Took ages for a member of staff to come over and take our order. When the food arrived, it was cold. Definitely wouldn’t go back.

The location is fun and It started and ended with the cheerful welcome. Sadly the food was below par. My braised meat had so many little bones that I should warn others of it being a choking or teeth damaging hazard. Both our dishes consisted of reheated small portions of flavourless food. The cocktail was good.

Very understaffed the team were doing their best but there were not enough of them. Food was very under seasoned to the point of bland, just not we have been used too on previous visits.

I bought jerk fries and this is the atrocious portion I have been served as take away.

Service was terrible waited 20 minutes before being able to place a drink order. And I’m not even sure if it was our waiter, no one came over to introduce themselves, we had to get someone’s attention. There’s was stale warm open water on the table before we arrived, the bottles looked grimy so I refused to drink it. Order bottled water instead. Drinks took a while to come. Again we had to get someone’s attention to for our food order. Food was below average, rice n peas was awful. Jerk chicken lacked flavour, bbq wings was not bbq. Again no check backs were done, no one came to our table. I had to ask a random waiter to order a drink, they completely forgot to come back to the table. Went basically the whole meal without a drink. Then to finish off was met with a rude server. Definitely will not be returning.

The food, drinks and staff were amazing! Only downfall is they are always out of curry mutton but they don’t confirm that until after you’ve placed your order

Service was good, one time I ordered a drink but it didn't come, so I had to ask again. A couple of the table felt the food was a but too spicy, which is a personal thing, another felt it was not spicy at all, so asking people what level they like and adapting it would be good

Used to love this place. However last time took 45 mins to get our drinks and tap water, then food arrived approx 20 mins after. We were only given forks as they had no knives? Had to keep chasing staff for even the bill. Overall a disaster.

The food was cold which was asked to be reheated then had to remind the staff of the food which arrived after everyone else had completed their meals. The drinks also arrived after the cold food was served. The staff did not make us feel welcome. We would not return.

Super busy but so much fun for a lunch time booking.

Great experience the host training to be a supervisor was exceptional. I ordered fish unfortunately it had run out 🙄 instead I ordered Jerk Chicken being of Jamaican heritage food was great, great taste and flavour. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if anyone is shopping or just window shopping in central to head hear. I will definitely come back again.

I used to love coming here, however the service has dropped massively. Had to ask 4 times for a can of coke! Massively understaffed however i always find it is. Stop taking customers if you cannot manage the floor. Main host guy was amazing, he was doing his best. Waitresses had way too much attitude. Dont sigh as me because im asking for cutlery to eat my food that ive been waiting 15 mins for. Ended up getting up & helping ourselves

Great food and cocktails, good atmosphere, and good service.

The jerk chicken was amazing and the wings were too but unfortunately it was all served cold because the service was poor. We were charged extra for extra hot sauce in a Caribbean restaurant? I’m sure the chef wouldn’t have us eating our wings dry!? The cocktails were also yummy (when they arrived!)..

Waiter Raul made our evening, convinced us to try an Appleton rum at that end, beautiful. :)

The service was horrible tonight. The waitress was rude and belittled us about how much money we had. When we asked to change a meal because we got it wrong she looked at us like we were stupid for even asking. The service and management before was good. shame it’s gone to this.

All the cocktails are rum based and so tasty!! Small plates hit the spot, I will be returning

Chicken was spicy and so good! Totally agree about the Mai Tai, it was banging. Light above my head a bit bright, don’t think it was a dimmable bulb but good for something for them to work on.

Booked again as we enjoyed the night. Ian was great and got us the table overlooking the courtyard where all the people take pictures that go onto Instagram. Definitely more staff on than previously and food and service was spot on. It’s a bit loud but the busiest place in the Court

Food was average, my dish just had a pile of raw red cabbage on side which was very un appetizing had to order a side of slaw, but time I’d got it I’d finished my very small piece of dried out Mac n Cheese & 2 small strips of pork. Friend had wings said were very tasty but again such small portion for a main. But the Mai Tai cocktails were great, kept us there a bit longer. Staff were friendly apart from one who was very miserable would of been nice to have cracked a smile. Would go back for drinks but not food.

