Buttermilk chicken burger was amazing lovely atmosphere helpful staff very clean good tunes good portions sizes and family friendly

Great family pub. Very welcoming friendly atmosphere, prompt service and good value delicious food. The menu has a good range of Tapas and more traditional options, the portions were generous and the staff very helpful and attentive.

Lovely place to eat. The tapas are certainly not small so good to share with someone. The buttermilk chicken burger was homemade and delicious, thoroughly recommended. Fridays are busy but we booked and had excellent service.

Rubbish. Sunday evening 7pm. Signs everywhere saying food served til 9. Landlady said kitchen just closed. (She then told 2 other guests that the kitchen closes at 5.30 on a Sunday). Did not feel welcome and won't be back....I recommend phoning ahead to check the food situation. How hard is it to show this accurately?

Awful!! Got turned away when only 5 minutes late and even website says serves until 5:45 which we were there at 5:40!! Not how to run a business. Please don’t go there!!

Lovely place! Great food. Stumbled across this lovely place as we stayed at a hotel the day before flying on holiday. Tapas plates are lush. Beer selection is awesome! Made flying from Stansted better!

We popped in here for a lunchtime bite to eat on Saturday. We had not planned going for lunch so just arrived with no booking. The staff were very helpful and found us a table. We were advised that they had just had a table of eleven in so obviously there may be a slight wait for food. This was not a problem but the waitress did her best and managed to sort our order first which was really good of her . We all had the Brisket Ciabatta which came with fries or sweet potato. This was delicious and a generous portion. It was only £11.95 which I thought was great value for money. The pub was clean and as I said all of the staff were helpful and friendly. We will be going back to try the evening restaurant menu .

The Crown Inn is a little village gem, just had the most amazing Sunday roast, plenty of vegetables and the cauliflower cheese it was the tastiest I have ever had. The chef who is also the landlord came out to talk to everyone to make sure everyone was happy. Very warm atmosphere and nicely decorated for Christmas. Will certainly be returning.

9 of us visited The Crown yesterday and ate a tasty selection of Tapas. The staff were attentive and friendly and we found the pub warm and welcoming. Will definitely be returning. New ownership has turned this village pub around.

Lunch with friends:- On arrival I was asked if I had a booking as they were busy at lunchtimes ( it was empty). The lady serving was not welcoming in the slightest - really offhand. The selection of food was basic (I asked for gluton free and the options were limited to a burger roll). Portion sizes were small but food tasted ok. One other group arrived to be told that Ploughmans was off the menu - at 1pm?? The pub previously offered a good gluton free selction. I was disappointed with the menu and attitude. I won't be returning.

We visited yesterday afternoon for some lunch. All of the staff were so helpful and welcoming and the food was absoloutely delicious. I would highly recommend The Crown. There is ample seating, a lovely outside area and a spacious car park. Really looking forward to coming back again soon.

The new owners have upped their game! This was never a favourite of mine but having had a less than perfect experience at another local pub in a village close by we thought we’d give it a try. The food was perfect and the Neck oil went down a treat too! I think this is now our new place of choice. You can’t beat being welcomed and made to feel that your patronage is appreciated, when nothing is to much trouble. The food was delicious. Well done to the management and staff! We will be back!

Popped in for a drink. What a hideous experience. The pub is freezing cold. I came in the back door from the car park and walked through a miserable dank uninviting area covered in a canopy with water dripping through the canvas. On entering the pub from this back door I was greeted by an awful smell coming from the toilets. The smell pervaded into the dining area of the pub where I ordered a drink and sat down in front of the fireplace where a log of wood was smoking which provided no warmth whatsoever. The person trying to light it was an employee ( I imagine) but was busy sipping his pint rather than concentrating on making the pub more comfortable for his patrons. The toilets which I had to visit are an embarrassment to any publican. Freezing. Dirty. I wouldn’t wash anything in the sink never mind my hands. They have the cheek to put a poster advising patrons to wash your hands which is a contradiction in terms given that the toilet is a hygiene risk in itself with no means to wash your hands hygienically. I have honestly never set foot in a pub as bad as this. They truly cannot care about their clientele to allow to sit in a cold, foul smelling pub and sell them food. One female member of staff decided to greet me, not by offering me a menu or speaking to me at the table but by asking me from 10 ft away “are you eating or just drinking’? No my dear. I was just leaving. Disgusting.

Each year we book somewhere to enjoy a Christmas meal a week or so before Christmas. After many years of trying several places, this is by far the stand out place. The pork belly slices we had for our starter were out of this world, not overly fatty, yet full of flavour and soo tender! The main meal was excellent too, they certainly don’t go lightly on portion sizes! The atmosphere inside was cozy and the restaurant is well separated from the bar. We certainly hope to visit again for our next Christmas meal, and probably again even sooner…

We live in the village & know that the Crown pub has been struggling so 17 of us decided to support our local pub for a Christmas meal. Lots of information was passed to the pub before we ate there. It was bitterly cold outside & although the heating was on - none of the log fires or wood burners were lit & there are no curtains or blinds at the windows. Our Christmas table had no crackers or Christmas serviettes - just a couple of miniature imitation Christmas trees. There was lipstick on some of the drink glasses. We waited a very long time for our meals - no one checked if we were OK. My main course when it came 2.5 hours after I arrived was quite tasty, the desert was overmicrowaved sticky toffee pudding - no one asked us how our meal was. No one asked us if we wanted coffee & when Irish coffee was mentioned- the bar staff said they didn't know how to make them. One of our party who works in another nearby pub offered to teach them after not eating her Xmas Dinner which they said was atrocious. I asked for the card machine to be brought to the table & was told it wasn't possible. Quite frankly the pub is failing on its service - to cap it all after we had left the pub with no thank you or happy Christmas- we were told that 1 of the party hadn't paid despite having to queue like school children at the bar whilst they ticked our names off. The manager had assured the person who had made the group booking that they would be there - guess what they weren't

I live locally and get a takeaway delivered from The Crown, Willetts Smoke House now and again. Never disappoints- best burgers I’ve tasted and The Boss is out of this world. Give it a try
