Always a warm welcome - especially from Ashley - and excellent food. Service is great and always a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

Lovely pub, first visit here with a large group. Welcoming staff who also provided excellent customer service. Good menu, had the steak, ale and mushroom pie which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The hot drink and mini dessert was popular and they weren't even that mini! Staff were very accommodating.

Really dissapointed in my visit. Felt so unwelcome. The table I had to sit at was reserved. And I was made aware of that from the moment I entered. The place was packed, loud and busy. Because I was unable to sit for food I decided to stay for a drink (which was terribly priced) but as I was drinking I had 2 different bar staff REMIND ME I needed to free the table by a certain time. It unfortunately made my stop quite upsetting, I felt very rushed and unwelcome.... I wish I didn't even spend any money there to be honest. Such a shame..

The Duke of York was very busy for a Thursday lunch time. Obviously a very popular pub with ample seating space inside and outside. The staff were all very efficient and very pleasant, the atmosphere was good, and the food was tasty. Would definitely recommend.

The roast dinner delivered on flavour and generous portions. The meats and veggies were delicious, though the roast potatoes, unfortunately, seemed reheated and lacked the freshness you'd hope for. The highlight was the sticky toffee pudding, which was simply amazing. Service was great with helpful and cheerful staff who went above and beyond to ensure a great experience

I'd love to come back, I'm satisfied...

Come here regularly for dinner. Lovely food and great service. Burger, fish and chips and the chicken wings are our standard orders

Nice atmosphere but the roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked left then heated up in a microwave they were not crispy or fluffy (disgusting), I mentioned this and was given more which were the same we left them and mentioned again when we had finished nothing was said very disappointing will not go again.

Excellent first time at Duke of York today, the food was plentiful and of excellent quality. The roast options are superb and you get a great big plate of delicious British food. Gravy is rather good, you can ask for more. Starters/Nibbles were interesting and tasty.

Food didn't come as seen on the menu, pie was meant to come with beans & redcurrant sauce but came with kale & ordinary gravy. Also my friend ordered her steak with salad & it still came with chips. Cute little dog left to run free outside in the terrace/garden but unfortunately shat in the garden & no one cleared up.

A full plate of high quality food. Visited on a Sunday. The menu is great containing kids and vegetarian options. Dessert choices are exceptional.

We were a party of 12 and had a lovely evening overall, however the steak meal was disappointing as the steak was far too tough.and I gave it to my dog as I didn’t want it wasted. I couldn’t complain as it was a celebration meal and did not feel it was appropriate.

Giving one star purely based on the service I received the last time I went with my daughter. I will not go into the whole incident but the person serving almost scalded my daughter with carelessness and was extremely arrogant about it. Left me and her very upset. If the management care enough they will get in touch.

I generally never leave reviews, finding instead that my regular continued custom is evidence enough of my satisfaction with a business. However, the experience tonight is worthy of a review. We’re a family of three with a 4 year old and my wife is pregnant. We have been to the Duke of York multiple times, each experience has been as good as the last. Tonight, however, after placing our order and after something like 45 mins, I enquired as to how much longer our food would be. Disappointingly, it had not been put through the system! The staff were polite, but I was not satisfied with the initial apology and asked to speak to the manager. Manager (Chris) came and spoke with me. He was understanding, apologetic and dealt with the situation very well which completely disarmed me with a kind gesture to make things right. Food came out shortly afterwards and was as always, delicious. Pleased to say the Duke of York will continue to be one our favourite places to eat out at, in the area.

We went to this place hoping for a lovely time as it was a special occasion but unfortunately we were let down, the service was terrible even though there seemed quite a lot of staff on duty. We waited quite along time for drinks and food even though it was not particularly busy, we had to ask for more drinks which took a while, the food was average at best please try other venues first

If you want really very good food at a really good price point, with excellent service and a pleasant (and dog-friendly) atmosphere - come here. If however you want sub standard slop thrown at you by surly staff, go somewhere else! Love it here. Never had a bad meal. TINY issue with a chipped glass - no big deal, but highlighted - to receive a replacement glass and a bottle of plonk on the house to apologise. Classy. If you are coeliac or just fashionably gluten-free cos you don't like the bloaty bloat, I have rarely been anywhere where there is a such a vast choice of GF options. It's great. Go. Just go.

