Ordered via an app - having managed my own fish and chip shops I was concerned when 4 mins later it was on its way. Fish was a shocker, cold, greasy, translucent batter and broke in half on picking up. I’ve been horrified when served French fries and fish in the past. But never have I seen a 1.5” fish 😮 A cod fillet that’s clearly been cut into strips to go further. If I wanted ‘fish gingers’ I’d have ordered them or cod bites. I usually flit between 3 chippies around me and only used this on a friends Uber as they had a discount. Think it was 40% off the bill, but maybe it mean you only get 40% of the fish. Chips were cold sadly but were actually ok in texture. Curry sauce was only thing hot. Wouldn’t recommend but gave my friends a good laugh, so much so they got out a tape measure and took pics for their socials. Friend took the battered sausage. Was same, batter incredibly brown, translucent given it was so greasy, barely warm and chewy indicating it had been sat for well over an hour.

Ordered take away. Calamari was tough & overly chewy & bland. no taste, overcooked & exceptionally hard batter & obviosly re-heated, it was binned. Cod & chips. Cod was OK, nice batter & good taste. Chips were absolutely rank, old potatoes, you could taste the staleness & cooked in even older oil, just awful. Curry sauce, that was seeping out of the tub, obviously I don't blame the shop for this, this is either the fault of the delivery driver or poor packaging. Do not order from here. It's not cheap & the quality of food is exceptionally poor. Sick of these insane price increases & definately not getting the qaulity of food that matches the price. Will definately never use again.

Not a proper chippy. The street honks of old fishy oil every day when I walk past, and the food is not much better.

Favourite fish&chips in London！

No longer the 5 * chippy it used to be. Small overcooked portions and overpriced. Quality has deteriorated. Such a shame. I used to tell people that this was the best chippy around but since changing hands it has gradually gone down hill.

Changed my review from 4* to 1* Popped in after work few weeks ago and ordered a variety of food. Burger was OK but you can't really mess that up. Chicken wings were dry and were not spicy. Fish was dry and wife ended up just pulling it apart for the edible bits. The most disappointing thing mind was the chips, mostly dry and hard like they'd been sitting there for a long time. YOU'RE A CHIP SHOP.... I've been a customer for a very long time but the quality and attention to detail are gone. Charging £12 for fish that is substandard is inexcusable.

Amazing fish and chips. Chippy is definitely one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve eaten at in London. The cod was of high quality and the chips were cooked to perfection. As a Chef i Would definitely recommend

We had fish and chips here for the first time on an evening in October, and it was brilliant! Excellent batter on the fish, beautiful flakey fish, cracking chips, what's not to like?! Definitely my new go-to fish and chip place in the area.

The place smells quite weird like old oil and dust. Had chicken pieces and chips which were gross and I ate less than half of the good before leaving. The batter was soggy and the food had a weird taste. Chips were ok-ish. Can of Coke costs £2.65 which is quite extortionate for the ghetto this place is located in

***EDIT: The Chippy have always been my favourite, but lately, they've been particularly great. Their packaging has been different, too, so maybe they've made some changes. Before, you'd sometimes get curry sauce that was much thicker and creamier than usual. Lately, it's been like that every single time. The chips have been really crispy and fluffy. Everything always arrives hot and fresh. If you haven't ordered from here in a while, definitely try them again. Like I said, The Chippy have been my favourite chip shop for years, but recently, they're seriously great.*** Chips and curry sauce will always be my favourite naughty treat. The Chippy's is God tier. It can be hard to find good chip shop curry sauce in London, but my search for the perfect sauce is well and truly over. That, and the service is great and it always arrives within 15 minutes, piping hot and perfect every time. Lockdown would be much harder if I didn't have my favourite comfort food, and The Chippy do it just right. I dream about this curry sauce at night. My wife is jealous because I love it more than her.

Cold, soggy chips and fish batter. The scampi were not actually scampi but processed fish paste in batter. Very bad and misleading menu.

Absolutely disgusting probably the worst Chips I had in my life from a chippy. The fact the name of the shop is called THE CHIPPY FISH & CHIPS is laughable. It should be called "SCRAPPY CHIPPY" because that's exactly what you get. These chips were not fresh at all & all were extremely brown & overdone it was like it wasn't even potatoe. Don't bother waste your hard earned money going here. I would have been better off eating leaves of the tree lol.

When I went to the Chippy tonight the fish portions were smaller, the quality poorer and the prices higher. What a shame. It used to be the best local fish and chip shop. It's going in decline. Has it changed management recently?

