Got fed up of sunset fish bar and there budgie sized portions, managed to find this place and it’s excellent and even does deep fried Mars bars and the owners have a good laugh

Fish made fresh to order, very crispy batter and they skin the fish so you can eat all of it! No batter wasted on the skin left behind. Chips were hot and fresh, chunky home style authentic chip shop chips. Less than 5 min walk from the seafront, worth the extremely short walk for quality fish and chips at the beach. £24.60 for medium cod and chips for 2.

Amazing fish and chips! Very fresh!!!We have ordered a medium-sized cod and haddock and large chips, and it was plenty for the 2 of us! The guys at the shop are amazing, very funny! 😆 was a good laugh. The shop is located 5 minutes from the seaside. We took some beers from co-op next door, perfect Sunday! Highly recomended!

Ismail who is the owner & fryer of this little gem of a fish & chip shop, is very good at his job! His very friendly personality too makes this establishment a first stop when visiting Herne Bay👍 We have eaten fish & chips all over the UK and the Starfish bar is really one of the best we've tasted 😋 Ismail is even thoughtful of the weather, asking us if we're going to eat our fish & chips on the seafront it's better he serves the meal in a box because of the wind! Brilliant - A large cod & chips cost £7.50 which a very good price indeed👍 We'll definitely be revisiting Ismail's Starfish bar next time we visit Herne Bay🌞

Delicious fish and chips from Starfish bar! Friendly staff and food is cooked to order. Lovely chips that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Fish was fresh and batter was cooked to perfection. Not greasy or soggy at all. The portion sizes are very generous and good value for money. We devoured our meal on the seafront which is a short 2 min walk from the shop. The perfect way to finish a great day out by the coast.

Brilliant chippie - reminds me of my childhood chippie (George's) run by an Italian family. The brothers who run this one are genuinely lovely chaps. Fish cooked to order so it's fresh and crispy and the best chips on the high street.

Top Fish & chips! We enjoyed haddock & chips & cod & chips. Everything was made to order & cooked in front of us. The food was absolutely superb! The service is equally as amazing as the food! Jimmy & Memhet are amazing guys! They both took the time to chat to us and all of the other customers to come in, creating a very happy & welcoming atmosphere. Great crispy batter, good sized haddock. Chip portions very good. It became quite busy at lunchtime so it must be a popular place to eat. Not only a fish and chip shop, breakfasts and burgers ect on the menu all cooked to order. Will be eating here next time we visit the town.

We always come here for Fish and chips. The food is cooked to perfection and the two owners are extremely friendly to their loyal clientele throughout the town. Simply delicious.

Highlights *Thick Chunky Cod *Perfectly fried golden chips This place is better than any local seafront fish and chip shop so make sure not to miss out. I'd like to see bigger curry portions other than that this is the best fish and chip shop in the area!

Quick service, chips were nice and battered sausages were very good. Drove to the beach after and ate them while the sun set across the sea 👌

The best fish and chips in Herne Bay. 2 Turkish brothers, one works really hard cooking fresh to order fish and chips and the other brother keeps busy watching the football. A busy takeaway and a great team. And thank you for bigger portions.

Went here after a day on westbrook beach. 5 of us all had cod and chips. Family run business. Served by dad and son. Freshly cooked everything for us. We all said it was the best fish and chips we had had in a very long time. Been our family tradition to hit the beach at westbrook and go herne bay later for a scoff for over 40 years. Wish we had found this place sooner.

Chips were very good, the rock fish overcooked and the batter verging on brown, inedible!! Pickled gherkins soft, no crunch. Poor.

The fish was tasteless. The batter a strange yellow colour and it was as hard, no light crispness at all. We looked it up Ti make sure we found a good fish n chip shop and it was rated 4.7 by 129 people. I have to ask was this just an off day or is the food always this inedible? Worst F & C ever. There were 4 of us that agreed.

