The Cruin restaurant loch lomond in Argyll & Bute

Place appeared to be closed up. Details on TripAdvisor wrong went mid week and it does not look like it's been open any time recently.

We went for my nieces wedding it was so beautiful would highly recommend for a wedding we stayed in the guest house it was spotless clean and slowly

Had roast beef dinners, which we were all looking forward to, but have to say we were left bitterly disappointed. The beef was like old shoe leather and really should have come with a saw, it was so tough (had to ask for steak knife) worst bit was that it was incredibly fatty, so much so that we left more than we ate ☹️ I hate wasting food but it was inedible. Take away puddings - I had the sticky toffee pudding which was very dry (possibly over microwaved) but ice cream was nice. Overall unimpressed and if staying at Lomond Castle again, wouldn’t eat there. Actually had a nicer roast dinner at Maid of the Loch in Balloch!!!

We recently had dinner here with family. It was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were superb, being both efficient and friendly. The selection of food was excellent and every item ordered was well cooked and well presented. The selection of wine was excellent. Everything about the evening was first class. We will certainly be back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lich Lomond.

We had a bad experience at the restaurant.It is maybe a good place for a wedding venue but not like a Restaurant.We ordered king prawns and 2 burgers and we had to pay for everything in ADVANCE.We don't know exactly what was wrong but we both got stomach issues after the lunch. We don't really recommend it.

Visited for our friend's wedding. Venue was stunning, set out beautifully and very clean. The weather was beautiful so we got to enjoy the gorgeous views, drinks were reasonably priced to. My husband was in a wheelchair after just having an operation and the staff were very helpful, particularly Jack who went above and beyond to help, he even made time to come and check on us several times throughout the day, fetching ice for his leg ect....very polite and easy to talk to making our experience enjoyable. The only downside was the gab between the service at 1pm and the meal at 5pm with no food in between, not sure if this is the normal layout for their weddings but maybe canapés or something would have gone down well (and soaked up the alcohol!). We then ate again around 9pm but to be honest wasn't that hungry from have the 3 course meal later on .

Great tiger prawns to start and chocolate brownie to finish. The goats cheese ravioli for mains was disappointing as the pasta wasn’t fresh. The restaurant had a beautiful view over Loch Lomond and good service.

Staying local so came here for a meal. Booked in advance and reserved a table in the window over looking the stunning views of Loch Lomond. Soup & chicken wings as starters were both delicious as was the fish & chips & burger mains. I was looking forward to dessert but was far too full & had to decline. Staff were friendly, polite, professional & efficient. All were wearing face masks. It felt very safe in the current covid times.

We dined here two nights ago on our last night in Loch Lomond. We had pre-booked given the situation with Covid and that there weren't a lot of other restaurants/hotels in the area we were staying to get to on foot. We were not disappointed. I have read other reviews which are negative and I can't understand them. The restaurant staff were very accommodating allowing us to come a couple of hours earlier to have a drink. We sat outside overlooking the Loch - amazing views, and then when it was getting a bit chilly we came in and sat in the lobby. The adherence to social distancing and health and safety was very good, they had a one way system and all of the staff wore masks when walking about and serving. It is a lovely venue. When we went into the main restaurant to eat, we were aware there were probably a lot less people in than usual due to the fact that they will be limited on numbers. That said, it was full, and there was a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food however was the crowning glory. The menu itself had the usual mains (fish and chips, burgers etc) but they had specials and we ordered two steaks, with a pepper sauce and black pudding. They were absolutely beautiful, cooked just right and so tasty. The starter prawns that we shared were so tasty as well. We felt it was reasonably priced for the venue and type of food we ordered and you could eat cheaper if you wanted something like a burger, however we were treating ourselves as it was our last night. I can't find any complaint and I can only say the staff were extremely helpful and I feel for them given what must be quite stressful times having to adhere to the Covid regulations and have less diners due to that. An earlier comment about no draft beer - again I don't think this is something that is a major fault and my partner (who loves his draft lager) was quite happy to have a larger bottle of one of those available. I cannot say anything negative about this place and I would definitely recommend dining here.

Fantastic location by Loch Lomond - breathtaking! Unfortunately this does not goes for the restaurant;1) waiter demonstrating very limited knowledge about the fish on the menu 2) food served before drinks!3) No draft beer offered....4) Overcooked fish and very very salty5) No vegetables...If you are out for a meal - I suggest you look elsewhere!

