Popped in for a late lunch. Sat by the fire with our dog. Enjoyed a game of Connect 4 and an amazing lunch. Atmosphere is friendly. Lots of friendly locals. Enjoyed our time and will be back. Pie and Salt Beef Brisket were excellent. Thank you!

The Cock Hemingford Grey is a great place to visit . We have been many times and have to say it never fails to deliver ,Sunday lunch is especially good . The staff with there professionalism and friendly manor all help to make the experience enjoyable .

My cousin, who lives in Cambridge, met us for dinner on a Saturday night. We had a superb meal, with highly professional and welcoming staff taking care of our significant allergy requirements effortlessly. Very pleasant environment - we were there for 2.5 hours enjoying the food and chatting away! A night to remember!

I had the Salt Beef Brisket which was amazingly delicious and tender. It came with Hemingford potatoes which I had never had before and they were probably some of the most interesting potatoes eve toor! They had the tang of horseradish and formed into cubes with a crispy exterior. Lucky we skipped a starter and also a dessert as we were both very full from the ample main course. My partner chose the Trout which was also exceptional.

Met up with friends for a Friday night meal. Not an extensive menu but enough to satisfy most people. Try the sausages and mash and you won’t go wrong. Choice of sausage with a choice of mash with a choice or gravy or jus. When we ere there the pie of the day was chicken and mushroom and again excellent. Friendly and efficient staff.

A wonderful lunch with friends. The food was fantastic. All of the staff were friendly and professional making everything feel special. The crab beignets were a particular highlight but everything was delicious. Our vegetarian friend had lots of choice and his pasta was super yummy. We will definitely be back soon!

Superb ! The welcome was warm and the food was exceptional. Our server was brilliant and it will be The Cock's loss when he goes back to continue his mathematics degree at Newcastle at the end of the summer. It's just a pity we didn't get to ask him to explain to us what an algorithm is. The evening was made complete by a 25% "loyalty discount" as this was our seventh visit (actually, it was about our 30th but we completed our current (six visit) loyalty card on this occasion.

Very good food, reasonably priced and excellent service, in a nice setting with a good atmosphere. This is our second time here and we now regard dinner at The Cock as a special event. The menu has enough range for most people to find something that they like, while clearly being all prepared in-house, and having a home-cooked feel. We received a warm and friendly welcome the moment we stepped through the door, and service was at just the right pace.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch with our friends, which is always the case when we dine at The Cock in Hemingford Grey. Their specialty, the sausage and mash variety is the best ever! The young, super friendly front of house staff are very attentive which is much appreciated. Overall excellent value. We are already looking forward to returning soon.

Most of the reviews for this place are glowing and we have been here a few times before and have always appreciated the quality of the cooking, the service and the atmosphere. This week was not so good though. The chef may have changed because the food was not as refined and well presented as in the past, but the prices are even higher than before. £24.50 for a piece of cod from the specials board, served with some vegetables, was pretty steep. We paid £261 for four people although this included a very nice bottle of white wine from the very south west of France for £49. However, we waited ages for the wine to appear, having to ask for it at least twice and having finished our starters whilst waiting. It was a Tuesday lunchtime and the restaurant was not very busy but then there was an unaccetably long wait between the starters and the main course. The manager/waitress insisted on referring to us all as "my lovelies" every time she came to the table which we found over-familiar and patronising. All in all, the service needs attention. But, my biggest complaint is the £3.50 charge for water in a glass bottle with a stopper on it. I had expected tap water, but was told it was water "from a machine". As more and more people eating out are refusing to pay for bottled water, I found this to be a bit of a scam which left me feeling cheated. Overall, a somewhat disappointing visit this time.

Brilliant meal for 17 staff attentive but not over attentive. Friendly and ensured meal ran smoothly. The food was 5 stars all round - well presented snd tasted divine.

Great food and service, situated in a wonderful village. I had the Seared Scallops on Black Pudding off of the specials board and the Rigatoni from the al a carte menu. Both came out hot and tasty. We ate here to celebrate my birthday and the food was delicious and high quality. As a coeliac, it was amazing to have a dedicated menu to choose gluten free items (although the menu states it can't be guaranteed against gluten cross-contamination, staff were very aware and I felt confident that care was taken) with a good choice of items, in particular puddings! The serving staff were very on the ball with regards my dietary needs (including which specials I could eat) and service was good in general- exactly the right level of attention and prompt, without being overbearing. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. We had three courses and drinks! I had baked egg, fish of the day and we shared sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee- all amazing, especially the sticky toffee pudding!

Had valentines dinner set menu was lovely couldn't fault it, our waiter was a really nice woman called Marta, she was so friendly,warm and very in the know with where the food and wine was produced from I would highly recommend her again she really knew her stuff.

Having moved from the area two years ago, we were looking forward to our return visit to this cosy pub. But we were disappointed that the set menu was not available for lunch and several dishes were off the main menu, including the pork sausages. Also there was only one choice of starter and main on the fish menu. And what has happened to the bread that used to be brought to the table free of charge? Cheerful service but we don’t think there’s a chance it could be Pub of the Year at the moment.

Wonderful pub and restaurant in lovely Hemmingford Grey. Enjoyed a birthday lunch for a group of 8 shortly after Christmas. Restaurant is cozy with a charming fire place. The food was excellent. For starters had the duck parcel which is a must get. Lunch included the slow cooked pork belly which was very good and tasty. My partner had the venison pie which was similarly tasty and would order both again. The pub side of the restaurant was cozy with nice selection of beer and cocktails. Well worth a visit if in the area.

We had a last minute cancellation elsewhere due to a power cut. As we wanted to celebrate a special birthday we were fortunate enough to find a table here.
