The Crown in North Somerset

Has a lovely meal on Saturday evening. All six of us ordered different and the meals arrived together. Dessers were nice, just wish they did some homemade puddings as they always taste better in my opinion. Fab meal and atmosphere though.

Fabulous really lovely the staff are warm a friendly the menu is great and the food is fantastic - we don’t go often but food is consistently lush. Well done !!!

Great evening at The Crown for a work Christmas party. There were around 50 in our group and the food was amazing - best Christmas party meal we’ve ever had. Menu gave a good selection and everything was excellent quality, delicious and beautifully presented. Our function room was quite a way from the kitchen but our meals were piping hot and served by many very friendly and obliging staff. A great meal - thank you very much The Crown!

Very disappointing visit. It was prebooked for a Christmas lunch. We got there to be told sit anywhere. A Christmas lunch from a Christmas menu. There was no table cloth, no crackers, nothing festive. A two course Christmas lunch was £27.95. The vegetables were two chunks of carrot and two roasted parsnip.Could you get any cheaper vegetables. I would have never gone if I knew it was going to be like this. So many other pubs really make it special and the price isn’t so expensive. The food was ok but that was it. I personally wouldn’t recommend this pub.

Last minute stop on way to airport having spotted the sign off the main road. Despite having 2 large tables of Christmas meals and a crowd of locals our food was brought out within 15mins, hot, well cooked and appetising. Waitress was efficient and polite, we will use this pub again

A lovely pub with friendly staff. My family and I frequently eat here and have never had reason to complain, quite the opposite.

At least twenty years since last visited so it has definitely changed! We all went for the roast with Turkey, Lamb and Beef on offer. Six of us so we all 2 of each. Meal comes up played up with the veg, very quickly served, piping hot and a huge portion. Great selection of veg, I had the lamb which was very tender and tasty. Great gravy completed the meal. Couldn’t fault it. Thoroughly recommend this place. The normal menu looks pretty damn good too. We will definitely go back.

We booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary for 7pm on a Saturday night. We arrived early at 6.30pm intending to have a drink before ordering. We were told where our table was. Around 6.45pm we asked for menus and chose what to have. At 7pm I ordered food at the bar. A few minutes later we were told that there was a 90 minute wait for food, due to a large party in the function room. Why couldn't they have told us about this when we arrived and asked us to order early. We finished and paid for our drinks and left. Evening totally spoilt for us.

Came to family fun day on sat it was brilliant.Kids were loving it....outside cooking, fabulous food ,brilliant friendly atmosphere ,and fantastic band ,Dani west and the southernaires...lo ved the day and night,still singing and dancing until late...fantastic event.....thankyou to all at The Crown.

Had a few hours over before our flight from BRS and decided to go for a lunch here, it was Sunday and very busy so we were told it was full, but they still were kind enough to give the 4 of us a table and the braised lamb was delicious! Great service friendly and very cosy place.

We were camping nearby and we’re looking for a pub suitable for Sunday lunch for just me and my son. We ordered a small adult and child roast dinner, to say the portion size is generous is an understatement. The food was delicious and exceptionally good value considering the size. Seemed popular for a remote pub, they could only seat us at a small table for two inside so we opted for the garden which is lovely

A very good roast dinner. Plenty of food with a great variety of vegetables and a yorkshire pudding. Perhaps serving the vegetables separately would give more room on the plate!. Friendly staff and quick service but were able to sit and chat afterwards and not feel rushed in anyway.

A long standing favourite since it first re opened. Fantastic range of homecooked food at very reasonable prices, always a nice choice of specials and fish menu. Really nice friendly atmosphere and a lovely garden that has a bouncy castle for the kids so they can play while you enjoy a drink - perfect!! Our favourite spot with the kids for a nice bit of tea!

Stopped here for dinner last minute booking lovely friendly staff, large food menu and plenty to choose from in drinks , pub is dog friendly in bar and in beer garden with has plenty of seating .

Nice pub, has a lot going for it, but needs a lighter real ale option. Tribute and Butcombe are too same-y (and too dark and bland for my tastes). Didn't try it, but the food looked very good.

