Absolutely fantastic staff, great atmosphere, and excellent service, but sadly the food quality is declining. It's a shame to see this happen in a place with so much potential. We've tried many dishes over the past couple of years, and it's clear the food standard is falling. I wish the team all the best and hope this is taken in the spirit intended. We still love you and will keep visiting you.

Went here today as a table of 10 , me my husband and our 6 children and there partners , it was our sons 20 th birthday , we all had drinks to start and was served them , then half way through the drinks the waitress came over and asked for I.d , our son didn’t have his wallet on him as he has never actually been asked for I.d in a few years , the manager was then sent over which actually looked far younger than my son and wouldn’t except a photo of my sons driving licence so they took away his pint half drunk, absolute shambles of a place and so called manager child , would never return , ruined the day and the food was pretty awful to

There were nore than 20 people in our group so I was concerned that this would impact the quality of the food (which we had pre-ordered). I had the tarragon chicken and it was excellent. Those who had the salmon or pie or burger all said how good they were. We will return.

Waited far far too long for our order of mains and gave up and cancelled desert order. Food and service not as good as it used to be which is a real shame. In fairness they gave us 10% off our bill because of the issues we had but the experience tainted a long awaited get together

The food is always super fresh and tasty. Understandably, it's always busy and the service can be a tad slow

I had breakfast with a group friends at the Artichoke. The food was brilliant - food tasted fresh, scrambled eggs were perfect. The service was excellent. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. They looked after us. We’ll definitely be coming back.

My work colleagues and I visited one evening after hearing great things about this place. The Artichoke puts a unique twist on the idea of "pub grub", fusing it with an experience of fine dining. 🍴✨ Some favourites from the group were the dirty burger 🍔 and superfood flatbread 🥗. I ordered the pork and prunes (because I’m a pork enthusiast 🐷), and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection. I would return again for this dish alone! 👌 One critique is that, while the menu seems to offer a lot of variety, the selection of mains is actually quite limited. The large menu mainly highlights the variety of sides (e.g., fries, cheesy fries, cheese & bacon fries, chilli cheese fries... etc.). This did feel slightly misleading, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dishes. I would recommend The Artichoke for its warm and friendly atmosphere 🏡 and high-quality takes on traditional British food. 🍽️🇬🇧

Great food and drinks at reasonable prices, always let down by slow service. Had to call over to get served, servers avoided eye contact. starter arrived before drinks.

The Team did exceptionally well to cater for nearly 60 guests and included vegan alternatives. The outside tent was warm and cosy and had a festive feel about it. Recommended.

It was my first time at this pub and I have to say I enjoyed the hospitality, professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The food selection and preparation was excellent. They will see me again!!

I often have breakfast at The Artichoke after a walk with a friend on Saturdays as well as some dinner visits. After numerous visits and consistently receiving good service and food, I felt it was about time I wrote a well-deserved review. This is a lovely well-managed pub with character in Croxley Green. The food is good and reasonably priced but the service is even better. One thing that stands out is how well the staff - who are mostly young – serve. They are obviously well-trained. In particular, two people who deserve a special mention are Emilia and another Irish girl with dark hair whose name unfortunately I cannot remember. Emilia who looked after us on Saturday 14th December 2024 was excellent – attentive, well-mannered and remembered special requests. Obviously highly recommend The Artichoke. P.S. Excellent service, food and environment

The Artichoke is a beautiful, warm and welcoming pub, with a wonderful selection of drinks and a quality food offering. Thank you to the team and of course Evan, their fantastic General Manager!

Highly recommend. We were a table of 7 and were give the snug area. Perfect setting, lovely food and great service.

I went with a friend for the Christmas menu but was very disappointed. The atmosphere is nice and all but the food lets it down. The starter of Camembert is two very small pieces of breaded cheese with a bit of salad. Two mouthfuls for over £8. The main was smothered in gravy, making it soggy and lost its taste. The veg side/trimmings were 1 or 2 small veg of each - so mean! Hard Brussel sprouts that I gave up on cutting and hard, stale roast potatoes that I couldn’t cut so they changed it for new potatoes which were better. Rose glass of wine was warm so I had to get ice in it. Even sorbet dessert was crunchy and awful texture. Waffles aren’t included in the 3 course meal (apart from the mince pie one) so had to pay extra, which was defo not worth it as was such a mush soaked in the sauces. Disappointing meal and big waste of money.

Met up with cousin for meal. We came down from Scotland. Worth the visit. Good hot tasty food. Great service. Smiles all round 👍

By far the loveliest pub in Croxley Green and if they start stocking Genuine Belgian Beers it will become perfect in every way!

We were here on Saturday for a family Christmas get together. We all ate different things and everyone loved their food. We were quite a high maintenance group but the serving staff took it all in their stride. Ewan managed extremely well with the banter that occurred and took it all on his stride giving us a superb service.. well done that man.. Forgotten the name he gave us for a bad review so it had to be a good one!! See you next year ( as we are well spread across the country with only one local family!)

There was nothing I didn't like about this place. The food was absolute top notch and we were well attended to throughout the meal. We had probably one of the best interactions I have ever had with the staff. We were very respectively asked to change tables after a over booking in the restaurant. It could of been a negative interaction but was dealt with in the most respectful way possible. Its not the cheapest but the selection of food, drinks and quality more than makes it worth it. Not to mention the portion sizes are not small, come hungry!

Such a beautifully decorated venue (warm and cosy) and the staff really look after you 💕 We'll definitely be back!

