Nice stop off on the way home. Lovely staff, nice cakes.

We received a voucher as a Christmas present and decided to use it on a High Tea. We booked a time for the tea as the website recommends booking in advance. The whole experience from being greeted by a lovely young lady and being made to feel so welcome right through to paying the bill at the end was lovely. The high tea itself was absolutely delicious, the sandwiches so fresh, the savouries warm with the most delightful pastry and the cakes were lovely. I would definitely recommend this place , it suits all palates and we will most certainly be returning .

A great place to stop for lunch with the opportunity to sit inside or outside weather permitting. There is ample car parking and they offer an extensive menu for food and drinks all of which is beautifully prepared and served at your table. The staff are kind and helpful and the prices are very reasonable for the high standard of food on offer. Oh and there's also a shop for extra delights!

So glad this has reopened after the fire in January. The staff are lovely and the food is great too!

Had a lovely breakfast here this morning with my mum. Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for what you get. Lovely atmosphere and staff very friendly and smiley. We'll definitely be back, well worth the drive out.

Food was mostly nicely cooked, but lucking flavour and one of the eggs of the Benedikt were snotty. Friendly service.

Really enjoyable lunch. Daily special pod beef and onion pie was rich and very tasty. The daily quiche with side salad also very good. Perfect recovery after hiking about the moors. Prompt service for a well organised team of servers.

My husband and l came here for a high tea for my birthday, it was fabulous, well presented and eve tasty, couldn’t eat it all but took some home. Very good value for the high tea. I would thoroughly recommend it, cleanliness, lovely helpful staff, and above all good choices and good prices. Well done to you all

Good place to go for food, 4 people, 4 mains, 2 desserts, 4 drinks (1 alcohol) £80. Always busy at meal times, it's best to reserve ahead to avoid any disappointment.

We had the Staffordshire Oatcakes with sausage and cheese. Came with a healthy salad the guilt was offset

Turned up without reservation on a busy sunday morning but was able to phrase the farm shop ahead of being seated. Great service and wonderful food, was a tough choice from a great looking menu.

My first time here. Absolutely amazing place! Food was spot on and service top of the top! I was with my friend and our little ones which obviously made some mess 😉 lady helped us cleaning and nothing was too much trouble for them! Thank you a lot and see you soon!

Tasty soup, bread, butter and tea. Staff very friendly. Just dropped in and were impressed.

We had some sandwiches from here the other day to go and they were really good. I had the ham and cheese and it actually had thick (real ham) which was very good! (some cafes have the super thin deli ham, this has real thick cut ham). Our chips were stale, which wasn't great, but the sandwiches were very good. It is a bit pricier than some other places, but the quality was good and we would definitely eat here again.

One of the best Christmas dinners I have had from a restaurant and the service was excellent.

I was very pleased with my meal in this bright and friendly cafe . Food was tasty and the coffee was hot , the lemon cheesecake could have had a little more zing but was still delicious and I would like to see more vegan and vegetarian options. I do find eating out poor value generally but here the portion was good and well presented . Well done to the team .I live in nearby Leek.

We went today for Birthday celebration lunch,as usual we were given a warm welcome, exceptional choice of high quality food, exceptional staff and the added bonus which was sheer genius was the wonderful desert of warm chocolate cake and Cauldron Custard (mint)mmmm in our opinion was one of the best deserts ever 😋

A really enjoyable place to visit any time of the day. We stayed nearby just for a couple of days and had breakfast here twice and lunch and it was just faultless. We came from London and the prices were comparable to the south, food is high quality and of the perfect portion sizes. Coffee very good. I didn't buy anything from the shop but they had a vast range of excellent jams, chutneys and sauces available. The presentation and cleanliness is exceptional, including the toilets, and the staff really bring everything together. Very friendly and attentive, we even returned from a walk in the Peak District at 4:10pm and they still happily welcomed us in and served us food despite closing at 4:30pm! This would be unheard of in many kitchens so close to closing, so big appreciation to you guys. We would definitely visit again if staying nearby or driving through on another occasion :) Thank you!

First visit. Very spacious and clean. Service was good, a little slow but the restaurant was extremely busy and the waiting was worth it for the freshly cooked f.ood

Cracking spot. We were staying just down the road in the Colourmill Cottage and decided to pop in for breakfast. There is a very large car park and plenty of seats inside. We had Eggs Benedict, Eggs and avo. The kids had pancakes. The service was excellent, and we were not waiting long. Food was spot on and the coffee was good ☕ There is a small shop selling local produce and gifts. Great spot we will be back.

This has become a must-visit stop when we head south. It's a convenient hour away for us and makes a good breakfast meaning we don't have to.

Called in today on out way to Alton towers waterpark got our son’s birthday. Ordered American pancakes, came out so hard they snapped when I tried to cut them. I asked to swap them for a small breakfast, half an hour later no breakfast, had to cancel the order as it made us late, lady on the till was so rude, had such a bad attitude, said when I sent the pancakes back I went to the back of the line, she was very confrontational and didn’t seem at all sorry. Very disappointing! My son also had pancakes, not sure what recipe they were using but they looked nothing like pancakes!

Good knowledge of vegan options (although some hesitation, hence not giving 5 stars). Really lovely spot and venue. Food and drinks all great.

Such a pleasant place to go, excellent service, proper leaf tea, good scone 5star plus.

First time at the café, the young staff are lovely and the place is great. But you need to put some bacon on the bacon buttie. We've never seen two pieces of bacon that small, added together it still didn't make a full rasher.Together they only covered half the bap, when you'd removed the fat it became just a bap. I did tell one of the girls to pass it on to the kitchen. Also ask if the customer wants butter as the bread was dry. If we go again we will have the sausage bap as you get two full sausages cut in half and they cover all the bread. Bit disappointed but we will give it another go for a breakfast as a really nice place.