The service was a little slow however we did not expect our drinks to come out with our food. Food order was wrong there was no rice and peas with the jerk chicken bowl. No one came to rectify even though we told 2 people. We ordered drinks and had to wait over 30 minutes for them. After asking for the bill we waited 20minutes to finally get someone’s attention to pay and say the bill was wrong and our food had come wrong. The food was nice but service wasn’t great. Should have listened to previous reviews.

Yeah it was okay there, but I’m not sure they actually use opentable as a booking platform - when we turned up as a group of 10 they had no record of our reservation. Luckily the place was fairly quiet anyway so they found a table for us. The nice man at the door insisted we must have booked for a different Rum Kitchen, and when I showed him it was the correct one he sort of moonwalked away and we didn’t see him again.

Kianna and Stephanie were amazing !! Both very attentive, down to earth and just got things done. I myself am a F&B manager and would have those two work for me any day! Food as a whole was not what you would expect from a Caribbean establishment.

Food didn’t taste fresh and the kitchen was closing as soon as we reached at 9.30 but there was no such warning while we were making the reservation

One of my pet peeves was when tables are sat very close to each other even when there are other tables available and when you pre-booked, here we were squished between two other couples and our tables were all about a foot away from each other which meant you could hear every conversation either side of you and it was hard to have a conversation. I also ordered starters and definitely said 'to start' but then it all came at the same time as our mains which is not what I intended and meant the meal was over very quickly. The food and cocktails themselves were pretty good though, and we even got a discount on cocktails by downloading an app (although this was a very confusing process; you couldn't order food through the app so had to order food and drink separately, and there were loads of steps to register and get your drinks so I think many people would've just given up).

My friend and I booked a table for a dinner date at 9:15pm and we were really looking forward to it. We got there and our reservation wasn’t on their system. To top it off, the host informed us that they were only doing drinks as the kitchen had closed at 9 - this was not flagged up when we were making the booking. We travelled from a distance so I’m sure most people can imagine why this was very disappointing. We’ve previously been to run kitchen and really enjoyed it, food was great and music was a vibe - but this was quite upsetting.

Service - friendly and welcoming Starters - absolutely delicious Main meal - dissapointing, I found tge RK jerk bowl dry and tasteless, a bit of a let down considering thectasty starters. The cocktails were good Overall, would definitely visit again

Excellent food. I am not a lover of spicy food but this was absolutely lovely. I liked everything about the experience except the fact that it was very noisy due to the music - bear in mind the restaurant is located in a very lively spot of London, with many other restaurants surrounding this one and the court on the ground floor.

Food was average but arrived very quickly. Drinks were good. Service was a bit slow. The 50% off food on Monday deal is a great deal though.

Food was served very quickly, got the starters & mains together; Jerk chicken was lukewarm on arrival and didn’t have the authentic Jerk taste or kick I require, when I asked for hot pepper sauce, I was told they have none, very poor for a ‘Caribbean’ restaurant, Doubles were bland, the tastiest item ordered were the salt fish fritters, these I recommend. Service was good; Restaurant was very loud and sociable with a good Reggae music selection. Cocktails were decent. I wouldn’t return here, not as authentic a Caribbean taste as I would of hoped for.

The starters were served at the same time as the main, which was surprising. They were both served before the drinks arrived. The meals lacked the West Indian spices which would be expected ( e.g scotch bonnet peppers)

Underwhelming first visit to the Rum Kitchen. Upon arrival the hostess was engaged in a conversation with another member of staff for several minutes and literally didn't acknowledge my arrival (even to say, "I'll just be a moment"). In fairness, both of the waitresses that subsequently served us were friendly and helpful, but it didn't get the visit off to a good start. The food arrived almost alarmingly quickly, and was tepid in places. Taste-wise it was also pretty unremarkable. On the plus side, there was a good selection of cocktails - we enjoyed the spicy rum punch and the watermelon mojito. Having originally been excited to try a reasonably-priced Caribbean restaurant so close to my office, I left disappointed and with no appetite to return.

