We visit The Dry Spy quite frequently for in my opinion, the best Sunday lunch locally. Last night, along with friends we visited on a Wednesday evening to try the fixed price midweek special menu. Absolutely brilliant, plenty of choice, great to have option of 1 = £12, 2 = £15 or 3 =£18 priced courses, all good size portions. The steak on mains is fabulous, as was the fish & chips. Staff so welcoming & attentive.

Came here for a couples Sunday lunch. Initially sat downstairs but had to ask to move because the music was so loud, quieter upstairs. I couldn’t otherwise have stayed - but the waitress was lovely, did offer to turn it down. Food was out of this world, every aspect of the Sunday lunch was exceptionally good. The beef was the best I can ever remember having on a Sunday lunch. Chocolate brownie for dessert was perfect - a league above the usual. Service was excellent, despite being the only people upstairs the staff were up and down frequently to check on us. Pricing absolutely reasonable for such quality, would definitely return.

We visited the dry spy on the weekend as part of a wedding party. We had privately hired the top floor which is an amazing space for private events, the decor was amazing but what really set this place apart was the service, everyone we spoke to was super friendly and professional, we were made to feel really welcome. The food was great (especially the pork belly) and the actual dinner service was really efficient and on point. They had an 18th birthday party after us and they manage our departure and setting up for the next party with real class. its clearly a great place to hire for events like birthdays and weddings i wouldn't think twice about hiring for an event. Management are doing a great job of offering something classy with a really friendly feel, their team are a credit to how well the whole place is organised. the cocktails are unreal too!

This restaurant has a great ambience and the service is friendly and efficient. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the food. I had fish and chips which came with tartar sauce, chips and luke warm mushy peas. The fish didn't taste freshly cooked and the batter was quite hard. My wife had sea bass which she didn't rave about but found acceptable. I could've told the waitress when she enquired if everything was OK but I just answered quietly 'not too bad' as the people at the next table were close enough to have heard otherwise. The two main courses and a bottle of wine came to £63 so no bargain in my opinion. Very near to where we live there's a newly refurbished gastro pub where we often eat but we went to the Dry Spy for a change which in order to have a drink involved taxi fares of nearly £20. I'm happy to spend money on a good night out but this wasn't the case this time.

Lovely, classy venue. Amazingly all ages come in here - suitable for cool, sophisticated younger generation to moms & lads meet ups. We ate steak which was SO tasty. Kitchen is a proper kitchen - not just a fast food place. If I was to moan at all it would be that the music on the terrace is so so loud - I can only imagine how disturbing this is for the nursing home next door. Will without a doubt be back to our seats for two at the bar!

Excellent service from the attentive staff. Any questions about the drinks menu were answered by the staff and some good suggestions made about what to try. The cocktail menu is great with a wide variety of drinks to suit all tastes. Good surroundings, lovely drinks and a great atmosphere. Drinks are at the upper end of the pricing scale but they were all excellent. There seemed to be a really nice crowd in there which added to the relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be returning, thank you for a lovely afternoon/evening.

Fabulous venue, lovely atmosphere, great staff. The balcony area and garden is particularly nice. My only issue would be the food. Ate there last night and it really wasn't good. We had fish and chips and the fish was definitely a piece of frozen from the supermarket. Not that I have a problem with that, but it doesn't warrant the price. There was a drag act appearing - Santana Rouge, she was absolutely amazing and a lovely idea on a Thursday night

Well what can I say! Finally got the chance to try this lovely cafe. Went with a friend for breakfast, the menu was great, lots to choose from, we had the Courtyard breakfast which was lovely, this consisted of 1 sausage, 1 bacon, hash brown, mushrooms, tomato’s, beans and toast and I’ve got to say it was top quality food and made fresh. Fantastic little cafe. I will be returning to try the afternoon tea. Highly recommended! 👍

This place has been closed for a few years now due to the owner sadly passing away unexpectedly. She was a lovely lady and in the short time that she owned the place, she transformed it.

What a sweet find! We had a gorgoes afternoon tea at the potting shed. Elli and her team made us feel so welcome and created a beautiful memory to cherish. All the guests were stunned by the beautiful location, cosy feel, great team, and incredible afternoon tea. Great value for money. Definitely best afternoon tea around!

I was here at brunch time today and a young chap, I didn’t quite catch his name but I think it was digbee, he served me my brunch. And he was quite rude at first as he just slammed my drinks on the table and walked off, didn’t say a word or didn’t smile. I let that go and decided to carry on with my day; but then when he came to collect my drinks and proceeded to swear under his breath and say “this fat b****” . I found this extremely enraging and unkind. As a result of this young disrespectful chap, I won’t be approaching this cafe any time again! Disgraceful!
