We have been there several times with friends. Although we always reserved a table in advance and asked...we never got a table by the window. When we arrived and saw that there were many empty tables by the windows, we were not allowed to sit there either. While we were in the restaurant, no one came to take a seat. The food is highly objectionable. Critically substandard quality and quantity. A small piece of fish with a pile of rice and 2 slices of dry bread!??...what is this?? Long wait for food and I could go on and on. I'm sorry this place is a huge disappointment. ...

This venue was hyped and had won numerous awards for it's food, however our experience was not reflective of that. 2 of our party had to send back our food, which was well presented, as it was cold inside. Replacements arrived and these were hot and the food was very tasty, however first impressions count. The decor was starting to feel a little lived in, but again clean and tidy. The view from our table was fantastic. One dessert was also colder than expected however this was not sent back and our post member are most of it. Overall portions were of a good size and the food when presented correctly was tasty. Not sure we were as blown away as we were promised. No concession to a fragmented dining experience was not reflected in the billing.

Just outstanding! The Dirty Duck was recommended to us by our cab driver who picked us up from the airport, and it didn't disappoint. Everyone was really friendly, and everything - the welcome, the food, the drink, the view and the atmosphere were all fantastic. If we hadn't had a day's travel, and if we weren't a forkful away from a food coma, we'd have stayed until closing time! We'd been in Holywood for less than six hours, but The Dirty Duck had already got us saying that we'd like to come back again.

On 07/08//4, my brother & I went over to The Dirty Duck Alehouse, in Holywood for a meal. When we got there, the staff offered us a drink & showed us the menu & also told us what the meal of the day was. We had a look at the menu & then, ordered our meal. The staff are very helpful & friendly. The Dirty Duck Alehouse is on The Esplanade, just off The Bangor Road & has an excellent view over Belfast Lough & the mountains on the other side of Belfast Lough. It’s well worth a visit if, you’re thinking of having a meal on your own or with your friends etc. Prices are also very good & I would recommend it if you’re looking for a good restaurant in The Holywood area. Lovely spot overlooking Belfast Lough! Haven't tried the food yet (hence the 0 stars) but the menu looks great! Very friendly staff, great decor and a well sized mostly sheltered beer garden (with additional bar outside). If you're into rubber ducks, duck artwork and a cosy bar after a walk on the coast then The Dirty Duck Alehouse is perfect for you! Was recommended this place by a nice local gentleman I met while climbing cave hill. Visited at lunchtime ( in fact, I was the first customer though the door when they opened) Service was prompt and friendly. Decor and atmosphere very cool. Lovely location, viewing the loch. There is an outdoor seating area that is covered and has heaters, in which you can order food and drink. Inside on the ground floor is a bar with seating at it, along with various seating areas where you can also order food. Up stairs is the main restaurant, where you have gorgeous views of the loch. I've had a few dishes, and the food is top quality for a gastro/independent pub. Sea food is a speciality of the pub however there are other dishes. Service is quick and pleasant. The decor in the pub is wooden, with pictures of local legends, which makes it warm. There are regular live events weekly, which offers variety. Parking is limited as it is within a neighbourhood however Hollywood train station is less than 5 mins walk away.

Been dying to go to this restaurant and finally got the opportunity to go, what a disappointment!!! £65 for 2 adults and 1 child families do not go here what I can only say are their “regulars” don't appreciate kids in there. The chilli beef nachos were something that could have been made at home salsa and guacamole freezing and chilli was not a bit spicy and full of grease. The deli burger and the kids chicken goujons the skinny fries were undercooked and had to be sent back the burger, the bap was soggy and far too greasy. The desperate dan meal the sausages were burnt. Needless to say wont be back and what a waste of money!!!!! The serving staff were phenomenal so friendly and helpful but defo over worked and literally running around the restaurant

We [my sister & i and my two grandchildren] called in to grab a late lunch on Saturday 30th March as it was handiest to the train station that we used, However, we had a bit of a wait before we got seated in the beer garden, we were given the menu and we preceeded to order as you do 'to my shock horror I was so surprised how many people were there dining with their dogs !!!!!!! This was a bit of putting as obvious dog barking gets a little distracting !!! If that wasn't enough our food took such a long time to arrive after we ordered 25 minutes to be precise ! and even then there was another 10 minutes wait for 1 of our dishes to be on the table !! I've heard of busy but that was ridiculously unexceptable [Def won't be back !!! To add to the extreme disappointment of our dining experience here ,as we were effectively doing alfresco! the food didn't stay warm enough to fully enjoy ! And price range a bit on the high side for basic food and basic service!!! To finish this I think management should rethink their dog policy ,no disrespect to the owners but I think they perhaps need this notice (Dogs welcome .......people tolerated!!!!) straight outside their door!! in order to make an informed decision to eat downstairs @the Dirty Duck !! Kind regards Disappointed Customer 😞

For me, did not live up to that rave reviews however was still nice. The seats were pretty uncomfortable and it was quite cold inside. Toilets are up steep stairs also. I went to try out the world changing scone and was very disappointed to be given what to me was a cinnamon roll with butter on top?? Was totally confused….call me old fashioned but I like to cut open a scone and fill with jam and cream?? Maybe it’s just be! I will say though, the coffee was very good.

We both had coffee to finish- mine was baileys coffee, very good! Can’t wait to come again. Thank you :-)
