Laura was great! Made us feel welcomed and at home after a long journey!

We had the most lovely experience coming in for dinner. We were served by Laura and she was so lovely with amazing service. The food was very tasty and good portions. Would definitely come back and recommend to friends. 🫶🫶

I had the buttermilk chicken burger - it was outstanding. All the right ratios of bun-burger-veg-sauce. The pudding portions are generous - beware! Very cosy atmosphere. Our server Sophia was excellent!

We stayed overnight and ate an evening meal here. The food was superb. We both had Hunter’s Chicken Schnitzel and it was delicious. The triple cooked chips are the best I’ve ever had and the chicken Schnitzel was so tasty - also, the bacon was crispy which is rarely the case at other venues. We then found room for chocolate brownies which were fabulous too. The food did take over half an hour to arrive but it was a busy Saturday night and it was definitely worth the wait. Eliana was our waitress and she was lovely. Can’t fault anything - thanks especially to the chef and kitchen staff for the delicious meal.

First time visiting with my friend who comes here often absolutely lived up to her compliments on the staff we were served by Sophia and the food was fabulous and I had vegan curry full of flavour a real treat Sophia was very helpful with my choices And continued to provide great customer service while we were here

Only booked an overnight stay the day before and what a little gem of a find. We were traveling with our dog and The Cheshire Cat came up on my web search, so pleased it did. Lovely friendly hotel/ pub/ restaurant set right next to the canal with private access straight onto the towpath. Absolutely perfect for the dog. Our room was lovely , food was great and staff lovely. Will definitely use again 💯.

As usual, the food and service was excellent! Eliana in particular is a delight, and complete credit to the place.

A special offer tempted us out into the bitter cold outdoors. Well worth the trip to our 'go to' establishment for such occasions.

We came on Christmas Day. Never again! The food was very basic, then our Christmas dinner came and we were basically given a jug of yellow fat instead of gravy, my mum poured it all over her dinner and it was ruined ,inedible! Later on that night my poor father had violent sickness 😷 we figured this was from the scollop he'd had for starter. Our whole Christmas ruined, for way over priced below average food. I'd heard really poor reviews from many others since. Avoid this place

Sophia was helpful and very professional as always. Saskia was attentive towards us all and treated us with respect. Eliana was cheerful every time she spoke to us. All of them made the whole evening a wonderful experience.

Sophia was amazing. As was Eliana and Saskia. They arranged a special table for us and couldn't have been more helpful! Tom on the bar was super cheerful. A great team, and a lovely evening 😀

Absolutely fantastic trio of meats Sunday lunch option with plenty of veg and gravy. Highly recommended.

The pub is in a good location and is a nice atmosphere - we have been before. However once again the food, in particular the Sunday roasts, were quite disappointing. The vegetables were poorly cooked and a lot of the content was dry. The meals feel heavy and not fresh - this is now unfortunately the second time we have had this experience. Considering there is a lot of competition in Chester for Sunday food, it really should be better.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here. The food was great and the building has plenty of character. It was very busy so the service was a little slow, but that's probably due to Christmas/time of year. We will definitely return with friends in the future.

Our Chester friends treated us to a three-course meal here, and it was a delight from start to finish. A great menu, ample portions that are well-presented and very tasty, and excellent service from Eliana. Warmly recommended; we're definitely returning here.

Overall a pleasant meal, I've marked the food down slightly as the chips were disappointing compared to the previous night.

Sophia was our waitress today. Sophia greets you with a smile every time you visit and she is always welcoming, helpful and friendly. She's an asset to the place.

Great destination with good food and service at a competative price

Edit: price increase on the Tapas Good food. Their three tapas for £12 is fabulous. Tasty chunky flavoursome sausage roll, Massive garlic flatbread portion and Fabulous onion rings too! Right on the canal and plenty of parking. I love the smell of the real fire too.

The Cheshire Cat was such a lovely stay. Me and my daughter stayed over for the evening, she's 18 with additional needs. We went for a nice relaxing evening and to enjoy a surprise birthday meal the following day. Nothing was too much for any of the staff they were all lovely and friendly and nothing was too much for them. A special shout out to Josh who went above and beyond to help us with check out and storing our balloons etc (thank you) .. me and my daughter had dinner that evening we enjoyed a pizza and had some dessert.. yum! All the family enjoyed the food for the meal too. Thank you so much. We will absolutely be back again. Lovely clean, comfy and big rooms. Also, the breakfast the following day was gorgeous thank you!

It was wonderful food. I recommend booking for a better service though - they left dirty dishes on our table whilst we were eating dessert.

Booked online for a celebration lunch on a Wednesday. Service was quick, food was good, nice location next to canal. Will definitely be back.

I expected the wrap to be warm, it was ice cold😔as was the salad that went with it. They were both lovely but the wrap would have been excellent if you were able to have a choice of it being heated. It was also quite cool inside the pub

A poor piece of fish in my fish and chips. Laura our waitress sorted the matter very quickly and price for fish was refunded. We use the Cat on a regular basis and this was a 1off situation.

Lovely place on the canal. We were there early and it was quiet, the full breakfast was tasty and hot and served with a smile. We were there for a couple of hours chatting, eating and drinking, no o e made us feel uncomfortable. We had a lovely time.

Nice pub, nice staff, decent atmosphere. However the food was a different matter. I ordered the gammon with eggs, peas and triple cooked chips. The plate was cold which meant the food cooled very quickly. The gammon was dry, the eggs were hard, the peas were cold and overcooked and the chips were soggy. Not very enjoyable at all. Don't think I'll be back 🙄

Service excellent, food very good. But 10 chips as a portion... There put in small silly bowls with paper to make it look like a large portion, but your fooling no one. Must do better.