Nice pub, but were clearly massively understaffed both across the waiting team, as well as the kitchen - this was at 7:45pm on a Friday It took 40mins for our drinks to arrive, nearly an hour for our starters. The food was not, in my opinion, worth the prices being charged and was luke warm.

We had booked pur dinner between friends as it had been quite a while and it's hard to find time. We arrived at 7:30 promptly and given a few people had complained due to the long wait we swiftly ordered drinks (which took over 30 minutes to arrive) we also ordered food quickly (7:55) we ordered a starter and a main. The starter arrived at 08:52, after this our mains the arrived around 9:50. 2 of the mains were warm-cold (hot plate warm food but they were so hungry we didnt want to say anything given the time) By now a few of the party were getting restless due to time commitments. Finally we opted for desert which was redeeming as the coffee was nice and desert was also lovely. There clearly seems to be: 1. An over booking issue. 2. Understaffed issue. Given the above I think it's wise to give it some time before our return.

We had the private dining room which was great for a friends birthday. It was exceptionally warm and the manager arranged a fan immediately when we asked. The food was very nice and the service was great, particularly Finn who is always friendly, attentive and very personable 👍🏻

10 of us had Sunday lunch (7 adults and 3 children under 4). The pub was packed but the service was excellent. The manager said they work hard to ensure they have enough staff for the busy weekend shifts It is typical good pub food and we all enjoyed our meals. We like the staff at the Duke of York they are always very pleasant and helpful. It is an enjoyable experience to be in a busy pub with great atmosphere. Three of us just had lunch on a beautiful summer's day under the canopy at the pub. Ideal. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the fish and chips was very good. It was pretty busy for a Thursday lunch time which shows what a popular place it is

Even though it was fathers day and extremely busy the service was exemplary the food was delicious and also reasonably priced. The outside area was perfect for me and my family. We will be back.Thank you

Let me begin with my experience of the toilets. As I walk in a smell hits my nose and I think to myself what's that smell?? well its clear to say its the ocean of piss on the floor and the poo stain on top of the right toilet on the ceiling also spit on the floor and walls. what a disgrace. Furthermore, I ordered food took 4 hours to come for a family of 3.PATHETIC!. What a let down. The employees were hostile especially the bold one who looks quite like my uncle Andrew. Anyways moving on to the positives. wait there aren't any. Food was vile had a vomit taste, left me in there disgusting unholy toilets for half the experience. I asked for coke they gave me root beer, disgusting, bitter and vile. Moving on, Dessert should be tasty right? Well you guessed wrong it wasn't it was horrid bitter and inedible, chocolate cake looks like something my dog threw up after smelling the toilet. 1 Star for everything. No Regret!

I will first start by staying I have previously attended this venue on multiple accounts. However this time was unlike any other. As I entered I was met with an extreme displeasure to my nose due to a noticeable bag of waste which had been left unattended at the entrance. After slowly waiting to be seated with my family, the employees didnt decided to offer a menu. After around 30 minutes we were finally given an opportunity to order are food and we ordered the weekly special of beef stew. As I was waiting for the food with my family I ventured to the toilets which were not labelled for males and females. As I opened the door a unavoidable smell of urine and human droppings filled the air. I could also not help to ignore the strange elderly man who was sat on top of the bin with his trousers in the sink. As I looked around at the unexpected mess which I had just stepped into the strange man I had previously mentioned began to let out worrying noises which led me to flee out the door. As I returned to my family I noticed we had still not received are food after 3 hours. As I demanded for better customer service to the employees I couldn't help but notice a bald man behind to bar urinating in the beers. Overall if I could give it a 0 I would, absolutely horrible and keep your children far away from this.

A very quiet Monday, but great food and service. We regularly use it as a meeting place with friends and family.

Very good service. Burger needs to be seasoned. Good selection of dishes. Clean. Space to park and a good sized garden.

