The Corner House Restaurant in Taunton Deane

The food was boasted as the best roast dinner in town. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The food was bland seasoning was missing. The amount of food was way over the top. I can eat a lot, but the lack of season and the amount I called it a day after the starter and the mian. Shame. I was really looking forward to sticking toffee pudding if it was on the menu. It has the potential to do well. But must look at what they are serving up and get the flavour into the food. Season and taste the food. When being led into the dining room, we had a member of staff pushing through us to get out. Didn't find the staff very attentive at all. Price was OK about what I would expect to pay for a meal out.

Great Sunday lunch. The roast beef was excellent and it came with several different vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.

Absolutely amazing Sunday roast!! Well worth the price and when I got home I wanted to go back and get another 😅 100% recommend, we got there for the 6pm and the food was gorgeous. The only thing I would like is to remove the sliced carrot, keep the long carrot (roasted) and have more roast potatoes 😊.

Pleasant small hotel conveniently situated in Taunton. Service and breakfast were good. I found it noisy and was disturbed by other residents late at night.

Had a lovely evening at the restaurant last evening, party of 6 we all had 3 courses, The food was great , service just right not rushed, plenty of time between courses, waiting staff were spot on.

Booked in for dinner with slight reservation as some of the reviews did not compliment the venue, however we could not fault anything, 3 different starters & three different mains dishes all cooked, presented and served to perfection. There is also a splendid wine list to accommodate every palate, we will certainly be back.

I recently had the misfortune to be invited here for dinner with some visiting family. Although the menu was not extensive it all sounded quite good. For a small hotel I was not expecting a huge menu, so that was fine. But, given the prices which were being charged, I did expect a good level of food. The crab and gruyere cheese tartlet sounded like a good option as a starter. I was dismayed when it first arrived as it was very small. It was only brown meat and the cheese was very difficult to find. Garnished with some leaves and some pointless green dribble around the plate these few meagre mouthfuls left a lot to be desired. The exotic mushroom, chestnut and spinach Pithivier would have made anyone from Pithivier cringe. Cheap puff paste which was not cooked properly, filled with a wishy washy under-seasoned filling. I defy anyone to find chestnut flavour in this. Served with a smear of pureed squash and very under-cooked greens ( again ,no seasoning ). At £17 this was not even close to good value. The dessert was the thinnest apple tart I have ever seen in my life, at least the sorbet served with it hadn't been mucked up. Overall, a very very poor experience, if you're going to charge decent money for food at least try and serve food which is memorable. Whoever was cooking should hang their head in shame, not wonder the room was so quiet.( it was a Saturday night !) This place could be buzzing but it needs a complete re-think and someone needs to sit down and actually look at what is being served. If you're thinking of trying them out, don't bother.

Lovely Valentines meal. Tables set out beautifully. Staff really helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. Never had a bad meal there.

It is a bit late posting as I have been communicating with management and they are doing nothing about it . My family attended Christmas dinner at £75 a head so you expect it to be good but if I could give it a 0 I would . Staff were trying to serve the next course without even clearing away dirty plates we had in front of us . We had two little bowls of veg for 15 people and the turkey was compressed meat . The Christmas pudding was just a cheap loaf like thing from bookers . Management do not want to know , they have our money and they always seem to be in the right . I was under the impression that customers were always right but not in this case . Definitely be giving this place a wide birth as we have not been together for over two years and it was meant to be a celebration but the corner house ruined it .

We spent a weekend there so we could do some yoga classes in Sangha house. It was a very nice experience the room was great. Breakfast was delicious and the staff where very friendly. If we come again to Taunton we would stay again. And the price was very reasonable. Thank you Verena
