The Craigdarroch Inn Pub in Highland

Tasty food with a great view of Lochness. The staff are lovely and they have a good selection of whisky. Good value 3 course meal deal.

Food undercooked. Rude, sly, snobbish staff. Expect to pay the national debt for a meal here. They HATE kids. Don’t bother.

We stayed here for one night during a mini tour of Loch Ness. Firstly, what an amazing location. The view from the hotel is amazing. We checked into Room 3, a loch view room, it was gorgeous, spacious and a really comfy room. All the furniture matched, something not always the case these days. I could have stood at the window admiring the view all evening. Bathroom was beautifully decorated, with great shower. No dip in pressure etc. WiFi which is essential here as signal can be patchy was superb. Dinner was lovely in the conservatory/dining room. An excellent choice of meals, all beautifully prepared and presented. The Cod was meaty and delicious, as were the prawns to start, and hubby loved the apple sauce with the haggis starter. Breakfast was also excellent - nice to have ‘proper’ bacon, thick and flavoursome not like you get in a supermarket. All in all a relaxing, comfortable stay in a stunning location. We were sad to leave and will definitely return. We didn’t but you can walk to the nearby Falls of Foyers right from the hotel.

We had a beautiful Sunday roast probably May/June last year. They were commenting how slow business was, unfortunately now we know why. I have tried several times to get in touch to book a table, there is never an answer on the phone, no use leaving a message as no one gets back to you and no point emailing because that has no response either. Lovely place to go if you can actually get in, shame!

This hotel is difficult to find the signs having been taken down. Arrived 20 minutes late because of this and were told we were late and there was no table for us! We made a fuss telling them about their neighbouring hotel who were fed up with directing people to them due to lack of signage and asked us to pass this message on. We were given a table half an hour later and an explanation that their hotel guests get special directions. Definitely got the impression that didn’t want outside diners which was confirmed when they refused 3 French cyclists a table even though they had made 5 calls and sent emails, they were told the phone/internet were down which was rubbish as we paid the bill using Apple Pay. The food was good and the view stunning but the sinks in the ladies toilets were filthy. Don’t bother to try and book if you aren’t going to stay. Poor example of Scottish hospitality!

We visited this restaurant for lunch with friends based on TA ratings, after a morning cruise with Jacobite cruises on Loch Ness (which was excellent!). It was quite a drive to get here on the single track roads in the rain & we weren’t holding out much hope for anything more than standard pub fayre but how wrong we were. The food is excellent, it’s beautifully presented & freshly cooked using local ingredients. The view from the restaurant down to the Loch is stunning & the waitress was lovely & friendly. Be aware that there is next to no mobile signal unless you are on EE!! Would throughly recommend the drive to come here but there are no real signs & sat nav takes you in the wrong direction if you use the postcode so use their directions!

The Craigdarroch Hotel is an excellent place to unwind with a drink and the food, whilst we did not sample it, looked great. Certainly the plates were going back empty and those eating next to us were complimenting their choices. Mairi and her colleagues were polite, efficient, engaging with us and other clients which gave a personal touch.The environment was relaxed which is just what we needed after 64 miles of cycling the Scottish Highlands. I have no hesitation recommending this establishment and hope to visit again in the future.

What a hidden gem!! We’d booked the hotel late for our last night of a week long road trip taking in Inveraray and Mull, so there wasn’t a huge amount of choice. But seriously, we’re we to visit Loch Ness/Fort Augustus/Inverness again, we’d book in here in a heartbeat. The recently refurbished property has the most stunning location, overlooking Loch Ness. Savouring a beer after a hike to the Foyers waterfall and enjoying dinner whilst taking in the views, was a very special experience. The hosts are very welcoming and eager to make your stay special. The chef is very talented and we enjoyed the next meal of the whole week from a great menu. Our bedroom was very comfortable, with a sumptuous mattress and clearly high threadcount linens. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort in a very special setting.

