Visited today and really impressed by the size of the sandwiches and paninis…very generous portions and really tasty too. It was like the leaning tower of chicken sub. 😋😋😋 Cakes are also lovely as was the coffee and tea. Really busy but a few tables. Definitely recommend if you are in /stopping by Galashiels and just 10 mins from the station.

We were in the Borders last weekend and had brunch here. My hubby had a breakfast of bacon, sausages, mushrooms, eggs and beans. It looked so appetising and he thoroughly enjoyed it with toast and coffee.Which I have to say, is the freshest, most delicious coffee we have had in so long. I believe the coffee is a local one. I had sourdough toast, avocado and poached eggs to die for. I also asked if I could have a sliced tomato with mine,it was sprinkled with mild chilli flakes, and presented beautifully. Such a delicious plateful! We brought away a selection of bakes which we had later on with family and the lime and coconut sponge was awesome ☺️ We were struck by how clean, fresh and neat it is and how friendly, efficient and lovely the staff were. If you find yourself in Galashiels, just try it!! ❤️

Recently visited this Cafe for a light lunch. Everything in place for Covid 19. A very pleasant lady took me to my table. I must say that the toasted sandwich and side salad I order was about the best I have tasted. The food was well presented and the surroundings spotless. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Can’t begin to describe how amazing the coffee tree is firstly the staff Emma and Pamela are so friendly, they make you feel so welcome and always have a smile on their faces. The menu has a huge range of food, the home made cakes and tray bakes are brilliant! They even have gluten free products which a lot of cafes don’t have! Very clean premises, and the staff are great with children and have plenty of treats for them too. Can’t wait to go back!!

The Coffee Tree has a really good - unusually good - selection of gluten-free items. I could have chosen pretty much anything from the menu because they have gluten-free bread and are willing to make any sandwich with it. There's also a good selection of sweet items and TWO kinds of scones. The coffee is also good and the seats are comfortable - I sat in the wee window seat and watched the world go by. The person serving (possibly the owner) was very friendly and helpful and cheery. A lovely place. I'll be back.

Popped into the cafe on Monday afternoon after work for a catch up with my friend. She had recommended it to me for the coffee and scones. Sadly there were no scones left but the orange sponge made up for it. Bright cosy and friendly cafe with lovely staff. Latte came in a mug which was bliss. Going to go back later in the week.

Went here for a coffee because I've heard the coffee here is brilliant but I had to wait 20 mins to get served. First thing the lady said when I got in was "it's table service, we're coming to you and it's quite busy now so it will take a while." I looked around and they had 4 tables, but maybe that's busy for them. I wasn't greeted or anything, coffee was alright but I'd rather go to Costa. Not impressed and won't go back.

We popped into The Coffee Tree while our car was being serviced. We ordered a latte each and a piece of sticky toffee cake for my husband and a cherry scone for me. The lattes were huge and lovely and hot. The stick toffee cake came with a little jug of hot toffee sauce and a strawberry and my scone came with butter and jam. They were both delicious and tasty. We will definitely be back at lunchtime to sample the other offerings.

Everything is freshly baked & the home-bakes on offer change daily depending on what the Mum & daughter team fancy making :-) We'll definitely be visiting whenever we're in Gala - just as well we don't live nearer or we'd be popping in to sample the daily changes! Overpriced very bland food. Had to throw lots of salt on everything just so it was edible. The mac n cheese was the worst as it seemed to be just boiled pasta ..very watery and overcooked broccoli and NO CHEESE SAUCE JUST HOT WATER. And £12 i must add which is shocking..ps the calazone was ok but still shocking what you get for £14..overall will never eat out off here again.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.

Went for Xmas lunch today as party of 8. Food was amazing, great portion sizes and price was so good. Our elderly lady took ill and the staff were fantastic, so caring. Waitress stayed with her in bathroom so we could all eat our meal. Even helping with her coat and tucking her scarf in as it was cold outside. Exactly the way you would treat your own mum. Staff are an asset to the tavern. Will definitely return

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