I honestly have never had a worse chippy in my life and that is saying something. Not sure if the oil was dirty or the potatoes rotten but when it arrived every single chip was brown and still somehow raw. Absolutely disgusting, I genuinely couldn’t believe it when I saw them. Who would scoop these out of the fryer and think it’s even appropriate to serve them? Absolutely foul. Also ordered cod bites and sausages in batter and they were the soggiest things I’ve ever tasted. YUCK AVOID

The best chicken and chips I’ve ever had in my life and this is not an over exaggeration!

I ordered delivery from Uber Eats, it was delivered quickly. The cod was overcooked and too greasy, the calamari was dipped in the batter you get the fish in and I didn’t enjoy it at all. Very disappointing as I had heard good things about the place!

My mom came to visit me from Poland so I wanted her to try some nice fish and chips and thankfully I found the place! Delicious food great service and very nice space inside! Definitely recommend!!!

Shop does not read or follow instructions given when ordering online.. they call traditional chippy but fail every time to provide the basic salt, vinegar or chilly and mayo sauce with the order even if you put it in instructions. It’s a fake traditional chippy. Food quality is not great. Service is poor. I would highly recommend people not to order from here. It is an absolute waste of money.

Our go to chippy, been getting fish and chips from here for years. Chunky chips are a generous portion, the medium is enough for 2 people and then some. The fish is a nice big piece too. The onions rings are nice too, nice chunky classic style onion rings. Delivery is always quick with whichever app you use, and the price is very reasonable. Haven't tried the entire menu, however we love what we've had so far. Easily recommend to anyone.

I’ve been getting takeaways here for years. Freshly cooked fish, nice chips, big portions, friendly staff. My family say the chicken is good. I always go for haddock or cod. Nice

The wors fish I could eat is not fresh I don't know how long you was have the fish but I think like a week you are disgusting I paid 19 pound only for fish ,sos, lemon (I order by uber) pls look after your self ppl there is not good, fresh,healthy food 🤮🤮🤮

Food was sealed in the paper bag like always but the can drink in the seal paper bag leaked all over my food. Called up and told them that the deliveroo driver took my drink and reassured me that I’ll get new food because it was soaked. I insisted that the driver took my food back so I can get fresh food but he said he’ll go back to restaurant and get me fresh food and drink. I even called chippy and told them what happened and they said they will send me my order again but they never did. I’m very disappointed and I won’t be ordering again. Chippy. Terrible service

Mediocre over priced fish and chips. No one local in London knows how to make a decent fish supper anymore. You have to go up north to get one now.

I ordered Scamp, Calamari and a Diet Coke. I got 5 small burned pieces of each. And a warm can. Misserable portions, too much oil. Never again.

Cannot remember if I ever had better f&c. Go there! Food is delicious and very fresh. Staff is very friendly. Everything is perfect.

I guess time is up I should turn the previous 5 star review to 1, I've been your customer for over 7 months. Service is was always great while you're there, the service has been awful for last few times, is it not right to stare at me like that by your staff, like I can’t explain? My advice to you us a local if you want to keep your customers happy and coming back do not serve a small burnt fish for £12 to your customer please train your staff and fryer.

Tasty chips. The chicken wings were not fresh had a weird smell couldn’t eat it after one bite. They shouldn’t be selling off food.

So far from good. There was not a single person in the restaurant over an hour before closing and thins is still how bad it was. A box of barely cooked chips that were essentially just cold grease bombs. And for some reason they pot the chips overtop of the fish, that looked like it was sitting there for hours. The website says homemade tartar and fresh ingredients but I think the package of Heinz sauce they gave me says otherwise. Go get a good pizza a few doors down for the same price and skip this place.

This was my first fish and chip experience and I must say I very much liked it. The big-size piping hot cod & chip and a jar of tartar sauce came for £12 if I'm not wrong. Staffs were very kind & helpful.

Bought Cod and chips. When I arrived home the Fish was all dried up as were the chips nothing was fresh it must have been sitting there for hours. My advice is make sure you see what you are paying for. Mine went straight in the bin. Phoned and complained but I don't think they understood my complaint. Won't be going there again.

Staff rude and unfriendly. Huffed and puffed when I asked to purchase a soft drink after having already spent £12 because of a “miNimUm cArD pAyMeNt”. Like really? Also the cod was definitely not cod. Maybe haddock or halibut but it was way too meaty/chewy to be cod. It didn’t taste that great either and the chips were very subpar. The battered sausage was disgusting. Tollington’s down the road is way cheaper and has much much better food (way friendlier as well).

Ordered a cod and chips got the medium as was out of large, bloke deliberately put a small in and covered it with chips and shut the lid quickly, trusted them to be professional but sadly this was not the case this time, went back some weeks later with the same bald bloke was on duty, thinking it’s a one off I asked for the same again “ medium” cod and chips, got it home and the same thing a small……… this time I know it was definitely deliberate, as the order was being processed the bald guy told something to another guy and both just laughed, now I’ve passed many times and noticed that all portions are considerably smaller and the medium fish are cut in half length ways but still the same price. Shame on them as this was a fantastic chippy at one point and loved the food from that shop what on earth has gone wrong with this place?……. Fix up guys you can definitely do better!