We spent our Christmas at the Craigdarroch Hotel. We can’t rate the hotel more highly or the staff. The room was lovely with a four poster bed and en-suite. Amazed by the views of Loch Ness, from our room and from the bar and restaurant. The breakfast was delicious, as were all the Christmas meals. They cater well for vegetarians. It was our first time in Scotland and we couldn’t have received a warmer welcome. We hope to return soon. Thank you Nigel and Rich and all your staff for such a wonderful stay.

Great location, great room and excellent food. Spent 1 night and would happily book to return. Enjoyed beers in the garden and then had absolutely superb meal in the restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was very good too. Off the beaten track but would highly recommend.

Due to our party size we booked in advance and paid a deposit. We were asked to pre order from the daytime menu which had probably 7 items on there. View was amazing , food quality was satisfactory. Drinks selection was good. We had 4 children in our group and asked for extra tortilla chips for the large bowls of chilli or some chips and it was almost too much and the chips were refused unless ordered with a sandwich coating £11+….Don’t think the hotel likes children though so not really a family friendly place…. Overall quite disappointing and overpriced but not awful.

Excellent, attentive service. Clearly focused on delivering quality food to a manageable number of diners/guests and so much better for it. Cracking menu, lots of gluten free options. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cracking views from the benches outside and the restaurant. So good we rebooked to come back the night after, and it did not disappoint. Won’t lie, the food and the service made our holiday and we very much look forward to coming back soon.

We highly recommend dining in the restaurant! The meal and service was outstanding. Michelle and her husband, David, made our evening. This was the highlight of our holiday. The food was up with the best we've ever tasted. Fantastic service, which was relaxed but stylish. I particularly enjoyed the layers of flavour in a vegan dish I chose, and the non-vegan/non-vegetarian starter I had was amazing. I recommend you go out of your way to eat here. Wonderful!

We had 10 fabulous breakfasts , and 7 Fabulous dinners during our stay. The hosts team could not do another for you and made you feel like friends than guest's. The service and food was excellent. The menu was varied and covered all tastes, so there was no reason why anybody leaves feeling hungry. The restaurant and bar areas were clean and tidy and comfortable. The view from the restaurant was amazing over Loch Ness. The only negative is that we only spent ten days there.

Well, where do I start? Fantastic customer experience from the serving crew - Michelle, Helen and Mike! Smiling faces, welcoming, great craic and an absolute delight! The menu is short but so appetising, locally sourced food, and Michelin star quality, thanks to the chef Dave! At very reasonable price!!! After having been to this venue several times, years ago, a group of 6 adults and 8 kids went there in the afternoon recently. We were told straight away that we cannot have any food, not even chips for the kids and were not made feel welcome at all, in fact staff, among them the new owner, made no secret of the fact that they want us to leave asap (neither kids nor adults were what you would call a "rowdy crowd", quite the opposite. Unfortunately the new owner has taken a lovely, warm and friendly place and turned into a cold, wanna be money maker. Our experience was confirmed by other people we spoke to, tourists as well as locals. It is such a shame, as this was a true gem and a lovely space to spend some quality time (and - happily - spend quite a bit of money as well), but these days most folk's business will not be wanted. Very disappointing, despite the location and surrounds - for a good experience, take your business elsewhere (Whitebridge, e.g.).

We were staying in Foyers for a couple of nights and had spotted the sign for a local Pub. We were excited and thought, especially as the weather wasn’t on our side, that we would spend most of our visit eating a drinking in the local pub. So we took the ten minute walk from our accommodation. Arrived at the lovely looking building. Followed the sign to the right that said pub. We were greeted by two very friendly people and shown to our table. Unfortunately we discovered, since their refit, it is no longer a pub and more of a restaurant. We had a meal. Drank our drinks and we’re out by 7:30. With the rest of the night to kill in Foyers…. So we had a very early night and sadly did not return. The garden had plenty of tables and I’m sure in the summer it is a wonderful place to enjoy an afternoon/evening. In the winter however it is a little less inviting for anything other than food.

Staying at the lodges next door and was recommended to try this place and wow what a recommendation we had drinks as a well deserved treat after 7hours in the car. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The table next to us had food brought out and it looked amazing so we booked to eat the next night. We were not disappointed the food was even better than it looked every one of us finished the entire meal (unheard of). We were that impressed we went back again for Sunday dinner and and that was even better than the night before such a gem this place even those with fussy eaters (like me) will find an amazing meal cooked by a talented chef and served by such friendly people. We will be back.

