Dined here twice this year and both times have been absolutely fantastic. Dan is a great host and chef makes magic happen in the kitchen. Lovely intimate setting makes the experience feel extra special. It’s a must visit for us when we are in Great Yarmouth. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It was really a nice experience. The place is small don't go without booking. The taste was awesome. You can smell it when you enter. You will get good service. You can customize your dish as well.

This is a amazing restaurant .very small and cosy so you need to definitely book .the food is amazing and so is the service .it's not on the main street it's down a back street and is like walking into a secret garden .one word amazing if you get the chance go you will not be disappointed.plus portions are massive ❤️

I never leave reviews but this time I feel like I have to. Daniel was a fantastic host, who made me and my friends feel welcome. I saw a bad review left which mentioned the amount of time the food took to arrive, but this person is forgetting everything is made from scratch by ONE person. The quality of the food is top notch, and they also give you the option to adjust the ingredients to your liking, so if there’s something spicy on the menu you can have the dish without spice, with low, medium or high spice, which is almost unheard of. Truly a wonderful environment, it’s a relatively small but comfortable restaurant, though doesn’t feel crowded. I will definitely be returning. Thanks to Daniel and the chef for a great evening!

Absolutely superb. The food is delicious. Traditional feel to the restaurant. I had the Carbonara, it was amazing. The cream sauce was devine. Great touch putting Chicken in. What a lovely bloke the chef and owner are. The chef is so talented. He could win awards with his food. Thank you.

The courtyard is set in a former house. It's intimate - just seven tables inside, three out. I went with my boyfriend on his recommendation, someone who can't eat wine, dairy and egg going to an Italian... I didn't think it would be possible but he'd spoken to the owner and the chef and honestly no business has ever gone to such lengths to ensure I could have something I enjoyed despite my unsuitability for their normal menu. The team running The Courtyard deserve every accolade going (and have a fair few awards on display!). The chef is game to work with you and the ingredients he has available or can get with planning. It was busy and full when we went - booking recommended, especially if you're like me... Look forward to your time there, it's lovely.

This tiny little restaurant hidden away from the main streets in Grest Yarmouth is lovely. We battled to find it but I’m glad we did. The food was delicious and the staff were great.

Absolutely beautiful food and very friendly staff

The food here is amazing and all cooked fresh to order. The host/owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I have the stuffed peppers and the chicken parmesan both very tasty and filling. This place is well worth a visit. Fyi the Courtyard Mess is an amazing dessert!!!!

It's a little hard to find. Food is freshly made, so it takes a little time, but it is definitely worth waiting for! Also, accommodated vegetarian and no mushrooms request. Best to book as we didn't and sat outside which was a little dirty and I had to wipe my table down. Could have done with a sweep/ wash down.

I have eaten here a fair few times now and had my last birthday meal here too and have had a 10/10 experience every time! The atmosphere and friendliness is perfect especially from the chef and Daniel who always have a lovely conversation with me and my boyfriend when we’re there. I have ordered the spaghetti bolognese every time I have been because it is just so good, my boyfriend has tried a variety of the menu items and has always been more than pleased with his food. The portions are good and the desert items (especially the brownie) are delicious as well. This is by far one of my favourite restaurants, credit to all that work there!

It is a lovely little gem of a place to find, only a small venue. Catering for no more than 16, but you will be wrapped up with the atmosphere and, of course, the lovely Italian food. Booking is highly recommended so as not to avoid disappointment.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. The food was amazing. Chef really friendly. We had guests from Germany with us. Clean plates all round. Back soon!

It's an adorable little restaurant, very cosy. The staff are welcoming and accommodating, we had a 2 year old with us and they don't have a childrens menu but were happy to adjust some of the portions to accommodate her. We went at opening time and had the place to ourselves. Didn't have to wait too long on anything. Would highly recommend!

