We were accosted by the owner because we spoke during a performance by a band. Never given a warning and told we were not welcome at the pub. Owner was aggressive and abused us for not being local or loyal customers.

Have passed this place many many times over the years but haven't stopped because I was driving. Made a special journey to see inside and enjoy the real ale which was very good. It was very busy on an early Sunday afternoon and the locals did seem to be enjoying themselves swearing their heads off. The room we were in just didn't seem right with the full-width picture of what seemed to be New York. How odd.

A real pub, with good ales, great regulars with extremely hospitable landlord and landlady. Good Friday music night

The Cleveland Bay has been a families favorite old school pub for centuries, and Stu is today. The bands that play live here are always amazing and packed out. Parties and bookings are available, and is one of the only pubs left that hands out a few sandwiches to their regulars on an evening. And older quirky pub, with vines running across beams, to intriguing finds hung on the walls, are met with modern demands and on trend drinks. There are 2 bars and 3 rooms to take advantage of here, so if the music is to much for you, you can always choose to relax in a quieter room, the bands can still be seen on the screens. The courtyard to the back of the pub continues the Cleveland Bay Theme, with strung lights and trellis, seating areas and heat lamps. As a family we highly recommend. X

Just had takeaway from happy valley. Chips were like cardboard absolutely crap. Chicken chow mein was ok no spice at all. Chicken curry was ok. Total dissapointment. Cant seem to find a decent chinese takeaway after dave retired from chung ying.

My daughter and I had haggis and chips from here today and it was the best chip shop I’ve tried. It was absolutely delicious! We were served by a friendly young man with a cheery disposition. I hadn’t been here for some 6 years, but it remains to be the best chippy, in my opinion.
