It was my first visit to The Crosby Inn today. We had Sunday lunch and I can totally recommend the Pub. The food was delicious, the service was prompt, professional and friendly. It is a beautiful Pub in a lovely village. We will certainly be returning.

Lovely country pub/restaurant with lovely hosts/owners. Had a lovely Sunday lunch for Fathers Day. Quick to take the order and didn’t have to wait long for our meal. Quality food, roast beef lovely homemade Yorkshire puddings. Very attentive waiting staff. I couldn’t manage a dessert but my husband enjoyed his sherry trifle. Excellent value for money and will definitely be back 😊

Nice little pub in a nice village. Staff very friendly. Food and service absolutely terrible. It took them over one hour to serve this joke of a meal. I ordered the chicken curry which is graded as medium or hot. When asked how hot I wanted it I said, “ very very hot, as hot as you can make it” It was plonked down in front of me and my immediate thought was that it looked like dog food. No effort had been made at presentation, no coriander etc. As for the flavour, I’ve had spicier crisps. It had zero flavour and hardly any spice whatsoever. All I could taste was cayenne pepper and there wasn’t much of that. I’ve honestly had better microwave curries from Lidl. HONESTLY I REALLY HAVE. As for the portion well it would be great for people on a diet. £15 they charge for this! Absolutely disgraceful. So if you are ever driving through Thornton Le Beans my strong advice would be that you keep on driving. This place is awful!

Used to go to The Crosby alot as it was my now ex husband’s favourite. So after a good few years and a divorce returned tonight. Pleased that the staff are still very welcoming. The food was honest and lovely. Price reasonable and service good. Only disappointment was no zesty lemon cheesecake i used to have every time. Was too full for desert anyway !! . Will be back.

Warm welcome from the staff. We were seated in the cosy & historic part of the pub. There is a further modern dining room. A good choice of home cooked food. We enjoyed carvery of the day (roast pork) and steak pie, both served with a good selection of seasonal vegetables. The meat in both dishes was excellent. Portions were large so we had to decline the tempting dessert options and opt for a good cup of coffee.

Visited here whilst on holiday in the area. Oh my goodness! The steak and ale pie was the best I can remember for a long time. Fresh veg. And the chips! So good. Let's have a light dessert I said. I'll have the trifle! Well look at the photo, it wasn't small! But very yummy! Friendly staff. Overall what you would want from a traditional good pub. Thank you! Hope to be back!

Amazing fish pie made freshly that morning - not made then frozen - the pie was accompanied with a good portion of fresh veg - just right - not mushy or tasteless. Hubby had steak pie, chips and veg - shortcrust pastry just as he likes it - he really enjoyed it. Came out knowing we were full for a change not wanting more with no room for a desert.

We have been to this lovely village inn on a number of occasions and it has always been consistently excellent, be it the food or the friendly and welcoming staff. Their delicious Sunday Lunches are very good. Our latest visit was for an evening meal and we had mixed grills that were beautifully cooked and well presented. The steaks were done perfectly. Fabulous chips too. Highly recommended and this is our one to go back to dining venue. Please note the mixed grills for two people are not on the printed menu, you have to pre order and they do a traditional and a pork mixed grill.

My family had Sunday lunch here recently. The food was tasty. I had roast pork which was a good portion and the meat tender. Service was a little slack. We weren’t asked if we’d like extra drinks, I had to flag one of the young waiters down. We weren’t asked if we would like any sauces with the meals such as horseradish for the beef or mustard etc. Our empty plates weren’t cleared in a timely manner. Overall the food was good, just let down by inattentive service.

We've been to the Crosby for a Christmas get together for the last 5 years. Sadly we missed last year but this year it was on. 5 of us went - 2 had starters - garlic mushrooms - delicious. We all had turkey - it came with a big homemade yorkie pud, a stuffing ball, roast potatoes and parsnips. We also got a huge bowl of mash, sprouts, carrots and cabbage. We asked for more gravy and this was brought promptly and was thick and lovely. The desserts for all followed by coffee. With 2 soft drinks each this came to under £30.00 each. Great service as always. I would recommend the Crosby 100% for a fantastic meal. Roll on next Christmas.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for over a year, but have been too lazy to put font to computer. However, I have visited this rural gem a number of times over the past year and now offer my personal review with real experience under my belt.Just south of Northallerton nettles a small posh village of Thornton Le Bean with its own warm and welcoming pub,The Crosby. The landlord and landlady are warm, friendly and professional. The young servers, always well turned out, are friendly and helpful and always appear genuinely keen to accommodate customers needs. The food has always been well cooked and well presented, a big pat on the back for the chef and his/her kitchen staff. The menu is value for money and offers a varied menu offering the regular or casual customer a choice of well prepared dishes to suit most palates and pockets. The Sunday roast is a favourite of mine, the helping of meat is more than sufficient for most appetites supported with freshly cooked vegetables and lovely gravy. This great rural gem could not consistently fulfil and exceed customer expectations without being a happy little ship captained by two captains of their profession. A big well done to the whole team at The Crosby.TIP: Always leave a tip for the servers, I do.