Paid a visit on Friday, 19/4/2024. Great choice of beer , largers . The food was very good . I had pork belly in a honey sauce with potatoes and veg . This was one of the nicest meals I had had .The pork was just right, and the veg melted in your mouth. Will definitely call again . Found eating next to the bar area a bit noisy .Will try and book the lounge next time . Thanks

best pub out there by far, the lane family have completely transformed this dreary old locals pub to the jewel in the crown 👑 where everyone is welcome, the food is fantastic especially the Sunday roast 😀. the bar staff work hard as do all the other staff as well ,great garden at the back for the kids to play once this weather breaks, massive carpark opposite. party room upstairs absolutely 💯 🤪 🙌 fantastic keep up the good work and we'll worth a visit if your that way

We were recommended to try the Sunday lunch here and I am so glad we did! Although the pub is up a country lane it is worth the effort. Staff very friendly and helpful. I asked if the beef was very rare as I don’t like it like that and was told that I could ask for it to be cooked as I liked. We ordered 2 roast beef and 1 and 1/2 pints of Thatchers and our bill was £38 which is very reasonable. We had a lovely table by a roaring fire. A lovely ambience. Our meals came out very quickly. On my plate was 2 slices of melt in the mouth beef, done to perfection. A home-made Yorkshire pudding, carrot, parsnip, peas, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, leeks in cheese sauce, cabbage and swede mash. Topped off with lovely gravy. A very good portion! Would recommend and I can’t wait to go back.

Been recommended a visit and certainly didn’t disappoint. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. And drinks varied and reasonable. Will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Checking this out for a group visit later in the year. Had Salmon and a curry with drinks for less than £40. Staff very friendly and polite, interaction very good. Lovely open roaring fire. Perfect pub atmosphere for a snowy night. Will definitely be back.

Only went for drinks whilst out walking but warm welcome as usual.

A lovely find and great food,but unfortunately a pub that allows vaping indoors,so whilst your eating and drinking you will have to put up with clouds of stinky vape smoke in the bars,quite a few people doing this,so it seems the norm,so we won't be going back,you can take your chances..

Beautiful food, great service and lovely atmosphere

Landed from Berlin and within an hour we were tucking into ham, egg and chips (£13) and fish pie at the Crown. Exceedingly friendly, can do manner from the bar staff and thd food was plentiful and tasty. My only comment would be that the plate for the ham, egg and chips was cold. Overall, there was a very nice atmosphere and a pub I would return to.

Made to feel very very welcome by a super team at the Crown. We were camping at Mendip View and walked to the Crown (30 mins). Super food, good value, well looked after beer (perhaps one more local kraft beer would be a welcome addition) - thanks Team Crown 😊

Huge portions tasty food great atmosphere

Re-opened a few months ago after a spell of closure, this had something of a refurbishment and has unfortunately lost some of it’s traditional character in the process. There used to be lovely black beams on the ceiling, but these have all been painted a dull grey colour, as has the rest of the ceiling and some further black timberwork that was inset in to the walls has been covered over with wood cladding. The lovely flagstone floor and a brick chimney breast remain, but these now look slightly out of place against the more contemporary style of the other décor. The menu offered a decent enough selection of pub grub dishes, along with a small specials board containing mostly fish options. I opted for a lasagne and this turned up piping hot with garlic bread and a small side salad. The garlic bread was unusual in that it was quite literally triangular pieces of sliced bread rather than the more usual baguette, but it was tasty enough. The lasagne too was pretty good, very tasty although it could perhaps have done with more filling. Across the table, the beef and ale pie with mashed potato and an enormous pile of peas was a little less successful, on lifting up the puff pastry lid pretty much all that was in the dish was a pool of gravy, with just a couple of small chunks of meat. We’re not normally ones to complain, but this was just ridiculous. The friendly barmaid agreed with us and returned it to the kitchen, before coming back out saying that they were doing another one, and regaled us with some guff about how the meat had broken down in to flakes and so wasn’t visible. Oddly the waitress who brought out the replacement, which was the same one who had brought the original and hadn’t served anyone else in the meantime and so couldn’t fail to remember us, didn’t mention anything, there was no apology, she just said “Beef and ale Pie? Enjoy!” as though it was the first time she had brought it out. This time it had a little more meat in it, but it was still pretty stingy. Overall with the refurbishment having rather spoilt the décor and the lack of any beef in the beef and ale pie, it’s not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to.