Amazing! We last visited about 4 years ago, when the dining area was part of the bar and the food was typical bar food. It was fine, but nothing special. Last night we had a window table in a much improved dining room. The waiter was funny, charming, personable and attentive. The food was just sublime. Neither hubby nor I could fault it. Not the cheapest (though we did choose the more expensive options), but most definitely worth it. We loved it so much we have booked in again for Saturday night!

Good points and bad points about this hotel. Good points are the app to order food and drinks at table, We did take a little time to get to used to the app but it was quick and drinks arrived quickly. Bad points..... The Inn is run down, drab in places. Our bedroom was like walking back in time to 40 years. The furniture was old, dark, and the carpets were really well worn. The bed was good and comfortable. Our evening meal was disappointing,, and served by waiters who really need to wear clean clothes when serving customers. Breakfast also was disappointing, eggs were hard scrambled things that looked like egg,and again no choice was given. No cereals no fruit and no choice of breakfast. Staff looked like they didn't want to be there. Won't stay here again,,,, think I will spend my £120 some were else.

I’d read the reviews and really did not have high hopes . Access was ok and plenty of room to park - this was a Sunday evening. Too cold to sit outside so we ventured in via the clearly marked one way system , sat at a table and using the QR code on the table ordered and paid for our drinks. Hey presto ! Within 10 minutes everything had arrived - staff could not have been more welcoming or friendly - the waitress gave us an extra plate to enable us to share our meals. The pizza was really good - lovely crisp charcoaled bottom and the chilli had a good kick about it- we ordered a bowl of fries and with drinks - 2 soft drinks and a bottle of Stella - it came to a shade over £36. A bit on the salty side if you get my drift,but, hey this is Loch Ness and there are beautiful views over the water. Sadly Nessie did not show up for dinner !So, all in all, a very pleasant experience !

Their COVID approach is bonkers and utterly ridiculous. Popped in for a pint in the middle of a hike only to be requested to fill 20 odd fields on a multi-page online form with not fully representative menu to order _anything_ from the bar, even though it was manned and we could have been served in seconds, filling name and phone on a paper. No wonder they stay empty.

The weather always makes everywhere better but this was just an epic wee find. Overlooking Loch Ness with very friendly staff, food was excellent, brilliant app to order at your table and the food and drinks arrived 5 mins later.

We are staying in lodges a short walk from the Craigdarroch Inn and couldn’t be happier that we have this place on our doorstep.The staff are fantastic & after travelling around the Highlands for our holiday I would say that the Craigdarroch is one place that really has got itself sorted for dealing with the Covid situation. All food and drink (food only served between 6-8:30pm), is ordered via an app & bar staff will bring over. There is still a lovely atmosphere in the bar which is one thing which I feel has been lacking with other places we’ve visited and honestly think this is down to the commitment of the staff.We’ve been in for drinks only after a long walk and then dinner tonight both times bringing 2 dogs and 2 kids and made to feel so welcome. Food was great & good selection of drinks.Would highly recommend

Great food and atmosphere with stunning views. This Inn is an integral part of the community and as such gives a warm highland welcome to visitors on 2 legs or 4!

Not the location you are likely to drop into in the passing as it's up a steep and pot-holed driveway. The Inn has an outlook over the forest towards Loch Ness and a large caravan park so not that inspiring but I'd guess if the weather was good it would be nice enough to sit at one of the picnic benches outside.We were surprised to see that the Inn displayed a high rating by the AA as it looked as if the place had been untouched for years however we only stopped off for coffee and cake in the bar and had limited experience. The seating had seen better days however the barman was obliging enough and provided some nice fruit cake and tasty (though lukewarm) coffee. The small menu displayed in the bar (available early evening) had possibilities as far as we were concerned but you would need to be staying at the Inn or locally which we were not.

It was pretty late when we arrived for dinner with our two children and dog and were very warmly welcomed (especially the dog!). Food was not the snazziest but was good enough for a hot meal after putting up a tent in the rain. We would pop back again and thought the staff were incredibly friendly.