A personal dining experience. Only 16 dining places available. Small, atmospheric and full of history situated in an old Row house. The food is all cooked freshly to order and was absolutely delicious. We will be back. Tucked away from the main streets in an old row.

After almost a week of being on a boat and eating a pub food we have moored up in Great Yarmouth with a hope of finding some good food. The Courtyard Italian was a gem. It's only 15 min walk from the Yarmouth yacht club moorings. The food and service were amazing. The best pasta I've tried. It's Italian with an incentive twist. My seafood lasagna was light and delicious, it's a very cosy place, also we were lucky to get a table it's best to book in advance. Definitely a place to visit if you like your food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Courtyard, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. When you find a restaurant that is perfect to your needs and every thing comes together there is no need to look further and you could not find better staff wherever you go in my eyes it's perfect would recommend to all outstanding a brilliant mix well done when back in town will make another booking ASAP!

Me and my partner had THE most amazing dining experience at The Courtyard! I’ll firstly start with the atmosphere, it’s fantastic! Such a small intimate diner with the most fantastic cook and such a friendly owner! There are 6 tables inside when we was there tonight and each one of us was all chatting away! The wine recommendation we got from the owner really blew our heads off with the beautiful sweet taste (I’ll attach a photo for anybody interested) And lastly the food… wow. One word, Speechless. Out of this world food! I personally recommend the carbonara!!! Overall I now understand why the reviews are so brilliant for this restaurant. One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had and to top it all off it is so so reasonably priced! I would have paid double for the experience we had tonight. Couldn’t recommend enough , we will definitely be back soon. Thank you very much The Courtyard :)

A tucked away little restaurant which is definitely worth seeking out. The service and atmosphere were great, the food is delicious and all cooked to order. The portions are generous so make sure you leave some room for dessert, would recommend the lemon trifle.

Read some great reviews on this place, I decided to try it out. It was a lovely experience the food is excellent, Kelly and Andy are fantastic they make you feel so comfortable. The decor and atmosphere is really cosy. I will definitely visit the next time I am in the area and definitely recommend.

Nestled in a cozy alley, this charming Italian joint is a hidden gem. Run by a duo, they whip up delicious Italian dishes made fresh to order. What's special is they encourage you to take your time and savor each bite. The owner is incredibly friendly and chatty, making you feel like part of the family. It's like having a homemade Italian feast right here in Norwich. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, welcoming meal experience.

What a gem to find! We live locally in Gorleston and stumbled across this place on Google. Intimate setting offering freshly cooked food. Limited menu - which we like - but will cook any variation for you. Quality ingredients and expert cooking producing delicious dishes. Probably the best meal out we've had for some time. Friendly, attentive service where nothing was too much trouble. And, most importantly, the chairs are so comfortable. Would highly recommend. We will be returning. I cannot fault this place!

Our visit to The Courtyard has been one of the most positive experiences at restaurant we've ever had. A true hidden gem tucked away down an alleyway. The owner Daniel, the chef and kitchen staff are truly passionate about delivering authentic Italian cuisine in small but gorgeous, rustic feeling and relaxing environment. If you're tired of frozen, mass produced food. Over seasoned or undercooked dishes from highstreet chains or struggling businesses this is the place to be. All the dishes are prepared and cooked from fresh for you on order. We had the mushroom linguine and spicy meatballs and both were perfect pasta dishes. We went for the chocolate dessert to finish, which was on another level and all portions were very generous.

Closed - Incorrect time information on google We attended approximately 9.30 and the venue was in complete darkness gates had a padlock on... although google stated it was open? Im unsure the owner understands the meaning of 'Opening Times' - if they dont allow people in after 9pm - then they are closed for business after that time.

