delivery driver very nice and friendly

Food was freezing cold not acceptable I want a full refund the food was inedible arrived late totally unacceptable

Dinner was massive for the price and tasty

nice but asked for no parsnips but got them away

I was a little concerned when the delivery driver asked for my “PIN number”. I eventually realised he needed the delivery code. Otherwise all good.

Good portion of food, really tasty homemade Sunday roast. 4 meals ordered enjoyed by all. Would definitely order again

Lovely place lovely food, The only thing I can say is the place is so cold. It would be more better if you could take your coat off to enjoy your meal but too cold to do that x

the only thing stopping this getting 5 stars is that even though I'm like 10mins away it came stone cold!! everything else absolutely banging

Perfect Black Country pub. Went there to play poker on a Thursday night. Lovely people, all welcoming and good to chat to. Good food, including genuine Chinese fare. Staff were friendly and helpful. Copious parking, easy access. From other peoples' stories, I was expecting good things from The Dovecote and I was not let down. I'm led to believe that it can get busy on Sundays, but there's a lot of space, so go and enjoy yourselves.

WAS REALLY DISSAPOINTED ,MASH WAS VILE,PEAS HARD,MEAT WAS LIKE PREPACKED MEATS NOT FROM A JOINT AND PUDDING WAS JUST A SUPERMARKET FROZEN ONE NOTHING LIKE SHOWN ON PICTURES,CREAM WASN'T A THICK CREAM IT WAS LIKE MILK

Food was lovely. very tasty. decent quantity. All fresh and good quality. arrived nice and quickly. Courier was friendly. Only mistake made was given custard with the one pudding instead of the cream ordered but it was still enjoyed so no harm done. A++++

A wonderful Sunday carvery. Plenty of potatoes, veg and meats. Delivered early too. Very pleased with my first time trying a carvery from here!

2024 Changing my review as I came in yesterday and was disappointed by the service. I came to the bar to buy a carvery. Tall guy and girl with glasses were there. Guy was serving someone and the girl was just standing there, basically looking like she didn’t want to be there. Another customer up to the bar on the other side and she went over to serve him but ignored me! The guy server was in front of me pouring a pint (a FULL pint if he was trying it to test it this is NOT true! I wasn’t born yesterday!) and he noticed me roll my eyes and tut (I very nearly walked out) and he said Ild be next. After pouring the FULL pint he proceeded to take a swig out of it in front of me and then served me!! Why on earth do you let your staff drink alcohol whilst on shift especially in front of customers it’s very unprofessional and again he seemed like he didn’t want to be there. I was shocked but because I was so hungry I ordered my carvery (he didn’t ask if I wanted a drink) and left the bar. The carvery itself was basic and bland I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to make it taste more better. It’s going to be a while before I step foot here again, somethings definitely changed here. EDIT in reply to you - there’s not a chance he poured that pint to test it, don’t pull the wool over my eyes. Why would he pull a FULL pint to test?!? Yes I’ve been coming for 3 years on and off but the food has gotten worse and the service even more so. …………… This review made in 2021 Just moved into the area and had to try this out. I did pick a busy day but the food was fantastic. Quick service and piping hot Carvery, much better than other places I’ve been to. Lots of families here which to me shows it’s a popular place with the locals.

Unfortunately, in this case, my presence at the Dovecotes was for a wake, after a relative had died. Having said that, the buffet supplied by the management was superb. A wide range of foods were available including various sandwiches, snacks and pies, chicken drumsticks, spring rolls, savouries cheese and pineapple plus much more. Back in the main room, the daily carvery was available, and being as I have actually tasted the carvery at a previous visit, I have got to say it was excellent, with all the usual carvery suspects to choose from, and it was good value too. On the down side, the pub could do with upgrading the decor and improving the quantity of beer selection. The dreary and dated, dimly lit surroundings spoil the enjoyment of the excellent food.

Had our first carvery from Dovecoat and was really nice with plenty of choice, food was delivered in good time and was still warm when we got it. Everything was packed well and plenty of food, will definately order again.

main meal worth the money plenty of food. didn't drain the veg well though and there was water in the bag. but food was hot. and would order again.... however Just don't order a main and dessert together they put my chocolate cake with cream ontop of the piping got food which resulted in a melted watery stodgy cake (well what was left of the cake) . so won't be ordering a dessert next time. but worth the money for the main and not having to cook. quick delivery.

If you like a carvery or are able to eat meat then it seems to have a good carvery and some good options on the Chinese menu. Unfortunately they had no vegetarian options as an alternative to the carvery and their Chinese menu had very limited vegetarian options too. I had some spring rolls and egg fried rice in the end. The staff were very friendly and kind.

CARVERY- The mash was like water, absolutely nothing had flavour except the stuffing ball which was rock solid and I think was a frozen one anyway.

Lovely food definitely one of my favourite go to if I’ve had a long day and can’t be bothered to cook.

