Food was deliciously prepared! Real authentic Jamaican food. I had curry goat and jerk chicken. Exceptional service was provided by our waiter Henry, who was very attentive and pleasant.

This is our second time visiting The Drop. Shout out to our guy Henry that made our visits extra special. Food was great, we had Curry goat, lamb chops, Merck chicken and escoveitch fish with a pitcher of rum punch. We sat outside this time and the view was nice.

Stumbled across this place on our visit to Manchester. The food was deliiiiiiicious, and I’ve never tried Jamaican food so it set the bar very high. We had the Hench drop box with jerk chicken and curry goat, grilled lamb chops, rum punch and the white chocolate and raspberry brownie. Anna was lovely and made sure we were looked after, and gave great recommendations. Would 100% recommend and we will be coming up to Manchester to eat here again!

Chill and casual bistro with really good Caribbean food and friendly service (thanks Henry!) I reccomend getting one of the 'Hench boxes' which is a good way of getting a taste of all the different dishes. We had two of those and a side dish between three of us and it was plenty.

After reading the reviews we visited today what a disappointment. Think the menu is over priced but being in Chorlton understandable. Service quite slow and waited a while for food and when it came wasn’t what we ordered. We ordered 2 curry goat and rice but received 2 vegetable curries. You could tell by looking at it wasn’t curry goat and felt like we had done something wrong by the way it was checked and taken away. We ordered rice and peas and presumed as Caribbean would be traditional rice and peas but was rice with sweet corn and green peas. Ordered a pint of 7up as stated in menu for £3.85 and it was a can of 7up that price over the top. My meat was mainly bone which I know comes on the bone but hardly any meat and my daughter hardly had any meat and full of gravy. No one asked us how our meal was or if we were ok, went to pay the bill and still no one asked and we left and not even a goodbye or thank you. Customer service very poor. We wasn’t made to feel welcome or valued and the £5 service charge an insult to the experience we received. Couple came in and were told to sit where they like, a family had parts of the child’s food missing and not a good atmosphere to have the music go off and your staff arguing very loudly in the back for quite some time. Definitely not a Caribbean restaurant at its best. Maybe your staff could visit the progress restaurant down the road as they definitely know how to cook and serve good food. Sorry to say we wouldn’t come back Photo x 2 shows the bones I left and the 3rd is my daughter that was more gravy which is a shame as one plus is the meat was seasoned well. If you reply I would ask if the chef is Caribbean

I have been to the Drop a couple of times now and it never disappoints! The Hench boxes are sensational. The food is so tasty and we all enjoyed. There were 9 of us at the meal and we will be sure to visit again. Definitely recommend if you have never been.

What a lovely night out! I wanted a date night but honestly I didn't wanna spend £100, I didn't want a stuffy place and I didn't want to overpay for average food. The Drop was so tasty, excellent food, great cocktails and a fun atmosphere.

The experience was fantastic the meal portions were amazing, felt the care with every single plate. Phoebe, Jack and Bella provided amazing service and it's good to them have big smiles as they bought the food out! Highly recommend.

The food was amazing. This is the second time we have visited. We ordered two of the hench drop boxes and extra chicken gravy. Good value for money. We will definitely be back

Food is unbelievably hit and miss and not entirely authentic. (Had 3 times) The ‘jerk’ chicken is closer to stew chicken than anything. The curry goat is made with Jalapeños instead of scotch bonnet. (Never order separately otherwise they water it down) The most authentic tasting thing probably was the rice and peas + dumplings. Mac and cheese was nice. Try and catch them on a good day.

Very bad experience - avoid! I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. I have never been in a position where I make a reservation via email and then receive confirmation of this, only to drive for 40 mins to a restaurant to find out that it is not open for service until 2 hours later! The staff were not even surprised that this had happened as it has apparently been going on for weeks where people have been turning up at random times - yet the issue hasn't been addressed! To make matters worse, some of the staff started getting angry that we had turned up at that time. PS: I took down my initial review after the team emailed me to let me know they would investigate the matter and get back to me. It has been about 2 months now and no further response from them about this. I think this just re-iterates my points above. Avoid this place!

We drive all the way from Southport specifically to visit the Drop and it did not disappoint! Ordered the jerk haloumi which was so fresh and tasty. Then for mains the curry chicken and jerk chicken. All of the meat was tender and fell off...

