Not the most welcoming of places you get a better welcome from the pubs German Shepherd than the landlord. Good selection of Real Ale not a place for a quiet conversation as he was more interested in watching the Olympics on TV with the sound on full. Kids not welcome.

I arrived 12:30 by bus and went here because of a mini beer festival. I had not been here for ages and I like a traditional country public house that is not modernised in any way. In fact you can see all the CAMRA Awards all framed. The plum beer was lovely and the porter was nice. I gave the light hoppy beers a miss as I find the dark ones are more settling especially after a rather bouncy bus ride here. The gentleman who served me was helpful even to the point where he told me that he saw the bus. I rushed out and he said that I didn't have to leave so soon! @ 14:20 was the last bus to get back

On a long journey with a baby, pulled off the M25 as baby distressed and we needed some food. We came across this pub and I sat in the car to feed baby. Then my partner went to walk around the garden to occupy the baby for 5mins as I gathered the phone/wallet/changing bag ect. The landlord then approached my partner holding the baby, and aggressively ask what we were doing! He continued to be hostile during the interactions. Left after that. AVOID

It is a sizeable walk from Chorleywood Underground station but certainly worth it. Huge garden. We were there on Friday. This is a wet-led pub and like every other similar institution times are tough. Support or it will be gone. Couple of hundred years old. The name comes from the Chartist movement.

Its taken a long time but Covid saw to that. Finally visited after being tempted by landlord when stopping outside in mid-2020 after first lockdown was eased. Very much worth the ride out there as this pub has a lovely garden, great beers and cider as well as a lively atmosphere. Will have to return to sample food, which I believe is traditional snacks not the usual and often bland gastropub fare.

Bit of a time warp. This is a very traditional Pub whose excellent reputation for serving quality and varied Ales proceeds it. It's about 1/2 a mile off the M25 @J18. Adequate car parking and plenty of outdoor seating. They do not allow young children even in the beer garden and I can see why some other reviewers have an issue with the Landlord. But I didn't, he was polite in a slightly stand off way but knew his business. I saw an entirely different side when a local came in and he became quite animated. If your looking for a character pub with good Ales and choices this is for you. If you want a Children friendly pub with expansive menu then head the other way off the M25 into Rickmansworth.

Support your local pub after The Shutdown! A proper pub with an ever changing choice of guest beers that has not compromised itself by depending upon a restaurant or proclaiming itself a gastro-pub. Plenty of space in the garden for socially distanced drinking and space for the designated driver in your group to park the car.

Understand the rule, but don't understand very rude nature of the bar man. Martin I think. Ironic thing is the sign on the front says "warm welcome"....maybe they just don't like Asian people. Really homely atmosphere. Regulars are really friendly and I could easily see myself sitting in a corner reading with a pint for hours. Im not a huge beer drinker which is what they seem to specialise in but they did have a selection of ciders im happy to explore. Seems like a real 'local'. There is a dog who is very friendly but obviously if you are scared of dogs id skip this one. Service was really prompt with a friendly smile and helpful pointing out what options they had. I live nearby and was nervous going in honest cos I heard it was an 'old man pub' and I am neither but I found it suprising pleasant. They also had some games and books in one corner which is a really nice touch.

This is one of my partner’s local pubs, and having now visited every other pub in the area many times, we’ve both decided that this one is our favourite. At a glance it looks like a bit of an old man pub, but it’s actually quite a quirky little spot with colourful clientele. There’s a reasonably broad, rotating selection of ales and ciders on offer as well as a good selection of gins and other spirits, and we always find something for our tastes. My partner says the sausage rolls are transcendental. The pub has a lot more character than others nearby and we’ve always found the staff friendly and welcoming. There’s also a really friendly pub dog called Purdy!

One of the last few remaining "proper" pubs. Great selection of ales, and even a quality (award winning) lager option. Traditionally decorated and unspoiled, the Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty is a true "destination ale house", for those in search of local pub life as it used to be (back in the good old days!) In 1968, it would have been ordinary. In 2018, it is exceptional.