Was a busy night but the food and drinks came out quickly, correctly and was cooked to perfection! The DJ was great, the staff friendly and worked hard to make sure everyone had the best experience! Great place!

Cocktails aren’t tasty and music was far to loud. Could not hear person Inwas with. Food was okey!

The restaurant has a great vibe and is in a superb location. I needed to change tables to have more suitable seating to enjoy dining with my elderly father who has hearing aids and the staff were very accommodating in reseating us. I will certainly be going back there again.

The food was pretty good, the main issue we had was that (and as other posters have mentioned) the service was very slow and not particularly attentive. Fortunately we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a major problem, but it does get annoying when you are having to frequently call the waiting staff over. Shame, as the restaurant could be good, but the experience was fairly average so we won't be rushing back.

Went here with a crowd before comedy club 2 x 6 tables. Everyone loved the cocktails especially Mai Tai’s and food, music great and waitresses were so helpful and made sure we knew what we were ordering xx thank you Rum Kitchen will definitely go back .

Booked and confirmed a table through Open Table only to be told on arrival they had no trace of my booking because they didn't use Open Table on Monday. After being found a small table (luckily we had two of our party drop out) we sat waiting over 40 mins for a food order. When it came a lot of the food was cold. Overall a bit rubbish I'm afraid.

I can’t think of a worst restaurant I have been to recently. Really loud awful music and very poor food and service.

A great fun place to grab a bowl of food and a nice cocktail pre theatre! The staff were slightly run off their feet though but it didnt cause us any problem they were all very friendly - shame about no deserts though!

We booked the table using OpenTable for 11am only to find out upon arrival they don't open until 12. Infact there were several people who booked a table for the early morning who like us were turned away. So I can't score them on anything other than being unorganised by not updating the times.

Food is always delicious, cocktails are tasty and ambience is great.

Had an fun evening together with a friend. Great food and yummie cocktails. Attentive and lovely staff. Mixed audience and a really good vibe. We will be back.

Service is really slow, and they made us wait for 15 mins on arrival and claimed we didn’t have a booking(despite having confirmation email!). Also very noisy

Mixed feelings about this place. The atmosphere was great but let down by a few points; 1. Staff, please don't spray table cleaning substance onto the table when others are eating, allowing for its particles to land in people's foods. Spray onto cloth in an area away from food and bring to clean. 2. Food seems to have been prepped and reheated in a microwave; the guys next to us had to complain as it was served cold and it was microwaved again. Ours was equally lukewarm despite it not being super busy. 3. More than happy to pay service charge where it's due. Didn't feel it was deserved but hey, I won't go back again so no need to cause a scene

Way too noisy. I have tried this place a few times and each time you have to shout to get your friend to hear you. Service is also terrible, it took nearly 30 minutes to be served a drink. Couple at the next table had been waiting nearly an hour for their food. Give it a miss there are way better options in this part of London.

100% a must try if you haven't already, good tasting food and atmosphere.

I booked the table for 1730 hours and while we were having drinks at 1845 we were told we have to leave by 1900 hours as table is booked for next group. We had to leave without dinner and had to go to find another place to have dinner. Very embarrassing for me to face my guest, who I invited to dinner and drinks to celebrate her birthday.

Great food, had to wait a bit before we could order food…but when it did arrive it was on point. Overall a great night, dinner and atmosphere.

Great music, yummy food, i highly recommend the jerk chicken loaded fries they were very delicious and the chicken was suculent and quite spicy, the jamrock punch and ting wray cocktails are my personal fave. The service was fairly quick and the restaurant has great decorum and overall good vibes

I was really excited to try this place out but the service was terrible. After being seated no one cared to take our order. We were ignored at every chance. Had to ask for water twice. No apologies received for the delay and poor service.

