such wonderful experience, i dont know who was the barman, served me but believe me the best person i have ever seen in a restaurant as waiter. Everything was great, live music with joanna cooke whose voice came from heaven.food was good and atmosphere was so friendly and unique. thanks for memory you have made for me.

First visiting since the refurb and it was absolutely brilliant. Very warm and friendly welcome, perfect service and food.

Revisited the Cross Keys Inn in September 2024. A very disappointing experience. All of our meals (we, a party of 4) were under or over cooked, and it appeared we were not alone in having issues; we heard others complaining not just about the food, but the service. A real shame. It seems they have a problem with their current chef and are shredding their reputation and bottom line. Having someone in the kitchen who can't cook a burger patty, and who overcooks scallops? This should never reach the table. The current trajectory puts the pub in serious trouble, especially given competition in the area.

I went to this restaurant and wasn’t very impressed by the staff because they weren’t very nice and friendly. The fishpie was cold and warm at the same time. The steak was ordered medium but it was very Rare.

Truly terrible. Avoid for food. Although it’s a nice place for a drink near to the beach. The service and food quality is dire. We sat at 7pm and didn’t get our food until 8:45pm. 3 tables also chased their food due to severe kitchen delays (it wasn’t super busy so I’m not sure what happened). Food: When the food did come; the chips were cold and it’d clearly been sat on the pass for too long. I spotted another table also sending their food back. A third table I overheard order the starter mussels and also a main course as mussels for someone else. When they came, it was exactly the same portion size and it’s safe to say they weren’t impressed with having to pay more. Food quality was average at best and disappointing overall. Service: This was EXCEPTIONALLY poor. Some urgent retraining is needed for the staff here. I would assume that they’re new? We sat and got a drink / ordered, but this was the only time someone asked if we wanted a drink. We were in the restaurant for over an hour with empty glasses. There was a lot of standing around and chatting, and from 7pm to 9pm when we left, not a single glass was returned to the bar from any table. A table near to us left as we sat down nearby, their glasses were still there when we left and the table hadn’t been cleaned. One table had their main course without their starter plates cleared away, and the staff still didn’t take them as they put the mains down! No-one came to table check the meals after the meals were down, despite the noted issues. The staff seemed incredibly disinterested in their customers, not once did anyone apologise for the delays, and drinks / food orders were incredibly delayed. I assume there’s been some staff changes, as there was a poster in the window advertising for “various” kitchen positions. I’d advised strongly avoiding until this has been resolved, exceptionally poor service and food tonight, and I know the whole restaurant felt the same, not a one off.

First bartender was very grumpy and said there wasn't takeaway yet despite the sign saying there was but second bartender gave us takeaway once we asked to eat in??

Tried Monkfish scampi here as seems to be the normal way of preparing scampi compared to with langoustine everywhere up north. Have to say was not disappointed. Even my 8yr old who has become a scampi connoisseur was impressed at the flavour difference. All the food we had was homemade and excellent portions. Well worth the visit here and the area is beautiful.

I had the best scallops of my life! We went here for lunch on a beautiful day and sat outside. Beth, our server was so sweet and we spoke with Matt, the owner and Maz, the manager. They were so kind and informative! We really had a terrific experience!

So good we had to come back!!! Fish and chips and Fishcakes were absolutely incredible!!!!! So we had to try the roast diner…. And we both agreed it’s the best we have ever had out!!! Absolutely perfect all round!! Amazing service from Harry and the young lady working too! Best place we experienced today on our holiday!

Excellent food in a wonderfully designed pub/restaurant. Mains perhaps a tiny pricier than some of its peers but worth it. Excellent service.

My wife and I ate here last night. Service was excellent attentive and polite. Food was amazing. My wife chose fish pie with fresh veg, I opted for the octopus with chorizo, both meals were fantastic and I thoroughly recommend you try this gem of a pub in Cawsand. Would suggest that you book if planning to dine on a weekend.

Had an excellent meal along with a wide choice of ales and ciders. Will make this a regular stop.

Shared the ‘Cote du Boeuf’ with my wife and it was stunning. Without exaggeration it was one of the best steak meals I have ever had. 10/10. Great service too.