Standard pub-food, no surprises. I think it has been better, as visited here about 4 times... Anyhow there are lot of B&B´s around ad this is the rare one to serve food...

Not a lot of competition but it's still a decent pub that serves a decent pint. If the weather is kind you can sit outside and watch the sunset over loch Ness if it's not you can sit inside and watch the weather.

So this pub was quite hidden and it's a little walk off the main path. Barmaid was French and so so lovely, the tills played up for what felt like forever and she couldn't apologise enough bless her. Had some grumpy customers walk out but that can't be helped if the till's down. Really friendly staff. Food was good, pizza was homemade. Nice selection of drinks included some cans of cocktails which I hadn't seen before.

When we ordered our drinks the till had broken because we wanted to pay by card so took about ten minutes to get fixed while a queue formed behind us. We didn’t mind this as we knew it wasn’t the staffs fault. The food we ordered didn’t take too long to arrive and tasted nice. However there wasn’t much variety of food choice. There wasn’t anywhere else closer around to eat in either. Overall the visit wasn’t bad.

Travelled from Leeds, called before to make a reservation, told it would be no problem to serve 8 of us, just pop up.Arrived to our lodge early, thought I’d pop in and make sure that all will be fine especially travelling with 2 young children Was told then we are not welcome for dinner!!Absolutely rubbish

After a long road trip we were looking for a place to eat. The Pub serves food until 8:30 PM which was perfect for us. While not a culinary masterpiece, we had some Cajun Spiced Chicken and a Salmon (with an excellent salad). The food was fresh and tasty. Pub service (pay at bar they bring to table). A few cask-conditioned ales as well.

Nous avons voulu nous y rendre pour manger au sein de leur restaurant un soir d'été. Étant donné qu'il n'y a pas vraiment d'autres alternatives sur Foyers, nous nous y sommes rendus un peu à contre cœur (ayant lu les mauvais avis sur TripAdvisor avant). Une fois arrivés sur place, nos craintes ont bien été confirmées. Personne pour nous accueillir, nous nous sommes donc installés et avons attendu une vingtaine de minutes que quelqu'un nous apporte les menus ou vienne ne serait-ce que nous saluer...et rien. Nous avons finalement du nous résoudre à nous rendre au bar pour demander le menu et la, la déception.... Le restaurant ne propose quasiment aucune nourriture écossaise et les prix sont franchement exagérés pour ce qui y est proposé. Finalement, après 10 minutes d'attente de plus sans que le serveur ne viennent nous trouver nous sommes partis sans rien commander. Le service est affreux et l'on voit qu'ils sont complètement débordés par les évènements. A éviter.

As our check in at Foyers House was from 4.30pm we had a drink at Craigdarroch and the setting was so lovely we returned for dinner that evening which was most enjoyable.

This is our 'local' as we frequently stay in Foyers by Loch Ness. We had a disappointing meal two or three years ago, so we just went up for a drink with a view. When there was short shower we went indoors and could see from the diners' reactions that they were enjoying their dinner. So - despite our previous experience - we decided to order. Great friendly service from the young lady serving us. My burger was very good, with a nice little side salad too, and my husband really enjoyed his curry. We'll be back - and not just for a drink!

We visited on lovely sunny evening for Afew drinks. The Hotel was busy with its guests and visitors to the restaurant & bar from the surrounding area.

My husband and I stayed at Craigdarroch Inn for two nights and ate at the Inn’s pub both evenings. Overall, we were very satisfied with the pub offerings.

We arrived in Foyers after a long day on the water doing the Great Glen Canoe Trail.

Great food,(awesome steak and ale pie). Pleasant service and an absolutely fantastic view across the loch to the hills.

The views are breathtaking , the staff are really friendly. We had a loch view and well worth the extra .we had a supeking bed , matteress was a bit soft for me as I like a firm mattress but it didn't stop me having a great sleep. The shower was really powerful.The food in the evening was lovely, typical pub food , not a huge amount to choose from but was fine for us . Breakfast was continental, you had to pay extra for anything cooked . The drive to get there the roads are single track in alot of places so be prepared . We will go back .

