Delicious food and fantastic service. Absolutely love the live piano music every time we come.

Love this place, food is amazing and you just won’t find anything like it elsewhere, a real gastronomic feast.

Just had the 3 course set lunch and it was amazing. Fantastic flavours and good sized portions. Currently 2-4-1 so £39.95 for two people is incredible value.

My husband and I booked for the Indian high tea. It was on an offer and we love high tea, so we figured we would try it. It was all so amazing. There was a tone of variety of both sweet and savoury and the masala chai tea we got was very nice. The service was quick and attentive. Such a fun and unique twist- our favourite was the spiced chocolate cake and the potato sandwich. We cleaned our plates!

Lovely food very well presented.

Probably the best Indian food I’ve had outside India. King black prawns. Incredible. Delicious complementary passion fruit drink and then soup and bread. All the meals were fantastic and service was lovely throughout. On the pricey side but definitely worth it for the quality, local sourcing, the various extras and service. And the portions are generous - sadly we couldn’t manage dessert!

We enjoyed the 2 for 1 3 course menu offer. Food was full of flavour and unique.

A very warm welcome by the front of house. Live piano music made a lovely backdrop for our dinner which is very highly recommended accompanied by several excellent greetings from the kitchen.

Great food in a lovely restaurant. Our server Sakshi was wonderful and looked after us very well. The pianist, local legend Luke Smith, creates a superb atmosphere with his incredible ability on the piano. Highly recommended.

We have just eaten An absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. We drank house wine which was also good. The staff were so friendly polite with just the right amount of attentiveness. We were also given a homemade drink to start and a very tasty soup. The staff could not have been more gracious. Well done all.

The food and service at The Cook's Tale have been exceptional: the best service we have experienced in a very long time. We were well looked after and our waiter gave us lots of free appetisers to try. Our mains (vegetarian thali) was also amazing and unlike any dining experience we have had before.

We had heard of The Cook’s Tale and wanted to try it out. My wife was tempted by the idea of Indian Tapas. Safe to say - the rumours did not disappoint! We arrived an hour early and were seated immediately with a smile and no fuss or disapproval - I like’d the maître d's approach straightaway - he was polite, welcoming and knowledgeable - helping guide our menu choices. OK, so, the food … it was delicious!!! For me the highlights were: Pani-puri - a delicious explosion of flavour and crunch. The chicken puff; the venison kebab; the chicken cigar were all fine. The chocolate samosas were unique and worth the trip on their own.

We booked for an anniversary lunch - if you are looking for an amazing authentic meal with good service and at a reasonable price then this is the place to come ! The staff will help guide you through based on your preferences, all allergens are catered for and the staff have the right balance between being helpful and leaving you to enjoy the company you are with - highly recommend.

I’ve not done a review like this for quite a while, but visiting this restaurant I had to give it a review. The Cooks Tale is a wonderful restaurant where the food and drink is all locally sourced. As soon as you step into the venue you are greeting by a friendly face who takes you to your table. The waiters here are, friendly, have a good sense of humour and very knowledgeable and passionate about giving each and every customer a great experience. As soon as sit down you and look at the menu, which you given time read and choose. Then the Adventure begins. If you’ve never had Malaysian or Moroccan food before, you in for a treat. Each course is complimented with either muse bouche or something to keep you going till the next course. To start, you offered a delicately spiced pea soup in a small Ramicin with a slice of home made bread. then if you choose, your starter, which we chose the Game Platter and was some of tastiest meats I ever tasted. Then you are given a muse bouche, a small in one bite dish that cleanses your palette. Then on to the main course which also btw, sets your tastebuds alight, each dish beautifully crafted and presented dish, made with delicate traditional herbs and spices. We had the chicken in a rich butter sauce Malay style and a Prawn dish. Both tasted incredible. Then if you choose, a dessert, like all of this impressive menu, was also home made. and then we chose a coffee, which btw is also delicious. All served at a speed to suit the customer. Never rushed and all served with a smile. All in all, one of best experiences we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be telling our friends about this.

This was genuinely one of the best meals I have ever eaten — it was so easy as a vegetarian and every single bite was perfect. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in Canterbury and will recommend to others!

We had such a lovely evening at A Cook’s Tale this evening. We were warmly welcomed and we can’t fault the service. We loved trying all of the little bits of tasty food in between each course. It was also nice to try different foods that we had never had before. In particular, we loved the beetroot that came with the vegetarian starter and the fish cakes with the seafood platter.

Food was top notch. Attention to detail was superb. Atmosphere was friendly. Not overly loud. Most enjoyable.

Wonderful experience! Food was fabulous

I wanted to give it 5 stars but not quite. The lamb was amazing I loved it. The menu is seafood rich not quite my cup of tea but looked good. The service was a bit off I can see they were trying, but twice I had to remind the staff to bring my drink and that I didn’t want anything alcoholic. In addition the vegetarian platter missed the mark. I would come again just for the lamb !

Our hostess, Sakshi, was informative and engaging and explained each dish. We had a fantastic meal and experience. The extra courses were amazing and really tasty. If we could describe the food in one word it would be "flavoursome". We would definitely return, to sample the other options on the menu. Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend!

Had a fantastic evening at The Cook's Tale! The food was absolutely delicious, with a unique blend of flavors that were both familiar and surprising. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting.

Best Indian Cuisine in Town! Don't miss, really a great experience! We liked our choice of creamy chicken and the pork belly. The small greetings from the kitchen are top notch as well! Really great service to top it up. 11 out of 10!

This was our first visit to Canterbury and my husband and I were looking for a good evening meal. We decided to take a chance on The cook’s Tail and we were not disappointed. From the minute we entered the restaurant we were welcomed by smiling and friendly staff who were all happy to help and explain what the different dishes were like including level of hot spices and to cater to any request we may have. Service was excellent and food even better. Food arrived freshly made, hot and delicious. We did initially think that the food was a tad pricey when looking at the menu however after tasting it, we can only say it is reasonable. Good , well prepared food in pleasant surroundings is worth paying for. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a tasty meal with good friends and family. We will definitely return to tryout more delicious meals on offer, but next time we will bring our friends too .