Wow! What a hidden treasure this place is. From the get go, the service was brilliant - the owner(I assume) was very welcoming and chatty. The food was just incredible - you won't leave this place hungry. There's also a great selection drinks! And the atmosphere was just lovely. We will definitely be back again soon. I cannot praise this little restaurant enough. It's cosy, intimate, friendly - I could go on! There were 8 of us and we were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the Matre'D. The chef is a star - considering the size of his kitchen, he produced the most fantastic food. So much flavour, a good selection to choose from and very well presented. The recent accolades of Best Restaurant in South of England and Best Family Restaurant at The Italian Awards, along with Finalist Best Pasta Chef are very well deserved. The pride they take in their work is very clear in the quality of their food and service. This is our second visit to this hidden gem. So glad we stumbled across it in the summer. It’s now our family go to for special occasions. This time for my belated birthday dinner. My husband who is not a big pasta fan thoroughly enjoyed his stuffed crust pizza. My daughter is coeliac and I’m lactose intolerant. This usually causes issues when trying to eat out at more generic restaurants. The owner and chef are so knowledgeable, and as everything is cooked from fresh they are able to adjust the majority of dishes according to taste and dietary requirements. This meant we were all able to enjoy our meals without anyone missing out. We’re already planning our next trip. Would highly recommend, especially to anyone who has to follow a gluten free or lactose free diet.

This was a present for our engagement in a Italy. We were so excited for this meal but found the whole experience underwhelming. The antipasti at the start had bland pasta. Service was polite. My main of spaghetti Bolognase was lots of plain pasta with a topping of meat, just tasted of dishwater. At the end of our meal we said we had a £50 voucher only to be told ‘this will ruin the till now’ in quite an irritated tone. We felt incredibly awkward, given our voucher mentioned engagement. Begrudgingly the voucher was taken, we had a small amount to pay and left a tip for service but felt like the whole meal was uncomfortable and underwhelming, we spent the night whispering as we were so close to other tables. A nonchalant comment was made of congratulations after we paid. It felt a little pointless after the previous comments. You can also see into the kitchen with microwave and airfryer.

Food was overpriced although good. Owner was somewhat overbearing and asked us about the tip at the end of the meal.

Been tonight what can I say OMG service was the best I've had, food was amazing. Nothing was to much effort 👌, we asked if we could add something to the dish and it wasn't a problem, everything is cooked fresh and service time was still great. The restaurant was very clean and very well looked after. Felt like I was sitting in Italy 🇮🇹. Look forward to seeing you all again! If I could give more stars I would great little place.

This little Italian is an utter diamond experience! The food was the best Italian food I've had since I was younger, everything cooked fresh and some dishes cooked to your taste and heat tolerance. The lovely guys who own/chef just genuinely lovely people chatting to everyone and making sure everyone is ok. Definitely my new favourite Italian, also a massive tick for me is they are eco having fabric napkins and using actual hand towels instead of disposable makes me love them even more, thanks for a lovely night. Lovely bijou restaurant, extremely good food which is cooked fresh to order so can be ‘tweaked’ to suit your taste. The owner was attentive and knowledgable and nothing was too much trouble. The Chef is first class. Very reasonable prices and good sized portions. We dined with friends and the table is yours for the evening so it’s very relaxed. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.

Amazing little gem. So happy about the find, especially for a last minute group of 9. Staff were attentive and the chefs food was amazing. Would recommend and will be returning. It is a small restuarant so maybe large groups might not work. That being said, our group of 9 were well looked after.

Was served cheap supermarket pitted olives, fresh pasta was literally Tesco egg stir-fry noodles, pizza tasteless - Aldi frozen pizza quality. Service very pleasant but extremely slow, waited 30 min for the bill. Decor and atmosphere really nice, good drinks (gin), cozy outdoor sitting. Not sure where all those 5/5 reviews come from. Maybe chef was on leave.

Amazing food, service and price will be going again

There are not sufficient words in the English language to describe this place. Total hidden gem that you must visit. Every dish cooked fresh so possible to tailor according to taste. Staff were very helpful. Generous portion sizes. Prices are slightly higher than some larger restaurants but worth it for the quality of the food. Booking reccomended as only small but very popular.

