Great food, lovely staff! Fabulous dog area (dog menu, treats, blankets, poo bags, bowls)

We returned to the Cove last Friday after 2 years, our absence followed awful service by the previous owners. I am delighted to say we were absolutely blown away by the menu and the outstanding quality of food - so much so we asked to meet the Chef - lovely guy. Go you really will not find better in Cornwall - pricing very good too

Amazing experience! We started with a complimentary amouse-bouche carrot and coriander frothy soup which was delectable. After which the chef made a starter portion of mushroom risotto which was esquisit and packed with flavour. We then moved onto the main course which was a vegetable tagine served with couscous and flatbread. Very scrummy! The desserts were very professionally served and a lovely way to finish off a gorgeous meal. The service throughout was amazing and very attentive. Deserves to be full.

Under new ownership and it’s not to be missed ! Amazing service, delicious food, lots of seafood, meat and veggie options. I’d highly recommend ! The pineapple carpaccio and chocolate mousse was delicious! We will be back

A wonderful view of the ocean, a pleasant and tidy restaurant. Good food. I liked the burger, nice fish. Cappuccino - the foam is not stable, it looks different from the previous photos, I had to remind about the dessert because of this, I lowered the rating for the service. When dessert was brought, the coffee was cold.

The Cove is under new ownership from the beginning of February 2025 and we loved it! Bright, cheery and stylish interiors and outstandingly good food. They’ve only been open for a week and we look forward to returning often. And what a welcome bar for dogs!

Main course delivered while my partner was in the toilet with no regard to how long she might have been. Salad with main course pretty un remarkable considering Mr Caines reputation. Coffee delivered before the dessert even arrived. Burnt tweel on dessert with no apology when pointed out to server. Pretty poor considering they were not busy. Disappointing. Food generally good though but unremarkable.

We just had a lovely Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was second to none. Nothing was to much trouble. The manager "Will " is very attentive and very welcoming. We will definitely return . Fabulous 🤩

We were brought a gift card as a wedding gift and it was such a lovely present. The food and wine was incredible and the service was lovely. Will definitely return, thank you for the perfect winter evening.

An excellent culinary experience. We booked lunch here on my birthday so we weren't skimping and it was worth every penny, though they also allow for tighter budgets. Truly amazing flavours. The staff were efficient and friendly.

On Friday night had just driven 300 miles and checked into a B&B around the corner, phoned them at 8pm asking if we could come to eat but they had stopped serving. Couldn't believe it.

Our first visit to a michelin star restaurant. Just what you see on the television. Superbly presented and the tastiest food ever. Great for a special occasion

Really delicious high end restaurant that is dog friendly. The menu choice was so good. It was so hard to decide as it all looked delicious. The food did not disappoint. I think the muscles were the nicest I have tasted. It was great to be able to bring our dog with us while we were on holiday to a restaurant as nice as this. What's not to love?!?

The food was delicious, however, a little pricey for what we had. Was told by the waiter he would bring spoons and finger bowls. We had finished food and were still waiting for the above. We had to ask. We had to tell the waiter we had ordered a bottle of wine as we were waiting for this as well. We had bottled tap water, which wasn't cold. Decor was in need of a spruce. Food on carpet. Leaking canopy. Drinks, i.e., cocktails, expensive. Car park big enough. Staff friendly. Although as above, saying they would get things only to arrive when we were forced to ask for them.

Tasty food, imo, not value for money, even on low end of prices it is expensive, which would be fine if the place was in better condition, dirty floor, food on floor etc..leaking parts in covered seating area....food tasty, service not so great,was left waiting and had to ask again for finger bowls, they forgot wine we ordered so had to remind them...no sugar was brought with coffee, servers had dirty appearance as well as dirty aprons.

Very nice last minute late lunch over August Bank Holiday weekend. We ended up going for a blend of the 3 course deal from the specials and main menu. It is in our opinion the best food in the Falmouth area below £70 a head.

Food was absolutely perfect - a great varied menu and excellent tastes. Service needs attention. If the maitre d’ is going to come out to greet and chat with some tables then don’t ignore others and simply walk past them without any acknowledgement. If staff are going to give fast attentive service to their favourite customers then how does that make new customers feel if they don’t belong to that same clique? I would def revisit but hope that service levels can become equal to all.

Really a very enjoyable evening great food, attentive staff great menu any 3 courses £55 very reasonable. My wife had garlic crevettes l had tempura prawns both excellent. For mains we had hake fillet on mushroom and brown prawn risotto, and breast of Guinea fowl with black pudding Bon Bon and a red wine jus. For dessert we had chocolate parfait and a chocolate cup all courses were very good. We had a bottle of Micheal Caines own label Rose Champagne really excellent not dissimilar to Laurent Perrier Rose. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

A very disappointing evening. The service was painfully slow. Food didn't work. Flavour combinations were wrong and not enjoyable. Michael Caines needs to get down here and give them some guidance.

