A typical English pub with its bell at 2245. Good food

We found The Cock and Bottle quite by chance. We peered into the pub and saw a number of empty tables. This is usually not a good sign for us. We entered anyway. From entering, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. We soon found a table. The C&B didn't appear busy because many tables had been reserved. Drinks and meals were quickly ordered and the drinks soon arrived at the table shortly after. We all opted for Sunday Lunch, ordering different meats. We certainly weren't prepared for the size of the Yorkshire puddings. Who says the Southerners can't make Yorkshire Puddings. We're from North Yorkshire. The Puddings were impressive. The meal was the best Lunch I had tasted in a very long time. The bill was the same as other outlets in the area. The service was first class. By the time we left the pub was filling up nicely. So glad we ventured in. Thank you Cock & Bottle.

Its really a nice pub near to Notting Hill. I love the vibe there and seating area outside makes it special during sunny days. Even in winter they have heater outside so all good. Staffs were amazing and seating area inside too is better. Will love to visit again.

Went for Sunday Roast (we are from LA and until recently had never even heard that term!) and couldn’t have had a more delightful experience! The two women who served us were exceedingly welcoming, despite the fact that there was some mix up and my online reservation did not get through. Food was so tasty, and lovely atmosphere in outdoor seating across from beautiful old church on one side and adorable dogs (one very old one who was a regular and half blind and deaf, melted our hearts) on the other. A lovely experience all around! A highlight of our trip!

An amazing experience. The food was fantastic! We took the roast beef and the rosemary garlic chicken breast. The atmosphere was very cozy..I felt like a grandmother cooked for us. It's also nice that there are ppl watching football on a Sunday afternoon. Suuupeer!!

Lovely staff, quick service and delicious food. Not a long wait and people who genuinely care about their jobs and great customer service. Had the fish and chips with some cauliflower bites and both were bloody great!

Lovely staff, very wellcoming and with big smiles on their faces all the time. We had a couple pints and some sharers/nibbles and we were very impressed with the food we tried.

We absolutely loved this place, the Shepherd’s Pie was the best I have had, down to earth honest food. We had a meal for two pre theatre, the service charge being around £11.00. I asked for the service charge to be removed and gave the waitress £20.00, she was totally diligent and as said, the food was great and so was the wine. We will be back. There are so many places in the area to eat that are commercialised and just take footfall, the Cork & Bottle has a different feel to that, its "a find", a gem.

Went for a pint with a friend last night. Looked for somewhere to sit inside, but was told in quite an unfriendly way that everything was already reserved. Fair enough, it's Christmas. I looked around the pub. Nothing going, so we sat outside. I had a load of Too Good to Go baked goods, so I offered my friend a baguette from one of the bags. Halfway through eating it, the same staff member came out and castigated her for eating food not purchased in the pub. I get it and everything, but the whole exchange, on both occasions, was so rude. Beer wasn't bad though.

Came across the pub while walking to Portobello road. Very happy we decided to pop in for an impromptu lunch. Food was lovely. Service was warm and friendly.

Visiting from Boston, USA and this place was near our Airbnb. We loved it so much we went there for a pint 3 of the 4 days we were in London. Great staff and colorful clientele. Absolutely recommend! (We didn't have any food, hence no rating)

Completely uninspiring place. Half of the food that is offered on the menu was not available and the food that we got was bad, but expensive. The staff did not really care about this insufficiency as they did not care for us as guests anyway.

Usual pub in the area, decent bouillabaisse ( lots of fish/meat, overal taste muted) - ok drinks/wine. Generally nothing outstanding to distinguish it from other similar places in the area (?)

Awful service, manager is incredibly rude and incapable of taking correct orders- someone in our party’s roasts was really delayed so all our food went cold. Staff were hesitant to offer an alternative- would not recommend unfortunately

This place does a fab Sunday roast - even for vegetarians 🥰 delicious roast cheesy cauliflower with the works. Not the cheapest eat but a very good price for the quality you get!!

A suprising gem - amazing cheeseburger and chips. I live very close-by to this pub but have always been deterred by its ratings. Recently, I was forced to go due to reasons. A member of staff told me they recently employed a catering company to make their food. I was pleasantly surprised by their cheeseburger. It had a nice flamegrilled taste that is rare in London as-well-as all the accompaniments you'd expect with a great American style cheeseburger. The fries are also fantastic. Have been there again since to satisfy that burger craving.

Overcharge on my credit card which a year later was never followed up. Shame because we had a lovely evening.

Low quality of food: we got sausages and mussels with fries. Sausages tasted very average and the sauce didn’t add much; mussels were really hard as if they were frozen several times. Seems like a nice place to grab a drink but wouldn’t recommend the food at all. My rating: 3.0

Joke of a pub!! Charges almost £9 for a San Miguel!!!! Avoid at all costs

Charged £19.24 for a medium glass of rose (£10.25 - i confirmed how much this was, it was nice, so I’m fine with it being this price) and a pint of San Miguel…so this made the beer basically £9…for San Miguel 🤯🤯🤯 Absolute daylight robbery!!