This little gem is nestled in one of the most picturesque places in Cornwall. Everything is superb from the beautiful interiors, nice and friendly staff serving a good selection of drinks at the bar, and the food has constantly impressed on many visits. Try the bang bang cauliflower as an appetizer before your main meal, you won’t be disappointed. A great diversity of food also allows for vegetarians to never feel left out.

Wonderful fish, chips and cider. Staff very approachable and knowledgeable about the area. Spotless throughout. Card only but not a problem. We will definitely be back!

Cosy bar with open fire serving good bar food. Also good accomodation - pleasant, comfortable rooms, reasonably priced and friendly, cheerful staff. What's not to like!

We went here for some drinks on new year's. The staff were amazing, it was a busy night but the staff were on top of everything. We did not eat a meal but did have some chips which are the best chips in the South West. The food from the restaurant did smell spectacular and was very busy so clearly a popular place to eat

We came here for a drink yesterday and the staff were so friendly I was keen to come back for a meal today. I had Bubble and Squeek with Smoked Haddock Rarebit and Mrs D had a Ham Sandwich, both of which were excellent. The only negative comment is that we chose the child’s pasta with cheese for our 2-year old grandson. This was brought out 5 minutes after all the adult meals and, when it arrived, was linguini. Anyone taking a child out for a meal knows that a) the child really needs to be served first and, b) giving a child linguini with a knife and fork is just setting up for failure. Having said that, the child’s meal was very tasty and a very generous portion.

I've eaten there twice recently & on both occasions the staff & the food were excellent.

Popped in with friends, dog friendly, the young girl serving was friendly and really good at remembering the fussy ones drink. Definitely one to return too.

We ate here twice during a recent trip to Cawsand. On both occasions the food was delicious, the service brilliant and the pub was just so cosy and lovely. Absolutely recommend.

More upmarket venue in the town, food was quite posh and very tasty. Made room for us even though they had a booking for a wedding party. Recommend

Incredibly friendly young staff. A table for one was found despite not having a reservation, and the sunday roast that followed was the best I can remember. It is a lovely light room and I can't wait to come here again.

Very good food at the recently refurbished Cross Keys. We had the Sea Bass and Fish & Chips, both excellent. We came early evening and it was busy in the bar and dining room.

Really delicious lunch today! I had fish and chips and my husband had the burger! Both really good, tasted wonderful and was presented beautifully! The fish was excellent and batter light and crispy! The sides of mushy peas, curry sauce and tartare sauce were all very good too! The pub had recently been refurbished and it looks absolutely great! Lovely decor and colour scheme, comfortable seating and spotlessly clean! My only tiny disappointment was the coffee! Made in machine but only half a cup full with no frothy milk! I suggest smaller cups or a separate milk frother! The staff were friendly and professional! Can highly recommend!

Excellent food. The seafood pie was great. The next evening, a completely different food style, I tried the pork belly ramen and this was also really good. Generally, I find food in pubs in UK (I'm from Australia) pretty ordinary at best, but this was a cut above. Friendly service too

Can't comment on the food as only had drinks. Decent beer but we had to chase to get the coffee we ordered which was not great but forgivable. However, what I didn't appreciate was that, despite sitting on a table that wasn't reserved, we were told to leave after our first drink because they wanted to give the table to someone else. There was no consideration as to whether we wanted another drink or maybe even stay for some food. I didn't appreciate this and felt this was poor service and atmosphere.

After some underwhelming meals at some other local pubs, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Cross Keys. Would definitely recommend eating here!

Great atmosphere, fine array of characterful (friendly) dogs and fine selection of beers, also a great location.

Went in Saturday evening for the first time ever , not realising it had just reopened after a refit with new owners . Good menu choice and we both had a rib-eye steak . Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection and we were too full for dessert . Fortunately we weren’t too full to stay til closing time drinking cider and wine . Will definitely return to try something else

Unfortunately it was a suddenly expensive place, and unfortunately when I asked for a receipt I was not given one "the machine doesn't work like that" Overall a nice place but may not go again..

Visited after a short walk to Rame Head, two packets of crisps and two pints = £9.40 The food looked typical for the venue which in turn caters to visitors.

Ordered beer, but were scared away by the owner because he didn’t want us to sell any food and we ate some food of ourselves outdoors. Terrible service.