We were staying at the Loch Lomond guest house and lodges for one night and booked a table so we didn’t have to get in the car. Only time we could get in was 8pm so thought it must have been good. And we weren’t disappointed. Lots of information about social distancing and tables had been laid to to maximise this to.We were both very impressed with the food. Both of us had soups which were lovely, and I had the pan seared cod from specials menu which was beautifully cooked. Couldn’t really appreciate the view over the loch as it was so dark but can see it would be stunning.

The tables seem a little lost due to Covid restrictions and the very high ceilings, which did not help to create an atmosphere, so the evening was a bit bland. Service was good, plenty of staff to serve. Pub style food but it was very good, and everyone enjoyed their starters and mains.

It was a lovely Sunday evening, nothing bad to say about this place. Great tasting food, good portions, polite and welcoming waiters. Definitely go!

My husband and I visited here on the August bank holiday weekend and I have to say that this restaurant is a lovely, little gem. We found this restaurant by chance through searching for places to eat in the area on our weekend away and we were not disappointed. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the service was excellent. The food arrived promptly and tasted really nice! My partner and I both ordered the steak and ale pie with chips and broccoli off the specials menu and garlic buttered sourdough on the side which were both so nice! Then for dessert I got the chocolate orange cheesecake with ice cream and my partner got the chocolate brownie with cream which were both excellent. The covid 19 measures put in place in this restaurant were excellent and we felt completely safe the whole time we were there. All staff members had masks on and the tables and chairs were cleaned properly after each sitting. Each of the tables were also adequately spaced apart and there were arrows on the floor so visitors were directed to walk one way around the restaurant. Furthermore, upon arrival we were told to please wear masks if you can whilst moving around the restaurant so we felt 100% safe. The view from the restaurant is lovely and made the experience even better. Would definitely recommend!

Visited with my partner and our 2 teenage daughters on the last night of our holiday. Service was fantastic, waiting staff very attentive and helpful. Food was delicious and the setting stunning. We were blessed with a beautiful evening sunset over the Loch too. We sat outside to eat and admired the beautiful view. Fantastic last night.

Visited as it was near our accommodation and expected a little ‘more’Hadn’t booked but we’re seated in entrance/foyer. Table and chairs reminded me of a social club. Service was slow but staff were goodA pity it wasn’t a little more appealing as we would have probably visited again during our weeks stay as it was in a prime position near Loch and jetty

Great food really tasty, good value especially with the Eat our to help out discount, fabulous views of the Loch. The waiter accidentally spilt a drink on our table, then gave us complementary drinks, amazing!! Would definitely go again.

We were pleasantly surprised by our trip to The Cruin, where we were greeted at the door by staff wearing face masks. We were asked to wear a face covering when walking around the restaurant. There was hand sanitiser upon arrival and stationed outside the toilets. Bar staff were also in face masks and kept a comfortable distance from guests at all times. There was a one way system indicated on the floor which guided guests around the restaurant. Staff were highly attentive and could be seen cleaning down tables/ chairs as soon as a table left. We felt totally safe eating out here, as it was our first experience in a restaurant since the pandemic.The food was prepared in a quick manner and to a high standard. The fish and chips were tasty but the real highlight was the dessert (Orange and Chocolate Torte and Sticky Toffee Pudding). Would definitely recommend and will be coming back if we visit the area again!Thank you

We stop at this place on our way to Glasgow from Isle of Skye..It was a pleasant surprise as the food was delicious!! We had the mussels to share and after the fish pie and fish and chips to share..The atmosphere is wonderful, the view breathtaking and the staff lovely!

We attended a friend's wedding for the day (the second time we've been at a wedding at The Cruin) and once again, it was a fantastic day.The staff were friendly, the wedding meal was exceptional - bearing in mind they are catering on mass for 100 people - and the presentation and standard was very hight.The setting is fantastic for outdoor photographs overlooking Loch Lomond.I'd have no hesitation in recommending the venue to any prospective bride and grooms.

Visited after reading reviews and looking for somewhere close to our holiday venue, Cameron House on Loch Lomond. So glad we did. The food was delicious, every family member was very happy with all their courses. The service was excellent and the venue nice and very relaxing.

