The Corbet Arms in Shropshire

We booked a table for 7 adults for Sunday lunch. Service was prompt ( but not rushed) friendly and efficient. We mostly ordered something different.. lamb, beef and turkey. Food served on hot plates ( I like that) Plenty of fresh vegetables and roast potatoes. Desserts... all but two of the party had the sticky toffee pudding, not a sound was spoken whilst they demolished it. The cheese and biscuit option ( £4 supplement and well worth that) was fantastic. Good selection of cheeses, grapes celery and a fab ( I think fig) chutney. We were so impressed with the staff, very well managed considering how busy they were. Can't wait to return

Fabulous reasonably priced food. Had chicken wrap, was amazing and came with generous fresh side salad and the best chips I have had in a long time.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful area. Clean rooms, friendly staff. My only issue was the walls are thin and could hear people talking in next room. (I am noise sensitive though) But it was quiet enough to sleep at night.

What a great find! Lovely pub with beautiful rooms and fabulous breakfast. Such a beautiful setting. The staff are lovely and we are looking forward to a return trip in Summer.

Mediocre and somewhat overpriced. Not bad but not value for money.

We went for a Christmas Meal 5 of us in total one in a wheelchair. Access was easy with a ramp into the building. Staff had reserved a suitable table ( we had pre booked which I think is essential) which gave easy positioning of the chair. It was busy but not very busy. We quickly ordered food and drinks and we did not really have to wait a long time for either. Food was a good portion with veg served separately which I like to see. There was a time limit on the table and we had three courses with drinks and did not feel rushed. Very enjoyable meal.

Very poor service. Didn’t bring all the food ordered. Very slow. No steak knives bought out and had to ask. Drinks delayed. Was not that busy. Considered desert but no one came back to ask. Food was good but whole experience negative.

We visited here for a Boxing Day lunch with family. The food overall was good however it was a little cold but the reason I can only give this a 3 star review is the service. The service was a little slow and after a slight mix up with the order, nobody came back to our table and so we had to go to the bar to ask for sauces etc, and I just felt a little like we were an inconvenience, having the flag someone down for more drinks and things too. The food was nice here and I think reasonably priced, but I don’t think the portions were great and with the meal being a little cold, I don’t think we would return quickly, over other places we have been. Photos of starters and mains, no dessert because we felt there wasn’t a great option.

Had a family pre Xmas meal booked. Table was confirmed as booked till 6pm. At 5.25pm we were told we had to leave the table in around 10 minutes as they had a large booking coming in at 6pm. At this time 2 people in our group were still eating as their desert had come out quite a bit later than the rest of ours. We said we had the table till 6pm, the man replied that it didn't mean we had the table till 6pm, it meant the next booking was at 6pm. We also pointed out we were still eating, he replied and said you have 10 minutes yet. It spoilt the afternoon and we felt rushed. To make matters worse they started clearing plates whilst the 2 in our group were eating and made us feel uncomfortable as on several we caught a waitress talking behind her hand and looking over towards us. When we were leaving I tried to talk to who I assume was running the shift, he was not at all interested in was saying and was adamant that even though the email confirmed the booking till 6pm, we actually needed to leave nearly 30 mins before this, he certainly didn't understand or care how their attitude had put a dampener on the whole afternoon. Customer service and attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

Another brilliant meal! Warm welcome and shown to a comfortable table. Drink and food order taken, rapid wine and water delivery. Food followed shortly after. I had lamb my wife turkey both on hot plates moist plentiful and perfectly cooked! Vegetables arrived in timely fashion. I was amazed at the industry of the lasses and lads serving customers. I noted that nothing was too much trouble and the friendly atmosphere was maintained despite the number of orders executed! (Managers do look after these treasures of your organisation they really enhance your offering and service) What a wonderful time had at a Sunday evening roast. Absolutely freezing when we sat at out table, food was OK but expensive for tiny portions especially tiny deserts.

Newly refurbished rooms with hot ,efficient shower ,soft towels and great bed, Enjoyable meals on 2 evenings in busy restaurant. This won't be our last visit to the Corbet Arms . Thanks to all the staff , you were great .

