Fish and chips was excellent, great batter! Chicken cooked for a gluten free eater and was excellent too. Very helpful staff

Hubby + me went here for a late lunch last Tuesday. I enjoyed a buttered chip bap (£2.95) and he was pleased with his regular chips (£3.00). We ate them inside which was clean and tidy. The Xmas decs were bright and colourful.

Finding an establishment that truly gives value for money is rare these days, delighted to have found the Creel as we sauntered down the High Street, being pensioners we were immediately attracted to the Meal Deal which ran until 3pm, small fish & chips with the choice of one extra side, I had curry sauce my wife had peas, the food was hot, tasty and ample for £5.50 p p, eat in or out, Highly recommend

Being well seasoned chippy lovers and with the reviews looking great we went. The order was for 3 people and seemed expensive at checkout which we later discovered was because they gave us 2 extra fish and 3 extra chips. There was only cod available which was thin and tasteless. On the extras avoid the fried cheese triangle things at all costs as tasted of poo and chemicals. The gravy was just hot brown water (both in and out). Oh and the pickled egg for the journey home was like nuclear waste and the worst I’ve had in 40 years giving me bad gut ache. On a positive note the sachets of condiments were fine. FYI I hear there’s a banging chippy down the road in Criccieth 👀

Staff friendly and efficient. Chips were fabulous, good portion size. Highly recommend stopping here.

It seems we weren't the only ones in August to be served fish in way too much batter. Because the batter was so thick, it had not cooked through and had absorbed lots of fat. Not great.

This food was ok. Disappointed as we looked on here for a good chippy. The chips were nice but the fish was hard to spot under all the batter….. maybe it was just because it was very busy but no excuse for greasy, tiny fish.

After a quick Google of fish and chips in porthmadog we landed on this place! Fantastic service, great to hear Welsh being spoken by staff (as a Welsh speaking family) and we had the option of sitting inside which we did. Ordered a fish and chips, sausage and chips and 2 x kids sausage and chips. Lovely food, fantastic service highly recommend! Diolch yn fawr

We couldn't find anywhere to eat on a Sat evening 6pm & stumbled upon The Creel. 100% worth it the food was delicious & not a crumb was left. The pie, fish & nuggets went down a treat with their soft delicious chips & we would definitly return. The only thing we would've wished for would have been the ability to sit inside to eat.

Went to the Creel takeaway tonight for dinner. Placed our order of 2 Scampi dinners (scampi, chips, peas, homemade tartar sauce and 2 cans of drinks £22.90. The 2 ladies serving were extremely polite, courteous and very helpful. Brought the food back, opened the box and found a substantial well presented dinner, not all thrown together. All of the food was well cooked and tasted lovely. As to the home made tartar sauce it was brilliant. I would recommend anyone want fish and chips to use the Creel, you won’t be disappointed we weren’t.

Come to Porthmadog on a regular basis, have never been to the creel before. Portion size massive, quality of food fantastic. Whole family thoroughly enjoyed the meal, definitely make a trip to this great fish and chip shop!

Great portion of chips loads of mushy peas and a massive fish done to perfection. A real nice warm friendly welcome and spotlessly clean i must say. Went on a day trip to Porthmadog from Llandudno when having a weekend away. We did the same trip last year and thought how lovely the fish and chips at the Creel were then so on a repeat trip we didn't think we'd get the same quality but they tasted even better.These chips are absolutely delicious, just like home made how my mom used to make them and cod is fresh tender and succulant. The staff are really friendly and accommodating.We sat inside and sheared a cod and chips between 2 and a cup of tea each and it was absolutely delish.I urge you to try them if your in the area and you won't be disapointed. Only chip shop on the high street I think.

Arrived in Porthmadog after Festiniog railway journey. Brilliant fish and Chips served in Eco friendly tray (no Plastic) good size fish and the chips were crispy and non greasy just how i like them.

Amazing, fresh and huge fish and chips. We called in here on recommedation from our holiday cottage guides after a particulary tricky climb on Snowdon. They were just what we needed. Delicious.

visited here whilst staying in the area and as the title says we enjoyed it so much we went back twice! The place was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent, really tasty and very generous portions. They did beef cutlets which I have never seen in a chip shop before and they were wonderful. I would also highly recommend the fish cakes! Certainly on our list of places to revisit next year.

After a long drive to porthmadog, all we wanted was a quick bite before turning in. As this was right by where we parked the car, we headed for it. I am so glad we did, as the sit in fish and chips were fab, and at a reasonable price.

Great size portions and absolutely to die for! Best fish and chips I have ever eaten, our children were quiet as mice whilst they cleaned their plates! A must when you are visiting Porthmadog.

Family sit in chip tea and wasn’t disappointed. Didn’t have to wait long after ordering. Everything was piping hot and freshly cooked. The chips were excellent, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The best chips I have had in a long time. Well worth a visit.

First visit was on a busy August Saturday evening. Waited a long time for our food while other customers came and went, the chef served his friend with a free sausage and then pulled a fishcake from the hotplate and ate it, staring strangely at us while pointedly not cooking our kids' chicken nuggets. In the end after about 20 mins we complained and he then decided to put the nuggets on to cook. When it finally came though the food was lovely (and the young girl behind the counter did apologise). Second visit on a quieter weekday was perfect.

Perfect fish and chips, fresh with light batter. Busy but didn't have to wait long. Wonderful homemade tartare sauce!
