Well I'd like to start this review by saying I absolutely love The Coo Shed, I love the concept, the decor, the food, everything, and since we 'discovered' it a couple of years ago have been back many, many times. Therefore, it is with disappointment that I must leave a rather negative review of our recent visit. Ordered two breakfasts from a humourless unsmiling young man. Asked for coffees to be served with the food. Food arrived and was lukewarm, served on cold plates. No sign of coffee. Started eating whilst trying to catch someone's eye, to no avail. Eventually, when we had almost finished our food I had no option but to get up and go to the counter and ask for our drinks. Had ordered a side of toast which was more like warm bread, colourless and untoasted. Didn't feel it was worth sending it back. Also (and I hasten to add this didn't affect us, but I thought was very poor etiquette) - waitress went to table next to us with a plate of food in each hand. The customers indicated that each plate was for the other, so the waitress crossed her arms over and let them lift the plates from her instead of turning and putting one down, then turning and putting the other down. Clearly the plates weren't hot!! I really hope this was a one off and that The Coo Shed will use this review for training purposes. I shall be very sad if their previous high standards don't resume as I genuinely do love it.

Superb lunch and Service at the COO Shed this week. Yes we waited for about 10mins for a seat but it worth it. My Daughter and I both had the salt and chilli chicken curry cheese wrap with chips. They were delicious. Always been lovely on our visits. Had a walk round the lovely out door shop. We saw the goats too and cute farm cat!

We visited at a less busy time this week and got seated right away. Loved my feta and roasted vegetable panini. The chips that came with it were perfect and the glass of milk was so tasty! As we left I was tempted by the lemon meringue pie and got a slice to take away, plus some carrot cake from the vending machine. Top notch as always. Well done The Coo Shed!

I'm just getting round to reviewing this venue after having a disappointing breakfast there about 2 months ago. I ordered the bacon bagel from the menu and it arrived 'deconstructed' on the plate. The bagel was sliced open with nothing on it. The bacon was the cold and brittle shop bought type that you buy in supermarkets as a sandwich filler. It was lying beside it and there was also butter on the side. It was quite strange, unexpected and unlike their other menu dishes. I ate it but I haven't been back since. The other thing that has always annoyed me here is the lack of healthier menu options and alternative milks for those who have allergies or, like me, just like an oat milk coffee. Not everyone wants a loaded meal or a super sweet treat and although their baking is great, these issues make it a little behind the times and not particularly inclusive. I understand that it's farm produce and their own milk supply but they could diversify a little! Have to finish on a high note and say that there's always plenty of attentive and welcoming staff and it's always busy.

Had a family party at home decided to place order for outside catering, food excellent good selection of sandwiches, macaroni went so fast people complained they did not manage to get any, reports were so tasty. If your having a gathering at home would recommend the package offered plus extras as well, be aware you get plenty no one left hungry that's for sure.

Went here for lunch today and watched who I assume was the manager, pull a member of staff up in front of customers totally embarrassing the young girl. This is absolutely disgusting and nobody should be treated like that, this is not the first time I have been here and thought that the same member of staff was not approachable or kind to staff. I hope the girl is alright, will not be back.

I like the Coo Shed and have been fairly often over the years and would recommend it. However today I went with my Mum and had two pieces of lemon meringue pie with no cream and two small white coffees and the price was £17.80. On using the card machine it prompted me to pay a 20 per cent tip ie another £3.56 so £21.36 for two small coffees and two pieces of pie without cream . It was nice but I feel the prices are excessive.

I was taken here by my daughter and her family and we all had a lovely day (despite the weather not being so great). The restaurant staff were very friendly, helpful and observed all Covid-19 rules, as did all the staff. Outside the 2mt distancing was observed. Only one group at a time was allowed in and after login in and hand sanitising were led directly to our table where the restrictions regarding mask wearing, leaving the table and using the toilets were clearly explained. The service was fairly quick, and the meals were perfectly cooked, delicious and plentiful. There were no complaints from anyone, including an 11 year old fussy eater and a 4 year old. Lovely desserts were available too.The nursery was lovely and the plants were well looked after. My grandchildren loved the milk shakes too. Overall a lovely visit, and I enjoyed the rural location too.

Went to collect some fresh milk at the self service machine, it's a very good idea and they now have an egg vending machine, cake vending machine and a fruit and veg vending machine. It was very well organised like a drive thru, as we had to wait a while as the que was quite long but it saves you going to the shops and coming into contact with people.Somethings are overpriced compared to other nearby farm shops, but it is very handy.