We had a fabulous Christmas breakfast this morning with all the girls from church. Jason and his staff gave us the five star treatment again, the food was delicious, so much choice, presented beautifully and hosted excellently. We love this place 🤍🌟🫶

Visited the artichoke twice now. Both times, food has been great quality and a lovely atmosphere. However the service has let it down. We waited ages to be served, once we did get served, waited 20 minutes for food to come and another 20 minutes after for our drinks.

Service is so slow and disorganised with priority towards food and it makes you feel unwelcome if you just want drinks. If we had been offered menus we might have had a snack.

I was very disappointed in my food it was rather tasteless. I had risotto and for a small plate was too big a portion. But the staff were lovely. Very helpful I was with two elderly ladies and the young man who served us was polite and could not have done more for us .

Regrettably never got to dine at The Artichoke. Was looking to book a table for Sunday lunch to entertain visiting family, but was unable to book a table of 7 online. I filled out their online enquiry form as requested twice, but no response from them. Then tried calling and leaving a message, again twice but to no avail. We have now booked our lunch at a different restaurant.

Great meal and our dog was given a plate of her own dog treats!!!

I have a love and hate relationship with The Artichoke. Their beers [Atlantic Pale Ale & Peroni], service from their amazing staff is faultless. It's their food that has gone up and down over the years, filling served in a dish with pastry on top does not constitute a 'pie', neither does dry and chewy beef for Sunday roast, their food use to be really good! However, still a lovely place to spend a summer afternoon or a cosy winter evening in front of their fireplace.

Dog friendly pub which is lovely. We found the menu quite strange. A few pub normals like sausage and mash...which is great but I like to order something I wouldn't have at home when I go out to eat. Unfortunately I found this challenging. The main meal options all seemed to have an oriental twist to them. I decided to order a chicken dish but it was sold out. The waitress said everyone seemed to order it...which says to me the menu needs tweaking. I ended up choosing the duck salad. The duck seemed very processed and was swimming in hoi sin type sauce. It was disappointing. Aperal spritz was not consistent..first one had way to much soda...2nd to much aperol and hardly any prosecco. Not the best visit. On a plus note the banofee desert was amazing and the staff are lovely to.

Terrible service today at lunchtime after half an hour wait still no drinks people arrived after us getting served quicker! In the end walked out. This place used to have great service gone downhill massively!

Got it completely wrong in regards to service. Unable to get a drink for 40 min due to table service only. It's a pub that does food. Ordered food with the drinks order no food and no drinks. Other tables had the same problem.

This evening, I had an amazing dining experience at The Artichoke in Croxley, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the manager, Juraj, went above and beyond to make our evening special. Despite needing a last-minute table, he managed to accommodate us with a warm and welcoming attitude. The food was absolutely mouthwatering. We indulged in a delicious pie and a juicy burger, both of which were cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich and satisfying, leaving us craving more even after we were full. To top it all off, The Artichoke had generous cocktails on offer, making our evening not only delightful but also a great bargain. The cocktails were expertly crafted, adding an extra touch of enjoyment to our meal. Overall, our experience at The Artichoke was exceptional. The attentive service, delectable food, and fantastic drinks made for an unforgettable evening. We would highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in Croxley. The Snug is a really lovely place for a group.

Not sure what went wrong with this charming pub yesterday. Have not visited in a while but Mrs & I thought we'd have a drink & some food out in the pub garden, being a sunny day. After about an hour...no sign of our buffalo cauliflower starter, Caesar salad & Loaded Mac & cheese so decided to leave & go elsewhere after asking for a refund. It was busy but non of the staff communicated that there would be a delay after I ordered & paid, or came back after 15 minutes to update us. A manager came by & we had to stop him & enquire what was going on after 55 minutes or so. We aren't talking fine dining here, it's a pub so food should be relatively quick. Naturally very disappointed.

Been to the artichoke several times to eat and the foods always been good unfortunately on this occasion the fish was overcooked as were the chips

I took my family here to celebrate Father’s Day and was very disappointed. The roast potato’s were rock hard, the beef was chewy and gravy Luke warm. My son’s steak order was wrong and the steak was on top of the chips which made them soggy.

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our friends 60th birthday last night at the Artichoke. There were approximately 30 of us & we couldn’t fault a thing. The service was exceptional from everyone but unfortunately I only got Sophie’s name who was simply amazing getting everyone’s orders to them quickly( no mean feat when we kept moving around…apologies for that!) For those of us that ate, the food was perfect. All the staff were incredibly patient with us all & we all cannot thankyou enough for help making it a perfect evening for our friend. I just apologise for not getting everyone’s names. Well done & keep up the excellent work.

I’d give 5 stars to this place, but staff eww.. I mean we arrive at 21:20 and the waitress said kitchen is closed before saying hello.. come on.. The pub is great, and the garden is very cosy..

The service has always let us down here and we’ve tried sitting in both the tent and the restaurant to see if it makes a difference. We’ve held off coming for a while and tried again today to see if anything had changed but left very disappointed. Our starters and mains came out super quick (and were delicious) but then nobody came back to check on us and half an hour after finishing our mains we had to find someone to take our plates away. We were offered dessert menus but nobody came back to give them to us and we then waited another half an hour before we got up and found someone to get us the bill instead. The table next to us was seated as our mains arrived and managed to order, eat their starters, finished their mains and got dessert menus before we were served again. Seems to be the same situation every time we visit which is a shame as the food is always delicious.

been here now 5 times but wanted to leave until now to leave a review as i wanted to be sure. one word excellent every time i have been the waiting staff have always been incredible and the atmosphere very warming and comfortable, that comfortable i even asked my partner Helens father for his permission to marry her. but if your eating here an absolute must is the chilli burger or the fish its first class that good it can even lead to marriage
