Best chippy! Batter is always crispy, curry sauce is flavoursome, chips are always fluffy + cooked well, and they listen to my special requests, like extra salt & vinegar! Really well-priced and friendly staff. Can’t fault 👌

Got cod and chips and the white paper that it was wrapped in was absolutely full of grease. When I plated it up the plate was full of grease also. I phoned and informed the staff about the issue they just said that they would pass on my comment to the owner. I’m sorry to say that is not a satisfactory resolution to the problem. I won’t be returning there again.

Very fresh cod and scampi with nice crunchy and fluffy chips with a flavourful curry sauce👍👍 The owners were very nice and gave me a free can of coke on the house. Seemed quite busy and a nice atmosphere. Would recommend 10/10

A friend recommended the haddock and chips… awesome! Generous portions of both. The batter was crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the fish firm, moist and flaky. The staff was friendly and even gave our entire party canned sodas on the house. A must stop when in the area.

My 94 year old mother had a craving for Rock and Chips. This is her local so I bought her the Rock and I had cod. Plus a portion of chips. Everything about the experience was close to perfect. Lovely couple (and their dinosaur hat wearing young son) cooked and served the food. When I got it to my mother it was really very very good. The fish was beautifully fresh and cooked and the batter was the best I’ve had from a chippy. It was all so good that I shall make this a weekly meal for my mother and me. I am lucky that I go to lots of very good restaurants. At the end of my meal I felt happier than I have in many places costing a lot more. Thank you!

ALWAYS GET A FIVE STAR MEAL AND ALWAYS GREAT SERVICE. Always a friendly welcome. Great to see CASH IS KING. It appears that most of the negative reviews are from people who have to have things delivered to the door . Get off your butts and get some exercise. Then check your food at the shop . And make any complaints you have face to face rather than leaving silly comments on line. ( I know that's an easy way out)

We ordered 2 large codes and got 2 gold fishes when I rang to complain all he said was there was nothing he could do it was the 1st time ordering from here and the last time

Great chippy, great service, great food Update: I think ownership has changed as been here a few times recently and it’s not the same. The chips were soggy and fish wasn’t large. Shame

We ordered a meal with just eat from this fish n chip shop I ordered a veggie burger but couldn't eat it because they put mayonnaise on it I don't like mayonnaise so if I had known this I would not have ordered it could you please state on menu that the veggie burger comes with this or give us the choice if you want mayonnaise or not I had to put the burger in the bin the chip were okay

It must be a change of owner - such a let down after great food we had there before. Made to wait outside on the pavement for thirty minutes because they had no chips cooked.

Gorgeous food! The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Was very busy, but they have a great number system. I love the 2 queues outside - one to go in to order, the other to wait for your food. I'm so lucky to have The Chippy over the road from me!

Used for the first and last time. Chips were terrible as half of the portion was just hard bits and the plain sausage was one of worst I've had from any chip shop.

I live just near here and have always used them, fish always so fresh and tasty and on Fridays and Saturdays always queues so a good sign. The owners are absolutely lovely and I always get a lovely welcome .

I can understand why this place has a high rating. It's awesome. Great food, great customer service and really lovely people. I can honestly say it's the only chippy we'll ever visit when we're down that way again. Thorpe Park, then the chippy, perfect day.

I have been going there for years, went in today and had superb cod and chips, for 2, both portions (1 large, 1 medium) very good sizes, plenty of white cod meat. Service is very welcoming and friendly, and prices are good.

Always closes early. Every time I go it's closed, pre 9pm. Only accepts cash when open too. Fed up of always being let down. Go to Marlin in the high street, open when they say they are, also accepts card payments. Photo taken at 8:50pm.

Excellent food as always. Both the haddock and chips are hard to beat to be honest. Prices are competitive, owners are great, they’ve been there since the early 90s and certainly know what they are doing. Great stuff.