I have used this venue for several years and for the first time I'm highly disappointed. I will list out my reasons. 1. Bottled water supplied at the begining of the meal, glass top with calcium on inside and not cleaned properly. 2. Thin cut chips were burnt or re-heated for the several members of the dinner party. 3. Large cut chips were undercooked on another. 4. For the purpose not to Identify, I don't appreciate it when I have to be told my tip options are at the bottom of the card reader. My intention was to tip regardless. The quality of the food appears to have dropped significantly. I didn't challenge which leaves my option to critique your service.

Food was very nice, service very good staff very friendly. All the food was hot and served well, prices were top end but l thought worth the money they also give a voucher for a return visit this l will use as l consider the venue is worth another visit.

Had such a lovely time in this place. Really excellent menu and fully gluten free and non gluten free food. I had a very tasty fish and chips. Good atmosphere and great service too.

Very nice atmosphere and attentive staff food was good and portions were big (for us girls &kids). Only I would say that was off-putting was the parking g and directions to tjmhe pub, they weren't that clear to get to the pub and once there the parking was limited unless I missed something...as was first time there, there than that lovely place.

Large family party of 12 - everyone enjoyed their food, service was brilliant and everyone had a great time.

Son treated me to an early Mother's Day lunch, we had the squid as a starter (absolutely delicious) then the Sunday roast beef with porchetta and all the trimmings, followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream. Food was lovely, well presented and very tasty. Service was great too, already planning to go back with my husband 😊

Unfortunately the staff in Duke of York are very hit and miss. Some work very hard and some don’t work at all. Plates of Food were still left on our table when we were eating our desserts. Lots of standing around chatting by lots of members of staff

The mussels and chips were great, with Belgian beer all on a special promotion. Service disappeared after that, with the table uncleared so long we gave up on desserts.

I haven’t been in a long while and I really was pleasantly surprised. The service was very quick and friendly and the soup and the roast beef Sunday lunch was really tasty and plentiful l. Would definitely go back and recommend. Thank you for a great Sunday lunch.

I have visited this pub a handful of times and can honestly say the food is very tasty and nicely presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Sea bass was the best I’ve been served in a pub. Cheeseboard dessert was a little disappointing and sparse for £14 but otherwise a good experience. Relaxed atmosphere and nice to be able to bring your dog in the bar area.

Had a lovely casual dinner with my family during the Xmas holidays. The portions were very generous and we never managed to finish!!! The pork belly was extra crispy and the venison pie very tasty. We all enjoyed ourselves and will be back again soon!!!

Went to the Duke of York pub today with some friends and I had the chicken wings for starters, fish and chips for mains and I couldn't resist dessert so I had a triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. The starters was so tasty. The mains were just as lovely although the dessert was very rich wish they had a bigger scoop of the vanilla ice cream though, however the chocolate sauce with the dessert was absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely go there again but try something different next time.

Too Expensive for size of portions. Some foods bland (lacking in flavour and taste), though some ok (for e.g. fish and chips). Puddings are way way overpriced - Bread&Butter £8, Apple Crumble £8++. Location is nice, but pub atmosphere is "heavy"

Really lovely dog friendly pub. The staff were all brilliant with our dogs especially your older golden retriever who has a problem walking across floors she's thinks she'll slip on. Good food too.

A great place to meet for lunch or dinner with friends. Plenty of parking available. Well cooked food. Good wine and beer choices are also available. The children's menu has plenty of options to suit most children's tastes.

Fantastic Boxing Day lunch for the six of us. The service was friendly, polite and attentive. The food arrived all together and clean plates all around. Table location was ideal with a good space around, decorated with Christmas Crackers. Big thanks to the staff for working during the holidays and would highly recommend the food and service.

I had a wonderful time at the Duke of York for Christmas lunch. Every dish was excellent, the staff were warm and friendly, the service was really prompt, with a very welcoming atmosphere. Really appreciate the thoughtful touches of hand-written Christmas cards from staff, Christmas crackers and trivia cards. This really made the day special for me. I will definitely be coming back again - well done to all of the staff here :)

Great food and service as usual

What a fantastic place. We had travelled from Austria to see my husband's very elderly relatives. Because we have two dogs we drove and brought them with us. One of our dogs has developed a floor phobia and the staff couldn't do enough to help us all get seated and make sure our 8 y.o. golden retriever, Molly, was secure. Everything about this pub was wonderful: the friendliness and kindness of the staff, the quality of the food and the overall light-hearted atmosphere. It was one stop among many on our travels but we'd love the opportunity to return to this amazing pub😄👏🏻😄

