Wish I had read reviews first before eating here! We had a nice walk round the harbour and thought it would be nice to have some fish and chips. Wish we hadn’t bothered, chips and fish not good so will stick to the other restaurants in Sovereign Harbour in future. Picture of the fish and chips looks better than the taste!

Me and my mum went there to have some lunch for myself. I had fish fingers and chips which I really liked. It was an excellent day.

No dogs allowed & nowhere to sit outside, lady serving not friendly, my 3 girls told they couldn’t eat inside despite it being empty and dining area clearly open with tables and chairs (I was outside with dog). Chips- small portion dried up old crap for £3.50 a portion! Save your money and go elsewhere!

We had a lovely fish and chip dinner from here, we were staying nearby so took it back with us. The chips were delicious and the fish was fresh. You can choose a large or medium cod, I had the medium and my husband had the large, but I think I could have managed the large fish too, the medium was quite small. The batter was very light and tasty, not thick and greasy. We hadn't got any vinegar or ketchup at our apartment (holiday rental) and they very generously provided all the vinegar and sauce sachets we could need. It was freshly cooked, so we didn't mind waiting for it and it was worth waiting for. We wouldn't hesitate to buy our fish & chips from here again.

I read the review and gave the chip shop the benefit of the doubt. But they exceeded all expectations on being the worst chip shop I've ever been to. My portion of chips were just scraps, the fish greasy. Never been served salt and vinegar from sachets before. May be it's an Eastbourne thing?

Chips were soggy, fish wasn't crispy and quite tasteless. On my previous visit completely different, new owners?? Overall for the price and quality that's my last visit.

We ordered dinner from here, the chips were too greasy, my 12 year old had a battered sausage, several hours later she started being violently sick for the most of the night. Will never ever order from here again AVOID!

Excellent chips and very friendly staff. Good seating area outside. Excellent value for money and very tasty.

How can a chippy with a queue/large turnover, cooking it from scratch, turn out such poor food? Chips were full of scraps, fish overcooked, greasy and small. Won't return.

Will not be going back, asked for large portions but the portion size was more extra small. Very expensive for what you get!! Shocking!!

Visited here Saturday Afternoon. Bought a haddock and chips meal and my girlfriend had a portion of chips. The chips were lukewarm and not tasty at all. Saving grace was my freshly cooked haddock. If this is the best Eastbourne has to offer by way of Fish & Chips, then how sad. I thought seafront were meant to be famous for quality chips.

All oily, not utterly fresh fish and so expensive to pay for. Couldn't eat it... delusional. It is a Pittyful thing as the restaurant looks so pretty from the outside and is located in Eastbourne stunning pier. Really bad propaganda for the area...a shame as I was expecting to eat a good crispy and lovely fish and chips and it was actually just the opposite!!

The Chippy is located at the entrance to the pier and offers seat in and take away. Service was a bit slow despite it nit being busy but was worth the wait, Quite pricey for basic fish, chips and mushy peas but taste was really nice and possibly the nicest sea side fish and chips I’ve had. The fish was covered in chives and the mushy peas were slightly minted. All this made the F&C really tasty.

Had cod n chips plus kebab with cheesy chips delivered. Was hot and very tasty , delivered before time but dropped a point as I hate the polystyrene boxes delivered in but small thing would recommend 👌

We have had fish and chips delivered twice in the past couple of weeks and it has arrived hot and on time. The portions are generous, the chips crispy and the fish well cooked and not too battery. Will definatley use again.

The Chippy has gone through several changes; it was a chippy then a kebab shop and now back to a chippy. The food was good; the chips not soggy and the fish crisp and well cooked. Portion size was also good.

The so called large cod had a funny smell and taste. The chips were white and greasy. I'm sure the dustbin enjoyed it.

Fancied chips after evening walk along beach from pevensey . Two bags of chips sounded perfect. Ok we arrived at 9.15pm in the evening.The Chips greasey ,crunchy ,bag of ends which left fat and grease around your lips. We had to throw away .The Worst...

Where to start , ok the chips are possibly the worst chips I have ever eaten they were undercooked, cold , and not fresh , the battered sausage as seen in the picture well I mean normal value burnt saussage that I'm quite sure is...

We’re on our annual holiday and we were looking forward to our fish and chips. No complaints about the chips and the fish was very nice too but the batter was very soggy. Disappointed.

Living at the harbour we often get our excellent fish and chips to go on the way home. The large portion of fish is delicious and chips are good too. We've had donas as well but I prefer my fish and chips

Possibly the best haddock and chips on the south coast, well recommended, cooked to order by courteous staff and very reasonable price, I will visit again

Why do people go into customer service if they don't like people walking through their door into their business ?????? Was checking the harbour out and deciding whether to come and stay here for the airborne show in August . We came across this chip...

Coming to the seaside you expect good fish and chips, don't come here! We have repeatedly tried this restaurant, as we now live local and it's easy to get too. Unless it changed ownership we won't return. Grumpy service, greasy fish and chips. No thanks......

A small takeaway fish bar in Sovereign harbour. I have been here a number of times and it is very good. Beware, as it is not open that late in keeping with other places in the harbour.

I had cod and chips from The Chippy last night. It was the worst I've ever had. The fish was lovely and firm but very watery. The chips tasted as if they were left overs, certainly not cooked fresh. The meal was a mess of...

A very pleasant meal at a very reasonable price. Good scratch with fryer La... and excellent chips - this from a man who refuses to accept no one outside of Whitby can do proper f+C!. A good choice amongst the many Waterfront eateries.

Ok you have to wait for 5 /10 minutes at times, but at cooked Fresh, although take away, plenty of places sit and enjoy. Nice walk around harbour and only minutes from the beach, would recommend.

The food once you receive it is very good but you can be waiting a long time for service. Not all items listed on the wall are available. When asked for certain fish the guy stated no one has had that in stock for months...