We enjoy going to this establishment due to one amazing person Becky… she’s attentive, holds a laugh and a conversation with us each week and goes out of her way to meet our families requirements. This place would be as good as it is without her cheerful smile to greet us each week…

Just eat deliverey driver awful it went to wrong address finally got to mine hour late i gave him code he asked me for extra 5 pound because he went to wrong house and would not give me food after i paid for it

Not many in but enjoyed food I had beef carvery and my guess had pork and turkey all the meat was very tender lady who was in charge very friendly and happy to help she carried my plate to our table without me asking because I am disabled I would recommend

Food is 10-10 but customer service was shocking!!! I order the carvery every week via delivery but today was going to be nearby so thought I’ll pop in & collect…lady on shift didn’t smile, no greeting, I’m in the hospitality business these are the very basics..disappointed to say the least

Food wasnt wat i was expecting u dont have sour kraut on a sunday dinner sadly resturant didnt advertise saur kraut was on the carvery menu so had to throw 3 dinners in the bin 31 quid wasted will never eat here again

Came to this pub to have a beer. Can't comment on how the food was as I'm not generally a carvery fan and didn't try it, but there were a few annoying flies buzzing around inside which would've put me off anyway. Lady behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming. The place itself was quite dingey inside. There was an outdoor area though, which looked ok in the sunshine. Good sized carpark, so no inconvenience if visiting by car.

I hadn't been to the dovecote for about 8 yrs but went Saturday evening with my friend and I wasn't disappointed,the food was beautiful and the staff really helpful and friendly so today we decided to have a carvery delivered and once agen the food was lovely,nice and hot and plenty of ìt,I will definitely be ordering again🤩

Not great. Meat cold, roasters looked like they were cooked under the heat lamp fair few flies in the carvey area only positives of the carvery was stuffing and gravy, plenty of better carveries near by won't return again

This pub is on the main road (hill top) it has it's own car park for quite a few cars. Inside a bar, dining room, party room and Carvery room. Nice clean atmosphere friendly staff, Chinese eat-in and take away. Kids menu available. Carvery has four types of meat and boiled vegetables, mash and gravy. Very delicious must try. Dovecote has introduced a reward card where you have to purchase a Carvery and have the card stamped 3 Stamps, gets you 1free draught soft drink, 6 Stamps gets you free dessert when you buy a Carvery. On complete card 1free Carvery.

I think this place had it's glorious times few decades ago. It's ok, to have a drink there, but I won't be back there with pleasure.

Food wasn't too bad Yorkshire puddings were hard as rock dessert was OK had lemon meringue so can't go wrong really hubby had fudge cake said wasn't good. Decor is very dated carpet needs replacing and toilets are out of the 80's quite expensive really have been to cheaper and better

It's not were I live but we been twice now with brother in law who lives that way and it's a lovely carvery and has a lot of different foods to have very nice meal

Good food but would not serve me a vodka because I was with my son who's 18 and I might have gave it to him, I go regularly but today staff was moaning that they was short staff and we will get our dessert when she can ... and stated that she was running the kitchen and bar on her own. And half the dessert on the menu was out of stock. Really gone down hill since new management.

Roast potatoes where deep fried and dry. Mash needed seasoning. The onion gravy was nice and veg was cooked well. ordered fudge cake and came with cream already poured on it so was soggy when I came to eat it. alot of room for improvement. won't order again

Absolutely probably one of the best carvery’s I’ve had as of late. The TC I had the other day was awful so tried somewhere new and so glad I did!! Yummy!! Those veggies!

Ordered through deliveroo Not impressed with the food Mash is lumpy and dry Stuffing ball overcooked and dry Roast potatoes dry Meat very salty Veg tastes like it was cooked in a Chinese restaurant Overall awful carvery will not be ordering from here again Gave it to the dog and even she wouldn’t eat it

not good the roasties were black and dry like they had been keeping warm all day mash potatoes were like water not taste , veg was ok though, when I have eaten in the restaurant it is nice, so why is a take away not as good

Highly recommend. had 3 dinners but we all wanted different so left a note for how I wanted each dinner, I must say they followed the note perfectly and everything was spot on. Great value for the money and food is fantastic, thanks again.

Food portions and quality was great as always. However it did arrive cold this time round due to being delivered by bike 🤦‍♀️ Not ideal for 4 Sunday roast dinners, all had to be reheated.

The carvery is horrible my 3rd visit today the food is bland with a funny taste. Never will I be eating here, even though it’s very local to me. The bar staff no faults. The music was also a bit loud.

no mention of onions cherry tomatoes leeks peppers bamboo shoots being smothered all over the top made everything tatse the same and we don't like onions so made it inedible

Went there for Xmas dinner on 25 December for the Family the Starter was lovely we had waiter service for the First Part and a tiny Sherry but it was Tiny a nice mince pie the vegs could be cook a bit more until softer but do not like the custard we had a great time first ever meal out on Xmas

I visit this place most Sundays for a carvery and have never been disappointed. There are always 4 meats to choose from and a good selection of vegetables. I can recommend a visit.

Food was lovely, first time we have ordered , pricey for kids carvery . Could do with doing proper roast potatoes instead of frozen that was all that was missing