I have been to a number of hotels and restaurants in recent years here in South Ayrshire, we normally only eat out on special occasions. It was recommended that we try the Coo Shed just off the major A77 trunk road, and we certainly weren't disappointed.I preferred this farmhouse style restaurant compared to any restaurant I have tried in years it was that good, well done!Only a couple of minuets off the busy A77, there was ample parking space, but I noticed only one particular disabled space, more than one is required here in my opinion. We arrived just outside the traditional lunch period of 12pm – 2pm, and had to wait a few minuets to be seated it was that busy, but well worth the wait, service was good, food excellent, and prices reasonable. My only criticism would be the lack of choice with the starters on their menu, I don't like mushroom soup which sort of made the choice a little limited in my opinion. To drink I enjoyed a glass of fresh farm milk, and there was even milk to go in their novel 'milkhoose' which has extended opening hours 7am until 7pm open seven days. Plus an honesty box for bottle payments, how good is that.As well as a traditional on site garden nursery, there was also a small shop, I purchase a very nice fruit loaf at £3.50, a bit pricey for this I thought, but quality was excellent to help make up for cost.Overall, I would judge the food at 9.5 out of ten, well done!We shall definitely return.

2nd visit. Will defo be the 2nd of many. I work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday and seldom take a day off through the week , so I really appreciate finding places like this where the standard of customer service and product are fantastic. My partner and I arrived about 11.30. There were a few folk waiting before us but we were immediately approached by a smiling friendly member of staff who advised us and others waiting that we shouldn't have to wait long. We were provided with menus. Watching the staff you could see they were all busy and they obviously have their service down to a fine art. We were seated within a few minutes. We had our orders taken by a pleasant young girl. Had a bit of a laugh when ordering my latte as I asked if they had any flavoured syrups and I misheard as I thought she said 'Cajun' when she said 'Hazlenut' wonder how that would have tasted . We had the chicken & rice soup followed by the chilli nachos for my partner and french toast with bacon and maple syrup. OMG TASTE SENSATION !!! ❤❤❤ The french toast with bacon and maple syrup was simply awesome. I tried a couple of the other halfs chilli nachos and yeah, perfection. The chicken and rice soup was hearty good homemade with loads of chicken. We bought a bit of cheesecake and a banana fudge scone for later (gorgeous). The staff were hardworking and friendly and what was sooo nice was that they really seem to care that you are enjoying your meal/snack/experience. Was more than happy to leave a tip and thanks to all the staff. It was an absolute treat. A+++++ 11/10

This is a bustling eatery, off the beaten track, with a country charm to it.After a friendly welcome I chose the hearty breakfast from the menu, but without eggs and mushrooms/ There was no offer to replace these items with anything else, and the plate that arrived looked a little sparse as a result. The food was tasty enough, and the coffee was good, if not a little expensive (£3 for an Americano?!).The schoolboy humour in me appreciated the Bulls and Cows signs on the toilet doors

The staff are great and very hard working. The coffee and cakes are pretty good. The downside for me is the noise inside the building. There is nothing to absorb noise and it echoes everywhere. People speak louder to their friends to be heard, and so on, and so on, until the whole place is a loud rabble. It is very popular and there are frequently queues of people waiting to get in for lunchtime.

We visited this establishment at the weekend, where we had good food! This was our second visit and will be our last. The management require to take these reviews on board seriously as it could be detrimental to their business! On arrival we had to stand with a group of people all squashed up in the doorway, nearly on top of a couple having a meal with their baby in a pram...we were literally blocking the exit for anyone leaving. It was awful with no organisation from any of the staff, they went about oblivious and not even taking the time to try and explain. We were eventually seated, and our order was taken by the more mature lady who was the only one pleasant ....the other staff were rude and didn't have any manners whatsoever....we had to approach them to clear our table then wait for a considerable time for our next order to be taken by a frosty young woman who had a face like sour cream. Again this order was not as we had ordered, causing more delay. I can appreciate at times due to being busy these things can occur butthis was not the case!....The management need to send their staff on a welcome host course to train them to the standard of care towards customers, due to this unpleasant visit we will not be recommending as unfortunately we will be avoiding returning again in the future which is sad ( such a lovely setting) very unhappy customer indeed.

When we arrived there was about 10 people awkwardly standing at the door waiting to be seated...staff were wandering around making no effort to acknowledge customers...we were left standing until a table became available. The staff were rude, detached and very disorganised. Total lack of management. Will not be back.

I always love my visits here. Quirky design, amazing food, particularly the cakes. Usually always have great service, only one star down because find one staff member a little abrupt on a couple of occasions I've been there. Real asset to ayr overall however!

Made a visit to the Coo Shed this morning on recommendation and had breakfast rolls and pie with family. Great service and food and loved the decor being from a farming background.