As a very fussy eater- ie i love perfection in cooking if I am going to pay for it - delighted with the seabass cooked beautifully with a lovely crispy skin, the kale cooked perfectly, the potatoes exceeded my expectations and all married together with a well seasoned rich creamy sauce - I haven't stopped dreaming about it!!! Just the right portion and a good balance of carb:protein: veg ratio. Compliments to the chef. I work 2mins down the road - Will definitely be back!

Had, mixed roast, beef and pork, followed by bread and butter pudding. Absolute quality. It's a big dinner and great produce. Justin and his staff, do a wonderful job. Paul

10 of us had Christmas lunch yesterday. Food (2 course main and dessert) was fabulous. Service was great too and because I’d emailed ahead of our booking we got our main meal really quickly. A big thank you all for making our lunch so festive!

Having been twice in a week and had excellent service and food on both occasions, I would recommend The Duke of York unreservedly. The only quibble is that they could offer a broader range of vegetarian options

Venue is lovely and our group of 18 had an excellent (almost private) space. Absolutely can't fault the food, it was top drawer and the whole party was in agreement. Service and then the wait for drinks was agonising, not once, but on every occasion that we ordered. We would have had plenty more to drink if the service was there. The staff knew it and did nothing, pathetic. Not fitting with every other box that was ticked, a real shame.

A very British experience with a nice kitchen

Ate the vegan selection yesterday & it was amazing. The beetroot houmous was great and the mighty burger was out of this world. Don't get me started on the onion ring that came with the burger.... Banging lol. Definitely would go again. My only criticism was the customer service was a bit flat. The staff are not big on smilling especially this bald headed guy that was floating around the bar 🤦🏾‍♀️ He looked very stern and unhappy, particularly when we asked about vegan wine choice. Vegans annoy him maybe loool. Other than that, we brought our own energy so it wasn't a big deal. Food was great so thank you 😊

Attended the Duke of York Pub the other day with my family and had a really great time. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the service was superb and food was delicious. I ordered the Steak Burger and it was very tasty, beautifully cooked and the sauce it came with complimented the dish so perfectly. Will definitely be going again for another Burger!

Not the most welcoming environment and the prices are very high for the overall quality. I had a burger, which was small and didn't taste of beef at all. It had the consistency of processed sausage meat. I will not go back there.

The pub is beautiful inside, with a lovely open fire. The servers are also brilliant and friendly. However, they were playing the radio with awful music. I would recommend that this place play some nice gentle classical music or jazz, because the radio pop music is really off-putting. We are regular customers here so I hope this constructive criticism is taken into account 😊

Found on Google Maps when looking for a real ale pub close to M25. Duke of York was a very short diversion from Junction 23 on M25 on the Old Barnet Road at around 2.5 miles. Bars were very light and a lovely real fire burned in the grate. We arrived about 2.30 and served by the very pleasant bar staff. Meals were still being available and I had the open prawn sandwich, which was served on a thick slice of sourdough bread and was delicious. My husband just wanted a portions of chips and enjoyed his beer. He said there was a good choice of real ales. The pub was an excellent stop to give us a break from the M25 on a very wet and murky afternoon.

Nice place but food expensive for what it was. The main I had was buttermilk chicken burget and chips for £17 and you would expect a salad with it for that price at least! The coffee came without the flapjack mentioned because they had run out! We had to ask why. Service was fine.

Excellent food with a great choice offered on a daily menu - I had sausage and mash which was perfect and both the vegetarian curry and chicken burger were delicious. Proper draft available and I preferred the Kodiak to the Side-pocket but both were too easy to drink. Hot drink and a choice of 3 mini desserts is the less calorific choice- I went for the crumble and the filling was delicious- maybe the crumble a bit too loose and “packet-esque“ the only minor crumb of critique. Friendly service, and although bit of a wait for the food I thought it was worth it. Also there’s a scheme to give you tokens toward your next meal and I hope to be back to use them soon.
