The Dove Inn in Winchester

Lovely pub, great atmosphere. Really welcoming and friendly. Nice to be able to take the dogs in, the food was Devine and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went on Saturday and went back for Sunday lunch because we loved the food so much. Highly recommend

We visited here today for our Wedding anniversary lunch while on a forest lodge break a short distance away. What a great little find. The food was absolutely amazing and you could tell it was made with love and care. The set up inside is really beautiful, tastefully decorated with a great little lid burner for those cold days. It’s a must visit while in the area and we highly recommend it. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful experience today, we will definitely be back next time we are on the mainland.

We booked a couple of nights at The Dove Inn as my wife and her friend were doing a tour of the local gin distillery. What a lovely find - Charlie the landlord, his wife, all the staff and locals were really friendly and welcoming. Over the two days we had breakfast, lunch and an evening meal and all were delicious and it was particularly nice to try authentic Polish food, beer and even whisky, which Charlie opened especially for us to try. Clean and comfortable rooms, a quiet and relaxing location - couldn't ask for more. Possibly the best stay in a pub I've ever had so well done to everyone and thanks for making our stay such a lovely experience!

My sister and I stayed here for 1 night and thought the whole establishment was just wonderful! We arrived relatively late and were greeted by super friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely, clean and tidy with everything we needed. We enjoyed a drink in the beer garden after check-in (can thoroughly recommend the passion fruit cloudy lemonade - we both aren’t big drinkers so really appreciated the wide range of non-alcoholic drinks that were on offer). The beer garden is beautifully decorated and it’s clear to see so much thought went in to the design. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning - again, plenty of options to choose from, and it was delicious. The whole experience was wonderful, and we only wish we could have stayed for longer! We will definitely be back if we are ever this way again - thank you so much for a lovely stay!

A very nice pub, with good food and also overnight accommodation. Ample parking and close to the railway station. The family run pub was very friendly. If booking accommodation pick your room with care as one room faces the railway.

I visited The Dove twice, once for lunch and once for an evening meal. On both occasions me and my family thought the food and service were first class. Good menu with a very varied selection as well as a specials board. Nice choice of beers too. I enjoyed trying a couple of the Polish dishes that were on offer. Would not hesitate to recommend.

We were very glad to have found this place for a lovely relaxing Sunday lunch. Great pub, with good service and an interesting menu which included Sunday Roasts (I had the succulent beef), classic pub grub and a selection of Polish dishes in a nod to the owner’s heritage - we tried some starters and they were very tasty. We were staying at the nearby Forest Holiday Lodges and will definitely return when we come again.

We happened upon this pub on a Friday lunchtime, as we were cycling to a weekend away at Blackwood Forest. Enjoyed a lovely lunch (sandwich for me, chicken schnitzel for my partner) by the fire with a glass of mulled wine - heaven! Booked in for dinner the next evening, and the lovely team were so accommodating and let us have the Christmas menu. Again the food and atmosphere were great, especially in the restaurant. However, we then moved to the bar area to watch the end of the football game, and decided to leave as soon as it was over, due to the unpleasant behaviour of a group of regulars, who were behaving in a pretty disgusting manner towards one of the female bar staff, calling her a ‘cow’ at one point. She stood up for herself, but it was a pity the couple who appeared to own the place weren’t around to tell them to pipe down, as it rather put us off staying for another drink. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the lovely food and staff at this pub - but they are being let down by the behaviour of a few drunk blokes.

We are staying at the Forest Retreat and decided to come here on our last evening for a birthday meal for my husband. We did book as we were unsure how busy they would be. When we got there we were given the choice of where we sat and were served pretty quickly. They didn’t have the drink I wanted but that was ok as they offered an alternative. We had nachos to begin which was very nice. We both had a burger (cheesy and halloumi) both were absolutely delicious. We both left feeling comfortably full and would definitely return if we were to visit the area again.

The Landlord and staff have little understanding of dealing with the public The decorating is by Matalan and they charge London prices for very moderate food They did not remove the inedible burger from the bill and the waitresses were not trained to deal with a complaint Probably the worst food we have had for years Certainly the worst welcome and service Never again

this village pub is well worth a visit. From the warm welcome to when we left all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The well stocked bar with a wide range of drinks was a good start, the real ales on offer were very nice. The menu offered a good variety of food and nice to get a choice away from all the usual fare. I had the polish dumplings and got to say never had them before but what a treat!and all this for a very reasonable price.looking forward to visiting again soon.

The New Owners and Chef are all from Rick Stein in Winchester. They have just taken over and the changes are fabulous. it is still work in progress but you can see that this is going to become a prime dining pub in the area. Very Welcome!

We have been staying in the Forest Holiday lodges and have to give a big thumbs up to The Dove Inn which is just down the road. Excellent service by the staff, the food was excellent. They were happy to let us eat with the dog as it wasn't too busy in the restaurant.Thank you so much we will definitely be back.