Adequate free parking, excellent disabled access. Restaurant has no atmosphere and was cold even though it was August and we had to ask to have heater on. Food was adequate but small portions and expensive with vegetables as an extra. Waiters were poorly dressed in old denims and add a 12.5 per cent service charge to make it a very expensive dinner.

A stunning dining experience. WONDERFUL food, beautiful decor, splendid views and great service (James GM is a star) - a truly magical find. Well done team and thank you - we have already booked to come back 😊

We were a bit apprehensive about booking this for our parents golden wedding anniversary due to some of the reviews we had read about group bookings (plus my mum can be quite a perfectionist) but we couldn't have asked for more from manager James and his team. The service was exemplary, the food was excellent and the location was perfect. We were a large booking of 20 and there was nothing we could fault from start to end. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening for my parents and their guests to remember.

Wow wow wow.... We had to do it while on holiday and try the signature taster menu... Best food experience I've ever had... I won't ruin the surprise for anyone by saying what we had but my goodness it was superb and the fresh oysters best we've I've tasted in a long while... Location is stunning... Atmosphere chilled and classic...we sat outside looking over the coastal beach views... Of course I've gone and brought Micheal Caines recipe book now to test my kitchen skills but don't think I'll come anywhere close to this Michelin star chef!!! If your looking for a special treat... This is THE PLACE!!!

Excellent food and service on cove overlooking the sea.

Easter Sunday lunch table for 6. All I can say here is it occupied 3 hours of our time for an average Sunday lunch. The time taken to produce each course was dreadfully long and we all felt for the waiting staff who were lovely. No idea what went wrong and given a hefty discount by way of apology.

Had a fantastic dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my retirement The staff were brilliant and the food was exceptional, Highly recommended The Cove,

Loved the food, very nicer waiter, nice atmosphere (very quiet when we were there on a Sunday evening), very cosy covered terrace. Good experience overall!

I have now eaten at The Cove three times and the food is always excellent. The team went out of their way to ensure that we had a good evening. Looking forward to return when I am next in the Maenporth area.

Left feeling ripped off which was a shame as the food and location was excellent, we had a problem with being overcharged, despite pointing this out, it wasnt resolved to our satisfaction, appreciate its quiet this time of year but no excuse to charge extra hoping people wont notice, wont be back...

Extremely good food and reasonably priced for the quality. Decor cool do with updating but who cares when the food tastes this good. When I got the amuse bouche (arancini ball) I realised I was in for a treat. Every course a banger.

Lots of parking outside, stunning view, great service and fantastic food. The Cove is a must for anyone who loves their food.

We really enjoyed our meal at the cove, and would say it is probably the best dinner we have had anywhere. We will be returning. There was a surprise amuse bouche and bread before our three courses, all of which were fantastic. The black fig (photographed) was probably the highlight of the three courses. We had a cocktail as well which very nice. Cannot recommend more.

Stunning views over the beach from our table. The service we received was faultless! Our meal was amazing and the presentation of every dish was perfect and almost looked too good to eat! We absolutely loved our lunch at the Cove and will be back to try the evening menus. Thank you!

Very over priced small portions but very sickly with all the sauce ect.. not good value for money needs to be more customer friendly menu would not return with this menu, very limited. Also don't agree with the tipping compulsory 12 5% should be decided on the meal and services not by the owner. Be aware of your bill they add a charity donation on not stating which seems a money con!!! Will not be returning

Spectacular seafood with a view

Never had fish cooked that well before it was like a fluffy ocean cloud dancing with angels on my pallet - amazing, a real delight to have been part of ! The whole evening was like theatre, we felt like royal guests of the tzar of ocean food 💥❤️‍🔥🤙🤙🤙 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Wow wow wow, this is the best fish in batter I have ever had. The tartar sauce was equally good and crab starter amazing. Well worth the price.

Mediocre at best, perhaps we got an off night but both the service and food quality were both poor and I struggled with a 1 or 2 star at best. We had high hopes for The Cove and had booked three evening meals as were staying nearby. We cancelled all our subsequent bookings after our first meal due to the problems we found. Service Sadly we found the service to be poor, we sat 20:00 and were not approach for drinks orders until 20:20. Wine glasses were not taken away from the table even though we asked as was rather clumsy kids, had to ask three times. Food The food was overall mediocre at best, any time I eat at a restaurant and feel I could do significant better at home theres a problem. The lowlights: Scallops - Overcooked and very small (having spent the last couple of weeks in Cornwall I order scallops when on the menu and these were clearly the worst of 4 restaurants I tried them in). Tricolore salad. Let's say swimming in balsamic vinegar. Kids burger. Way over-cooked, dry and rather inedible. Hake - Supposedly served with parmentier potatoes and chorizo, in fact served with an acidic tomato sauce, one piece of potato and large chunks of Chorizo. Wine - Given we are in Cornwall I think the only English Sparkly was Nytimber Classic brut and rather over-priced at £80 a bottle. All the other restaurants we visited offered some of the good quality local options such as Camel Valley. Seems to be lazy wine selection. Location Easily the best bit of the restaurant is its location right behind the beach with some nice views. Summary I would recommend you skip The Cove as its clearly not offering the level of quality to match the bill and until they address the service and food quality its a waste of your money. Instead drive 10 minutes and try some of the restaurants in Falmouth which we found offer excellent food and service (such as Indidog, Pomodoro, Bodega 18)