I have had Sunday Lunch at The Corbet Arms on several occasions, and the food is always delicious 😋 I chose well-done meat. I prefer my meat a little pink, so was pleased to be offered the choice. When ordering, I also requested that my meat be cut up for me, as this is something I have great difficulty with. I've asked this in different places before with oddly mixed results, but at The Corbet Arms, I was listened to, and my meat arrived cut into decent-sized pieces to eat easily. The meat was lovely too. Very tender, and plenty of it, too! The vegetables were served separately, to share between us. We were a party of 4, and managed to eat all the vegetables bought out but didn't need any more. The roast potatoes were perfection! I love my puds, so even though I was pretty full, I had to have a pud. Especially as I'd already seen my favourite Biscoff cheesecake on the menu. If you like Biscoff, then you really need to try this - it's amazing! So, in conclusion, we had a great time here, with a great atmosphere, service and, most importantly, delicious food! Get yourself in there for a Sunday lunch, but probably best to reserve a table first! I re-visited The Corbet Arms yesterday (01/12/24) with family to celebrate my birthday, which was earlier in the week. We were a party of 15 and were seated in the Sabrina Suite. This was a beautiful and classicly decorated room. We were asked to provide a list of our menu choices before attending, and because of this, I was very disappointed at the long wait before our starters arrived. I was also disappointed to find there was confusion over what the soup of the day was. A number of our party had requested soup, so wanted to know what flavour it was. I asked the man who had seated us and appeared to be in charge in this area and was told it was Carrot and Coriander. Meanwhile, another member of the party was also asking another staff member, who informed him it was Brocolli and Stilton. The man I had asked heard us discussing being told two different flavours, so he went to the kitchen to double-check and came back and told us it was Brocolli and Stilton soup. However, when the soup arrived, it was Carrot and Coriander. Thankfully the disappointment ended here! The main and dessert courses did not disappoint in the slightest! All members of the party agreed that the food was delicious! The Corbet Arms still has a massive Thumbs Up from me, and I'd highly recommend them.

We held a wake for my grandfather and, from first contact with Steph and the rest of the team, we received great service. On the day, Javier looked after us and was very attentive. The room was a good size, perfect for any occasions, and has its own bar. Sadly we couldn't make use of the outside spaces due to the weather, but it's a great location and would be perfect on a sunny day. We were able to pop in the night before to add some photographs to the available boards. Food was good quality, freshly made and went down well with guests, and the gluten free offering was much better than other places. We've visited The Corbet Arms for many occasions over the years and highly recommend it.

We had a family gathering for my daughter’s 18th birthday last night. The atmosphere, food and service was amazing. I couldn’t fault anything. The staff go above and beyond and should be very proud of themselves. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

Stayed 1 night in a twin room for an event nearby. Great location, only 10 minute drive to the centre. Amazing room, they've recently been refurbished and are high standard. Very comfortable beds 😌

On behalf of our family we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at The Corbet Arms for our Mum's 90th birthday lunch. The team was absolutely amazing and the food was superb. We enjoyed every mouthful and every moment and we were looked after so well. Fantastic service, so well coordinated with all 28 of us eating a beautifully presented, piping hot Sunday lunch at exactly the same time. Thank you for making our Mum's day extra special, not just for her but for everyone in our party.

We held a large birthday lunch here and the service and food were fantastic! Everything came out quickly for a party of 30, all the food was hot and delicious. So impressed!

We stayed 2 nights having breakfast and evening meal on both days. Our room was very comfortable and over looked the river. Both breakfast and evening meal was a good standard and the staff both mornings and evenings were very efficient and cared.

We were looking for a venue that could accommodate a large party (19) and the Corbet Arms did not disappoint. We were able to pre-select our food, which was fantastic and the staff there were very helpful, especially as my son has a severe egg allergy.

We had a lovely time celebrating our 2nd anniversary of meeting. The atmosphere was good, the food was good except for my gammon. It was very overcooked meaning that it was tough to cut and chew. We did tell the waitress who said she would advise the cook. We heard nothing. We advised when paying the bill only to be told the person would advise the cook again. Also as we left the car park lights were turned off making it very difficult to get my wheelchair into the boot of our car. Such a shame as normally everything is spot on. Just a bad night.

A very enjoyable pub with rooms. The room was a good size, comfortable king-size bed, good bathroom and pleasant housekeeping staff. The food at breakfast and dinner was good with friendly service and good selection of beers and wine. Basically, The Corbet delivers everything it promises and we need more of that these days.

Love the food and the place the service by the staff is excellent except for one woman who it seems is a front of house or something got a bit of a attuide problem but never mind nobody perfect it will not stop me going back

Sunday roast to due for...truly the food was fantastic. Nothing too fancy, just beautifully cooked and served food. Lovely place, great service too. PARKING!! Not so much...took ages to get a spot and then when we came out delighted, we couldn't get out of our spot because someone had fully blocked us in. When the culprit emerged she said "I did tell the manager I'd blocked someone in" Honestly, get the parking sorted and this would be a 7 star review.

Pub grub at a higher standard. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back but it was a nice meal overall.

Came here on the Shropshire real ale trail. It was the most upmarket pub on the circuit, make of that what you will.

Stayed for one night and hosted an event at The Corbet Arms. The bedrooms are well appointed and very clean, slight negative with a drains smell in the bathroom but this did clear by the morning. Comfy beds. The food was outstanding, simple food cooked really, really well and very generous portions. Breakfast was simple but again freshly cooked and tasty.

We visited the Corbet Arms on 31st August for my wife's 70th birthday party. All I can say is that it was a great night, with good food and service. We had booked the Sabrina Room and it was ideal for us. The staff were very helpful and courteous, especially Jay and Luke R who even helped us clear up at the end and stayed with us as we saw everybody left safely. We had a terrific DJ , Ian, who our daughter had booked. I would like to thank the Manager (sorry I have forgotten your name) and all the staff, and we will certainly return.

Nice place and well looked after. Food is nice also. Dosnt let dogs inside is the only issue so have to sit out side in poor weather (unfortunately I had walked so couldn't go else at the time).