Ordered the ploughman's with chips as a side. Ploughman's was served on a wooden platter and was excellent, so were the 'skin on chips'! Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

This a total gem of a pub! Popped in here yesterday halfway through a walk. We both the steak and ale pie. Omg the beef was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. The plate was full to the brim. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming. If back here again definitely be coming to try the Sunday roast 😋

What a gem of a pub!! We have been there twice in a month, first for 50th Wedding Anniversary drinks in the garden, having 6 children age 4 - 10 what an amazing surprise to find a bouncy castle in their safe contained garden and second for a family wake, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly. There is a beautiful private function room that you can hire and the doors lead straight out onto the garden. Can't wait to go back for their roast.

We had the Sunday roast absolutely delicious 😋 it was hot and lots of it!!!👍.. reasonably priced also. Lovely pudding also. I would definitely be coming back for a midweek tea! Highly recommend coming here, it is off the beaten track you wouldn’t know it was there! So look for the small sign😉

We were looking for somewhere to eat after picking up our Son and his fiancée from the airport. We found The Crown on Google maps. What a gem, a great welcome, all staff were brilliant and the food was out of this world, great portion size, delicious and very well priced.

Very good knowledge of gluten and dairy free menu items. Good pleasant service, and we left feeling full!

I like the look of this pub and the staff were all smiley and pleasant. However, one of the beers on tap tasted funny and had to be replaced by a different brand and the Rogan Josh on the menu was entirely unpleasant tasting. It simply tasted of strong chilli and cinnamon, nothing like a Rogan Josh should. The other meals we had were OK, but nothing special. I doubt we'll be back when we're in the area.

A great find! Lovely pub garden, friendly staff and a generous Sunday roast, which I've had 3 times now. Much better than other pub roasts in the area, lots of extras included and keenly priced. I've not yet had the dessert but am very tempted by the gin & tonic cheesecake. I'm surprised this gem of a pub hasn't yet been discovered by the crowds.

We stumbled upon this lovely hidden gem by chance - what a lovely surprise! The food was wonderful, and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The back garden has a magical feel. Make sure you try banana creme brule!

Lovely little pub nestled away by the village of Regil. We recently moved to the area and thought that now things were open again we would pop in and check out The Crown. We were pleasantly surprised with the charming pub garden and equally charming couple who run it! They were very attentive and had even provided blankets since people have to sit outside due to covid restrictions. Their two dogs were also hilarious and very entertaining! We will definitely be returning. Can't comment on the food since they didnt have any on the evening we visited. Most definitely worth a visit 😊

Visited by chance last night .Was staying in local hotel and decided to venture out. Found The Crown and was very glad I did. I had the Cod and chips and it was excellent ,possibly the best fried fish I have ever had .Great pint of lager also. Very friendly and attentive staff and immaculately clean with perfect sanitation measures in place. 10/10

Lovely quaint little pub which was very accommodating to my friends and I!

I often have "fish amd chips" when I am out, as it is a difficult meal to cook well at home..... Possibly the best Fish and Chips I have ever had.... The pub is nice too.

I ate at this place completely randomly as I was meeting my mum for dinner and just picked a place on the map which was half way between us. But what a good choice it was. Lovely cosy little pub with friendly bar staff and really nice home cooked meals. With the "Eat Out to Help Out" discount I paid £14 for two MASSIVE cod and chips plus a pint and soft drink. Even without the discount it would still be excellent value. Just be warned that they are properly out in the countryside and you might want to plan your route in carefully as my Sat Nav took me down some proper narrow lanes!