I went there for my sons birthday. We drove 45 mins just to try it out and I have to say this was some of the best Caribbean food we have had in Manchester. The Zombie pitcher was everything and to top it all off the lovely black waitress was really nice and so polite to my family. She was working on her own at the front on the 04/03/24 and she made the overall experience at the restaurant so great, just wish I asked for her name so I could put it on here. Definitely would Recommend and I’m definitely coming back!!!!!

This is a restaurant that is run by people who really know how to cool a great meal, but have no idea how to run a restaurant. The food is fantastic but as for the service, well I don’t make this comment lightly, but it’s probably the worst service of any restaurant in the city, maybe the country. Complete shambles of a restaurant, but somewhat forgiven for the great food. Maybe worth a visit once but not somewhere to go to regularly, that’s for sure

I love Carribean food and this is by far the best I've had in Manchester. Lovely decor inside the small, quaint restaurant. We had the jerk chicken and the curry goat. The curry goat was sensational and really delicious with a side of macaroni cheese....

It was busy so naturally service wasn't perfect (slight mix up with dish etc) but food was very tasty. Since it was half price food and drink for January, it was amazing value. The decor was good. Also the staff were quite friendly and altogether a chilled and colourful vibe

Booked a table for 12pm today was told to come back at 12.45pm as the store wasn’t ready to open which is fine I myself am a restaurant manager and know this stuff can happen. When we did get served it stated on the menu £3.95 for a pint of soda they didn’t have any grape soda left so I asked for ting, the ting came in a small glass so I basically paid £4 for a can of ting! Which is crazy!!! Also ordered a second coke was also not a pint n was charged another £4!! Good food and I was changed for something on the menu that I ordered that they also didn’t have only realised when I left.

Since moving to Chorlton, The Drop has become one of our 'go to' takeaways and, when the mood takes us, restaurants to visit. Always reasonably priced (especially in January when they have had offers on this year and in the past!), with really tasty Carribbean food, I'd highly recommend it either as a takeaway or as somewhere to eat in. On the takeaway side of things, me and my partner usually order a hench box between us, along with some extra dumplings. And that's usually enough for the two of us! We're big fans of the goat in particular, but the jerk chicken is also good. We tend to get a takeaway from here every couple of months or so, and have no complaints at all about any of them - the food is always great. On eating in, again our experience has always been great! However, you can expect it to be quite busy and tight for space at times (it's not the biggest restaurant, size wise). This is especially the case around weekends or when an offer is on. If you aren't a fan of bustle then it might not be for you, but me and my partner quite like that side of it - it really adds to the atmosphere I'd say, personally. The food is great and when we last visited, we had the curried goat, the pepper steak with spinners, some rice and peas, and dumplings. It all tasted fab - strong flavour, a nice kick of spice without being overpowering, with plenty of the rice and dumplings to mop up the sauce. It was fantastic, and we both finished our plates which was no mean feat, as they were generous portions! There's a range of drinks you can get alongside the meal, and when we last visited we stuck with the beers. However, they also do a range of cocktails too. We visited during the January food offer, so for our two drinks, mains and sides, plus service, it came to just over £30. An absolute bargain, for what we got! And definitely reasonable at full price too. Service when we visited was also good, with the caveat that the place is very busy and so it can feel a bit chaotic at times (which isn't a bad thing as I think it adds to the charm!). But on quite a hectic evening with the restaurant pretty full, we were seated, had our order taken, were served our food, and paid without any problems and with good service throughout. All in all, a really good place to either dine in or get a takeaway, and during January a must visit as it is an absolute bargain!

The Drop serves the best Caribbean food you can get. The service has always been questionable, but on our last visit that was brilliant too. If things are going slowly, just focus on the food and get over it.