The menu: The options here are fairly limited, mostly just meat + veg/sides, no burgers or pasta for the kids or anything. My main issue was that you have to order 2-3 courses, there is no option to order just a main or just a starter. This severely limits choice, especially as most of our party didn't really feel like eating 2 courses. The food was good but not worth the cost (£45 for 2 courses). The staff: The staff were okay, one staff member was a bit unfriendly and didn't hand a menu to my mother, she had to ask for one. They repeatedly forgot our drink orders and we had to ask again, and we were only handed one copy of the specials menu for a table of 7. The location: The view from this place is really amazing, and sitting outside before we went in was really nice.

Was there 22nd July 2022 very disappointed menu totally different to what's on line still not been changed new menu is not good at all. Bring back crab fish cakes and cider salad. Won't be going back were local and used this place a lot but no more dissatisfied

We had a gorgeous lunch today at The Cove. My husband and I chose to eat off the set menu,. The food was excellent, I had the tempura prawns to start and the place for main .Both were cooked beautifully and presented well. My husband ordered the salmon to start and the local lobster for main, again there were no complaints, absolutely delicious!! The only criticism we have is it took far too long for tables to be cleared around us. It wasn't particularly busy so couldn't really understand why they weren't cleared sooner. Staff were friendly and hellpfull. We will definitely be back and we recommend you give it a go, we don't think you will be disappointed.

Fantastic position looking out to sea in a beautiful bay, unfortunately the food did not do justice to the view, very average roast lunch and very poor roast potatoes on the Sunday we were there. Wouldn't bother to visit again, very poor value for £55.

Wonderful dinner from the Special Menu this evening. We've not been since 2020 due to the pandemic but even better than before. Quiet ambiance although every table was taken, unobtrusive yet attentive service. Just a relaxed quality restaurant with wonderful food and a great Cornish view!

Food was nice but not value for money.

Incredibly overpriced for what it was! Roast was average at best! Roast potatoes were not crispy at all, in fact I left them. For £45 for 2 courses I do not recommend. So many nice places in the area to go. Underwhelmed…

Absolutely lovely. Restaurant is is a beautiful position, with an amazing view. Food is very well priced, and is top notch nosh! We regularly visit when we can, its worth it! Definitly pre book though.

The food was lovely and the location is amazing, staff are very friendly. The only things that let it down were the time it took to get served and also the kids portion was the same size as the adult portion yet the adult portion was double the price.

Excellent food choice and setting overlooking beautiful Maenporth beach. Food was well presented, we both had the Hake served with seasonal vegetables which was so fresh. A lovely place to eat.

The meal was awful. Mackerel looked straight out of a vacuumed pack and was tepid warm and tasteless. Bigger disappointment to come, the brill, so small hardly any fish just bones and mixed in a bowl of broth with a skin which was and looked disgusting. Still feel queasy just the thought of it. Chef agreed totally unacceptable. After hearing others complain of different meals I decided not to try anything else.

Really disappointed with latest visit here. All courses hit and miss across the three of us who eat. Would no longer recommend sadly.

We hadn't been to the cove for a while the last time we went we wasn't happy with it..this time (new owners I think) it was a lot better they were very caring noticing I was cold they offered me a blanket and putting the radiator closer to me. They explained in detail about the food we both had the crab cakes to start then the Lamb the food was excellent every mouthful couldn't fault it at all. To the Front of house staff to the chefs all well done!! We will definitely go again & recommend them. 👌

Very slow service. Indifferent food, the best of which was a pudding shared by 2 guests. My steak tartare was odd, the crab cake had a hard "shell" and didn't really taste of crab, my partner's fish and chips had more batter than fish. An expensive experience.

Nice, lovely view, very good food, staff pleasant and tried hard (if not completely knowledgeable), but expensive.

The service is very good they seem to know when we required them for sumthing and they where there. The food was cooked properly and looked so good on the plate and the taste was very good well worth the cost. Plus the restaurant it self gives a feel trust in its capability. To top it of the out look of the cove is stuning. My opinion well worth the visit