We have ordered only two soups, first get the wrong order, and then waited for another hour to get what we wanted. So, two artificial soups, £10, an hour and a half.

Terrible service. Host was rude and might as well have been drunk...

Sat outside and the service was quick and the food tasted great. If you want a snack or lunch then I recommend the nachos. Very reasonably priced. Perfect if you've got the ferry over from Plymouth

Set in the square it's a nice place to while away some time people watching. We only had a beer but it seems popular for food.

Do not recommend food was not nice in cardboard boxes chicken was over cooked hard to cut, tried listening to live music kept being told don't stand there don't sit here so couldn't enjoy the music felt unwelcomed what's the point of having a live group when you can't actually see them

Great staff and nice to sit in the square outside unfortunately they were short staffed and not doing food,which was disappointing, especially as it was only 6.30 in the evening

Booked a table in the window in the actual pub part of the pub (more atmosphere and on our own away from others). Arrived tonight to be told the lady had forgot, so we were shown to a table in a basic dining room where we would've been sat with chairs touching back-to-back with other diners. I know the law is now no masks, but every other pub seems to ask people to wear masks until seated and bar staff wear them. This pub had nothing. Disappointing as drove quite a long way for a meal and ended up not eating there.

The delightful twin village of Cawsand and Kingsand has long been an ideal family holiday destination with it's quaint narrow streets, old architecture, little coves, local attractions and much more besides. And at the heart of Cawsand in the village Square is the Cross Keys Inn, my personal favourite place to eat and drink locally. It's an old established character Inn just one minute off the beach and the landing point for the Cawsand to Plymouth Barbican (foot) ferry service. The pub management has taken on board the stringent government rules and regulations during the long coronavirus period and adapted to the ever changing criteria. The seating arrangements, simple instructions, relevant signage and staff guidance have all helped create a safe and hygienic environment for all. It's a shame some other establishments I visited locally didn't follow suit and blatantly flaunted the coronavirus rules !!! The Keys has a fine selection of beers ales lagers and spirits which cater for most tastes. The restaurant food menu is a simplified version of the original ( introduced to adapt to strict social distancing requirements / staff levels etc throughout the various stages of covid period). It still maintains a commendable choice whether opting for a table meal or takeaway. A selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian choices and also children's portions available ( freshly cooked using local produce where possible). The tables are cleaned quickly after use and table service is available both indoors and outside if using the pub's dedicated seating in the Square. Well behaved dogs are allowed and water bowls a courteous offering outside for any thirsty canines. The legendary live Sunday afternoon music sessions are back (4.30pm), so join the locals in singing badly out of tune and chilling to some talented local artists ! Geoff Isobel and their fantastic team of attentive friendly and efficient staff contribute greatly to making the Cross Keys a great place to visit. Thanks all !!!

Very friendly service and welcoming staff. A beautiful pub with lots of character. Our children were made very welcome too. A small menu currently (understandably) and portions are a little in the small side.

Loved it! The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the pricing was just right. Lovely atmosphere, really enjoyed our meal here and will be back.

Good pub. A short row and walk if you're visiting cawsands by boat. Wanted a simple pint and chips, £13 for two pints and two portions of chips! Bangin. Decent portion too, none of these tiny cups of chips for £8 you get. Staff pretty friendly, despite dealing with covid regs and people. Dunno how they do it. There was lovely doggos in there too. Good simple pub. Would recommend

Visited on a bank holiday, wasn't very busy but very slow service.no atmosphere at all. Food was very bland. It was a shame,as the staff were very nice. wont be going back .

Lovely place for a drink and lunch on a very hot day. Great service too. Covid guidelines made explicit which made the ignorant behaviour of an opinionated bimbo look even more foolish (she rudely and loudly refused to wear a mask because of an alleged heart op ..... surely this is even more of a reason to wear one if you have half a brain). Nonetheless dealt with professionally by the landlord and staff. Definitely worth a visit!

A friendly stunning pub in an ideal location not far from the beach. Food was really good quality and didn't take long after ordering. Sat outside in the sun drinking cider and chatting to locals. Barstaff Liz' & Lewis' kept busy rushing around keeping everyone happy bringing out drinks and food. Will visit again hopefully in the summer...