Absolutely amazing food! Both me and my wife had the Henchbox so we got to try 4 different things from the menu. Our son had the lamb chops, everything was lovely and really fresh and as for the dumplings WOW! We was with a party of 15 and everyone was more than happy with everything. Service was fantastic, Brandon really went above and beyond for use! Highly recommended👌

I came here tonight as a large group/family. We may not of been an easy group to serve as everyone was arriving at different times, and some needed to leave early than others. So we were ordering in dribs & drabs, which must have been frustrating/confusing for staff. But our servers were patient. Especially the Gentleman named Brandon & unfortunately I did not get the 2nd Gentleman's name. But both were as equally polite & helpful. A big thank you to the chefs to, the food was lovely & plentiful! I even had enough to bring home, which will suffice for lunch in work tomorrow! Thank you for a pleasant evening. 😊

We've been to the The Drop a few times over the years and quite enjoyed, but this evening was different and I can only put it down to firstly being approached by a super friendly, efficient server (Brandon). Brandon was such a delight to have serve us. Nothing bothered him at all. Brandon was quick, knowledgeable and friendly. Place is very homely and cosy, food is nice and would say it’s better than the one in the city centre, however I wouldn’t pay £20 for the hench box for what’s given. Service was also poor and seemed disorganised, didn’t even ask how things were and just didn’t get a friendly vibe at all from them, I’d usually oversee this if it was busy but it wasn’t at the time we went.

Undoubtedly some of the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had! I can’t vouch for the restaurant as I’ve never eaten in but we order from here a lot and it is just delicious. Portion sizes are really good too! Has that home cooked taste. Honestly, a thousand compliments to the chef 👏🏽

First time visiting Jimmy and friends restaurant - I was very impressed. I remember Jimmy from college days and I love supporting small businesses especially when it belongs to a person from my own community. Food was delish, drinks were super. There was a homeless person who had wandered in and the way Jimmy handled the situation was inspiring. Thank you see you again.

Appalling management left 2 underaged staff to run a busy service and they couldn't manage. The kitchen was full of staff having a laugh all night while the front was absolutely getting smashed. Evident of poor ownership and management

A favourite of my local restaurants and some of the tastiest food in Chorlton. The curried goat, jerk chicken and mac & cheese are insanely good, albiet slightly pricey. Drinks are also delicious and fresh - the ginger mojito is a must-try, and happy hour starts at 9 so a winner in my book. The service is usually so-so, although my most recent visit I was served by Eve who was fantastic.

Was really looking forward in trying a Sunday dinner with a twist, I did look at the reviews and their Instagram which tempted me to go with a friend and try this place out. AS IT LOOKED REALLY GOOD!! Unfortunately when they bought the Sunday Roast which I ordered it came with two missing items and lacked items also including the mash and steamed veg and it only came with one roast potato (one segment of a potato cut ) same with the sweet potato. The gravy wasn’t great and didn’t go with the Caribbean food taste. They finally did bring the missing items after complaining and it wasn’t what I expected at all. Rushed mash and just peas and sweetcorn steamed which isn’t Caribbean at all! So disappointed tbh.. Tasted good but incomplete and doesn’t match up to what the menu says just shows they are lazy and just whip anything together so it looked good. Wasn’t given any discount on the poor service or missing food and we paid over £85+ for. Wouldn’t recommend tbh.

Wonderful place, on arrival feels like a casual beach bar with lively music and although the the vibe was good I was a bit concerned it might not end up as good as I had seen the foot to be in Manchester's finest. But nothing to worry about the service was friendly relaxed and very good. The pitchers of rum punch were excellent enough strength to know you were drinking a run punch but still fruity and tasty. Then to the food, the henchboxes were excellent we mixed and matched so managed to try the succulent jerk chicken, the spicy salt fish, the spicy lamb chops charred to perfection and the best curried goat I have tasted. Served with a really tasty coconut and peas rice, plantains to die for and lovely not dry dumpling. All for a very reasonable price. I will be back.

Walked in and nice decor the music in the background made it very chilled out. A lot of options for adults and children, my son devoured his choice as so did I. Went on to a generous pudding which we both shared and it was so good. Waitress was lovely, very accommodating and happy to help at any point. Lovely atmosphere and will visit again in the not so far future.

Has this changed hands? We came just before Xmas and again in February, however upon returning today the food was nowhere near the usual standard. I'm not hear to complain about my experience & nit pick because I could have done this whilst there in person. I came to see other reviews. I hope The Drop sort it out, as our previous visits have been outstanding for food, service & overall experience.. unfortunately today wasn't the one 😩

We had a meal for 4 here on a Sunday evening. We were absolutely blown away by the food. Real authentic Caribbean jerk chicken, chops and goat were outstanding. Our server Isabella was very attentive.

Everything tasted just right, like home-cooked food. Would gladly go there again, a very colourful place with great happy-looking cocktails and a fun selection of deliciously creamy custard brownies :)