Wonderful food and service, this really is an excellent hidden gem with breathtaking views of the loch! The staff were extremely helpful and the quality of the food was to die for! My only constructive criticisms would be bread at the beginning of the meal would have been a nice touch, along with some family service style vegetables to accompany the Sunday lunch!

We were invited to a wedding of our friends' daughter some time ago on a keep this date free basis and when it came around it was such a wonderful occasion that it is worth mentioning the venue, the Cruin restaurant on Loch Lomondside. The venue is about a mile or so beyond the better known Duck Bay Marina and is part of an estate involving newly built wooden lodges and chalets. The restaurant can only take 100 guests for a function and our menus were decided prior to the day. The food is absolutely delicious, plenty of it and set in a well laid out function room, also we had nibbles and canopes all wonderfully cooked and prepared , served by a happy smiling staff where nothing is too much to help. Best wedding meal etc that I can remember and a lovely evening dancing to a live band. Excellent day all round .

Had lunch today in theCruin - really outstanding and unusual menu. Food delicious, charming waitress and that wonderful view of Ben lomond. Good value - thoroughly recommend it

The food is excellent . Everything we ate was delicious . The service was great . Location is very nice . The only downside is the place is literally abandoned- but that’s not their fault this time of the year .

We came to The Cruin for lunch one day, it's a little hidden gem with stunning views over Loch Lomond. I asked for vegan food and the chef gave me a number of options based on the fresh food he had in. It was delicious. My partner had the best meat burger he's ever had there. So we went back a few times for food and decided to get married there we liked it so much.

We had a lovely dinner here, overlooking the Loch and Ben Lomond, the service and food was impeccable. Whole heartedly recommended

Not many people seem to know the Cruin’s now open as a restaurant outside of weddings and events - I hope the word spreads soon though. The staff are amazing, the menu makes the most of fresh and local produce and the views are stunning. The food was really good but my salmon was a little over cooked. The scallops and black pudding starter were incredible! I really hope they’re still running outside of events when I go back next year.

What a lovely place to have a meal. Restaurant a bit spacious but what a view of Loch Lomond. Food was delicious, the meatball starter definitely worth trying, so tasty and enough to share between the two of us. I had the salmon and my husband the slow cooked beef, both meals excellent. Friendly attentive staff too. Best check website before booking as restaurant is often closed for private functions, but do go there if you can.

The restaurant has wonderful views overlooking Loch Lomond. I really enjoyed the Eight Hour Slow Cooked Beef and Roasted Chicken Supreme (the tomatoes were amazing!) Service was a little slow and beer options were lacking.

I would like to thank all the staff at the cruin except one. They made sure our friends had a great day well organised and brilliant food for there wedding day. All the staff could not do enough for us except one. Also the breakfast in the morning was very well presented and did not disappoint in taste. Lovely setting in a very nice building perfect for a wedding.

My son and new daughter-in-law had their wedding here on 3rd September. Can’t recommend The Cruin highly enough . The staff were exceptional through the planning and the day. The food was absolutely delicious and service first class. Wonderful day.

Sea bass starter ? I hear you say no it’s a Main well I can honestly say it would have done me if that was all I was having! Gorgeous! So quick to send out to me couldn’t believe it ! The waiters were all lovely and friendly so we’ll done to the owners for hiring them . Next came mums slow cooked beef , wow! Melted in the mouth and she’s still taking about it days after!!! I ordered a focaccia smoke salmon as I thought the starter wouldn’t be enough? WRONG! I was so embarrassed when out came the biggest helping of smoke salmon on a main course I’ve ever seen how could I manage this ? Well all I can say is this place is a hidden gem with superb food and great scenery I will be back again and again and again and again and again!! Thanks we loved it .

With my wife, daughter, her fiance and his parents we had a great taster evening at the Cruin. My daughter is hoping to hold her wedding there next year so a chance to taste some of the food couldn't be passed up.

The setting of and views from the Cruin are just beautiful, and the food and service didn't disappoint either. We very much enjoyed our lunch there (slow cooked beef and chicken supreme) and the service was excellent - knowledgeable and friendly. We'll definitely go there again next time we're in the area.

