The hotel looks like an old mansion from the outside. Everything inside is old but it works, except for the sliding windows. The rooms have very different sizes. The food (half board) is good and the staff is friendly. You can take wonderful walks along the Spey from the hotel.

We were sadly disappointed with our visit to the hotel. I’m giving it three stars instead of one as staff were lovely but that wasn’t enough to make it a good experience. Usually it’s “you get what you pay for” but we paid £110 for a double room for the night and £44 for a meal with two drinks. I’m aware it’s the Scottish Highlands but the price remains unjustified (and we live in Edinburgh, so we’re used to extortionate prices). Before I decided to book I read in the reviews that the hotel needs a makeover but that’s an understatement. The shower was unusable; it went from freezing cold to boiling hot no matter what settings we’d choose. I stepped out of the shower covered in soap and it was impossible for me to finish. There is a sink in the room (not in the bathroom) which is strange although I understand it’s an old hotel. Most importantly, the entire floor creaks (a lot)… both the floor we walked on and the one of the upstairs floor which was annoying. That meant I couldn’t go to the bathroom at night without waking up others. That also meant that when people upstairs decided to get up at 6am we could no longer sleep. It’s sadly not a noise you can sleep through. All in all, we felt like £110 was totally unjustified and we travel across the UK a lot, we’re familiar with locations and it’s not our first time in the Cairngorms. I’m not leaving this review lightly but I believe it had to be shared. The hotel looks much nicer in the photos but it’s too dated even for a 3-star hotel.

a classic older hotel with some of the challenges that go with an older building but by own feedback is positive and i would have no trouble staying here again - just understand that it isnt the ritz and nor does it pretent to be but overall, i had a pleasant visit and the hotel was very clean all round and had great wifi which is the no 1 thing that drives me nuts when staying away from home.

All staff worked hard but always friendly. Food was good and varied. Some rooms in need of TLC but in the process of renovation. Definitely recommend.

We have visited many hotels, but this is the hotel where we felt most welcome. It is an older hotel with a lot of atmosphere. Staff also ensure the right tone. The food is good. Choose from meat, fish or vegetarian every day and an extensive buffet during Christmas.

Super nice, authentic and cozy hotel! We celebrated Christmas here and we have never had such a nice Christmas. Delicious food in a beautifully decorated hotel. Lovely people and the service is good. They do everything to make you feel welcome and at home. It was a hot bath! And yes, the floors creak, but that does not outweigh the hospitality and fun we had. Thank you for a fantastic holiday and Christmas!🎅🎄🎅💓😘

Stayed for 4 nights on holiday with Acklams of Beverley.Staff absolutely first class. However when we got to our room, opened door to toilet to discover a small pool of water in front of the toilet!!. Told reception, sadly no one came at all to sort the problem.I mopped the water ? hopefully myself. The shower was behind a sliding door (with the toilet) and was very poor,it was barely a trickle of water no matter what you did.I read other reviews stating that they were in a refurbished room,we weren't.The twin beds were very comfortable, but the floors creaked very very badly, I pity anyone in a room underneath! The shower room had flaking and cracked wallpapered ceiling.Drinks in the bar weren't cheap if you could get one. There were 6 taps for draft beers, ciders. But by the second night only draft cider and a pale ale were available, so it was bottled beer only.Breakfast was ok, but bacon and sausages weren't cooked enough. At evening meals starters and desserts were ok, but main meals! There was always sweetcorn and carrots and mashed potatoes, very rarely anything else as an accompanying. This was our third holiday with Acklams holidays and this was the worst for food sadly. We discovered that the day that we left the hotel it was closing until Christmas, so were they just using up food etc until they would restock for the Christmas period.Great holiday, shame about the food etc. .

I used a Red letter Day voucher, which 'highlighted' the hotel for the area we wanted to go to....and the pictures on the website looked promising...Once we got there ..oh dear, how disappointing. Our voucher was for DBB room rate was £90pn our voucher was worth £120. The room was poky and dated with a sliding door to the cupboard that was the en-suite shower 'room'. Floor was extremely creaky, and I pity the occupants of the room below if there was one. Highlights - dinner and the staff Lows - shower door broken, heehaw toilet roll and no spare. Squeaky floor. Uncomfortable bed We didn't stay for breakfast... left nice and early the next day. Should have read the reviews properly before visiting. Sorry, Craiglynne..not so much Bespoke as Banal. The 2 stars are for your staff and the meal.

