Traditional pub with multiple vegan options, clearly marked and staff vegan aware. I went for the fysh and chips, an absolutely huge portion and the chips are beyond chunky! The fysh is banana blossom and had a nice crispy layer of batter. My companions really enjoyed their meals too. We’d all like to come back to try the Sunday roast soon. Dog friendly. Parking available in car park at the back of the pub or some on street.

Popped into The Closed Shop the other day, and it’s safe to say I’ll be back. From the moment you walk in, you get that welcoming, friendly vibe that’s perfect for a catch-up with mates or just a chilled evening. I had the fish and chips, and honestly, it was spot on. The fish was crispy, the chips were proper chunky, and even the mushy peas were great – and I’m not usually a fan! They were just the right balance of flavour and texture, adding a bit extra to the whole dish. Everything was fresh and full of flavour, proper comfort food done right. The menu’s got a great range as well, so there’s something for everyone. Drinks-wise, they’ve got a cracking selection of local ales and craft beers, along with a good variety of wines and cocktails. The staff were bang on too – friendly and quick to help with recommendations. All in all it's a cracking little pub. Great food, good atmosphere, and a proper warm welcome. Can’t go wrong with that!

Lovely local pub with a great Wednesday quiz and cosy atmosphere. Just popped in for brunch which was delicious, served every Friday/Saturday and on bank hols, 10am-1pm would recommend! We had a Full English and Pancakes, prices are reasonable in today's climate.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. The meat was so tender it fell apart, plenty of well cooked veg, a huge Yorkshire pudding and lashings of gravy. And the sticky toffee pudding to finish with was to die for.

Not been in for donkeys years and had a pint of Titanic plum porter in the beer garden. Service was great, pub nice and tidy 🙂

I was amazed how quiet it was here, even on a weekday lunchtime. The food was excellent, and the quantity in each dish was very satisfying. (Photo was taken after I'd tried some of each dish)

What absolutely, unbelievably fantastic food! Visited on Sunday with family who were visiting and I can not praise the place enough. Friendly service from walking through the door to leaving. The Sunday lunches are something else and I thought the roasted leg of lamb was the best till I tried someone's brisket! Then again i thought those little pots of cauliflower cheese were just stunning, only to be blown away by the honey glazed roasted carrots! As you can imagine my family are going to visit more often if I promise to take them back. Which means I must go every week on a different day and continue tasting this chefs superb food! Brilliant staff, great venue and sublime food and all for an unbelievable Yorkshire value price! Did I mention the seabass and vegan options looked just as amazing when I spotted them being whisked to other diners, I might even give that vegan Wellington a try next time! Aaaaand I went back January 2024 and it was just as fantastic! Now going to dream of the chicken wings and their sauce!

Fantastic pub, great food. Really friendly atmosphere and they love dogs! Went for a meal with eight of us and a whippet. The food was incredible, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Try the banana blossom vegan fish!

As you would expect from the team that were behind The Clubhouse( another must if you want top real ale). The beer is absolutely top notch. Food menu looks fantastic too will be trying in the near future.

Had an amazing meal ! The burrata was very fresh and the tomato were a great add on ! For mains went for the homemade veggie sausage and wowowow can't recommend it enough! Staff were brilliant and playlist was great ! Will be returning!

Came here with my family today for Sunday lunch and it was really superb. The staff were all lovely, the drinks were good, and the food was exceptional. We completely failed to resist a sticky toffee pudding for dessert!

The Closed Shop has been our favourite local pub for a long time, so we were pleased to see it reopen. After tonight's experience we'll be looking for an alternative. Bar staff spent their time discussing how the new owner is running the place, with frequent swearing. Dark haired tattooed male was extremely loud and particularly offensive in his language, female not much better. Young chap with spectacles seemed rather embarrassed by them. There were two children in the pub at the time. Not a great start by the new setup, and I can see from a previous review that we are not the only ones to feel this way.

Garbage. The manager was pissed and shouting at the top of his very loud voice. We are four blokes and couldn't hear ourselves think. We shan't be going back.

Stopped by for a couple of pints of Barnsley Bitter. Good choice! Excellent beer, well stored and served. Shame the food service has stopped.

Probably my favourite pub in Sheffield. Great selection of beers that rotate regularly and the quiz is a fantastic night that I try to go to most weeks. Food is very nice albeit a tad pricey

Nice pint without the unessecary trimmings so commonplace in the average pub. Energy about the place without feeling packed or claustrophobic, my go-to when I'm visiting parents in the steel city.

You can't go wrong with The Closed Shop. From the feel of an independent local pub, the range of beers and ales to the excellent food on offer. It's a firm favourite of ours.

Went here on a busy Friday night for food, service was really good even though it was very busy. Good drink selection. Had fish and chips which was great, way better than your standard pub food. Definitely visiting again

Popped in for lunch and a beer. I had American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and half a stout! Delicious and reasonable at £8!

A great pub for beer lovers. We visited with a crowd of friends on a Friday night, without having booked, and the wonderful staff still managed to feed us all. Something like a dozen beers, across the spectrum so everyone was happy.

Underwent a refurbishment a few years ago in the wake of the Hallamshire House over the road being taken over by Thornbridge, and it has made all the difference. Great beer, good food, warm and cozy. That's what you want.

Well, never in my life have I yet before, truly, and to the fullest extend, experienced a closed shop. This wondrous, yet notorious establishment stands tall among it's peers, and this review can not be comprehensive enough to comprehend it's former glory. Henceforth, I shall have to oblige by the terms and conditions of this humble abode and present it with five glorious stars.

Nice small place with a decent selection of local beer on draft. The fresh baked sausage roll was a decent pub snack too.

So much nostalgia. This was the first ever British pub I set foot in when moving from France. Amazing place with great people. I barely spoke English at the time and they were very easy going. Beer and food were great !

Great atmosphere helped by the welcoming staff and cosy interior. The beer garden is also very spacious and you can sit under a marquee or out in the open. Varied selection of drinks on offer as well to try, all of which were ace except the Disraeli IPA but I can't fault the place beyond that one drink

This part of Sheffield seems to have a never endiing supply of good pubs serving real ale. It is a hilly trek so a pint of Barnsley was most welcome. Very friendly staff. Lovely beer garden. Huge 10 yard walk to next real ale pub. Heaven.