We have been here many times and enjoyed it so it is with regret i have to say this was not a good meal. The staff were in-experienced in service of food. We were greeted with are you ready guys to order? Guys we are both pensioners certainly most inappropriate for the venue. I had to ask for mint sauce to accompany my lamb. It was cold and the Yorkshire Pudding was like leathef. The veg were very sparse and not good. We decided on a coffee after as we did not want a sweet. Then she came out with a classic No we asked what was the special coffee? She didn't know Then asked if we wanted the cheaper coffee? CHEAP HOW DARE YOU? We had a caffitiere of coffee which tasted of sweepings up off the floor. Un drinkable. We paid and left. What a shame. Very sorry will not be going back.

My brother and elderly mum had lunch here today (30TH)October. There was a lovely fire and several staff to welcome us. All staff were attentive and friendly. The food was very tasty and well presented. The real bonus for my mum was the small portions. It is so rare to be offered this and so wasteful when you have to leave food. The food is freshly made so you may need to wait a little longer but its well worth the wait and piping hot. The salmon and haddock fish cakes were served with chips and garden peas. A sweet chilli dip was served in a dish and we also asked for tartare sauce. I had the Texan melt which was very like A Hunters Chicken only the chicken was pan fried which made it more appetising. Sweets were also lovely and again small helpings were available. Chocolate torte was to die for. Not too rich but very chocolately! We will certainly visit the Crosby again.Lovely food and friendly staff. What more could you want?

Our table was booked about a week before our visit. As we were ordering our meal another party of around 12 arrived. Whilst we were waiting for our meal, mains only at this point, the party were served their starters. After about 50 minutes we enquired how long our meal would be. We were told it wouldn't be long. About 10 minutes later the party began to receive their main meal, so we asked again and were told the same thing. During all this time no one came to our table to offer an explanation or ask if we wanted to order more drinks. After about 70 minutes we received our meal. Whilst the meal was well cooked, the plate, meat, gravy and roast potatoes were luke warm and of course the meal was very late. No apologies or updates offered and when I commented about it whilst paying I was ignored. It seems a good reputation is a marker for smugness.

We had a lovely large window table with plenty of space and you could either have a Sunday roast or order from the main menu which was great as our party of 8 chose a mixture of both options. I had sea bass from the specials board and really enjoyed it. Good portions, excellent chips and a very friendly environment. My friend and I both had paninis and chips. The chips were just amazing. The best ever! One day i'll have dessert but as the mains are so filling I've not managed it yet. Love this pub x

I contacted The Crosby Inn to ask if they would be able to provide morning coffee for a group of asylum seekers/refugees coming for a day out from Middlesbrough to enjoy a walk in the country. Not only did Chris and Moira open early for us, provide beautiful fresh coffee, tea and biscuits, but they said it was on the house! I am blown away by the generosity and welcoming hospitality they offered to these folk (from Syria, Iran and Iraq). They were incredibly kind and attentive. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We stopped at The Crosby by chance on our way to our holiday cottage and what a cracker of a find. Pub really friendly and the food was fantastic. Best gravy we have ever had and the chips were to die for. Wish we lived closer. Lovely pub.

The staff are really friendly and the place has a pretty good atmosphere. The food is good, if a little over priced. The only gripe is that the menu hasn't changed in years and could use a refresh

We used the Crosby regularly when we lived nearby. Never disappointed, always a warm welcome and the food is consistent and flavoursome. We now look forward to our visits back to the UK so that we can go and have a meal there. The main menu is great and the Sunday Lunches are great portions and cooked to perfection

Fantastic Sunday lunch,we went last week at 6.30 I had a delicious roast beef dinner, lashings of tasty gravy, tender slices of beef ,light fluffy Yorkie and a dish of perfectly cooked vegetables to finish I simply had to try the chocolate, cherry and rum trifle. Yummy chunks of brownie, lush black cherry and a drizzle of rum topped with cream totally gorgeous

We regularly eat here and I can honestly say that over the years we have never had a bad meal. The staff, surroundings and food are all second to none. A proper village pub with a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of meals as well as the specials board which is regularly changed. The only downside is that I can rarely manage dessert however fear not you can take it away. We also recently visited for my gran’s birthday and put a special request in for fillet steak which was no trouble at all. If you haven’t been you must try it.

Beautiful food that’s good value for money! The customer service is A*. Eaten here many times evening and lunch and can’t recommend it enough. Scallops or black pudding starters are a definite hit. Sunday lunches are to die for!

Came across The Crosby on our visit to Yorkshire - we were after a traditional pub, with no fuss, but decent food, and this was absolutely perfect. Welcomed warmly, cosy fire, great food of massive proportions and really good value. Recommended.

Lovely menu. Very accommodating for my mother in a wheelchair and gave us a good table where I could wheel her chair easily. Really friendly staff. Thank you.

Food good as usual unfortunately the management have decided to add 10 percent service charge onto bill without notifying the customer. We had to ask for it to be removed which was embarrassing and spoilt our night. We like to leave a tip but do not want to be dictated too about the amount. Due to this new policy we will not be returning.

The Blacksmiths Arms was recommended by a friend for Sunday lunch, we were not disappointed, with a huge carpark and a warm welcome we were shown the table we had previously booked. Drinks were brought and shortly our roast dinners arrived, plenty of everything and was delicious, followed by a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding, then relax in the bar area with more drinks and idle chitchat. The bill was very reasonable so would definitely recommend a visit, various interesting places nearby, Castle Howard, Sherriff Hutton Castle, Malton, Howardian Hills.
