Unfortunately despite the new owners being nice I can't write a good review for this place. I ordered a large chips cheese and gravey this evening but the quality was awful. The chips barely half filled the container, there was basically no cheese and the gravey was like water. The portions have quite literally halved from the previous owners and some of the chips were still solid to. Wish I could of wrote a better review, but I cannot recommend this place as of now.

Super friendly guy there! However, once the second person came in our order got messed up. Under cooked chips from him being rushed, and our order was wrong with missing items. Food wasn’t bad, but just needed more time to cook. Except for the sausage which was hard to bite.

Really really disappointed, we waited 10+mins for the meal, which was fine thinking that we were waiting for our Cod to be cooked, wrong…… we were waiting for the chips. The Cod was disgusting it had a tang to it, the batter was soggy/wet and was luke warm, the chips were white and undercooked, as for the Irish curry sauce, it was sooo watered down. Nothing to compare with the quality of the previous owners The chip Yard.

Ordered food 19th june fish was chewy and overcooked. Only half a container of mushy peas. Irish curry sauce tasted like gravy with curry powder added. Only good thing to come out of it was the sausage for the dogs. Won't order from there again

The worst food I have ever tasted the chips were black and tasted foul and hard the sausages tasted cheap and nasty and undercook and beans were just warm waste of my money bought 2 lots came too 11 pound soon as we tried one bite went straight in the bin so had to fork out for more food elsewhere used to be nice here but gone well downhill. The lady that served us was ignorant too as she was on her mobile to her friend as soon as we went in and than again when we ordered food went out the back on her phone again shocking customer service won't be back o my cod all the time now.

The food was absolutely garbage. I ordered fish and chips for 12 pounds and the fries were not fresh and was soggy. The fish had zero taste it was a mess. I do not recommend buying their food.

Dissapointing as I've previously rated this place well. Our order took 90 minutes to arrive (nearly an hour late). No apology for the delay from the driver either. Food was OK. Fish decent but most of the chips almost raw. Hunter chicken and chips was pretty good.

Had the Hunter's chicken burger, burger wasnt to bad, could of put more cheese & filling. Chips were awful it's like they've been left for hours and reheated, no salt on the chips either which was disappointing as we got handled the food in a carrier bag and didn't get asked if we wanted either. Another downfall was I ordered to collect at 14;50 but still waited till 15:20 for my meal when it wasn't busy at all. Bit of a shame as I came here a few months ago and it was lovely.

Order for pickup still had to wait 30 mins. Chips had absolutely no salt on it whatsoever and they where stale. By the time I realised and walk have had to walk back they would have been stone cold. Very disappointed.

Ordered small sausage chips £5.10 was worse I’ve ever had will never go back

Came here for the first time as food always looks good when posted online, the girls were lovely in here and the chips were nice but me and partner both had fish and chips and the fish wasn't cooked, first bite was alright and though something was off, so had another and turns out it was uncooked, not good as I am pregnant and now have food poisoning. Really disappointed.

Where to start! Fish and chips was the order, What arrived beggars belief. The fish must have been microwaved to death then deep fried to death then I can only assume microwaved to death for good measure. The result was difficult to describe but the consistency of yoghurt would be close. The title of worst cooked fish in the uk may be worth a shot for them? It may even drum up some trade ? It’s almost worth trying just to appreciate what is written here it really was that unbelievable.

RUBBISH was over a hour and half late .Have had in the past and was good gone rapidly down hill chips were wedged in a small box and was like a big greasy pile were had to pry chips apart . Chicken nuggets were over cooked tasted like they were reheated in a microwave and kebab meat was cold no sources salt and vinegar over all very disappointed would not eat there again

Had your two fish n chips at lunchtime today. Great value, great taste, great service! Wish I lived closer than Dinas Powys! We will be back for more!

My partner went in today,4.30 pm,ordered fish and chips,4 staff all on phones talking together, could not really be bothered,young lady said they will cook fresh as there seamed to be rather a lot if fish in the cabinet. Upon receiving the food,drove home,opened boxes,well looked as the the fish had been cooked earlier in the day,very dark covered in soggy oil,fish dry not white,chips the same soggy dark,totally disgusting, never use again.

First time visiting chipyard, travelled 50 minutes by car after seeing amazing pictures online. The meal I ordered looked nothing like advertised, missed out “mozerella dippers” with my chicken burger meal also no received no “cheese” on my chips, also abit of salt and vinegar wouldn’t of gone a miss

£9 for apparently a LARGE CHIPS and a LARGE SAUSAGE and Gravy. I’m sorry but that is disgusting portion size, customer service was the poorest I’ve experienced. Avoid at all costs. Owners won’t even see this and apologize but I’m sorry that’s disgusting, should be ashamed. Bloody kids size is bigger than that.

One of the best meals i have had in my life and cant reccomend enough cant wait to have again whoever created this is a super chef still love it had it twice more

Ordered 2 large fish and chips. Fish was minute. Chips were full of fat. Black hair in Curry sauce.