We visit the coo shed for lunch usually on a Friday Myself, Daughter and grandson and have to say the food is fantastic and staff are super efficient nothing is a problem to them and although it is always very busy you don’t have to wait long for a table. Prices are very reasonable with a relaxed atmosphere. Really lovely surroundings.

My husband and I have just been to the coo shed to buy plants. Wow just wow. The place is amazing. The staff wete very friendly and helpful and The plants and flowers are very well looked after and in my husband's words are very "vibrant" colours. I would definitely recommend this place. We didn't manage to get into the eating place as it was queued out the door. A very good sign of quality food to me. We will definitely be back to try it out tho as their stuff looks brilliant. Thank you coo she'd. We need a place like this in every area.

Waited just under an hour to get in, and then a further 30 mins for food to hit the table. It was well worth it! Food was amazing start to finish. A hidden gem

Went to visit the Coo Shed today. I was very impressed by the Milk Bot, got myself 3 bottles of the brilliant fresh farm milk. Got some of their bakery products & a few things for the garden. We then went into their very busy restaurant area, very nice & helpful staff. Especially Fay that served us. She was absolutely delightful, couldn’t do enough for us or the customers in the surrounding tables. All round brilliant experience. I will most definitely be back, this place is well run & very smart business wise. Well done to the Kerr Family that run this farm

We came here for lunch with favourite uncle and his wife. First visit and certainly not the last. Food was excellent. The soup was yummy as also was the prawn salad main course. Extremely generous with the prawns and an excellent salad selection. In fact there was too much but the leftovers were not wasted they were boxed up to take home. After lunch we checked out the small garden centre and wee shop. Katie in the shop was very chatty and friendly. We will certainly be back - the only downside is that we live on the east coast so will need to visit uncle more often !! Nearly forgot the desserts -in the restaurant - fantastic home made puds .

Visited this cafe with a colleague, midweek and queues out the door - fortunately we were served very quickly, though the waitress could at least have cracked a smile! Food order came out wrong at first but was quickly corrected. We had both requested chips with our sandwiches, but at £1.75 for you get, thought a wee bit expensive and the chips tasted only half cooked. Cost of wrap bit pricey, advertised with salad but one wee tiny spoonful of coleslaw, however the wrap itself was delicious

Nice setting hidden away in Ayrshire countryside. Small barn turned into a restaurant with a basic menu if sandwiches, wraps and salads.

First time visit on a Sunday and it was very busy with people waiting for a table to become free. Despite this, the service was efficient. Food was excellent and the decor was in keeping with the location on a farm.Lentil soup was lovely and obviously home made. Toastie was also very good and the selection of cakes was certainly to the liking of my dining companion.A stroll around the small garden centre afterwards just finished the visit nicely.I would recommend for a light bite although there are a few main course dishes on the menu too. I will be back very soon.

My family love the coo shed. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, great staff and brilliant garden and gift shop to wander around afterwards, always something to buy. I also get a lot of outside catering provided by the team which is amazing!! Well worth a visit if you’ve never been!

Great use of a farm building. Good decor, spotless toilets and very friendly staff. The food was good but the coffee very poor, a cappuccino looked like a white coffee with chocolate dusted on and tasted about the same!

Went here for breakfast with family, it was great! I am rather fussy and would saybreakfast isn't usually my favourite meal, on this occasion it was really nice. I had French toast with lovely bacon which I enjoyed and the coffee was great too! Everyone else had a five item cooked breakfast which they also enjoyed, look forward to a return visit!

This cafe is an absolute gem! The food is to die for. I had the tastiest broccoli soup I've ever tasted. The cakes are sublime and it's real honest home cooked food. I would highly recommend eating here.

Ate a tasty lunch here with my daughter. Served swiftly and efficiently. As the place is always so busy it didn't feel like a relaxing meal and felt we couldn't linger over our meal. None the less I would certainly return as the food is delicious.

Been in a few times now, wanted to give a fair chance as it's a convenient spot and the food is decent, but the staff are always rude and disinterested, they ruin the place. Best avoided. Also, claim to offer discounts for public service bus drivers, but that's also not true.

Not a tea room. Just a basic cafe. Coffee was awful. Tea served in a mug. Cakes under glass domes looked like they'd been there for a week. Shabby decor. Service mediocre

This is a real hidden gem. Set off the beaten track it takes a bit more effort that some of the more bouge cafes in Troon, but if you're looking for honest food and a fair price in a cafe you can get a seat in....its well worth the extra 3 min walk.

Thought it would be a quick stop en route to the ferry but shivered for 20 minutes in the car park for our breakfast rolls. Square sliced and onions tasty enough but (instant ) coffee was rank. Never again.