Why go to the Caribbean when there is such a beautiful venue in Scotland. The setting is brilliant and the spectacular scenery provides the perfect backdrop for photographs. As for the Cruin itself it has everything you could wish for - good bar, friendly and efficient staff and delicious food. The only mjinor is that the on site accommodation for guests who want to stay over is limited so book early. We stayed in a nearby lodge which was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was excellent

Stopped on our way to Oban because we were looking for a place to eat with views of Loch Lomond.

We got married here on the 10th May 2019 and it was just everything we could have asked for. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was incredible, and the venue is so beautiful, with plenty of areas for guests to socialise and lots of excellent photo spots. I did find the Guestplan wedding planner website a little confusing at first, but I always got prompt responses to any email queries I sent (of which there were many!) and it was a great tool when I got to grips with it. The atmosphere of The Cruin is warm and inviting and I can't recommend it highly enough as a wedding venue.

The food for this style of hotel was not what I would call in line with the premises. The Menu is rather bland with portions to match, the staff although courteous we’re inattentive. Needs updating and upgrading.

We got married at The Cruin back in November and it was the best day of our lives. The Cruin staff were amazing in the lead-up to our big day, working with us to make sure that everything was perfect and they were incredible on the day itself. Everything from the running of the day to the food at the meal was spot on. Breakfast the next morning was fab too.

WE had an amaziing friend and family event here at The Cruin and it was wonderful. The attention to detail and the food were both superb as was the service. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for absolutely anything you can fit into it! A great experience all round!

Fantastic service, good food, nice atmosphere, gorgeous view (though we went around the blue hour). The only (temporary) down side would be the faint smell of the paint as the main door area is going through refurbishment. But the service is really great! Totally worth going.

The Cruin is normally associated with weddings and functions, but is now opening on other days for lunch and dinner.

We were guests at a family wedding and the day was fabulous. But I'm gluten free and the food provision for gluten free guests was shockingly inadequate.

My partner and I had a catch up meal with my sister and her husband. As soon a we arrived we felt most welcome by the waiting staff who were very professional and had great manner and chat with good banter.

Got married at the cruin on Thursday and couldn’t be happier with the service and venue! All the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us! The day went so smoothly and was completely what we wanted. Would highly recommend for a wedding venue, also the meal and buffet where also amazing!! Fantastic place!

As a wedding photographer with The Image Village, I've been capturing weddings here for a long time and I can honestly say it has it all.

We attended a family wedding here....It seemed like every guest in attendance felt it was the most wonderful wedding they had ever attended. The food was excellent, including appetizers, fresh salmon, beef tenderloin, haggis etc., and it was all done to perfection, as was every detail of the wedding.

If you are looking for the perfect location look no further. The backdrop is awesome, so much so some of our guests want to get divorced so they can come back and get married.

We booked our wedding at the Cruin two and a half years ago, mainly for the beautiful setting. But as planning began it became clear that the real asset to the Cruin are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. David and his team did an incredible job for us - I had lots of personal touches and DIY and they set it all up, meaning I could enjoy the morning of my wedding. Every member of staff was so friendly and accommodating - commented on so many times by our guests. The food was amazing and the whole day went without a hitch- perfectly to time but not rushed.

This was the second wedding I had attended at the Cruin and have to say it is a fantastic venue. We were there as guests and from the moment we arrived the service was fantastic. I expect they offer different packages for weddings so what we had might differ from others. However the food they provided was delicious, From the haggis and black pudding bon bons, the tlittle hors douvres and then the wedding meal itself, everything was excellent.

Always make a point of vusiting when possible. Food is always good with decent portions Views are fantastic Staff freindly Easy to see why its so busy with weddings

My wife and I had our wedding reception here on 4/8/18 and the staff were fantastic. They honestly couldn't have done more to accommodate our choices and requirements. From the start of the process to the big day itself nothing was too much to ask. A big thank you to the Cruin team.

Fabulous venue for a stunning wedding. Excellent food, first class service. Only problem was the hot glaring sun shining through the roof windows onto the guest tables,( 28° on that day) with no blinds/shades, which was very uncomfortable. That's my opinion as I was unlucky where my allocated place was, could have been worse, could have been raining which would have ruined the whole event

My daughter’s wedding was held at the Cruin on Saturday.. I can not fault it.. the most amazing wedding venue I’ve ever encountered.. setting is just exquisite. David and all the staff could not be more professional, efficient or accommodating. The food is fabulous. Perfect in every way. A truly beautiful day.. thank you all of you xx

Perfect venue and amazing staff meant our most special day was perfect. The staff have been brilliant through out the whole process and nothing was ever to much trouble. Big thankyou to Michael on the day who ran the show with experience and professionalism. Tge food and service was impeccable and we can't wait to pop by next time we're passing! Cannot not recommend this venue enough. Wish we could do it again 10/10!!

