was dry and the normal chicken curry had no flavor....

Best curry in England!! I am from London and this tikka masala is hands down the best curry I have ever had. The presentation, taste and vibes are immaculate. The best curry house ever - would thoroughly recommend and will always be coming back for more !!

Food tasted good, but there was only a choice of 3 meat curries and 2 vegetarian curries on a Sunday (buffet day).

Food was lovely and not bad as far as price goes. Only issue is that there are no baby change tables so had to change my child on the floor of the disabled toilets

Great Indian situated on 'takeaway Alley' in Newton Abbot. Bussing atmosphere with live music at times, good staff and great food. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the South West. Do go and try it.

What has happened to the Eastern Eye, my curry had just 4 pieces of chicken and enough sauce to drown in, very disappointing.

Went for the Buffett. The foods were overly spicy. Even the tikka masala was more than anywhere else I’ve eaten. The staff are overbearing, big difference between attentive and making you feel rushed. Especially when there were plenty of empty tables so they weren’t in a hurry for the table. Staff asking if we were finished whilst we were still eating and trying to take glasses away when still over quarter full. Definitely put me off returning.

Went with friends to celebrate birthday. Booking is essential as it gets very busy. Despite the fact that the place was packed service was good and friendly. Food was good and its nice that you get complimentary drinks after the meal as well as hot towels. If you like Indian food this is the go to place in Newton Abbot.

I recently had a trip back to Newton Abbot and went with a good friend to the Eastern Eye. This was not my first visit. Each time I have been here the food has been exceptional and service excellent. During this recent visit, the food was even better than before. As usual, service was perfect and the owner a total joy to chat to. He knew many of the others dining in this busy restaurant, which is a good indication why people regularly return to enjoy the great food so often.

Friendly staff, good service, nice food couldn't fault anything apart from the atmosphere. Decided to put us out for a quiet evening next to a table of 12-15 who were loud and standing up half the time. Ruined the evening a bit as literally couldn't hear what other were saying across the table. Maybe put bigger parties in the side part rather than main bit or vice versa. Highly recommend though!

After many years we headed into Newton Abbott to visit The Eastern Eye which we always enjoyed dining at. So pleased we hopped on the train as We had a lovely experience from start to finish. We have never been in such an organised restaurant. By 7pm the restaurant was pretty busy yet the service was impeccable. We never once felt rushed yet there was always someone at hand if you needed anything. We would definitely recommend you try here if you are in the area.

Popped in by chance while looking for somewhere to eat in Newton Abbot. This place is clearly known locally as the premier Bangladeshi restaurant, as it was packed. They still found us a table though. Food, drink and service was all excellent. We're from Birmingham where Indian style restaurants have to be cutting edge to survive, and were pleasantly impressed with the flavours and quality. Highly recommended.

This as the best meal I have had for ages. From the warm welcome at the front door to the complementary drink at the end of the meal The service was best to none , from re arranging the tables (some guest could not make it ) to the birthday 🎉 song/dance was excellent , nothing was to much bother for the staff. The food was Gorgeous, piping hot including the plates , service again 💯. I will hopefully be going back to this restaurant again with family and friends. Highly recommend for a lovely experience all round. Felt a little embarrassed , as we all paid with cards. And almost forgot to give a tip , but would have liked to have given them more but we only had a bit of cash No service charge was added as a lot of places do that now a days. No

Superb evening spent at the Eastern Eye, the food is very good and the customer service is fantastic. All the dishes are very good. My favourite is the staff curry however this is not on the menu and not available until after 21:00 buy if you are there after this time ask for the staff curry you will not be disappointed.

Really poor takeout from the Eastern Eye. We live 10 mins from the resturant and the food was already cold by the time we got it home. Naan bread was undercooked, onion baijis cold, and curry lukewarm and had no real taste to it. Poppadoms also quite soft. The food wasn't ready when I turned up to collect, so it wasn't as if it had been sat around for a while. Really disappointed, won't be getting a takeaway from there again. Always found dining in to be good, but wouldn't recommend the takeaway.

I have been going to the Eastern Eye for over 30 years. The business has grown from a small bistro style restaurant to the large restaurant it is today. During this time the standard of food and service has remained top class. At the hub of everything Ali keeps things running smoothly and professionally. This is the ideal venue for a quiet meal together or for a larger family/friends gathering. A first classsvenue.

Tried this restaurant for the first time Tuesday buffet was magnificent- really good quality, encouraged to return for more. Polite and attentive service, charming staff. This felt very old fashioned- home cooking, great service, great value. I will be back without question

The menu prices are wrong soyou just have to guess the total cost, every other question I had was met with "dunno" do you do deals? "Dunno", do you have Sunday buffet? "Dunno" fo you know anything? "nah dunno mate". Will try the gurkha next door then!.

Called in for a takeaway as this place is always busy when you drive past . Pleasantly greeted at the door and given a menu ,offered a diet coke or coffee while I chose my meal . Very quick service which surprised me as they were so busy . Order was checked Infront of me before being handed over Food was hot and very tasty. Will definitely be using this 1 again . Rice and Naan were excellent. Sag paneer had no cream and very large paneer cubes, my partners dish of lamb balti was good if a tad salty, my dish of chicken tikka masala was not good. Chicken was dry, it wasn't chicken tikka just some red sauce , no cream and I couldn't eat it. I did mention to the waiter and he just took it away. However, atmosphere and service was good. They gave you complimentary tasters which is a good idea and a shot of sambucca which was appreciated.

Decided I’d have a takeaway so ordered online. I’ve eaten here before and the Butter Chicken was great. Extensive menu so I went for Lamb Samosas (x 2 pcs) Chicken Tawa, and coconut rice. Just around £20 and which I collected. 1/2 lager whilst waiting...

Had takeaway recently, and was unhappy with it. There was very little meat in the meals. The flavour was not as good as I remembered from previous orders some years ago We ordered flat breads which did not arrive at all, disappointing as previously they always included complimentary Poppadums.

Large restaurant and was very busy on the Thursday evening that we went. We had booked at the same time as a tribute act which added to the overall atmosphere, but luckily we had finished eating as it did make it harder to have a conversation due to the noise! Staff were attentive and provided a complimentary taster dish with the meal, palette cleansers and an after dinner drink. We tried dishes off the special menu and both tasted great.

Honestly the best Indian I’ve ever eaten in. The attention to detail was next to none. The staff were so so attentive and the food couldn’t be beaten it was absolutely delicious. And if all that wasn’t enough there was live music- just brilliant 🤩

Have used the Eastern Eye for over thirty years. The food is consistently good with many choices. There is always a good atmosphere in the restaurant. Take-aways and home delivery. Limited on-street parking immediately outside but car parks and on-street parking nearby.

Not the best I've been to, and the buffet is not in fact the price advertised, you have to buy a soft drink or alcoholic drink to qualify for the buffet which makes it around £23, the most expensive buffet with the least amount of options I've ever been to, also having to pay for a tray of condiments for the poppadoms is outrageous at £5, I've never been charged for this in any other Indian restaurant I've been to, will I come back? I very much doubt it tbh