Myself and my partner both had the homemade pizzas which were delicious and enough for one! Everyone was very polite and the prices were excellent. Great that you could play darts or pool as well for free. The views were stunning and well worth our walk up the hill!

When we got to the bar ,I could see by the way the waitress served us was a bit dry and not friendly at all. Then by that sort of behaviour I decided not to eat there, I saw when a lady approached the bar asking Sheila??? not sure is the same long hair woman asked what they cooking ,she had the worse attitude as the lady asked what it was, even if I did not know, go in the kitchen and ask next time :) if you are selling :) create a good customer service and be pleasant to tourists or you do not need us coming in?????????? The other guys were really nice and your customers.

The village pub came highly recommended from a local we met earlier in the day. The pub was very busy and had a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced too! It gets very busy so I would advise getting in early to get a table as you can't reserve one. We ate outside and enjoyed the views out to lochness. Well worth the walk up to the top of the hill!!

Don’t go here for the food or service, but go for the spectacular outside views of loch ness. Enjoy a wine or beer outside in the garden and take in the scenery. If you do eat here definitely don’t order the steak, it was the chewiest piece of meat I have ever had.

Visited this pub whilst staying a wonderful wee cottage at the bottom of the road , visited this pub 3 times , it's a lovely very friendly place , and allows dogs , the place is spotless and staff are so friendly, you can use the pool table and dart board free of charge , the food looked amazing however we didn't eat here , the best part was sitting outside having a drink looking down to the loch and all the beautiful scenery, we didn't want to come home. It's a must to give it a visit if you are in foyers .

This seems to be the only pub serving hot food in the area hence the reason for not going all out I surpose. Lovely views though and the larger was nice.

Stumbled across this place whilst touring the area. Out of the way with some fantastic views of Loch Ness. Menu quite limited and two major items offbon the day of our visit, steak and pizzas.

Wonderful little bolt hole of a pub in an iconic location which I have seen slowly build since opening a few years back. You are guaranteed a warm welcome with excellent food and drink on offer. You do not have a lot of choice in this area so this place is a bit of an oasis. Recommended.

Arrived at this hotel for two nights stay. Rooms ok but afternoon bar staff completely miserable, food poor and continental breakfast poor. Cold coffee which was changed and second cup cold, toast, looked like it hadn’t seen the toaster. The only hotel we visited in Scotland that you had to pay for a cooked breakfast. This hotel was expensive for what it offers and certainly not worthy of its AA four star. We would not recommend staying here.

You won't get a warm or friendly reception here. Locals in pub seem amused with tourists coming in and wish to have ' a laugh ' at their expense. Contemplated eating here, but changed mind after encounter with barman.

We stopped here for dinner on our way around Loch Ness, what a great decision! It’s almost a secret this pub, you have to work your way down a small track to get there. Great selection of simple pub meals that were served quickly, accompanied (of course!) by an excellent selection of beers. Can highly recommend the Isle of Skye beers on tap, the Amber ale was golden and rich.

The pie and chips was excellent but the ravioli was awful! The puddings were great and the choice of beer was excellent.

We stumbled upon this fantastic inn just above Foyers on Loch Ness. The beer was fantastic and the staff were welcoming and gave us a real lift. Thank you. We will return to sample the great menu.

Find this pub and you will be in for a treat with the views, food prepared by a chef who puts specials on his menu which are very very nice and lovely attentive pleasant staff.

On our recent visit to Foyers, we spent a couple of evenings in the pub!! Very friendly staff and locals and a great selection of beers, gins and whiskies! What more could a person ask for........! We didn't eat here but the food looked delicious....

Chose to spend a few nights by Loch Ness to see the most majestic scenery and do some walking. With a little research we landed at foyers as an area and thought craigdarroch inn looked spot on. On arrival it’s more b&b; than anything else...

My partner and I came here for dinner on our last night in Loch Ness (staying at Loch Ness Shores). Pub was a short walk up the hill with amazing views. Food was pretty standard pub grub (we had scampi and burger and chips) but was good and service was great. Overall would recommend. Nothing fancy but does the job.