Lekker vers gemaakt ontbijtje. Niet het gezellige kleine authentieke barretje, maar een eerder groter etablissement. Doch het menu is vrij uitgebreid en alles zag er lekker uit. Netjes en vriendelijk personeel. Geen lange wachttijden. Zeker een aanrader. Er is een klein winkeltje aan, maar daar zie ik de meerwaarde niet van in.

The Cottage Kitchen is now on my "Do NOT miss" list. Their attention to detail is first class and the food is amazing. They even provided takeaway boxes for what you cannot eat. First class, thank you.

Despite the rain we popped in here for a snack and we were not disappointed. We had a ham and caramelised onion and Chutney sandwich and it was massive and it fed both of us, also we had a bowl of proper big chips. After a couple of steaming hot coffee’s we had a look in the shop which is well stocked. We will be visiting again soon and is well place between leek and Ashbourne. All in all inc a bag of fudge from the shop it it was £21.00 Highly recommended.

Very busy eatery, so it is best to book. A good menu with plenty of choices. I was part of a group of 10 having a brunch to celebrate my sons 40th. Everyone one's meal turned at the same time. It was pipping hot and all orders were full and correct. Service was excellent. Will certainly go again . Place was buzzing with a great atmosphere well worth a visit.

Came here for high tea as part of a hen do celebration. I was completely delighted by the quality of the gluten free afternoon tea which was large, beautifully presented and delicious. It was also really good value, and the staff were friendly and kind. Highly recommend.

Great place for lunch or just a tea and scone. Excellent staff who work so hard to keep everyone happy. We will be going again for a day out.

Decided to eat here as opposed to one of the larger local farm shops, and glad we did as the menu offered a far better range of veggie and vegan options. The portions were very generous and the quality of food excellent. The attached photos are of the hand cooked chips and Staffordshire Oak cakes with beans, mushrooms and vegan cheese. We highly recommend stopping here as the friendly and helpful staff made this a very positive and enjoyable stop.

Excellent place to stop for breakfast before a long day in Alton Towers. Another trip to AT, another stop at cottage kitchen. Unfortunately, my expectation of a delicious breakfast snack was dented. Ordered a sausage muffin and a bacon muffin, after an extremely long wait I enquire where our food was as 2 tables that ordered after us had theirs, I was told were next, the muffins arrived with the sorryist looking bacon and sausage which had been grilles to death, the baco was edible if not sparse but could only manage half the sausage. At £5 each it was more than disappointing. To be fair I wasn't charged for the sausage but I expected so much more. I hope this is just a blip.

The breakfast menu is very good. Shakshuka was very good, if you like mild spices for breakfast I can recommend it. The Eggs Benedict was also very tasty. Had a bit of the wife's! I also shared a bit of American pancakes, very fluffy and tasty, but as always I wouldn't manage a whole plate. For a Monday morning it was quite a good steady trade. Staff were good. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Prices are ok, but with inflation as it is, it's getting harder to comment. The attached gift shop is a bit different, that is expensive, and yet I was tempted by the pickles. And I succumbed!

Very nice quaint restaurant. The food was very fresh and the staff were really friendly. It's a nice atmosphere with timber beams and plenty of windows looking out with beautiful views.

Makes a change not to be ripped off and receive a proper portion size on a plate. Really impressed with the food and presentation on this, a third visit. Restaurant was full on a Sunday afternoon so sat outside in the drizzle but wasn't forgotten about. The two mushroom and goats cheese paninis were scrumptious served with fat, home cooked, hand cut chips, coleslaw and a healthy portion of side salad. Coffee was a good blend and the pot of tea had enough for two cups. Very good value for £27 all in, compared to other restaurants of late, the portion size was suitable and we didn't leave still feeling hungry. Nice little shop selling Country Cottage produce and was very tempted to buy some lemon curd. I can see why it has a good following and high rating. Plenty of returning customers and I will be back again soon.

Large cafe with shop and plenty of parking. Had no problem getting a table. Pleasant friendly service and tasty fresh food. Only dropped a mark because of the open plan kitchen and the banging of cups and plates in an airy room made it less of a relaxing visit but more of a quick eat and run .

Whether you're on the road or venturing out from your holiday cottage, the Cottage Kitchen Country Cafe is worth a visit. This is the kind of place where you can grab a takeaway coffee and a slice of cake or settle down to a hot plate of food or even high tea with tasty sandwiches served on one of those multi-storey fancy trays. Our party couldn't decide what to choose; some of us went for hot meals, oatcakes, paninis and the like. Others went for warm puddings or cream teas. The polite and attentive staff got our orders to the table simultaneously, and made sure we had everything we needed. They've got a decent little foody gift shop too, and there's plenty of parking. There's step-free access too. Recommended.

First visit en route to visit family at Ashborne. Will visit again. Very friendly staff and l love your little shop, couldn't help resist a couple of purchases. How long have you been open?

Popped in for the first time for a bite to eat, what an absolute gem of a place, we had the chicken leak and potato pie with chips and roasted vegetables, lovely cooked food, and might I say by far the best chips I've ever tasted, we have to go up that way next week, will definitely be returning, we'll have all the kids next time, well worth a visit 😋

Lovely place to meet up for a chat and a bite to eat. All the food is freshly prepared and delicious. Well-priced too. The staff are lovely and the little shop is good to pick-up some tasty treats. We go a lot and have never been disappointed. Definitely recommend booking a table as quite a few people were waiting when we were there.