Stayed here on a Saturday night as we had travelled down from Preston for a wedding at Hencotes Vineyard. Unable to access our room on arrival as it was 2 hours before check in however we were given our room keys and were able to leave our bags which were waiting in our rooms when we got in later that day . Beautiful location on the river and the couple we travelled with had a fantastic view from their room. Ate breakfast the next morning which was freshly prepared and delicious , plenty of choice too. The staff were very friendly and efficient and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if visiting the area.

Started off promising with a friendly welcome from the man who was front of house. He greeted us professionally and quickly took out drinks order. Went downhill from then on. Three of the meals were ok , the third was not. The main element of the lamb kofta was not edible. The 2 very small koftas were burnt, rock hard and after one bite i was unable to eat anymore. I tried to feedback this to one of the waitress’s but she completely ignored this. To be fair that was a theme for the female waitress’s, who can best be described as surly and clearly didnt want to be at work. Had to wait ages for table to be cleared, ask for a dessert menu and again for dessert order to be taken. No smiles, no customer service skills and only animated when standing by the till area talking to each other. Wouldnt return and wouldnt recomend as customer service was non existant.

Fab location, beautiful pub with great outdoor area. Rooms spacious and tastefully decorated. Uber clean. All the little extras covered - toiletries and as much tea/coffee as wanted with extras in hall. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere in pub. Thoroughly recommend. We'll be back.

The Corbet Arms offers a quintessential English countryside experience. The building itself is steeped in history and exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. The gardens are beautifully maintained, providing a perfect backdrop for a relaxing stroll or an alfresco drink.

The food was superb, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The beer garden is spacious and perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend for a great time!

I had a lovly stay at the corbet arms with my wife we enjoy the atmosphere and how everything was so professionally aranged even at night we still have a wonderful time talking to staff and other guest even the food was 5 stars all in all i would deffnetly stay again

We stayed four nights at the Corbet Arms and was very well looked after. The room was large and comfortably furnished; the bathroom was spotless, car parking spaces were plentiful; the menu was varied, and the food cooked perfectly; the staff friendly, helpful and efficient (especially Elaine on breakfast service); the choice of drinks at the bar extensive and, the location ideal for what we had planned to do during our stay. Overall, there was little if anything we could criticise and, we hope to revisit in the near future. Therefore, please don’t mess with a winning formula and thank you.

Had my fathers wake here. Booking was easy I choose the menu ‘afternoon tea’. Was worried if there would be enough food as you never know how many people will be attending. But need not have as plenty of delicious food. Room was a great size for 50 guests with a bar. Service was excellent.

As three couples from the same University some 45 years ago, we meet in Shropshire biannually for a reunion and catchup. Shropshire is equidistant from our respective homes. We stayed for two nights and found the Corbet Arms to have comfortable rooms, spacious, clean and well appointed. The outside area is very large with a lovely setting by the river, unfortunately we didn’t have the summer weather to take benefit from it. We did sit outside briefly with fleeces and jackets. The hotel is close to the Shrewsbury Park and Ride. Drive into Shrewsbury at your peril as it is a bottleneck! The bar area was quite busy in the late afternoon as was the restaurant. This quickly abated once past 20:00hrs. As guests in the hotel we didn’t find a comfortable area to sit and relax and catch up with our friends. The seating was more bench like and uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. There wasn’t a comfortable place to retire to after dinner so we stayed at the table. Breakfast did not contain the breadth of products found on most hotel breakfast menus, there wasn’t any pastries and the fresh fruit was limited to apples and bananas. Eggs Benedict was noticeably absent. However, the portion size for the full English was not for the faint hearted and it was well cooked. Meals on both evenings in the restaurant were good. The menu contained a fairly typical range of food to be found on the menus of most public houses. It was not a ‘gastro’ menu by any means, but the food was well cooked and service was timely. In terms of value for money, we were happy with the Corbet Arms.

Thank you all for a lovely meal, although limited menu options, the young waitress that seated us was very knowledgeable about what they did/didn’t have left. The chips were cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, Hubby was extra pleased that he got a shamrock in his pint of Guinness, we will return soon

Sunday Lunch at the Corbett Arms for 30, it was hot, beautifully cooked, service was incredible - what a team definitely recommend. And will be booking again next year too!!

Excellent Sunday lunch, 1 beef (cooked perfectly) and 3 turkey, could not fault the food.l and there were 4 clean plates! The only criticism is that we were seated but not provided with menus so had to go and hunt for them

I ordered fish and chips the fish was good quality - but the chips were huge, pale and could have done with longer in the fryer .. my daughter had a minute steam with chips she left her chips too and they weren’t crispy and largely tasted uncooked - not raw but not cooked enough. This isn’t the first time I’ve asked for my chips to go back to be cooked longer, I didn’t today my daughter asked me not to as she’d feel embarrassed. Could the chips not go a triple cooked process so chips are quickly refried 3 rd stage when required..? This is the only criticism I constantly have either this place - Owners / chef please don’t want to complain but please observe the amount of chips left on people plates when the plates are returned.
