This place has undergone a mild facelift and has tables outside on the pavement. we did not book and although there were no available tables for the evening we could spend 40 minutes there just for a drink. Friendly and personable service with food now being served. It has been rejuvenated due to lockdown!

Mi amigo y yo estuvimos 4 noches. No pudieron hacer más por nosotros. Michael y su equipo fueron brillantes. La habitación estaba genial. No hay ninguna queja. Se proporciona té y café y bocadillos. La habitación estaba impecable. Sin duda nos alojaremos aquà de nuevo. De hecho, ya nos lo estamos perdiendo. Gracias a The Cuckoo.

A friendly welcome upon arrival with a nice clean room was a good start to our stay at the Cuckoo. Good location with a short taxi ride into the heart of London. Really good value for money and decent well stocked bar in the downstairs.

Fabulous little find! Giovanni was so hospitable and he makes the best Italian pizza! Not only that but also great cocktails. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable with lots of snacks and drinks - all complimentary. Only a short taxi ride to all the hustle and bustle of the centre of London. Quiet neighbourhood. Thanks Giovanni - was so good to meet you!

This is a little gem. The host and the welcoming was very nice and warm, and the small bar downstairs is really cozy, and offers outdoor seating if the weather permits. Room was nice, clean and had a lot of free things for use, like coffee, water, juice etc. And best of all, it was very quiet during the night. A very good place I'd love to come back to.

We booked this place for the locality to Islington Assembly Hall and it was a real gem of a place to stay. The manager was so friendly, the atmosphere was lovely, the bar was nice and the room was clean and comfortable. The little touches in the room were greatly appreciated and we'd definitely stay again. Fantastic value for London

I booked this hotel purely because it was a reasonable price and in the location we needed, but wow, I'm glad I booked in here! My partner and I stayed for two nights, the location was ideal for our plans in Islington, and the hotel and bar itself could not have been better! We were greeted upon check in by name (the personal touch makes a big difference in my opinion), and shown to our room, with everything we needed to know explained by Michael. The room was absolutely lovely, clean, well presented and very comfortable. After settling in we sat in the bar for a couple of drinks. The bar was well stocked, good choice of products all for a very reasonable price, and Michael was again very friendly and helpful. We did not meet any other team members but if they are all as friendly and helpful as Michael was this place is on to a winner! He made our stay memorable, he is a diamond and we are grateful to him for all his help!

We had a family gathering here on a Sunday, with around 40 guests. The venue was ideal as we had a christerning at the church on the same road. They did the catering for our party which everyone enjoyed with a selection of hot and cold food. And well worth the money we paid. The 2 gentlemen working there were very welcoming & friendly, the venue was clean and we definalty be returning at some point.

Brilliant pub and hotel, we come down here all the time and also had our wedding party here! The pub has a great drinks selection (lovely beers and ciders, Aperol Spritz and other cocktails and a really good wine list) and fantastic pizzas and, despite its central London location, is based down a quiet and peaceful back street. Michael and Gio and all the staff here are great, so friendly and helpful, and helped us to organise a great wedding party (ordering us a load of prosecco, helping out with organising the caterers and checking in our family to the hotel). There was no charge to hire and they even sorted out the delivery of our cake! Our family stayed in the hotel upstairs and the rooms are really, nice, spacious and recently refurbished (with fridge and coffee machine included) - no noise from outside or the pub either. Plus it's in a great location, very close to Angel and King's Cross/St Pancras (and as mentioned in a really peaceful back street despite being so central). Perfect place to come for a drink / pizza and great place to stay overnight (or hire for an event as we did)!

We booked all four rooms for the family to stay for our daughters wedding, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly during booking and our stay. The rooms were all clean , tidy and well equipped, lots of snacks. The location is excellent , very quiet but within a short walk of Upper Street, would definitely stay again.

Not quite a Gastro Pub, but certainly got the look. Nicely done up, but outside nothing like the pictures online. Lots of trendy craft beers for sale. Limited lager. My pint was awful and I ended up leaving some. Family thought I was unwell! Barman friendly enough. Though didn't rush himself to serve us. On my visit to the bar there were ants crawling all over the lower bar area where the lemon and limes were cut up. The barman just brushed them aside and didn't seem that bothered when I mentioned it. Thankfully no one in my party wanted a gin n tonic.... 😱

Awful..This is not a Gastro pub they only serve pizzas, I ate mine in the local park as the bar man / chef was so rude. The pub is managed by 2 Rude Blokes now not the lovely man in the photos !! It doesn't look like it does in these photos anymore, it is completely different. Customer Service Non-Existent. 1 Star given as No option to give 0 stars.

The whole experience was positive! Giovanni was so welcoming and polite, was nice to see a happy face on arrival :) Rooms were spotless and well decorated. I had the best night sleep I’ve had in ages! Would definitely come back if we return to Islington. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Friendly staff, 10% or 20% off drinks depending on time. Amazing cocktails! We stayed in the suite and it was lovely and spacious with big windows & comfortable bed. A complimentary basket of snacks was included along with a box of chocolates for our Wedding Anniversary. The room also includes a Tassimo machine. Very good value for money considering you would pay more for a room at the Travel Lodge. Great location. We went to see a Backyard Cinema show at the Union Chapel which was only a 10 minute walk away. We traveled from Waterloo and done the following route - Jubilee to Green Park then the Victoria Line to Highbury & Islington. Then overground to Caledonian & Barnsbury. We used contactless payment as it was easier & journey was only £2.40. Then about a 5 minute walk to hotel. The hotel does not include breakfast, however their is a Cafe called Sunday only a short walk but be warned people were queuing outside by 9.30am so we couldn’t go in. It must be good! Would definitely recommend!

Very nice pub with decent but not great food. The atmosphere and location make it a popular place, especially for Sunday roast. There are better places though if you like food. As many places these days, it seems understaffed for the amount of people to be served. The waiters did their best but simply couldn’t keep up with demand. Multiple bookings are obviously the norm in London but make the experience feel a bit hectic. Come here for a drink to experience the location.

Very friendly cafe, almost next to King's Cross Station. Went to stoke up before a long train journey and had a large full English, with much better quality bacon and sausage than usual in these kind of cafes, great coffee and excellent freshly squeezed orange juice. Total cost £11.45 - excellent!

We were so excited to go here, judging by the lovely photos on the professional looking website. Well, that's obviously were all the money was spent! This place is the opposite of the photos: brown, drab and musty. No atmosphere. They serve Japanese prosecco, which was disgusting. We left before finishing our drinks and went to one of the many other options in the area and had a great time - in the end. Really, don't bother.