Hotel in terrible condition, I had read some reviews and when I entered the hotel there was already a bad smell. The furniture in the reception was very dirty. The person who attended us at the reception was very rude.

A picturesque hotel to stop and stay, on your way to Highlands. Rooms are clean, comfy, and most probably renovated recently. Friendly and helpful staff, especially at the restaurant (Manu & Pavi) and the reception. Had a nice English breakfast! 👍

Horrible! Dated and dirty , checked in to room which was a garden view ! We had a view of a road , it took us ages to find out room. Once in, we found it to be very dated , worn out carpet , wardrobe door wouldn't open , hairs under the sheet on the bed , hair on toilet seat ! We decided not to stay , even though we had booked for two nights id rather loose the money and stay somewhere else than here ! Such a shame as the building is lovely but this hotel needs to be shut down and a few million spent on it , do that and it's worth a visit , otherwise , avoid!

I was currently on a tour at the Craiglynne Hotel for 2 days. Personally, I think the hotel has a typically British charm that you rarely find in today's hotels. Yes, the rooms are in need of some renovation, but they are currently being renovated little by little. The room was clean and it was absolutely quiet from the traffic. It's noisy inside, which doesn't really bother me. The breakfast and dinner were good. The bar is quaint and cozy, as is the lobby. The service quick. I would book it again for a tour.

Unacceptable conditions! The hotel should definitely be closed, this is absolutely harmful to health. The breakfast is also unreasonable. The rooms and furniture are completely outdated and you feel like you are in a dungeon, incredibly dark!!! Never again !

Poorly maintained hotel. Lots of moisture and mold spots in the shower and on the window frames. Poor paintwork, curtains are broken, toilet has difficulty flushing. The hotel is really in need of a makeover. We have booked 8 rooms and they all have defects.

Very beautiful from the outside but aging inside. For our group 1 night spent and we had a good laugh about the size of the rooms or what they are like. The place has remained in its original state as they say. No double glazing. Clean room. On the other hand, frozen food is not good.

Reception and dining areas are nice. The elevator was a joke and the room was large, but raggedy. Also, the shower was hard to manipulate. We had a nice walk about town.

Completely blocked window and shower. Endless mold. There is definitely a health risk. We landed here from March 28th to 30th, 2024 as part of a tour with “Clever Tours”. The external impression is extremely deceptive. The inside is very old and should actually be closed immediately for renovation.

Food was pretty good. Came on a tour group. Was with my wife and brother in law, and stayed in a family room in the attic. Elevator would take part way, then had to zig zag hallways with a few steps up and down, then to finish the journey to the room, had to still go up 2 1/2 flights of stairs. There was a water heater in a closet with couch cushions . After some rather scenic view of an elevated discussion, we will be moved to a renovated family room on the first floor. Brother in law is handicap and not able to continuously go up and down the stairs. Most of the staff was friendly, with the exception of what seemed to be the manager. He is gonna take care of the room, however his attitude was very poor. Brendan Tours. Our Tour Director George was great and made sure things were right proper.

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of my tour in July 2023. The hotel makes a good impression from the outside, the lobby is also inviting but the rooms are unfortunately not very inviting. The food in the restaurant, however, was okay.

Hui from the outside, yuck from the inside! Beautiful building where no money has been invested for ages. We turned on the warm water at 6:00 a.m. At 6:15 a.m. a touch of warm water arrived. The mold could not be overlooked and it smelled musty.

This is my third visit to this hotel in a year. Lovely place. The staff greet you like old friends. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good. To walk off the huge meals there is a lovely walk across the road to the River Spey through a woodland. And a gentle stroll into the town reveals interesting Artisan shops and cafes. I have already booked my next visit.

I waited about 10 minutes for my order, and while they were apologetic for the wait, they also forgot one of my items which I failed to notice until I walked 15 minutes back to my hotel room. Otherwise the food that did make it into my bag was good