Very strange experience, came in to eat with my Mum and sister and the lady said they are only taking bookings. So we book on open table as there were plenty of available bookings for that night. We returned and the lady was giving us the cold shoulder and she said they can’t allow us in. If there are available bookings and tables available please what is the issue. However, people of a different race would walk in without a booking and be seated. We fled with no fuss or dispute, it’s really sad to see that someone of Caribbean roots is not accepted in a Caribbean restaurant, yet if I looked different I would of been instantly attended to. As a food blogger and content creator I have never been to rum kitchen before and I will never return!

Food, cocktails and atmosphere were great! The menu was limited for vegetarians however what vegetarian options they did have were delicious. The service is quite slow but the staff were really friendly and helpful. The music can be quite loud so it can be hard to hear eachother. I would recommend booking beforehand as it is usually really busy but it was great that they didn't limit you to a 1.5-2 hour reservation like most places.

If I could give no stars I would. Rude staff who didn’t make us feel welcome, food was cold and tasteless - had clearly been sitting out as it arrived in 3 minutes, drinks were watered down. Bathroom had overflowing sanitary bins and nearly every soap dispenser was out of soap. Awful awful awful awful.

The place is a bit squeezed as they’ve tried to cramp in as many tables as they can I guess to maximise profit which I can’t complain as they managed to accommodate me without booking. Otherwise the service and food was good but the fish I had was a bit bland.

The food, location and ambience were all amazing. The food came quickly but the waitress was very rude and inconsiderate for no reason. There were multiple quippy interactions which culminated in her slamming our drinks on to the table without any reason and spilling a significant portion of them. We received no apology for this. We were also rushed to pay and leave the restaurant after we finished eating.

Service was slow and we had to prompt them. Not jerk chicken that we know and love - all sweet bbq. Asked for hot sauce and got more sweet bbq. Food ok.

Service was kind of slow but good experience overall

Took a long time to get order taken, ordered starters and a main and they were brought to the table all at the same time. The food was not very nice at all. Plantain hard, the goat was tough and chewy, the jackfruit fries has put me off ever eating jackfruit again, the jerk fries were sickly. The fish and jerk chicken with the rice were ok. I think this is more of a drinking place and food is available to soak up the alcohol rather than a restaurant. The staff however were very friendly and accommodating, just a shame the food was not nice and someone made a weird decision to bring all the food at once.

Went to The Rum Kitchen for a catch-up with friends and the vibes in the restaurant were great. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful especially our waitress for the night. Curry goat missed the mark in flavour but the drinks made up for it 10 fold. I would definitely recommend the drinks over the food if coming here, but I would definitely return and try something else on the menu that might be more to my taste.

Night out with friends , had a fantastic night , great cocktails good food and brilliant music played by their live DJ , staff were friendly great atmosphere. Will definitely be back

As always, the food is great at the Rum Kitchen. The service is consistently slow/disorganised but I take that as just being in line with the island vibes. I come back here time and time again, whether you order the jerk chicken, curry mutton or the red snapper it is always great food which leaves you feeling happy.

Food was great! Service by Nevda was brilliant! Music was great but too loud for a Monday early evening- as we were shouting to talk over it. Manager turned it down. Brilliant.

The restaurant closed as I arrived with my mum for her birthday. Apparently there was a fire but I never got no prior warning of the cancellation so was left standing outside the restaurant with no other alternative and a spoilt birthday meal. I have still yet to receive an apology I anything from the restaurant which is a joke

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had the most lovely night. The atmosphere was great and the food tasted fantastic. The restaurant was very busy especially considering it was a Tuesday night, and this slightly impacted the service. But staff were still very helpful and friendly, and overall we had a fantastic night

Terrible service, waited ages for someone to come over to get my order and then had to get up from table few times as there was no staff around. I recon school kids need to be trained a bit more before they being put in front of the house...