Outstanding venue, wonderful location, the Loch and Ben Lomond in the background makes for a unique and unbeatable occasion. The staff under manager David were also tremendous and helped make for a special day. The food was sublime and relatives and friends are still glowing in their praise of the wedding venue. As father of the groom I can thoroughly recommend The Cruin for any family celebrations but especially weddings.

What a fabulous place to have a Wedding, it is private, secluded and with stunning views of the Loch. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were first class and worked tirelessly and faultless throughout the whole event making sure that everything and everyone had a truly wonderful time. The food was outstanding and delicious. The Crain is a beautiful place for a wedding. We were up there at the weekend and the scenery was stunning. The day was really good, food excellent, the whole venue and how it flowed was a credit. Excellent what more can I say

The Cruin was the first venue that my husband and I visited after we got engaged and we instantly fell in love with the place and booked our wedding for December 2017. The location was breathtaking and the venue was beautiful and intimate. From securing our wedding date, the organisation and communication between the staff and ourselves was impeccable.

We celebrated New Year at the Cruin,great night,food was bought to our tables during the evening,lots of choice & all very tasty,the staff were all very good & all very sociable,the Celtic music was excellent & we enjoyed learning the traditional dances,although my husband & I weren't really very good at all!! Bagpipes at midnight were a nice touch,very welldone to you all!!

We were evening guests at The Cruin a few years ago and although we hadn't seen it in daylight we loved the warm, relaxed atmosphere. So when it came time to choose a venue for our wedding (from Australia – with the added hassle that came with planning from overseas), it ticked all the boxes and we went with The Cruin. Well now that the wedding is over we couldn't be more pleased with our choice. The Cruin took care of everything in the lead up and especially on the day, leaving us to just relax and enjoy it. They did a lot of nice little touches like saving canapes for us and giving me a specially made meal since I have some dietary issues, even though I never asked for it. Nothing was too much trouble. We had been tempted to have a more DIY/barn type of wedding but didn't appreciate how much better it would make the day having a venue that runs everything for you. The area is so beautiful as well, our photos are amazing. Couldn't recommend The Cruin highly enough.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay at The Cruin! They arranged everything for my friends wedding and the lodge I stayed was lovely! I can't fault it in any way! The complete vegetarian menus was faultless! I will definitely return here again! The staff couldn't be more accommodating! Thank You!

After looking at a million different venues for our wedding we booked the Cruin immediately after our first meeting with them - they were so lovely and the first venue we met with that didn't make us feel like "just another wedding". We worked with Hannah and David over 12 months or so and they were so on top of everything - nothing was stressful and it meant that we could just look forward to celebrating with our friends and family!On the day itself, everything worked like clockwork and despite how much work must have gone on behind the scenes to make it all happen, it was seamless!Oh, and the food!!! Absolutely the best food I have ever been served at a wedding...people raved about it to us all night (and again afterwards!) Unreal!We can't thank them enough for making our wedding everything we wanted it to be!Erin and Andrew

I honestly don't know where to begin!! After nearly 2 years of planning we finally said I do and had the most amazing reception in the cruin. We were met by Hannah the wedding coordinator and from the moment we met her we instantly knew how amazing she was going to be. She helped us plan and organise our whole reception as we didn't even know where to start. She was so helpful throughout all our meetings. Nothing was ever too much. She took the stress off of the venue completely as I trusted her and her team 100%! It is just the perfect venue and Hannah and everyone else who works there are amazing!! Thank you!!

Attended for a wedding , lovely setting with great views and photo opportunitys, very picturesq, the venue itself is all timber cladded inside which is excellent as your in the middle ofva national park , food lovely , not a huge range of drinks but something for everyone , staff helpful and pleasant !

An absolutely superb hotel in an ideal location in Loch Lomond for a family wedding.The food was superb and the day was just perfect. From start to finish the staff were brilliant everything was 1st class. Could not fault one thing about this hotel. Will definitely return for food and drinks and maybe a wee stay in the lodges beautiful place.