Absolutely appalling service from here tonight, ordered on their app and they cancelled the order. Apparently refund will take a few days. Said if we want food to order again via the app and delivery would still take over a hour even though we have been waiting 1 hour 20 mins already. Will never try to order food from here ever again. If I could give a 0 rating I would! Highly disappointed

Awful! Delivery was over an hour late and unable to get an answer on the phone, making me late for my night shift. Food turned up soggy, tasting like it was cooked at the correct time but been part warmed in the microwave and desert was cold and burnt! Never eatting there again

I had the sausage in batter, chips and mushy peas The chips were fresh the peas amazing, the batter slightly soggy but not a put off. The girls who served us were very friendly

What a lucky escape! I normally go to Tino's on Cowbridge Road as it's just around the corner from my house, but he's closed for Christmas so I grabbed my phone and took a walk down to Oh My Cod on Nolton St. for my usual Friday fish and chips. I didn't take any cash or any of my cards as I intended to use Google Pay on my phone as it's 2022 and everywhere accepts cards. Unfortunately, Oh My Cod was closed. The only other one in walking distance was The Chipyard. I wasn't going to bother at first because I thought my fish and chips would end up cold after walking all the way home. But I really wanted my Friday grub so I walked down there anyway. Even though I thought it was obvious that I could pay by card, I thought I'd better check, so I asked the lady behind the counter. She told me no, it was cash only. What business in this day and age accepts cash only? I had a quick look around to see if I had suddenly travelled back in time. Nope, I wasn't in a cave. The staff weren't wearing animal skins or cooking over a pile of logs. I checked outside to see if Fred Flintstone was waiting for his next delivery, but nothing. I walked back home empty-handed, trying to think of an alternative name for The Chipyard, maybe something with a stone age theme. It was only when I went to write a review that I realised what a lucky escape I'd had. Most of the other reviews are saying how awful the food is. And they are quite recent too, none of them were written by Noah, or Jesus. So I've no idea what the chips are like, and I never got the chance to try the battered Dodo or the dinosaur curry. After that experience, I never will.

Been a few times and have had excellent food last visit tho food wasn't the best the fish used to be amazing disappointed with it on last vist

Ordered food at 6.23. After 3 phone calls. Told only 1 driver. But wasn't told food would be so long. The food was finally delivered at 8.46 It was cold. Chip's looked like they had been cooked over and over. Loads of batter. But hardly any fish inside. Spent £34 on bad service and bad food. Unfortunately can't give any less than 1 star.

Expensive and fish not up too much

We ordered off of just eat and was told it was confirmed at 8:55pm tonight. It is now 20 past 10 and our food is no where to be seen and you have taken the money out of our account. You are also not answering our calls.

Staff couldn’t even tell my what fish it was. It certainly wasn’t cod or haddock. Chips portions were pretty big and tasty but other than that not a very positive experience for a chippy tea. Staff seemed busy but one lass was just texting away on her phone

Very disappointing lovely fish but the portion of chips wouldn't have fed a 5 year old especially because they were very scabby and bitty.

Ordered there salt and pepper chicken with chips and by 12pm the day after was told by the doctor I had a food positioning, he said it was highly likely it was from the chicken, personally won't be ordering from them again for awhile

Visited today after seeing posts all over social media. If someone asked me if it was worth the money, I'd 100% say no. Chips was near enough raw and the wraps that they offer should be made fresh to order, not pre-cooked then nuked in a microwave. Not every customer needs to hear every conversation the staff members have, especially about the fights that's happened on the weekend. Very unprofessional mannerism coming from numerous members of staff. The boy working loves to give off dirty looks for no apparent reason at all. They gave off the impression as though they hated their job. Very unprofessional and the manager definitely needs new staff. Will not be returning in any hurry.

Wow, what an absolute DISGRACE of what they call themselves a running fast food supply. Firstly my order arrived missing items, which was an inconvenience but not an issue, then once calling the company… Well to say I was spoken to with such disgusting mannerisms and impolite attitude would be a HUGE understatement. The young girl on the phone spoke to me as though I was a mate of hers, not a paying customer with a query about my missing items, then in the background hearing another woman SCREAMING back to the girl how she definitely put all items in the bag, calling me a liar and then, this young girl told me I shouldn’t speak so aggressively to her as she’s just doing what she was told. Absolutely disgusting company, I have hear MANY complaints about the same behaviour but never experienced it myself until today. God for bid if you order from this place and even more of a god for bid if your order is wrong and have to call the company themselves… RUDE AND ZERO manners. Highly suggest they ALL get re-trained on customer service/hospitality, if any training has even ever been taken place at that place.

Travelled on hour to try this place , only to be told they had closed at 20:00 rather than 21:30, no updates on either of their social media pages. Very disappointed.