Flaky, golden battered fish, fried to order and perfection. Chips crispy on the outside, fluffy and creamy inside. Lovely service. Couldn’t tell you if it’s the best fish and chips on the whole Kent coast, but the best we’ve had for YEARS. Generous portions!

Came to Herne Bay for a weekend get away with friends and went out searching for a fish and chips joint. Found star fish and chips in the high street. Great place to have good quality fish and chips with a friendly staff. The fish itself was really tasty and one of the best I have ever had after coming to the UK. The service offered by the staff was also really commendable. Giving us extra sauce so as to meet our taste requirements. Overall would recommend to anyone coming to Herne bay and looking for a good fish and chips joint.

This is the best fish & chip shop in Herne bay,they know me & my son as Mr Christmas,the portions are generous & the price is similar to other fish & chip shops in Herne bay! But because of inflation the prices have shot up but you can get an OAP portion of fish & chips for under £7! It's all freshly cooked to order! So worth 5 stars! A+++

The friendliest fish 'n chips shop in Herne Bay! With a 5 star hygiene rating too! The best chips always freshly cooked, with a big menu including veggie options and lots of extras so a great choice whether you fancy your classic fish 'n chips, chicken, pies, burger, halloumi, veggie burger, battered mushrooms or Mars bars, or even an omelette if you ask nicely! Of all the chippies in the Bay, this one is my absolute favourite.

I turned up late just as the guys were packing up but they leapt into action and cooked my fish and chips from scratch. It was great - easily good as anywhere else around. Thanks guys!

Really friendly staff it was our first time in Herne Bay and they gave us a great welcome. Nice sized portion and tasty fish and chips. Selection of different fish and other bits you can buy. It's also really close to the centre and the beach so easy to pop in and enjoy.

My partner and I had travelled from London when we visited this lovely Fish and Chip shop in Herne Bay yesterday (21/05/2022); and we will definitely be returning. The staff were super friendly and welcoming; and the food was amazing and at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend a visit.

My favourite chip shop! I always find the chips here delicious and just right ! Their other foods they offer too are really tasty. I always make sure to come here if I want chips 😁

We went here for a change and the staff were great very accommodating we sat in the five of us even though I ordered take away when I asked for a couple of empty bags to share food out in the car I'm guessing the owner or manager insisted we came in and sat down and ate our food inside at a table. He served the food up on plates and it was well worth going here we will return so friendly and welcoming food was good too win win

Absolutely awful. Spent £60 on fish and chips for visiting family and it was the worst meal in a long time. Batter was hard and greasy, fish was battered with skin still on. Chips were green. Just awful

I was walking past and decided to pop in for a portion of chips. They were almost cold and had gone rubbery because they'd obviously been standing around for a long time after being taken out of the fryer. I ate a few and then threw the rest in the first litter bin I could find. A complete waste of £2.00. I appreciate that it was a Sunday afternoon when trade wasn't busy, but cold rubbery chips are unacceptable.

As a past Herne Bay resident, been driving from Gillingham as a regular (around once a month) Friday evening outing just to get our fish & chips from Starfish - then drive up to the top of Beacon sit and eat then walk our dogs. Great, tasty meal served by friendly staff.

Came down to Kent for a few days and visited Herne Bay for the day. Found this fish and chip shop and I'm very fussy about my fish&chips and these were soooo good! The fish was thick and cooked perfectly and not oily at all. Chips were really nice too. The guys were friendly and genuine. Will go there again if I venture back down that way. 100% recommend. You won't be disappointed

Cracking Chippy. Went there yesterday for the first time - wait was quite long out but when it did arrive, it was definitely worth the wait. Probably the best fish and chips since I was eating fish and chips since Whitby, 20 years ago.

Came to Herne Bay all the way from London yesterday and discovered this amazing fish and chips shop away from the sea front. So glad we bought cod and chips from here. The cod fish was cooked perfectly with very light batter and the fish was very fresh. Friendly customer service and good prices. Would highly recommend this place for anyone in Herne Bay.
