Just had Afternoon Tea at The Chinwag Cafe, Newmachar and thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s a definite ’must have’. We are very lucky to have this great cafe on our doorstep. The food is faultless (especially the strawberry tarts 😂) and the staff are warm, welcoming and cheery. I highly recommend a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

First visit after being recommended to go by a friend. What a wonderful place, lovely staff, great choice of food, my coronation wrap was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his egg sandwich Very reasonable prices for all the food/coffee and the scones with the jam and cream are the best I have had for a long time. Definately will be going back sometime soon.

Visited the cafe with two cycling friends. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the price was excellent. Would definitely recommend

My husband and I have been eating at this establishment for quite a while now and am very impressed with the quality of food, service and the friendly staff. Since Phil and Wendy have been running this Cafe the quality of everything is of a very high standard and we will continue to support them in their endeavours. I would definitely recommend eating at the Chinwag as we are very happy going there. Long may they continue to thrive as we will continue to have our lunch there on a regular basis.

This cafe has changed its name to Bagel Society and it is really good. The food is superb, I would recommend the El Diablo bagel. The service is good. The prices are reasonable, we were £14 for two bagels. I can’t wait to come back again soon.

It used to be the best baker in Aberdeen, but things have went downhill. Hard to get rolls(rowies) after 10 in the morning as so much of them are sent to other places to sell. I used to buy a dozen at a time and put them into the freezer along with the softies. Very handy for someone popping in for a cuppa. It's the people of Northfield who are loosing out. Some lovely staff and but some are more interested at getting a cuppa or a chat to workmates.

The Marcliffe has changed hands recently and I'd hoped the high standards would remain. Sadly this is not the case. The food is still excellent but the service is sadly lacking. I suspect this is due to inexperienced staff and poor leadership. I had to ask to have a pre-prandial drink despite arriving 30 minutes before our allotted reservation time. We were given the wrong menus initially. We were brought the wrong bottles of wine (both of them!). The cutlery had fingerprints on them. I had to ask for our wine to be poured on more than one occasion. So disappointing and I hope things improve as the Marcliffe is/was one if our favourites.
