well i never! after being a loyal customer here for 37 plus years, i've got to say, i won't be going into year 38. having moved out of Salford around 4 years ago, i often make, (or used to!), make the hour long round trip, (weekly or twice weekly), to the TC, mainly for the quality of that chunky REAL chicken, that you couldn't find anywhere else in Salford. last night, i made the same round trip, dished up when i got home, I was greeted with at best, 5 pieces of low quality processed mush parading as chicken. the prices have risen massively, the quality has dropped massively, it's upsetting. plus i think they're skimping on their spices too 😞 as a vindaloo / Phal lover, i used to look forward to a Japanese Flag on a Sunday, to clear out ones bowels! not today though! it's a sad day for Salford 😞

I only went in for a takeaway but it was a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. I had a drink whilst waiting and chatting to staff. The food was excellent.

Service was good but only a couple of tables to serve. Not one of my favourite Indian restaurants food was Just ok. And could have been served hotter and could do with Something on the table to keep it hot. Like in many other Indian restaurants.

Absolutely brilliant my order came cold rang them and they sent a freshly made order within 15 minutes food was bang on

If I could rate this 0 star I would , I should of gone off the previous reviews and not gone but sometimes we all know reviews can be over exaggerated but nope they where correct , and £100 later after the food was bland , lamb was fatty, the staff looked like something out of walking dead and didn’t have a clue what day it was, and was not interested when we complained shrugged it off basically what they wanted to say was so what, definitely won’t be going again.

The curry was OK. But the starters were absolutely terrible and when we politely asked to have them checked as the prawns tasted terrible, they went straight onto defensive mode - ‘we’ve never had any complaints over 15 years he said . Instantly made it so awkward. He then said he would remove 1 / 2 from the bill and we just accepted this as it was so awkward… but stay away from this one guys … bad quality food . Bad customer service.. on the plus side the toilet was clean but apart from that I wouldn’t feed the food to my dog

Disgusting behaviour we ordered our food chips were hard but my lamb bjuna arrived I got chicken which I'm in can't eat rang and they said what do you us to do and hung up arrogance disgusting service DONT USE THIS PLACE

Ordered food via app waited 90 minutes only to be told the order had been cancelled..... called the restaurant only to be told that the problem is with the delivery agent (uber) not impressed at all

Always lovely food - Service by "Paul" and his young assistant Faz is efficient and pleasant on every visit. Bengal's Favourite Curry is our go to fish dish - Excellent curry, full of flavour and really good portions.

Best place around for a good meal.

We use to dine here all the time, only curry house we went to. We went yesterday an just didn't get the same feel to it. The staff seemed miserable, like they didn't want to serve us, like it was too much effort just to split our bill over 2. We didnt get a warm welcoming off the young male who took our order, he definitely needs to work on his customer service skills. We got stuck on the table right next to the door, everyone walking in on us to collect their takeaways, door opening making our food cold...didnt feel comfortable or private at all, that use to be the table you waited at to be seated. We were made to feel bad cause we needed a high chair but cause they had a big party in they were prioritising them as they 'needed' it...so when I said no were using it, we got a smug look and then kept hearing other waiters moaning together that we weren't using it..we was using it trying to my son to eat.. in the end we told them to take it and then they didn't take it! We weren't offered refills for our drinks, my glass was just taken.. really winds me up when places have parties in, so other smaller tables get the bad treatment. Most of the food was nice, average...one of the curries was too greasy to eat. I dont think il be back, customer service skills need working on.

Poor service, lower than average food portions, food wasn't hot when it arrived and food quality isn't great. It took a very long time to get a drinks probably 25mins after arriving. Toilets are scruffy Im not usually one to write a review anywhere, this place is disapointing especially when comparing it to alternative Indian restaurants in the area

Really enjoyed our dinner here one evening! It was so affordable too! I cannot get over £3.50 for a large glass of wine! It was very tasty and enjoyable with friendly staff! Thank you, will be back!!!

What has happened to this once excellent Indian restaurant? We have been visiting the Cottage Tandoori for many years and have generally found it to be excellent. My sister in law visits regularly as she is Coeliac and so has to have gluten free food and this restaurant has always obliged. When we visited on 9th April 2022, as a group of 4, my sister in law, as always, made it clear that her order of Chicken Biriani had to be gluten free. The waiter did write it down but clearly didn't understand, and so to be sure my sister in law also told the manager (owner?). The two starters for me and brother in law arrived relatively quickly. I was still eating my starter after my brother in law had finished his . As u was still eating a waiter reached across me to take the plate of my brother in law, basic bad manners and poor form. The waiter then said sarcastically to me "take your time, we are open until late". I was too shocked by his out of order attitude to respond. We then endured a 35 minute wait for our main courses, during which a waiter did apologise but saying it was because they were busy with takeaways (the restaurant was only about a third full). The rest of the Neal was uneventful. However, not long after arriving home, 3 of the four of us were very ill with bad stomachs. My sister in law, in particular, was extremely ill. For the uninitiated, eating Gluten can cause Coeliacs to be extremely ill and can eventually lead to cancer. My sister in law phoned the restaurant the next day to tell them what had happened. They were not interested. This has been our last visit to this establishment.