Seriously 12.5% service when I queued at the bar to get my own drinks! Was told “that’s the price at the Cock & Bottle” and “the till adds it automatically”. Nah guys that’s just fraud. Bet the locals don’t pay service.

Beautiful pub, nice people but the beer just tastes that little bit worse when you pay £7.80 for a pint of IPA when the same costs significantly less in almost any other place in London.

What happened at C & B. Automatic tips on drinks without advice. Tip added to drink bought at the bar NOT table service. Menu that is appallingly poor and expensive. This pub used to be known for its food.

We’ve been staying in the area on holiday. This place was recommended as an authentic London pub experience and it did not disappoint. The service, the atmosphere, the food, and the libations were wonderful. We came for lunch on a weekday so we avoided the crowds. Top shelf all around.

An old school pub that has definitely seen better days, yet I had a pretty good roast dinner in there. Very much seems like a locals pub - I'm just a wanderer. Beer choice was pretty basic - think Gamma Ray was the most "interesting" from a modern IPA standpoint.

Wonderful place to escape from the Portobello Market crowds for a few pints on the patio. Welcoming staff and great food - Caesar salad with homemade dressing and fish & chips both solid.

Traditional pub with a variety of beers and cocktails. Right on the corner so it’s not hard to miss. Staff was very friendly and patient. The place has plenty of tables and option of areas to sit and enjoy a pint. There’s also sitting outside. The name is quirky.

This is such a beautiful pub in the middle of Notting Hill. Amazing selection of drinks, gorgeous staff, gorgeous place! An excellent pub quiz happens each week and if you are hungry, definitely get the mussels.

Genuinely the worst meal I’ve had in London. Took well over an hour…..Two chicken Cesar salads prepared with supermarket packet food. They literally looked like they’d been poured straight from pre-prepared packet. The BBQ cauliflower (the worst of the bunch) was completely soaked and soggy in some sort of sugary soup. Inedible and laughably disgusting. The chefs clearly just don’t care to allow this to go out and be served. Cold mustard sausages in way too much gloopy honey. And all for the bargain price of 75 pounds. Decent pub if you’re just drinking. DO NOT EAT THE FOOD.

Went last night with a group of 10. All the beers cask beers where off apart from one almost undrinkable hoppy rubbish. The food was utterly terrible. It’s a PUB that doesn’t have any beer !!!!!!!! avoid at all costs :-(

Candidate for best community pub !

Went yesterday with friends. Sat at a table for two hours before the so called ‘manager’ told us our table was reserved and we had to move. There was no indication it was reserved and even the guys o. The next table said so but it made no difference. Place was packed and when we asked if he had a table for us to move to he said no and basically couldn’t care less - very poor management and woeful customer service (bar staff were great) - won’t be going again

I absolutely love this pub! Staff made me feel more than welcome, even if I had just a pint. Lovely quiet location in front of a church, on the wall, a little hidden, Banksy artwork, not too crowded, away from busy areas. Inside simple and cosy, comfortable seats outdide as well. Definitely will back there. 🍻

Avoid the fish & chips ⚠️ First time in this pub despite living In the area for 15 years. Ordered fish and chips and a pint of pilsner at 5.30pm. Beer was fine (You can’t really go too far wrong with that) food arrived, fish batter looked a little weird but that’s fine everything looked good… Chips were great, peas fine, Fish however started to taste funny and I thought it was maybe the tartrate sauce, it wasn’t, tried again without and tasted odd. I then smelt the fish, it was overly pungent and just not right at all, I order fresh fish every week, I know what fresh fish should smell like and this wasn’t it. I pointed this out to a member of their staff and then was seen to by another staff member, explained the situation and immediately they seemed pretty unaccommodating, I just wanted a refund, that is all, and explained I only wanted to sort this matter out there in a reasonable way, he told me they couldn’t give a refund and only a part refund, I then asked again for a full refund, this is only fair given my complaint. Their chef and manager apparently said nothing was wrong and the fish was in a fresh batch and that they had served 15 portions already that day, that’s fine I said but maybe this one was off, it happens, but they still were militant in denying me any sort of refund and basically I was wrong. The customer was wrong? What happened to the customer being right?! I was hungry all I wanted was fish and chips, I left most of the chips and peas and had only around a quarter of the fish. They still played the ‘oh you ate half of it” card which I didn’t, it was a quarter at the most. At this point I was so perplexed, just give a customer a refund - but no, these guys were not being at all reasonable. They said I could have a part refund then refused that and offered me a dessert or another pint, I didn’t want to stay in this place any minute longer, I came for an early dinner and a pint, not a dessert or two pints. The fact is I should have been refunded for my food as simple as that. I then wouldn’t need to resort to a negative review. On the way home I bought a takeaway fish and chips and low and behold it didn’t smell weird or off, fish smelt fresh and tasted fine. I don’t know if this place was always like this but I will never go back here and I’ll tell everyone I know to avoid like the plague.