The worst fish bar I been to. The staff are rude, they show attitude when you show politeness. Terrible service, rushed my friend and I. Food was cold. When we ordered for collection. The chips was soggy and ripped the paper bag. Didn't give us a cone. The chips smelled funny. Avoid at all cost. The chips tasted awful

Very Disappointed. I found a HAIR STUCK IN my COD. I contacted the shop explaining that I am a genuine customer I have provided all my details to prove I am a loyal customer (I always made online orders or or orders on the phone) that still traditionally buy F + C every Friday as a treat for me and my family. We've been ordering fish and chips here for years. Never had any issues until recently. I was very calm telling them the problem and happy to provide pictures, anything they need from me, the manager just dismissed me said ok i know, just contact ‘Deliveroo’  get your money there (Its where I ordered from); I explained I already have so they can contact you but they said they only get involved with drivers. The food is nothing to do with them, which is fair. So I had to contact you directly. The manager then said “so what you want me to send food again?” I had an appointment I don’t have time to wait. I told him “Refund will be more appropriate, plus i am still happy to go back for mine and family’s routine my F + C but please be extra careful in the future”.  He then suddenly decided that it’s not their fault and that no one has hair there?! Are you kidding me! How ridiculous, despite I already said that I love their food and I will go back. I believe refund is very reasonable since I definitely wasn’t going to eat the fish, its already disturbing as it is. With the call going on more than 15 minutes he finally not sincerely said “ok, what’s you bank details?”. You guessed it.. HE DID NOT REFUND ME BACK (its been 3 days, so i did give him time). I really tried reasoning with the manager, all i wanted was a sincere apology, refund and future orders won’t happen like this. You know very well I am genuine, If you took a look of your previous orders!! Simple but instead I received: rudeness, not trust worthy and accusation. Unnecessary. This didn't have to be like this, if this was handled professionally. It’s safe to say with that attitude you have definitely lost a loyal family’s business.

Disapointing! Have had fish from here before and the quality of fish is hit and miss. The last fish we had was beautiful but this time it had been delivered and was of poor quality. I called the chippy to complain but they was having none of it. So my newyear chippy dinner was ruined by grey unchuncky cod. Consistent good fish is required here.

Very good fish and chips place in Stroud green road. I came in on Christmas eve, and had a very good size cod and chips, with a bit of mixed salad and tartare sauce. I'll be happy to have lunch again here when I'm in the area.

Literally and simply the best fish and chips I ever tasted. Crusty and very well balanced between oil and fish texture. Fries are generous, crust as well and the sauces fresh, perfumed and delicious.

The fish & chips were average. I paid £17 which I found expensive compared to the other Fish & Chips shop in Haringey which is only £10 and much more tasty. Myself and my mother got glared at by the senior member of staff. He did not hide his dislike towards Indian customers. Racist attitude. I will not be coming here again.

Best fish I’ve had in a long long time. Fresh, succulent and the homemade tartar sauce was another level. Chips were average but that’s ok. Would go back just for the fish. Nice guys too.

This restaurant is excellent value for money because the fish portion is huge, very fresh and succulent. The batter was crispy and it held together with the fish. You can choose to have the fish grilled with no batter. One of the best fish and chips I have had so far in London. The service was lovely and I'd like to visit again.

Awful food, terrible service. The chips taste like cardboard. The most horrible chips I've ever eaten. Overpriced!!! Charge a minimum to eat in even if the whole place is empty and you're a regular. Disgusted with everything about my visit today and will never return. Oh and the fish tastes like they microwaved it.

Usually very nice, but after getting awful chips on our last order we waited a couple of months, but unfortunately the chips were just as bad. We will be avoiding for a while and hopefully things get better.

We ordered take away. Chips are great, fish is so soft. Side menus are also awesome. I recommend king prawns. Plus, curry sauce is delicious.

Chippy is by far the best chip shop in North London. We probably order far too much as my husband is in love with the chips and curry sauce. Very fast delivery, never had any issues with the food and it is always delicious. Thank you Chippy’s!

Wow the first time a delivery arrived in tasty condition nice hot chips perfect battered sausage great chips I highly recommend this fish shop great service worth the eat.

Ordered a delicious cod and chips with curry sauce and a cheeky pickled egg. Chips were the usually slightly crunchy chip shop chips you’d expect and the fish had a gorgeous crunchy batter and flaky inside. Delivery was super quick too.

Haddock and chips was superb. The best fish i have tasted in a long time.
