A great pint of Guinness ! Was a difficult find in Manchester but they know how to make a good pour ! 2024 update: Visited again this weekend, still not changed, personally I think it’s the best Guinness in Manchester.

I found myself on my own pretty drunk after night out with a broken Uber app, and the bouncers Rick and Ryan were SO lovely to me, kept me safe and helped me get my uber app working and were chatting to me for SO long making sure I didn’t go off alone. Had a fantastic night going in for the comedy set, which I'd say the most new interesting comedy night I've been to in some time, if comedy is for you, just go. I went on a Wednesday but it is 7 nights a week. I was mainly drinking Guinness at around £6 per pint which for the area is what is to be expected. I was super surprised by the quality of their Guinness, really knocked anyone nearby out of the water. If you're like me and Guinness is your thing it's simply a must-visit bar Happy hour looked to be 2 for £8 on pints of corona which is pretty solid for Stevenson square/northern quarter (I only saw this on a sign downstairs so may not be the case) I'll need to go back and try some other comedy nights more drinks or food that I've seen posted. I'd say the corner boy is a good place for a date, going with your mates or anything in between, really friendly, warm, cozy, candles and good music.

This was the worst excuse for an Irish pub I have ever experienced - other than the word “Craic” above the bar what the is Irish about this place - they don’t even sell Taytos for gods sake - every Irish pub sells Taytos. We didn’t hear one Irish sounding tune no Irish staff - rubbish.

This is a review of the Wednesday night improv evening. The area in the bar basement is very cool with a eclectic crowd. You never quite know what you'll get on Wednesdays, but I really enjoyed our evening there. The bar above was being refurbished so the drink selection was dire. Pub looked ok but shocking toilets without a lock on the door and utterly disgusting, not seen toilets this bad since I've been abroad in a McDonald's in Tenerife 22 years ago, two women in our group saw them and refused to use them and I don't blame them shocking for somewhere that seems to serve food during the day 😕

It was on the final night of my honeymoon when my wife and I stopped in at the Corner Boy. We had been traveling all day, we were beat, and searching for a cold pint & bite to eat being an early morning flight. Wow, the good people here truly went above and beyond to take care of a couple Yanks from across the Pond. Thank you for everything. Someday, we hope to very happily return!

This place is so poorly managed it's unbelievable Saturday night. 1 member of staff behind the about a 15 min wait for drinks. They hand 8 beers on tap, 6 of which were off. The remaining 2 where flat and tasted weirdly off like they were bottom of the barrel. Several other people also returned there pints to the bar claiming the same reason.Lemonade/coke etc were also completely flat. The only thing saving the experience was the cost low light atmosphere, until the guy who I'm assuming was the manager with his cap backward looking all cool, decided to crank the music up as loud as he could. piercing is the only way I could describe it. A large amount of people left from there on including ourselves . The only thing stopping me from a one star review is the girl behind the bar was visibly stressed but was kind despite everything going wrong and it wasn't here fault, it was whoever is supposed to be the "manager"

There was no stock in the fridges/shelves. This poor bar is in dire strait of a makeover, and i can imagine it will not be open for much longer. Staff were all lovely but told us 6 changing suppliers, and that was the reason for no stock. No Guinness in the tap, drank dry🙈 This does not happen to a well run bar, and clearly, the owners do not care about their poor employees, which were all great people. Id like to go back in a couple of months and see if its been revamped or closed down completely.

Just shy of £20 for 2 drinks and 2 shots....thought it Was ok until the smack heads that sit outside drinking cans on the pubs tables blowing kisses to my girlfriend through the window caused an issue. My girlfriend sufferers from major anxiety and PTSD so was very uncomfortable, i asked them to stop and almost turned into a fight. Staff should move crack heads like that away from the premises, i know northern quarter you can expect to see druggies around but not sat at the pubs tables abusing customers.....woman shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable when out trying to relax. The place seemed very outdated, although I realise that may be the aesthetic they are trying to achieve, but it wasn’t for me! Very basic inside, no exceptional service and limited seating all put together for a poor experience. I also got the vibe it was more for locals than people visiting the city.

Called in for a quick drink while out in Manchester, "quirky" Northern Quarter Irish bar, with for some reason a 1960's American cinema / diner style decor. Went in because it was quiet , Ordered a pint of ipa and a bottle of cider , cost 11 quid odd but that's probably standard for NQ. Beer was OK . Wouldn't really be tempted to return but then we are probably not the right demographic they are aiming for

Me and a few girls went for breakfast here after a brilliant night in Manchester. The place was lovely and some of the staff was really nice, 3 of us ordered poached egg on toast. 1 cooked breakfast. The poached egg was hard and bread was dry. So we nicely brought it to there attention and was happy to swop, but yet again the eggs were hard and dry toast. They offered to make again but we had a train to catch. When we asked for the bill we thought it was abit expensive and sure we was being over charged. We asked for a menu again to check the price against the bill. And they had added a extra £10 to our bill. We was so mad without any explanation they just said they have amended it. Imagine if we had left a tip they would of got a fair bit of extra money from us. I don't know if the pray on people after a night out. So double check bill against menu.

Set nicely on Stevenson Square we wanted to give this place a try. Having been there now I don’t think we will be going back. It is ostensibly an Irish bar but I’m not sure why this is the case – I couldn’t see anything about it that was Irish! True, it serves Guinness which was pretty good but quite a short measure I’m afraid. The larger was put into a glass straight from the dishwasher so it was not very cold at all. The lighting is very bright and we had to move to get somewhere a bit more comfortable. The music when we were in there was 80s disco and certainly, again, had nothing Irish about it.

From a cracking pint of Guiness to very good Irish gins this bar ticks all the boxes and if you close your eyes and listen to the music you could be easily across the water. The staff are friendly and attentive and the pub comfortable. One slight disappoinyment is the price of the Guiness which obviously merits a 50% price rice over its equivalent in Belfast !

The staff are so pleasant and friendly, food was awesome and the cocktails and wine were fab and reasonably priced, too. The DJ was great! She was part of the reason we didn't want to leave because there was such a brilliant mix of tunes that kept us dancing all night. Went here last night just for a drink. Great atmosphere but when I requested a song I was told "I don't play that kind of music" , "I don't play Beyonce", I don't play RnB, I don't play..etc etc. Having decided on a song he would play I thought, fair enough. Well I waited and I waited and when I asked him when he would be playing it he said "Oh I'm not gonna bother now" !! When I used to DJ, I would play certain suggestions from the punters (unless of course it was so way off the vibe of the place that you couldn't ) Someone else asked him for several songs to which he flatly refused. He did state that he played what he wanted to...surely that's not right? He then told me he usually played acid house gigs...well that explains the lack of music knowledge and customer service. Nice bar, great atmosphere, good staff but spoilt by the arrogance of the DJ I'm afraid, although to be fair he did play some good songs in the end...maybe a sign stating"We don't do requests" needs to be displayed to save him having to interact with the customers ! Will I be back? Probably, to give it another try cos it was a good bar.