The guys really are under pressure here but if u can't handle to stress and pace it's not the place to work. When orders are wrong that's OK customers are allowed to say that they aren't happy but the attitude in return when ur politely bringing it to their attention is not acceptable. Food is lovely it just spoils it when this is the case every time. Definitely won't be returning its not worth the poor attitude. 4th time to Try as the food keeps it going but service wouldn't go.a miss

Absolutely vile disgusting overcooked and greasy.. I found the Batter hard, tasted disgusting, batter dark over cooked, chips look at pics they were dreadful we bought 2 meals would only refund for 1. Wouldn't recommend this place to eat.

Ordered from Deliveroo and never got delivered. I don’t recommend buying from Deliveroo at all.

Waiting longer than expected time rang them put me on hold and chatting to others in background had to re try again to ring them poor customer service plus order wrong havent had free can with my box meal

Don't really know who's to blame. Placed an order with deliveroo which took over 2 hours to arrive. Contacted The Chipyard and was told the order will be leaving in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later the order still had not left. Tried getting a refund, to which the response was I would have to go through deliveroo. Food finally arrived and was delicious. Would probably order from there again, but perhaps collection would be an easier option 😂

Ordered food on line, wanted fish and chips, food came but I was 3 bags of chip now why would you put a picture of a fish next to the chips. That's confusing people. So I was a very expensive takeaway tonight on bloody chips 🍟

Food is OK, when I went the burger menu was crossed out, so I ordered Chicken Curry instead, but they didn't have any of that either. None of the staff wearing PPE, no shields between us and them and not requiring customers to wear face masks either. Will avoid in future.

Food was first class as usual but the service was shocking, waited 25 minutes for food even though it wasn't busy was asked 4 times what I had ordered got home and had the wrong thing. 6 people behind the counter ,I think the phrase to many cooks spoil the broth comes to mind, shame really because the food is always spot on.

Popped in for lunch as I was working in Bridgend. Place was empty so I was a bit worried. Ordered Steak pie and chips to eat in and was told there would a wait for chips. Now I'm getting really worried!! Anyway, sat at one of the tables thinking I had made a big mistake. WRONG, this place does THE BEST chips ever!! Beautifully crisp outside, soft and fluffy inside. Go here just for their Chips, you won't regret it. Thank you Chipyard. See you next Weds!!

Not very nice staff using bad language put us off

The food is decent but I'd say it's pretty overpriced considering its quality. The chips are good, but the pies are doughy and bland. Some of their menu items are unavailable until a certain time of the day, though this information isn't posted anywhere in the store. Their specials are available to view on Facebook, though if you have no access to Facebook there doesn't seem to be any mention of them in the store. They don't take card payments. Instead they point you to the cash machine a few doors up the road.

Wife loved the Hunters Chicken and the Fish and Chips are nice.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star the chips were hard and crunchy and the size of it was like a small when I asked for a large it’s appalling and I will never have food from here ever again

Fantastic food, after seeing this place on Instagram me and my girlfriend decided to give it a go. We both went or the wraps and chips with cheese cake dessert. Fantastic value for money. The wrap was delicious. I know most chippies have decent chips but these hold there crunch are not covered in oil and you get a good hearty bit of potato inside. Can’t wait to go back and try it again

Food was lovely, but the service is appalling. Nothing in stock when asked for something particular. Really rude staff, it is not as good as it looks on Instagram. We traveled 40 mins to come here and we will not be returning.

This place has always provided excellent food quality and service, we've been coming here for 4 years now. I suspect some of these low star reviews are from the competition putting the knife in. Also in 2020 Covidworld deliveries are bound to be a bit crazy, so I think we need to give them a break. Anyone would lose their customer service skills a bit under that much pressure.

Food was great staff were lovely and my order was right really nice to try this place again and have a better experience than before.

Was told about an hour delivery which was fine, over 2 hours later no delivery and when I phoned was told ",it's on it's way love" Which I was told an hour ago I cancelled. "There we are so you're cancelling" was the response. I won't be ordering there again!!!!

Very poor customer service and delivery service. I was told it would be 1 hour approximately for delivery which was fine and acceptable. After 1 hour 15 minutes I phoned back and was told another 10 minutes, which was fine again. I waited another 35 minutes before calling back again to be greeted by a very rude lady on the phone, so a 2 hour wait for no food as I ended up cancelling because of the ladies attitude and rudeness, I am extremely disappointed as I have ate from here before (collection) hence for my return but sadly I won't be returning again. This review is solely on the delivery and customer service not the quality of the food.

Customer service appalling, young brunette girl behind counter was horrible and disrespectful, she not only told me what I ordered, wasn’t what I ordered calling me a liar then walked in back room to hide. What a cheeky after she messed up my phone order from the start, not only mine but someone else’s as well, I personally not sure how she has a job behind counter dealing with customers the way she did/does, unprofessional, stinking attitude problem and no customer care what so ever, Left with no food full refund, absolutely disgusted and never to return.