We were looking for somewhere to eat for a party of 9 on a Tuesday evening. We rang and were told that last orders for food were at 7.45, we arrived 7.30 and were met by Joanna who was serving behind the bar , taking orders and serving the food. Nothing was too much trouble for Joanna, the menu was slightly limited but the adult portions were good and the standard of food was very good too. One of our children had fish fingers , 2 fish fingers came out and when we asked for another 2 it was no problem and were brought out quite quickly.Overall we were very pleased with our meals and the service by Joanna made the visit more pleasurable. I would recommend calling through first and be mindful last food order is 8pm on a week day. Would definitely go back again.

Found this as literally just off A303 whilst travelling back up from the South West. The food was lovely, the welcome was very warm and the pub itself done very nicely. When we arrived we did think it was closed though as the front door is a big heavy duty one which didn't lend itself to making the pub look inviting. However we persevered and ventured in and all glad we did. Menu is varied. Pizzas steaks baguettes and jackets at lunch. It was a Monday lunchtime and there was only one other table in which is a shame as this pub is well worth a visit.

We visited the Dove Inn on Sunday afternoon, booked a table and heard they did good roasts so decided to give it a go. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious and the portions were massive. Great value for money. Lovely setting and the restaurant was comfortable. Really enjoyed it and would go back again.

We arrived from London and received a warm and fun welcome. The food was delicious and all home made. The Sunday Roast includes a plate top up if you are still hungry. Highly recommend and definitely returning. Definitely worth the drive. We appreciated the generous portions and value for money.

We stopped in here for dinner a couple of weeks ago on our travels, I checked the reviews first so all looked good. This is a lovely little place and I feel bad for marking it down, but the food was so poor. To be honest, I should have sent it back, but I hate getting into a discussion when I have already paid for food at the bar.We had the chefs special lasagne. Although it looked really nice, what it actually was, was some mince meat cooked in gravy with some melted cheese on top. I eat it, was like having cheesy mince and chips but my girlfriend didn't eat more than one mouthful.

I have visited the dove inn twice in the last week as it is very local to me what a great find why did I not discover it before would have gone there more often if I had realised how good it was ,on both occasions the food was excellent service was excellent what more could you want ,will be returning many more times . I had the beer battered fish which was delicious ,my family had the pizza which they said was the best ever ,on my return visit I opted for the fish again and my guest thoroughly enjoyed the steak and ale pie ,which was equally good . Had lunch here whilst staying at forest holidays down the road. Friendly staff and opted for the basket meal option. Nice enough but compared to the other 4 pubs visited for lunch this came last in terms of preference.

We were staying in a cabin at Forest Holidays. We met friends and had a table of 15 to celebrate my 50th birthday. I liaised with Chris prior to the booking and he was very helpful and accommodating. The food was great, something for everyone. Nice ales and wines, brilliant.We were told at Forest Holidays that there was no short cut to the Dove and they don't recommend it. I have no idea why, there is a short cut (follow the yellow route on the map until you see Pickfords then turn right), it was a thirty minute walk from our cabin - you don't need go out of the main entrance. And the Dove Inn is fab! Do go there.

Came with the family during a weekend stay at the nearby forest holidays, was quiet but friendly staff and nice home cooked food. Pool table and juke box available. Dog friendly.

My fiancé and I popped in after a horrendous day xmas shopping in Winchester. We were met by Chris the Landlord who offered us a table in the restaurant. We ordered a bottle of Rioja which he served on a tray with two large glasses. The wine was delicious and served at perfect room temperature. We sat at a table next to a inviting wood burner. We ordered a pate starter and there home made special chilli and rice. Comfort food. We did not expect anything special but we're delighted with the excellent service and quality of the food. These guys really take interest in what they do. After the meal we sat in the bar and had another drink. A wide range of quality drinks plus cracking real ales. We got talking to Chris again and a couple that Chris had arranged to drop of to a party on his own car. He asked where we were going and we said we were going to get a taxi to Andover. He said so worry about that, I'll drop you home. A that is exactly what he did and would not accept any payment. I honestly cannot fault any thing. To be honest it completely restored my faith in the human race lol. Seriously, he went above and beyond. Would I go again....... Yes and intend to make it a regular place to eat and drink.

Whilst travelling back towards Kent and wanting a dinner spied on the A303 a sign "Dove Inn" Followed directions and found this lovely pub. Extremely warm and friendly welcome followed by good beer and a lovely two meat carvery .Worth the trip off the main road to refresh a weary and hungry traveller. Well done and we would definitely stop here again.

Called in whilst staying in forest lodge to see if they would be showing the footy that night and what the taxi service was like round there, land lady told me footy would be on and taxi service was non existent but she or her husband would run us back to lodge, as they say "you can't argue with that" nice beer garden as well.

We had a great home made burger in The Dove and enjoyed a few hours playing pool and warming up before walking back to our holiday home. The landlady was really lovely, we felt well looked after and had a chilled out afternoon. It's worth knowing that it shuts at 3pm before opening again in the evening and the entrance is around the back... it looks shut from the front!