Horrendous customer service. TWO HOURS for our main meal. Prawns were rubbery and tasteless. Told two members of staff, neither of them could even muster a reply. The girl behind the bar (only young) but goodness me she needs to learn some manners. Taking on more than they can handle, happy to take all the orders for just eat etc but remember you're a restaurant first!

We used to love coming here I don't know if it's changed hands but we had to ask them for a drink as we wernt asked if we wanted one there was a young girl who looked like she couldn't be bothered then we waited another twenty minutes to watch them serve a 20+ table and we were left to twiddle our thumbs in the end we left you should you should focus your attention on everyone not just one table it's bad customer service

Pathetic service. We waited over an hour and half for a delivery, and the food still hadn’t even been made. So unprofessional. Complete greed to keep taking orders and money when you can’t fulfil existing orders. Stop letting customers down and be better at business. Look after your customers or they will simply never use your restaurant again.

Looking forward to a nice curry so thought we'd give the place a go. Sorry I bothered. The service was disgraceful. Waited an hour for a starter? Only 5 x people plus us in the place? Couldn't even give a glass of water without being asked over and over again! Won't be seeing my money again. Not surprised there was little people in with so much choice around. You'd think they'd look after their customers 🤔

avoid this place and certainly dont even think about parking in the carpark as you will more than likely get a parking ticket from the Civil Parking enforcement scum ! even if you enter your registration and provide evidence of eating here ! you have been warned !

Ordered takeaway at 18.38 was told up to up to 1hr recalled at 20.19 said was busy but 15mins would be there. arrived 21.00 said at door was made fresh but everything had to be microwave as stone cold. not best impressed

Five stars If you eat in! Zero stars if you pay for delivery and order at 638pm and it comes at 9pm and you are told its been totally re-made only for it to be cold. Wont be eating in or out from this restaurant ever again

Ordered a delivery. With every mouthful of the main I found something which just shouldn't be in there. A piece of plastic film (assuming from whatever packet they pulled it out of, rock solid pieces of vegetable and meat that was just rank. The meat was either chewy or so tough that it was nauseating. Been ordering from here for a long time. Never again.

I have ordered on the menu, a garlic chicken, which it says that it is a chicken tikka cooked in a medium garlic sauce, which I had around a week ago and it was delicious. Unfortunately it wasn't a chicken cooked in a medium sauce, but it was a spice and very hot dish, which it wasn't previously served. When tried to explain to staff in a particular male (Paul) staff, he was very rude, using in an inappropriate manners and language. The management excuse was it's a different chef at weekend. The menu supposed to taste virtually the same throughout the year. That male (Paul) member of staff should learn basic skills how to communicate with his customers with a legitimate observation.

Slow service...really slow. Restaurant not busy but waiting for ages for food. Not offered drinks..had to ask...food price seemed good until food came and pretty much got half sized portions! No spice to the madrass..not much flavour either..reminded me of a tin of tomato soup. Everything else was bland..chips were okay! Car park is full of glass, broken bottles and rubbish...proper dump this place, wouldn't go again if it was free!

Have been several times over last few years. Recently visited last month for a family meal for our Son's 21st birthday. Great food and service, let us choose our own table. Friendly staff and little extra touches, such as opening and holding the door as you leave. Best Indian restaurant in Walkden

I had heard some good things about this restaurant, but was appalled by the food quality and service we only had starters and left didn't even bother with mains

The curry was ok but nothing special. The rice and nan bread were lukewarm, and although I didn't order any chutneys they arrived on the table so I used them only to find out afterwards that they were going to be charged. In the interest of good service, if you place something on the table with the food that's ordered tell your customer they'll be charged.

Havent been in for along time, but went back recently. Service was good, but sadly food was of a low standard. Didnt enjoy our meals

Came here last night at 19.40, by 20.50, all we had was a starter and 1 drink each, bearing in mind there was only 4 of us. One person serving the whole of the restaurant, and one chef. Customer service was very poor. Took half an hour for our drinks order to arrive. Never again.

Thought the food was really nice from the Tandoori cottage, we just waited a little too long for the food in my opinion. In fairness we was seated for 13 people, so i can understand to some respect. Thought the staff where great, food was good for a curry house. Only fault was the time it took for all the food to come, and just the one moody waiter, but everyone has an off day. If you're after a takeaway or a sit down meal, i would give it a try if you've never been.

I have come here a few times now as it’s one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester. Excellent service and absolutely stunning food. It always has a very relaxed atmosphere and is definitely a surprise when you first walk inside with a gorgeous interior with a homely feel :)

Hairs in food, had to send a dish back and it came back with the hair still in it !!! I've never had a chicken kebab starter deep fried before, it was awful. Service was shocking. Place was empty and now I know why. I would never ever go back.
