Good pub food and always three or four fresh fish dishes on the specials board. Highly recommend the liver and bacon. Big portions. Great carvery on a Sunday. TNT and Sky Sports for football/rugby fans. Homemade pie and mash is great! Madri, Moretaine, Courage and Razorback on draught.

Thought about having a brunch on Saturday but once we parked we saw there were only 2 ppl having a drink outside - a bit suspicious, right? When we entered the oub, there were still baloons all over the floor from the previous night party what seemed to be a baby shower or something of that kind. It looked ghosted and decided we would not eat there so we just made a u-turn and left.

What a lovely day. We came to the dumbell today for their Easter activity day. My daughter and her friends had the best time doing the easter egg hunt, decorating biscuits and easter crafts whilst the adults enjoyed some drinks and lunch (food was lovely) in the sun. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend, we will be back for sure 😊

Friendly traditional country pub with good value, good quality vegetarian-friendly food. Good for families, including well behaved dogs. Don't go if you like fancy décor. It's not at all smart. After the pandemic it's gone a bit upmarket on the décor and lost a bit of it's charm in the process. The chickens and rabbits have gone. I'm wondering if the owners have changed. Still good. Prices more in line with what you'd expect these days.

The main issue with the Dumb Bell is that it’s tired in every aspect. The environment, the cleanliness, the staff and the food. They all just seem tired. We came in December and let the kids have a kick around in the back garden, which is quite large. I’d imagine it comes into its own in summer and is probably a nice place to visit to sit in the summer sun and have a drink, while the kids play. But if you are spending your time inside and contemplating having a meal….do yourself a favour and keep driving. The food looks and tastes like it’s cooked by someone who simply doesn’t enjoy cooking. It’s a job they lost the passion for a long time ago. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day, making this place the location of a kitchen nightmare episode. The staff try and are friendly but it doesn’t stop you waiting an hour for food that comes out incorrect. Again, it feels like the staff are simply just tired, wishing they were really doing something else. Overall it’s just not a nice experience and one you walk away from thinking you got ripped off for paying what you did. Decor is old and a bit grubby, toilets are rough, car park is filled with pot holes, traffic cones are all over the garden. Just a collection of things that let the experience of this place down. You deserve better.

Lovely meal at The Dumb Bell. First time we've been and will return. It was quite a mixed menu at our table ranging from a roast, stews, vegan and even a full English. Catered well for a family who all like to eat different things especially as we ranged from 1 years to 101 years of age. Great portion sizes as well. The atmosphere was lovely and very welcoming and good parking. The little ones enjoyed the park even in the rain. Thank you 👍

I was highly disappointed in this establishment, the reviews paint a great picture but all in all, its an old mans pub on its dying legs, not the family friendly pub it advertises on the website and looks nothing like the pictures they display. We visited this place as we liked the look of the small play park in the beer garden, figured the kids could enjoy a play whilst we had some food as they don't tend to just sit around at a table for long. The pictures on the website show a pristine looking garden, looked great, we parked up in the car park, worryingly, could not find a single fence panel that was not broken or crooked in some manner from years of neglect, walked into the beer garden, tables look 10 years old, rotting, play equipment is old, rotting, weeds everywhere, they have also provided a bunch of rusting broken bikes for small children to play with. The food was disappointing for the price, worst pub food I have had to date, no real effort, unable to support allergies as the kitchen is too small, seem inconvenienced that someone with allergies had come to dine with them. Go for a pint of beer, you'll probably enjoy it, expect a family meal, with something for the kids to do... skip it, its a health hazard.

This venue has so much potential. However, the team don't seem to realise this! I found the staff do the minimum in customer service. The whole place looks tired and messy - the garden area has old furniture dumped everywhere and inside has no atmosphere at all. Clearly the regulars don't care as they seemed quite content. So why should the people running this dump care either? Huge disappointment.

It's a local pub I've wanted to try for ages. We have a little one, so the play area and family vibe was appealing. We turned up, 2 families with 2 toddlers, and we had the Sunday Carvery. Food was good value for money, portions are large and veg and meat was cooked well. Service was good and we were made to feel welcome by staff. It's cheap and cheerful. We were having a lovely time until we were accosted by some very drunk regulars. We know they were drunk because their table, sat behind us, had been ordering rounds & rounds of shots on a Sunday afternoon. We were 'started' on by one very large older male, who seemed to disregard the fact there were small children present, and accused my husband of 'eyeing' up his Mrs. (Which I'm sorry, was a. Not ever going to happen, she was old enough to be his mother for one, & b. Completely inappropriate in front of children.) It suddenly became a very hostile unfriendly atmosphere for no apparent reason other than the drunk table were looking for trouble and we were an easy target. It really ruined what had been until that point a very pleasant afternoon. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we won't be returning.