Ate here this week and I have to say the restaurant is cute and very cosy, the service was amazing however the food wasn’t great and definitely wasn’t authentic Italian or cooked fresh. Being Italian and having eaten in many many Italian restaurants we love to try little places like this and show our support however, the food was awful. Bruschetta was basically garlic bread (horrible chunks of garlic May I add) with cherry tomatoes (not even sliced) with balsamic vinegar. The arancini tasted so bland no filling ( I know it’s suppose to be vegetarian) however traditionally it would have a filling of some sorts be fried fresh to order. Having had a great view of the kitchen (unfortunately) I saw how it was air fried/ heated. I also saw a lot of packets of fresh super market pasta. I appreciate that they have a very small kitchen and probably use this for speed however the sauces for the bolognaise were so bland and literally had no freshness or flavour to them. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it was basically microwaved to the point the breadcrumbs were soggy and the sauces had congealed and been over heated. (Also had the most random side of plain boiled penne no sauce) Everything is the restaurant is basically served with garlic bread ( I love garlic bread so thought this would be great) it was basically bread with chunks upon chunks of garlic on. The service was so friendly and warm and the place had a real lovely atmosphere however we actually cancelled our booking that we had made for our last night on holiday because I couldn’t face it again. For those thinking why didn’t I speak to the man running the place. I couldn’t as it’s so small (if you’ve been you know) everyone would have overheard and I would have hated to have caused a scene or embarrass the restaurant. This is only my opinion and I hope the restaurant take this as constructive criticism not me being a horrible person.

A gem of a place, tucked away down an alleyway. You are unlikely to stumble across it. But if you want to eat there (booking is strongly advised) it is only tiny but mighty. The Italian inspired food is freshly cooked and tasty. The host/owner is an an amazing host as is the 'mediocre' chef (an in joke). We went there for an anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. It is also very reasonably priced by today's standards. However, if you are a pigeon do not turn up, you are most definitely not welcome!

What a fantastic place to have a meal, extremely welcoming, friendly and the food was off the scale, it was literally all freshly cooked and wow the taste The atmosphere to be honest I thought I was visiting family it was so friendly. Visited while on holiday and delighted with fantastic freshly cooked food and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Don't be put off by the location and definitely make a reservation as it seems very popular and has very limited seating.

What a fantastic little place. It’s very tucked away but there are two car parks close by. The owner and chef were friendly and welcoming and they were happy to tweak any of the dishes, so the vegetarians in the family were well catered for. We were really impressed with the food, the portions are generous and we enjoyed the cosy and chatty atmosphere.Highly recommended.

Very disappointing, I ordered spaghetti bolognaise, the spaghetti seemed more like noodles, it definitely wasn’t durum wheat pasta and the sauce was so, so dry and flavourless. It just sat on top, not served the Italian way. The parmesano was also flavourless- was it parmesano? Salt made no difference. I really questioned the quality of the ingredients. We’re the noodles a ploy not to fill the customer up, so they ordered pudding? I ordered the main, expecting a big bowl of pasta to fill me up. I spent all night feeling vaguely hungry, not sleeping well with an unsatisfied tummy - the image that brought us here looks like real lovely pasta. So it was very disappointing, I needed a good meal before work the next day and a good nights sleep. This restaurant doesn’t look like it knows much about Italian food. We did not get our money’s worth. If your into pudding, then you might be more satisfied with their desserts that people seemed to enjoy, but I didn’t try. The desserts seem to be this restaurant’s passion.

The owner and chef were so friendly and welcoming and squeezed us in despite being fully booked. The food was out of this world and cooked fresh. The sicilian lemon trifle is to die for. We will definately be returning when we are next in Norfolk. This knocks the spots off any other italian i have visited. A beautiful place not to be missed. Everyone should visit when in yarmouth.
